Everything was great except the housekeeping was not done in a proper manner. Our bathroom and toilet were not cleaned on the days we had housekeeping done. Staff was excellent. Hotel is in a great location with convenient public transport options and food and dining.

Loved the stylish design and modern vibe of the hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the location in Hongdae is perfect—close to cafes, shops, and nightlife. Would definitely stay again!

Shower door opened straight into the bedroom and would basically hit the bed so water would leak everywhere onto the floor. Sink, toilet, and shower are all in one area so once you shower you would be unable to go back inside to do anything or else your feet would get soaking wet. Absolutely no privacy as the bathroom is barely opaque and almost see through. Room had nowhere to sit and was dirty. Old building with elevator doors that close on you. There was also nowhere to sit/ barely any room to fit more than 2 small suitcases. Would recommend staying somewhere else. Only plus is that it is super close to shops and entertainment.

Not worth the price paid. The room was very dusty, including the bed, floor, and bathtub, which wasn’t even scrubbed, leaving stains and dust. Very disappointed and unimpressed. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay there. They only provided one towel for two guests.

Good location. Not a great hotel. The room given had no door handle, just a hole in the door where the handle used to be, so the door couldn't be closed. We were able to change rooms.
They also charge a fee to leave your luggage for a couple of hours after checking out. I have never heard of a hotel charging a fee to hold luggage.

Walls are thin and past midnight lots of loud people in the hallway. Lighting in the hallway is dark as we walk towards our room. There is no shower curtain in the bathroom so water everywhere after use. One elevator is old and just patched with brown paper around it. Lobby is very small. If you want to stay in cheap and convenience around Hongdae then this might be it but I didnt feel safe. The rooms looked like a dorm.

Staffs are helpful and efficient. Location is convenient with many dining options, nearest Hongik Univ subway station is 7 min. walk away. Drawbacks are... room is small for 4 adults, not enough space for 4 mid size luggages. Room lightings are insufficient, a bit dim even with all lights turned on. Toilet glass door is only partially glossed, hence can see through inside.

So easy to get to via the airport railroad. 711 right outside. Friendly staff that are there too help. Check in is at 3pm local time but they will store your bags up front.

We stayed in the family suite. Towels and bed linens were stained. We had to request new pillows because the two on the bed had huge stains. The same goes for towels. We requested new towels only to realized that our replacement was much more stained than the ones originally in the room. You could also tell the room cleaning was very subpar. The tub, which was huge, was disgusting. There was an old, left behind toothbrush by it that was obviously missed during cleaning. There were clumps of dust in corners of the room and by the nightstand. The toilet could've been cleaned better. There were brown stains in the area where everything gets flushed into like there wasn't much effort to clean in there. The walls were oddly dirty too. They had brown scuff marks all over and the room lacked any type of wall decor. It was a very very plain room. All night we heard a sound from above us that sounded like what I imagined was a water heater kicking on or an A/C unit.

The room was too dark, half the lights were out. The pillows were rock hard and the bedding felt old. The whole room was tired looking and had a lot of dust. It does not look like the pictures at all, I would not have stayed here for full price at all.

Location was good and easy to get anywhere in hongdae, haepjeong and sangsu, need to work on cleaning rooms, very dusty and the counter had something sticky, easily taken care of with wet wipes. Sometimes the bathtub is a part of the room so keep that in mind if you are booking with friends.
Staff was super friendly when we spoke with them, slightly nervous I think about speaking in English but I am never bothered by that. Building next door is under construction but that’s not the fault of the hotel, but be warned if you are a light sleeper in the AM.

The shower room door could not be closed. Rang Hotel reception and was advised to use towers to block the door and they will provide unlimited tower to dry the floor if water leaked out. It is a joke a shower door cannot be closed and was told all rooms are like this. BIG FAT LIE.

I was so surprised at how nice this place was!
I had a bath tube that could have fit 6 people in, the bed was fairly comfy for an Asian country and the property was just about 5 min walk from the subway and all the hustle and bustle that hongdea has to offer! I will always stay here when in Korea. And it was super cheap!

