Really enjoyed the one night there. Terrific location. Staff very helpful on what was an early arrival and helping fix some plans that went sideways. Small drawback to what was a generously sized, clean and nicely appointed room was the inside stairway down to the room (old European building!) of about 15 steepish steps. OK for us, though a chore to take luggage back up on departure.

At the gateway to old town Geneva

This is an old school/Old World hotel at the gateway to the old town section of Geneva. We booked a junior suite here for four nights in August of 2025 and enjoyed our suite. The furniture appears to be 200-300 years old and supports the Old World charm and ambiance of this hotel.

The only real problem we had with this hotel was with the restaurant. We decided to have lunch at the hotel during the time we were there and had a very nice corner table. The food was good, but we had a bottle of white wine that the wait staff kept in a chiller just out of our reach. That meant that they had to do the pouring as I would have to had to get up to actually get my hands on the bottle. This was very inconvenient, and in the end our waiter came over, inspected the wine bottle, which still had a quarter of a bottle left, and decided to take it away despite our protests. This wasn't good and is why they are getting one star for service.

The housekeeping on the other hand, was outstanding. They had a sign to hang out when the room was ready for servicing and they came quickly and did good work.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel but would warn about the hotel restaurant, as that wasn't a good experience for us.

I was impressed how well the staff handled the difficult situation in which I needed to relocate to another hotel since the room I booked was not available anymore. One of their team members took us to another (very nice) hotel, paid for the taxi, ensured express checkout and made sure the breakfast was included. Building customer loyalty in unexpected situations is not an easy task, but this team did an amazing job. Will come back for sure.

A disappointing first day at a Usually Reliable Chain

As a frequent guest of NH Hotels across Europe, I have come to associate the brand with a certain standard of quality and comfort. It was with this expectation that I booked a superior room at the NH Collection Amsterdam city, and even paying a premium for what I anticipated would be an enhanced experience. Unfortunately, my stay was anything but superior and left me feeling thoroughly let down.

From the moment I entered the room, it was clear that the \"superior\" designation and extra cost did not translate into better amenities. The offerings were basic at best and certainly not what I have come to expect from this tier of room at other NH properties.

However, the most significant issue was the noise. It was relentless, permeating the room throughout the day and, most disturbingly, all through the night. Sleep was a luxury I was not afforded. The walls seemed paper-thin, and the central location, while convenient, became a major drawback due to the constant street noise.

Compounding the problem was the disruptive behaviour of the housekeeping staff in the mornings. The clamour in the corridor was so excessive it sounded as though they were wrestling with their trolleys.

This level of internal noise is simply unacceptable and demonstrates a profound lack of consideration for sleeping guests. This experience has been a considerable stain on my otherwise positive perception of the NH Hotel group.

It was a little bit of an off experience. The decor of the room as more than a little odd, the bathroom had a hand shower in the tub with no glass. There was very limited vanity space (this is likely what bothered me most). I get this is meant to be a European experience; however, I expected a bit more of given the status of the property. The bar wasn’t really a bar, it was more of a parlor with drink service. Okay I suppose, was looking for more of a lobby “vibe”. Everything was super clean and comfortable, staff very accommodating - perhaps just not aligned with my personal preferences.

Best hotel in old town Geneva

Beautiful hotel with a lot of charm located in the best spot of Geneva and old town. We all enjoyed our stay. There were six adults in our family ski trip in three hotel rooms. We stayed at the hotel at the beginning of our ski trip before we drove to Chamonix, in the middle before everyone went their way traveling through France and Italy and again my husband and I came back at the end for one more night before we flew home back to the states. The staff was very accommodating and wonderful! Highly recommend

This was a great older hotel in an amazing central location in Geneva. It has interesting and well decorated rooms that provide a flourish of elegance. The service and the added touches that we are accustomed to in a 5 star venue were lacking however. We are used to attentive service and more polish in the guest orientation. We enjoy small touches like ensuring that we have tea or coffee preferences in the room, and perhaps a query as to whether fresh milk would be helpful for the tea. The breakfast was nice but again liked the variety and the quality of places like The Royal SAvoy in Lausanne or the Trois Rois in Basel. Pleasant stay nonetheless.

Excellent area. Hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. Small hotel situated in the heart of old town shopping area, with best high end shops around at walking distances. One block from Lake Geneva and the garden Clock.
After staying a few times on the other side of lake where big nice hotels are located and transportation is always necessary, I found this little gem hidden in the heart of old town fancy shops, little cafes and restaurants area.

I would probably shop around to try to find a more contemporary styled hotel, but if I don’t find one, I’ll come back.

Usually I have stayed at the ritz which is definitely nicer but a little bit of a walk to the main shopping area.

