Great location But Not Comfortable or Personable

Loved the location, the kitchen and the layout as well as the landscaping. However, the living room furniture and bed were not comfortable to sleep or sit on. There was supposed to be a \"Welcome\" package in our room -- there wasn't. Couldn't figure out how to get on the internet and no one on the front desk knew how either. Wasn't keen on the fact that there was not a human on the front desk to interact with. It was all done through cameras and very automated. It didn't feel very personal.

Great accommodations. Great location it is central to everything. Nice place to stay.

Communication of staff is somewhat like pulling teeth but were courteous. Be specific with your questions and just FYI your door key opens the gated entrance once you check in. That was not relayed.

Overnight ski stay

My sweet and I ski alot out in the Tahoe area. We brought some echange students with us this past weekend and since we most often stay at the Casino Hotels we opted to do something different considering they are teenagers. This was a great choice. Really great value, comfy and clean. Heck we may return there on our own as a option to the Casino Hotels.

The condo was clean and had basic kitchen needs for the most part. Unfortunately the A/C wasn't working well or at all, so it was warm in the unit. Nice outdoor pool/jacuzzi that the kids enjoyed. Overall comfortable and clean place to stay.

I was not expecting a totally non personal interaction - video screen phone check in and gate entry.
The property itself seemed very nice and I think the room was probably pretty clean but the antiquated state of our room made it seem unclean and there was a distinct aroma of cleaning fluid. Sorry would not recommend or stay there again.

Very reasonable price for nice location

Checking in was a novel experience with an off-premises agent visible on a big monitor behind the counter! You lift the receiver to speak with them, and put your I.D. and credit card in scanner on the countertop. Then pick up your welcome kit on a printer and the plastic room keys from another little machine! We stayed twice, a few days apart, on our way to Vegas and then on our way back.
1st time, we arrived 3 hours before the specified 4 pm check-in and room wasn't ready yet, so we drove around and found a nearby CVS store to buy a few essentials. Came back about 50 minutes later and were able to check in early. That first afternoon there was a concierge in a nearby room to answer questions and handle concerns. 2nd time through we arrived later and no concierge, but there's access via room phone to any needed department. They even offer room service food, though we didn't try it.
The 2 bedroom units are 2 story with bedrooms and a full bath with tub and shower upstairs; kitchen, dining, living areas, half-bath (toilet and sink only) and small private patio downstairs.
The stairs are steep and narrow but metal railings are sturdy so unless you have serious knee issues you shouldn't have too much trouble. Dragging luggage up and down from there was a bit awkward but doable. I might hesitate a bit if travelling with a baby or toddler. Larger bedroom has a king size bed & includes a sink and mirror, the other bedroom has 2 twin beds which are fine for small children but a bit narrow and short for anyone taller than 5 ft. 5 inches. I wished they offered an option for queen bed in the second room, but for the price and a short stay it was fine. The private patio was nice, but we had to use a bunch of paper towels and water to clean the resin table and chairs which had some bird droppings, dust and plant debris on them. Everything else was quite clean and in good condition. Floors downstairs were a dark cherrywood color laminate, pleasant, but your feet will get black if you walk around barefoot (only to be expected, since people walk over them with dirty outdoor shoes). The 2nd unit we stayed in (#273) had a noticeable right to left slope to the floor, as if foundation sank a bit, but otherwise both units were practically identical. No condiments, just salt & pepper on dining table. Lots of glassware & plenty of dishes, pots, pans, & utensils.
Outdoor pool and hot tub/spa are nice. I'd have loved to stay longer.

Got to give it a try!!

We were here for a tournament this memorial weekend. Hotels prices were crazy!!! We lucked out and found this really nice 2 bedroom condo with lots of space and renovated. I would recommend it for families. Also nearby is a great BBQ restaurant up the block. It’s just minutes from Reno

I specifically booked a ground floor room (which cost more) but was initially put in an upstairs room. My room wasn't stocked with coffee despite having a coffee maker and filters. Despite those issues, I enjoyed the hotel and my time in the Reno area. The staff were very personable which countered any displeasure I had.

What I liked was the space in the room and available cooking utensils.
What I didn’t like was that I had BED BUG BITES!!!!!
They failed to inform a NONrefundable resort fee which was a little over $13 a night ON TOP of the tax fee and the price to stay the 2 nights. I also didn’t get the room I had reserved for ( a standard condo WITH a fireplace ).
Completely overcharged the entire stay!

I carried a \"paid in fuil\" receipt to the reservation desk and was charged another $39 for what was called a resort fee.
Because this place chooses to handle customers remotely through a telephone line and a live image of a clerk on a screen, there was no way to protest. Room keys and a site map are dispensed by machines after one enters a credit card. The apparently only clerk on duty was extremely busy, (he was also the gate operator to get a car into this place) and it took a long time for him to attend to my reservation when I showed up.
I request a refund of my $39.
The accommodation itself was adequate, though spartan. It was clean. The kitchen was well equipped.

Perfect and most self contained fully equipped \"apartment - suite\" in a non-casino resort available. Full Kitchen, stocked and ready for cooking own meals, lovely grounds...spacious, all \"one bedroom\" (or more) seperate rooms from living room/kitchen....minimum two televisons per accomodation...great stay like a home away from home! We had a very good stay! We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom unit due to the 1 bedrooms being oversold. This two story townhouse looked to have been renovated within the past couple of years. It was very clean, very large and with cozy beds. Wonderful kitchen! This will be my place of choice when in the Reno/Sparks area

Funky check in done over the phone in office is strange and lacks a welcoming feeling but accommodations are wonderful.. The condo is very comfortable and the grounds well kept and very nice. Good location with easy off/on interstate. Would highly recommend. Definitely a family favorite.