Honestly it was nothing like the images showed. The room was tiny with little to no space for the two of us to put our suitcases. the bed on the left side had broken bits falling off. Honestly the rooms were so basic and nothing like the images or the concept of the hotel. Was just overall disappointed as it was nothing like we expected. However the staff were very helpful and kind.

Place was in a great location, can always find something to do near by. Building/room design were good. However, not the most clean rooms. My bath tub had a film of what I hope was dust. And medsheet looked like it was stained with blood or something, but didn't realize it until my 3rd night so yeah. If you stay here just make sure to check its cleaness.

I've stayed here once before and it was great, but this time I was very disappointed. The room looked like it was under construction. Partially empty, no bedside table or plugs near the bed. The walls looked dirty and the random chair was dusty. There was no lighting in the bathroom. The toilet/shower door seemed to be broken. There was a woman's hair tie on the shower nozzle, making me wonder how well the room had been cleaned after the last guest. It felt like a love motel, which is disappointing for the price.

Checkin started at 3pm. Showed up at 4:30pm. Was told to wait for 45 minbefore being assigned a room. When we finally got there, it seemed like they just finished cleaning it (cleaning cart was still outsode in the hall), however, the room reeked of cigarette smoke. Notified the hotel staff and they didnt seem too concerned. Worst checkout and hotel experience I've had this year. So dosappointed...

Misrepresentation of the Standard room

The photos of the standard room does not reflect the actual room.. It is a bare looking room (not as shown in the profile pic) and the toilet is extremely dark. My room had the morning sun and it gets very hot by noon and I was not able to adjust the temperature inside (no aircon control). Given this knowledge, I will not book this hotel again.

Room smells heavily of cigarette smoke. It was a single bed room that they fixed to 2 separate beds. The bathroom isn't very functional. No shower curtain or place to set soaps -- on floor in front of toilet is best spot. If you turn on shower with full water pressure you'll be wrestling the shower head after you've soaked room, cieling and all. Key card says when breakfast is, but forgets to mention it is not free. Oops. The staff was nice, just not a whole lot they can do.

Very nice looking, clean. Staff were very friendly.

The lighting in the hotel was super dim by design. It looks kind of cool, but it's so dark you can hardly do you hair in the mirror.

They have some neat features -- like a little LCD screen that lets you control the lights and set the temperature. But the screen's brightness was way off and it was almost impossible to read.

this hotel is being sold at a rate of around 100usd. If visit the official website of the hotel, you can even find the rate of 200~250usd on basic rooms. the room condition was quite dissapointing compared with its price.

The hotel seems want to make the room high-end. The room with only one remote to control the AC, TV, and all light in the room and restroom. But it is not really convenient because you need to control everything with one remote.

I picked this hotel because of the location and the picture on the Expedia, the rooms looks stylish and big enough for 2 people with luaggages. However, it is too small for us to open 2 luggages at room in the same time.

The toilet is the kind with auto flushing and washing function. However the toilet is loose, the hotel didn't realize if and fix it. The restroom lighting is really limited. There are only 2 lights come out from the back of the mirror. It is not bright enough to use to see your face clearly.

The good thing is the AC is powerful.

This hotel is located in a great spot near lots of clubs/bars and super close to hongdae shopping street. However, it's pretty run down and not kept up. Our room had scuffs and dents all over it, the walls were dirty. While I understand hotels have very many rooms- our room looked nothing like any of the pictures posted on expedia. Wasn't the worst experience, but wouldn't book here again.

Was checking in at 5pm and at first they said our suite wasn’t ready yet but after some time they did they right thing and upgraded us to a royal suite which was ready so kudos to their staff for solving that matter in a customer service friendly manner. We had room 1601 which had an amazing view of Seoul. We were a short walk to all the night life of Hongdae and two major subway lines which was great. The free breakfast at the cafe at the bottoms of the hotel was very enjoyable with good breads, coffee, milk, oj, plus a plate of eggs, Bacon, sausage and salad. The earlier you get there the more options on types of breads. Room was decently appointed for the price but I wouldn’t say it was extremely luxurious if that is what you are looking for out of a suite. Not all the power outlets in our room worked and there weren’t many to begin with and the lighting was a bit dark but we made it work no big deal, but if you are super picky you may find that annoying. We enjoyed our stay and if we needed a dependable spot in a good location we would go back.