Fantastic hotel right in the center of the city

I have been coming to Geneva a couple of times each year, for over 15 years, and have stayed in all major lakeside hotels, including President Wilson, Hotel d'Angleterre, Kempinski Hotel (now Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva), Hotel de la Paix Geneva (aka The Ritz-Carlton), and Hotel Metropole Geneve to name a few. However, this was my first stay in Hôtel de la Cigogne, and what a delightful stay it was. The hotel is centrally located right in the center of Geneva, on the Longemalle square next to the Old Town. I stayed in Junior Suite, and it was very spacious and comfortable, with one downside that there were no easily accessible electric outlets near the bed. The hotel is relatively small and boutique. If you are looking for a large foyer, several restaurants, a swimming pool, etc. – this is not the place, and for those things you may want to look into other hotels in Geneva, e.g., Fairmont Grand Hotel. In a sense, Hôtel de la Cigogne is more like Hotel d'Angleterre in its classical and slightly old charm style. The breakfast options at the hotel are limited as there is no buffet, but table service is fairly reasonable. The concierge service / front desk is excellent. All in all, this is an excellent hotel in the center of Geneva, on the Old Town side of the Mont Blanc Bridge, and withing easy walking distance to all major attractions in Geneva. Would definitely stay there again and have no hesitation recommending it.

The hotel is small but beautiful. All the rooms are different in decoration. Loved the restaurant and the staff. Would stay here again.

I am a long time Hotels.com customer and have never written a bad review ever till this stay. Terrible Wifi and I really needed it for work. Ended up in the Starbucks across the piazza. We were fobbed off and told they were updating their systems - you either have wifi or you don’t and this should be clear on the Hotels.com booking page.
AirCon non existent. On full fan and cold setting it was extremely weak during outside temps of 25-30C. Asked for repair and we were fobbed off. On checkout when I complained for the fourth day in a row, we were told that Geneva has Govt restrictions on use of AC?! If this is the case, it should be clearly stated on the Hotels .com booking page - we could not sleep it was so hot and sticky at night.
Dark lobby entryway and the tiniest elevators I have ever seen- fit one person and one suitcase only
Borrowed an adapter plug which I was going to return on checkout to find I was charged 20CH for it!
Photos of my “City View” below - it was awful and as we had to open the windows at night for air, we could hear the industrial fans whirring.
Overall the location was great but that’s about it.

The property itself is beautiful and with an \"old school\" charm which is what we were after. Also, our room was very quiet. We had breakfast every morning in the restaurant and it was delicious. Very Dirty for 5 Star Hotel

I was quite disappointed with the hotel since it was very dirty upon check In. There was trash from the previous guests still left in the room as well as uncleaned hair all over the bathrobes in the restroom. Not what is expected of a 5 star hotel. Informed the front desk but they just stated it usually does not happen.

The property was beautiful, the service was impeccable and the location was perfect for walkable access to trains and buses, old city and the waterfront. The shopping and restaurants were excellent as well. We all agree that we'd stay there when in Geneva again.

best location to access watch stores. The staff is very friendly and supportive. Smail and Pierre did an extraordinary work. We celebrated 25 anniversary in Switzerland and hope to return in 2 years. A real jewel in the center of Geneva. Do not hesitate to pay for the valet if you are driving with your car.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel de La Cigogne! It is in a perfect location to walk to all of the sites, restaurants and shopping. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was wonderful! Would definitely stay here again if my travels bring me back to Geneva!

I have always liked staying at La Cigogne, due to its convinience, special rooms, service.
But this time around, I booked the Jr. suite, It was such a beautiful room, with Chinese furniture, really loved it, but found a few things missing. The least you can expect is a kettle and some coffee cups or mugs...There were literally 4 capsules of coffee for a copule staying.. The worst part was my wife forgot her ear pods in the room, after checking out, we called the hotel and asked them to check, they said they were not there. However todays tech, we can trace them in the premises, on our phone. we know they are there, but the hotel deny's finding them..we have emiled the hotel with a screen shot of the earpods, been shown in the hotel...however the are still refusing to accept .I have stayed there for many years, but I think I will have to think twice the next time I go Geneva.

This hotel is centrally located is the busy city. Parking is difficult to find at night, underground structure at $30 per night but is within a 5 minute walk. I upgraded our room which was spacious 500 sq ft, but the bathroom was tiny. Staff was friendly. Walkable to all of the city.

The olny criticism I'd have is that there was no USB or provision to charge your phone or laptop in the room, the Swiss have their own unique power outlets so my Worldwide Travel Adapter with built-in USB's wouldn't fit, however reception provided me with a Swiss to European adaptor which solved the problem.
