Very nice hotel, although more like a 3*. We had the apartment for 4 adults which was quite large, although not as advertised since our room had 2 double beds, instead of the double bed a bunk bed / two single beds shown in the photos.

The breakfast is decent but the coffee machines are really old, slow and unpredictable. It's coffee roulette as sometimes a perfect cup of coffee is produced, whereas sometimes it's a few drops of dishwater in the bottom of the cup. Not a problem for me personality, but worth noting there is no hot chocolate available. The food choices were varied and all tasty, although sometimes could be cold.

Not a UK standard 4 star hotel. Air con didn’t work properly, the bed for the children was a pull down sofa which was very uncomfortable. Not a great choice on the half board evening meal menu. Wouldn’t stay again

We didn’t use the paid parking as you can park outside
Lift wasn’t working on our arrival, our bedroom was at the fourth floor!!!
Our bedroom was flooded, it was raining very badly so we requested another one and had to go downstairs again (no lift, remember?) Change was quick
In the second bedroom, the stovetop wasn’t working, the furniture and bathroom were outdated and we had only two towels for 4 guests. There was a dishwashing kit, very useful.
Spa facilities are very outdated too but massage was great, the sauna wasn’t working. The lift wasn’t working again so we had to go through the service stairs to get to our bedroom. Access to the pool is 8€ for the whole stay.
Breakfast at the restaurant was ok but could be better, on the second morning the microwave and the toasters weren’t working either.
Pool table wasn’t working in the reading room, sliding doors of the main entrance were out of service too.
The hotel is close to PortAventura, Tarragona and Salou, so very well located but deserve a full revamp and complete refurbishment.
Too many things weren’t working even if the price was affordable.
We always book 4-star hotels but this one was by far the most disappointing and doesn’t deserve this ranking.

This is good stop on the way from UK to Costa Blanca, we have stopped several times, nice and easy.

Restaurant nice and staff good and local there are has plenty of bars to eat if you want something outside. Very near the motorways AP7 and A7

The room is clean and tidy, the bed is a bit uncomfortable though, we stayed in an apartment which comes with a small kitchenette, kids sleep in the sofabed and the adult sleep in 2 single beds combined as a double bed. you do need a car if you want to stay here as it is quite far from Port Adventure.

Nice Hotel, Nice staff, nice town

We had a lovely time, staff really friendly, there is even a shuttle taking you into Salou a couple of times a day for free (wish we'd known that from the beginning!!!!)

The town is really Spanish, no English translation on manu's etc (which we liked) made us realise that we really need to brush up on our Spanish!! :-)

Nice hotel, decent standard.

Accomodation: enter into a kitchenette with kettle, microwave, stove top and fridge. You must request kitchen cooking/eating equipment which is delivered to room. This leads to a childrens sleeping area with bunkbeds and a large sliding door into a larger bedroom for adults and the ensuite.

Bathroom was very good. Hot shower with lots of pressure. Plenty of towels and shampoo/shower gel. Hairdryer in bathroom.

Had power cut whilst cooking spag n meatballs so we were moved to apartment next door which was slightly different as it had 2 separate beds. My daughter preferred this as she banged her head on bunk a few times as it was low.

Disney channel on tv can be changed to english language if you have right remote control (Samsung) must have 'tools' button. We swapped them over from 1st room to 2nd as 2nd room had different controller!

Hotel is on a roundabout, on same roundabout is a Spanish supermarket, bit closer than Lidl and Aldi.

Excellent driver of courtesy shuttle bus to La Pineda beach and Salou called Sergio. He spoke flawless English and answered all questions.

The rooms wee not quite spotless i had to clean kitchenette before use and a few earwig type thingys were about at times. Nothing a shoe didn't sort out though.

Olga on reception was very helpful when we discovered we had left our return Ryanair boarding passes in the 1st room and kindly printed off new ones for us.

All in all a pleasant stay.

Overall it was a great holiday, but the hotel would of not of been the highlight. Thought the hotel was clean and had 24/7 service, the staff were polite, but not very courteous, and sometimes felt forced to help rather than wanted to. the air conditioning in the room did not work, and with high temperatures, i was pretty unpleasant to sleep at night. The beds were not that great, facing slight back and neck problems, but nothing severe, just would of liked a softer pillow and bed. Overall the hotel is by far not the best we have stayed in, but it was a reasonable price and location so we settled for it. do not think i will be returning to that particular one, but i know mercure has done us well in the past in other locations.