Stayed 1 night. Location was great. 2 mins walk from hapjeong station and 5 mins from Hongdae. Staff was nice. Not all of them spoke English but our minimal Korean was enough to get us by. It was quiet and we slept well.
The room however was in need of serious redecorating and most of all a good clean. There was hair all over the floor and the bed sheets and towels were stained. There was rubbish on the floor behind the bed and the bathroom floor in need of a good scrub.
I'm usually quite forgiving on the decor but the layout was rather impractical: there was a 1 inch step around the bed meaning you stubb you toes on every trip to the bathroom. The shower head in the wetroom was placed in such a way that it splashed everything in the room including the toilets, so nowhere to put towel or clothes.
We were on the top floor. Not sure what the rest is like but definitely avoid those.

The room is nothing like the photos on the website. The room finish is very bad, it is old and full of dust. The bathroom was badly designed, it gets flooded very very easily. And we were told that the air conditioning never work in the room. We will never stay there ever again. The only good thing is the location it is close to the station.

Nice hotel, very close to Line 2 (subway).

The hotel was in a great area close to Line 2 so it was easy to get around in Seoul. The room was always clean. I loved how the bathtub was right by the window so you could see the city. The Hongdae Market was only a couple blocks away so shopping and street food was easy to get to. Also there were plenty of cafes around and a 7 eleven across the hotel. The only downfall was the bed was pretty hard.

Great location, tiny room, good for solo stays

The hotel was very nice with great amenities. However, the standard room is tiny. I was very comfortable, but I couldn't spread out with my suitcase. It would be too small for two people for an extended stay, and the bathrooms often have strange setups. The bathroom is in a glass room with frosting and blinds, but others have the tubs outside the bathroom, which could be messy, humid, and awkward for a trip with friends. Overall, a positive trip.

I was in this hotel for a week this fall. I stayed in their twin room, double and royal suite during my week there, and, overall, would not recommend staying in any of these rooms. Some problems I experienced during my stay included a room that reeked of cigarettes, a broken shower head that soaked the entire bathroom, a twin bed that felt like sleeping on bricks (much nicer beds in the double room and suite) no hot water in the morning for a shower, very high temperature in the room that can only be controlled by calling the front desk (and after calling several times, still had a room that was too hot to sleep in), and being eaten alive by mosquitoes in each of the rooms I stayed in. Several times I had to wait for over 10 minutes to get one of the two elevators in the hotel. The shower in the twin room was so awkward to use, I ended up paying to use the sauna at a different hotel a few blocks down.

The location of this hotel is perfect, it is quiet and the views from the top floors are stunning. I would only stay here again if a suite on a top floor were available, and would only stay for a night or two. I had an amazing stay in Hongdae, but perhaps would rethink the hotel for a future visit.

Good location, bad rooms.

Stayed here for a 4nights trip in Seoul. Good things bout this place is that the location is like a 10mins walk to the popular area in hongdae and hapjeong. The stations are also only a few mins walk away frm the hotel. Theres also a 7-11 opposite the hotel so it's convenient in terms of picking stuffs up before u get back to ur room or when u start ur day. Bad thing is, the room was horrible. I've read the same thing from other reviews so i believed a lot had experienced the same thing i had. There's foundation marks on the bed sheets and the towels are almost grey and with some unknown dirts as well. (they're supposed to be white). The room will only function when the key card is plugged in, however theres only one key card given which means when u come back after a long day walk u will come back to a room with no air con on. U have to turn on the aircon by urself using the remote given by the way. Not to mention the room is very very small. My friend and I had two big suitcases with us at the time and we were already struggling places to put them in. And the shower room, I'm hoping its only in the room i stayed in but, stuffs in theres are like broken so it was an effort trying to shower without getting the bathroom soaking wet. Last but not least, even when you put the \"tidy room\" room sign up, NO ONE CLEANS OR TIDY UNLESS U TOLD THE LOBBY STAFFS U WANT TO GET ROOM DONE. So yeah.. thats pretty much all.