Nice quiet location with all you could ask for.

Hotel conveniently located away from from the hustle and bustle of Salou. The Family rooms were of a good size and had a small kitchenette. Only thing that was lacking was nice TVs/DVD/Media player. No English channels not even BBC World News. Wifi good.

The outdoor pool was a good size, but can get busy in the afternoon. The Indoor Spa pool looked nice too. Did not eat in the restaurant, so can't say what the food is like.

Three supermarkets within a 10 min walk and a few restaurants in the very near vicinity.

Good value for money overall.

Great location for Port Aventura

The purpose of our stay was to spend two days at Port Aventura. This hotel is situated within very easy driving distance - less than 10 minutes and a fraction of the cost of the Port Aventura hotels! They also run a bus service to and from the theme park. We stayed in a family room which was very comfortable with bunk beds for the kids and an adjoining double room. Would also recommend breakfast - great variety of food available which set us up for the day! If returning to the theme park, would definitely use this hotel again

Good, cheap stop-off

Needed a place to stay en-route to Barcelona. Mobile World congress was in full swing so anything within 30km of the city was insane - typically 5x their normal rates. This hotel was a bargain for 4 stars.

Nice Hotel, bad location. no good for romance!!!!

Reception staff have no idea about the surrounding area and need to check the internet for everything.
Free WiFi was very poor in room. The double bed was 2 singles pushed together, but definitely singles, which moved even if you just wanted to hug.Not ideal for a romantic weekend.

The indoor pool was connected to the Spa which only opened at 10am, which is too late if you fancy a swim before breakfast and before going out.

Not a hotel I would go back to

Good hotel but with a few flaws!!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel however there were a few issues that let the hotel down. On the positive side the rooms were clean and staff very friendly but as a tourist with a car i was most annoyed to find out that to use their car park would cost 9 euros per day which i think for a four star hotel is disgusting.

Should you choose not to use thier car park you can try and i mean try to find parking in the vacinity which is almost impossible and should you park in the wrong bays in the town you could find that your car has been towed away.

My second slight grumble is the location which quite literally is in the middle of nowhere so be warned if you going for the fun and attractions if nearby Salou or La Pineda be prepared to fork out 15 euros each way from the hotel or you could wait for the hotels very small minibus which is always full!

Hotel for Portadventura, Salou

Stayed here for 1 week (16th -23July). This hotel is in Vila-Seca, a few kilometres from both Salou and Portadventura. There were 4 of us staying in a family room. In the 1st room the single 'camp' bed had a broken leg and was very wobbly and the air con was barely noticeable. After complaining we were assigned a new room. The room was clean and functional with two single pushed together to make a double, a 'camp' bed single and a sofa bed. The kitchenette was small as you would expect but fridge worked well. The air con in the room wasn't great, cooling the room just enough to do even turned up to full all the time. The cleaning of the room was excellent every day. The pool area was clean and the pool warm enough. There were sun loungers and towel on them but could be hard to come by in the late afternoon. Didn't use the spa (but it looked fine) and didn't eat at the hotel so cant comment. The shuttle service to Portadventura and Salou runs 3 times in the morning and returns only once in the evening so only good if you want to go around 10am and return at 7.20pm. The bus services are very patchy indeed so don't rely on them. There are a few restaurants in the small town but not a large choice really.Overall a quite good hotel but out of the way a bit with poor connections

Great hotel in an awesome town.

Hotel was great, and is ideal for those visiting Portaventura theme park as it's just a stones throw. Superior rooms are very spacious and although I hated the fact the beds were joint twin singles to make a double (which a majority of hotels seem to be doing nowadays), those too were also huge. The room in itself were furnished great but parking can be costly for those wanting to maybe stay a week or longer (€9 per night!!).

We went here for a weekend to go to Port Aventura. It's a nice, quite new hotel. The carpets in the halls were a bit dirty, like they had things spilled on them a lot and were never replaced, or were cleaned with bleach. The room was a 1 room suite that actually had 4 beds in it, and a kitchen. You have to ask for the kitchen utensils at the counter and they will bring up a whole container of them. The only problem I had was that hotels.com booked me incorrectly, BUT the lady at the front desk changed us from a single room they had booked for me, to the 1 room suite I had actually booked online for no extra charge or anything. Good service, nice looking place. Lots of markets and a few bars and little restaurants within walking distance. Overall, would recommend this place.

Overnight stay only, in a very modern looking hotel. Lift area and steps still to be completed. Aircon wasn't working so room was stifling hot, hence had a very poor nights sleep. Booked 7am Breakfast, as leaving for airport at 8am. Waited 10mins to be signed in, eventually found a member of staff in the kitchen who came out pointing 2 very sharp knives! A very continental breakfast + microwave to warm bacon and egg! Very helpful reception staff. Taxis appeared very quickly when ordered through reception.

Lovely hotel in peaceful location.

The hotel was in a quiet and peaceful setting surrounded by plenty of shops, it is very clean and comfortable with friendly staff,there is a free shuttle bus to take you to and from the theme park of port aventura and the aquapolis water park and the beaches of salou and la pineda,overall a lovely place to stay and good base for all activities.

Bathroom in need of a good clean, not up to standard requirement with dust on fittings and mould on the tiles. Room was for two people but only one coffee and one tea sachet in the room, no milk offered although we managed to get some fro the restaurant. The staff were excellent a pity about the standard of the hotel. We stayed in five hotels during our trip through Spain an France and this was without doubt the worst.

The hotel was worthy of 4 star, the staff where friendly and went out of their way to advise us on transport & other facilities, although if you are staying for Salou, tarragona or portaventura be prepared to pay taxi's around 13 euros each way, we found the public buses became unreliable throughout the early evening, on a positive note they have bicycles to hire for around 10 euros a day! which made getting to salou an enjoyable experience other than that i had no problems at all!.

Nice clean hotel which provides a free bus to Port Aventura and Beach. The town of Vila Seca has few tourists and is catered for the locals. There are a handful of bars and restaurants near by. Perfect for the theme park but wouldn't recommend for a stay of anymore than a few days.

Lovely hotel but not a great location

This hotel was comfortable, clean and upmarket. It has an outdoor pool and spacious rooms. I was particularly impressed with the hotel staff who let us check out an hour later free of charge, printed off bus and train times for us and were generally very informative about the area. The location of the hotel is the only thing that was slightly disappointing. If you are after a beach holiday then there is a bus service for around €2 return to Salou which takes no longer than 20 mins each way. If you are looking to visit Barcelona, then the train is around €18 return and takes an hour and a half roughly from Vila-Seca station. Vila-Seca itself doesn't really have much to offer tourists but is an authentic Spanish town with a few cafe/bars and some shops (you'll probably be the only Brits in the town!). Overall, I am impressed with the hotels quality and service, however, it would have been nice to be able to walk to the beach rather than get a taxi/bus.

Great hotel for the price

Even though this hotel is an hour away from Barcelona, we really enjoyed exploring Tarragona, and the train station is about a 15 min walk from the hotel so it was easy to get to Barcelona. There are also a few good restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast buffet was very reasonable and offered a good variety (although we did encounter some rude hotel staff there). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it for a quick trip to Spain.

Having an elevator service from the Garage Parking directly to the floor level we were staying on - was a great bonus, since I did not have to go via the lobby to get to and from my vehicle.
The breakfast could have varied - since having the same for 10 days was not enjoyable.

Good value for the money.

Overall, a good hotel that is undergoing some remodeling currently. The spa was small, but included. The indoor pool smelled too much of chlorine for us to use, but others seemed to enjoy it. Breakfast was OUTSTANDING, and included. We would definitely recommend this hotel, which is a short drive from the sites in Tarragona, which should not be missed!

Just back from our 5 night holiday, I m really happy with d hotel, nice clean, good size, small kitchen became handy if u didn't book breakfast, close 2 port aventura, 30,40min walk 2 salou beach, not many bus coz it's no high season. But few point d hotel can improve, for example should have kettle in d room, and coffee machine not really working at reception, so on Sunday I couldn't get a coffee coz no shops open on Sunday in d area! But overall I m really happy with our stay, and enjoy it!