The free water in fridge does not fill up after 2nd day and so on. Pillow are seems with plastic bag inside, it is not comfortable. The beds are narrow.
Shower is broken. Hairdryer provide but AC plug is not close to the mirror. I need to use my phone camera as mirror.

On the first stay the toilet wouldn't flush properly. On the second stay the room on the 7th floor was horrible. The water from the bathroom would go out to the living room within 5 minutes of turning on the shower. I will never go back there. The staff did not do anything about it except give us more towels for us to clean up. It's a good location for the train but that's it. The rooms are small. It's not clean and the bathroom drains... Let's just say there isn't one and the staff don't care.

Just needed a room for the night before my flight the next day , the rooms at The Designers hotel were dingy and the rooms I looked at which were to be non smoking both smelled of smoke.My one other complaint was that the rooms all had smoked mirrors so it was hard to get ready in the morning. Seemed like a hotel that people just go to when they are too tired and drunk to make it home or just hooked up with someone for the night. I won't stay here again and would not recommend unless you are one of the afore mentioned individuals. Oh and the rooms are super dimly lit and the room had a broken lamp.

Nice stay

It's a nice time to stay in this hotel. The staff is very kind and helpful. Room was cleaned well and the facilities were really useful. Thanks for the services provided by the staff in the lobby. The check-in and check-out procedures are easy and convenient. Hope to stay in this hotel again very soon!

Small hotel, std hotel layout, no special design

The room is quite comfortable although a bit small and the cityview has nothing to see. The washing basin was dripping on the ground so the bathroom floor was all wet. I called for repair service and the staff (Oppa) came in about 10 minutes and fixed it. But then when I tried again, the water did not drain from the basin this time! So, I called again and the staff came and fixed it again in 10 minutes with an embarrassing smile. But overall, their service was OK, except the staff's English still have room for improvement.

We booked the royal suite, it was a very good experience! The bathroom is open concept, and the bath tub is huge! The bed is a little hard though but I Guess some prefer harder beds. The view is splendid!

This hotel is not as bad as some of the reviews would suggest. It was a nice hotel, perfectly adequate. There is definitely a weird mix of business travelers and young couples at this hotel. As for the complaints, my guess is they are mostly from the business set who feel entitled to moan about every single thing they charge to their company travel card. It wasn't dirty, although it didn't seem super new, and the beds were nice but hard (welcome to Korea).

That said I got the impression the hotel was trying to be fancy on the cheap. I would only say this hotel is worth it if you catch a discount (in which case it is worth it). Benikea-Hongdae is a step ahead of The Designers. At full price, you'd be better off saving your money and going to the plethora of cheaper guesthouses.

Only good for location, can find another better

We stay at Semi-suite this time. Dirty, staff not helpful, badly facilities. Good for location, 3mins form Exit 3 at Hapjeong-yeok.
We found the lighter at toilet which is left by last user when we check-in and dust is all around in the room, I have no idea why the cleaner keep open the window everyday after clean-up and let the dust come all around to the room.
The hair dryers and wardrobe door is damaged, we need to use the chair to keep the wardrobe door close.
The water keep come out form the toilet after shower and the bathtub is dirty, few hair is inside there.
Only good for location and devoid of any merit.

Looks good on the outside but....

Do not stay at this place. I thought since real interior designers decorated the place each room will be nice and unique. However the room was less than average of other motels; stains on the wall, dirty curtains and the bed was not comfortable. Once you enter the room, the colors of the room and the small space makes you think you entered a prision cell. Do not get excited by the room pics. I feel like it is deceptive advertising you will not get a room like the pics unless you pay for the suite or the most expensive room. To add to all this negativities the room is so dark I could not put make up on. Stay away and go somewhere else.

just ok hotel

Good location, nice room. Cons : bad housekeeping, the structure of the shower was bad since all the water was coming out when we took shower and the floor got wet, no laundry service, even though it was written that they had laundry service. I do not think, I would like to stay here again..