Comfy, Spacious Apartments

The hotel is located in the centre of Vila-Seca, 5min drive away from Port Aventura and the tourist centre of Salou. The benefits of this hotel are that it is out of the main tourist area, and therefore feels a lot less 'tacky' when it comes to location compared to being based in the centre of Salou. There are two big supermarkets 5 minutes walk away. The outdoor pool and indoor pool were always quiet, and a great place to relax and come back to after visiting the surrounding towns and Port Aventura. When I return to the area, this is where I will be staying. We stayed in an apartment on the top floor - this had an outdoor space with sunloungers and the view meant that we could see the ocean and the Port Aventura park (which was great for me being a theme park addict!). A festival was taking place in the town during our stay, and some loud firework bangs woke us up at 6am but we could not hear any noise during the evening. A great hotel in which we would definitely stay again!

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night in January of this year and that was enough. Location wasn't great although there is a supermarket down the road which was useful. Room was dirty which was bad enough but then went for dinner in the restaurant, service was good although there was only 1 member of staff so was a bit slow, food was terrible. Then went for breakfast in the morning as we were starving and the food was even worse. Breakfast started at 7am and we were there for 7.15, there was not a member of staff present for the whole time we were there (about 30 mins) cereal was stale, no hot water for tea although there were teabags, bacon, eggs and sausages were cold and dry and to top it all off picked up a pastry and aload of little black flies flew out. Definetly don't recommend this hotel.

Won't disappoint, won't excite!

My partner and I discussed and we both felt the hotel fell into the category that you wouldn't have any major issues, but you wouldn't be too excited either.

Pool - needs some maintenance, fully functional but some mosaic tiles needing work
Gym - non existent, one bench and one bike, not working
Restaurant - nice food, very limited choice
Rooms - clean, comfortable and what you'd look for, plus working air con, thank goodness :)

This hotel is quite modern and well kept, the pool and spa were good, but the area is a bit of a letdown, as no one other than the reception staff spoke English! Fine if you want to only go to port aventura , but not good if you want to be in salou because it's about 12 euros into salou. No wifi in the rooms, only the foyer which was a bit of a pain.

This was our fourth time at this hotel in the last two years. the hotel staff are great and the place is kept very clean with a nice pool area with plenty of comfortable sunbeds.Villa seca is a great place and is a typical spanish town with plenty of bars all serving good tapas. There is a good paella restraunt in the old town near the church. We will be returning again later this year for a winter break

Excellent hotel, staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel is less than10 minutes on the bus to Salou and portaventura. Once you learn the bus timetable it is really no problem. Locals are really friendly and more than willing to help if you don't speak the language. Also a train station nearby of you wanted to Barcelona for the day.

Great value hotel for family

Great hotel for exploring the area, close to motorway and to the Park Aventure, and as well to Salou and the beach.
Overall a very pleasing experience, our daughters enjoyed especially the outdoor swimming pool.
Breakfast booked via Expedia was very good value, lot cheaper than paying at hotel.
Only negative was that there was a bit of a smell in the bathroom, probablly from the drains.

Good hotel. More 3 star than 4 star. Staff polite and friendly. Hotel clean.
Good if you like a quiet holiday. About 5 minute car journey to beach, half hour walk.
Buffet breakfast good. Three course evening menu a bit hit and miss.

If only it had balconies!

We enjoyed our stay at the Aprthotel Atenea Aventura. Our biggest disappointment was to discover the rooms did not have balconies. It makes the rooms very restrictive. The only other complaint was that you had to pay to park in the hotel. Holidays are expensive already with car hire and petrol without having to pay to park in the hotel. Apart from that, the hotel was nice and pleasant. Pool and Spa were very enjoyable. The town of Villa Seca is quiet and away from madness of Salou. A good base.

Overrated. Don't waste your money.

We booked a double room but were put in a twin room. The food was awful - not fresh at all and limited in choice. As we had a rental car, we asked could we substitute the parking charge instead of having the breakfast but the manager said no. The fitness centre consists of a sauna which didn't work and a bench press and basic exercise bike just aside a hallway. The wi-fi is only in the lobby - to use the internet in your room you need a cable from the front desk. To describe the pool side bar as pool side is misleading - you have to go in to the hotel to use it. There is no atmosphere in the hotel at all. There's even less atmosphere in the town. When the locals realized that my boyfriend and I have very little Spanish, they became very unfriendly. If you're exhausted and are stuck for a place to rest, or if you absolutely MUST spend time in this part of Spain for business, this hotel will do. For a holiday? Forget it!!!

We could live in Salou

This was an ideal base for us to visit the area. Becausee we had a car we were very mobile and just a few minutes away from the town centre. The local area was very clean & tidy and appeared to be a very safe neighbourhood, the local cafes and bars were very welcoming and managed to work their way through our language difficulties. Overall Salou was a very enjoyable experience

Not a fantastic location

This hotel was OK, BUT - be aware that the gym consists of 1 bike and spa treatments e.g. massages are NOT available on weekdays! No in-room movies. Considering this even the tempting price didn't make it worth it!
Other than for PortAventura (which is NOT within walking distance if you have children or are in anyway less than superfit) there is no sensible reason for a tourist to stay at this poorly located hotel - perhaps the dividing door between yiou and the kids could be important enough? Parking is an extra 10 E per night - street parking is not an option as too many apartments frequent the locality + security felt 'iffy'. There is a pretty good UK/SA bar next door that serves moderately decent pizzas.

Lovely Hotel - Great Price

The hotel is great. It's brand new and is very modern. The room was very big, as was the bathroom. The free code protected safe was a bonus.
The town of Vilaseca is reasonably quiet, however, there are a couple of restaurants and bars. The nearest beaches are in Salou and La Pineda and they are ten minutes away on the bus, which costs €1.45.
If you are travelling to Barcelona from Vilaseca, the best way is probably by train. The train station is a ten minute walk north of the hotel. The first train is at about 0600 and the last train back is roughly 2100. A return ticket costs about €12.50 and it takes about 1 hour 20 mins. You pay for the ticket on the train.
This hotel is a great alternative to staying in the centre of Barcelona as it is a lot cheaper than a centrally located hotel.

Good hotel for weekend stay

Very clean modern hotel.Rooms good size with everything you need.Friendly staff. Pleanty of bars and resteraunts close by although most menu's in spanish.Only problem we had was a very annoying noise from airconditioning and taxi very expensives.

Great Place to Stay!!!!

The hotel is very very nice, the staff was very helpful with all the questions we had, which were a few. The room was so nice we took ptictures of it. The Spa area great [palce to relax. WE only stayed one night because we were passing threw, but if we were going to stay for a few days this would be the place.

Nice hotel, clean and comfortable. Good outdoor swimming pool facilities - didnt use any of the other facilities such as the spa etc.

The one area that let this hotel down was the service in the restaurant. We were unable to get a table on the evening of our arrival despite there being plenty of free tables more than one hour before it was due to close. Secondly the breakfast buffet had very little hot food available on the first morning around an hour before breakfast was due to finish and there was only scraps of food available on the second morning about 45 minutes before breakfast finished. The staff were uninterested and not friendly or approachable. Would I recommend this hotel or stay there again - not sure.

Fantastic hotel if you have an early/late flight from Reus airport as less than 20mins away by car.
Hotel was clean and smart. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty to choose from - hot and cold, cereals, cakes, juice, hot drinks etc.
Room clean and huge. Bathroom lovely.
Pool was closed as in off season but indoor sauna and jacuzzi was great.
Only issue was around the bottle of cava \"included\" in the offer which did nto exist. Hotel blamed expedia for a translation error - some customers get a glass of warm/day old cava when they arrive.

Cena cara, 20 € bebida no incluida.
En conclusión, nos están cerrando las puertas a los que tenemos que trabajar fuera de casa.

Fue una salida de una noche, pedimos cama matrimonial y nos dan cama separada, tuvimos que volver a bajar del 5to piso para q nos cambien la tarjeta. Viendo que éramos una pareja nos dan una habitación que era compartida, solo nos dividía una puerta de la otra habitación que tenía niños. La cama hacia ruido y el colchón no era de lo más cómodo. No hay parking, tuvimos que dar varias vueltas hasta encontrar sitio.