We stay 3 nights, but we got sop supplies, lotion and shampoo paper towel container was empty only for one . The person in the front desk need to have a training in diversity awareness . We are Hispanic, my husband first language it is English. She assumed that we don't speak English. That was offensive. We have many Spanish speaker friends, that we will tell about this nice place, but you need to give class about cultural awareness to your staff. Up dated the Tv in the bedroom. to small for my sight

The property was well watered and well kept. There's a moment after the \"virtual check in\" where you're sent to a room with a women trying to book you for a timeshare pitch and, if you say \"no thank you-we're just here for vacation\", she'll throw you dirty looks for the rest of your stay. She doesn't like to hear you aren't interested! The carpet in our room was badly stained and the couch cushions were completely broke down. We still had a great time though.

When our party of 4 arrived, we were greeted by a virtual desk clerk via a phone. She could not find us our room even though we had paid in advance when we reserved. We waited 30+ minutes for a room, it was unacceptable. It had new paint and new carpet smell, and there were no drapes on the windows. We asked for another room but there were none available. A second group of 3 who were with us and who booked a similar room, but there were none to be had. They were then assigned 2 rooms, but one of them had not been cleaned by housekeepers yet (at 10 pm). All 7 of us had to find another hotel at 10:30 pm.

You get the impression that they trust in believe in you and they give you all the Comforts of home as far as utensils to use pots pans bowls spoons knives everything you can conceivably need in your own house is in but the rental unit. And because they treat you so well you treat them so well back.

Presented as 2 story with fireplace, received single story on ground floor with no fireplace. Unit was clean, linens were fine, great hot water and pressure in shower...but a LOT of deferred maintenance issues. Example: Shower/tub enclosure was old and did not shut properly, tub was unusable as a tub -only used as shower, no stoppers in tub or bathroom sinks. Curtains in bedroom and living room did not close smoothly, kitchen faucet dripped, couch sagged badly, drawers were off of gliders, furniture was old. Front gate had some extreme delays in opening. Outside yards and reflection areas were lovely.

Great place - hidden find with no casino in sight. Virtual check-in was different and interesting. Full clean kitchen with all glassware and cutlery provided.
Big modern TV in living area, small older CRT model in bedroom.

Worst hotel ever!

Couldn’t stay here because it was basically a section 8 housing. Carpet was at least 20 years or more old. Smelled like mold and cigarettes. Had what looked like homeless people in the parking lot right in front of our room. Should had known before we checked in when there wasn’t even a person at the front desk rather a TV screen with a video camera only. They wouldn’t refund my money and I blame Expedia for putting us in that situation in the first place. Won’t be using you or any of my family and friends again in the future!

Central Location, close to highways

Nice, easy, close to highway I-80 makes getting to anywhere very simple. Some surprises: this is a time share property, so be prepared for a sales pitch or at the very least a request for you to listen to one. There is also not a person at the front desk, there is a TV screen and phone with a desk and computer...it's very impersonal and odd. But, the room is clean, the water is hot, the bed is comfortable... there are far worse stays out there that cost more. I would stay here again.

decided to book here for a two-day family trip. The kitchen option and pull out mattress were the primary reasons I chose this place. Upon arrival, check in was a strange experience. Someone on a TV screen directs you to pick up a phone and talk to them. The check-in process is done remotely and is very impersonal. When I arrived at my room I realized it was not a downstairs unit as requested. There was also no crib as requested. This was very difficult for me traveling with an 8 month baby and luggage. When I got inside I noticed the carpet was dirty but hadn't anticipated it being spotless anyway. The pull out mattress had no sheets or blankets and there were no extra pillows. When I called the front desk they sent housekeeping. the Maid knocked on a door two doors down while on her cell phone. When I asked if the blankets you were scaring were from my room she said oh maybe and then handed them to me. I asked for pillows and she said she hadn't had extra pillows for a couple of weeks. This place needs to stock up on supplies and Try to be more accommodating. Yes it's old, yes it's outdated, but those weren't the issues that I had a difficult time with. The bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on. It was very hard. The bedding however was clean, which is anticipated, but that's the only upside.

Quiet and great location

Enjoyed my stay. I had a standard condo and was able to cook breakfast with the utensils there in the available kitchen. The grocery store was super close with affordable prices. The water was warm and the place was heated. I gave it 4 stars because the carpet didn't seem like it was vacuumed when I arrived. I used a foam roller and was down on the carpet and it was a little dirty. The staff offered to vacuum it on my 2nd day there, but I'm not sure they actually did.

Really shocked at how nice the place was! Just didn’t expect the gated entry, pool, hot tub, fitness area, and suite life. Super comfortable for a quick overnight stay while one a road trip. However, several little things made it look like someone had been in the room without it being totally reset. Dishes in sink, wet towel on counter, towels in bathroom also looked used and out of place. Not enough to worry me though.

Good price for a time share condo.

Condo was spacious and clean. Furniture had been updated but was of low comfort. Complex nicely taken care of.

One complaint. Overzealous security confronted my 30 year old daughter who was on the first floor deck. Accused her of having a party of more than 6 people in the Unit where the four of us were staying. Apparently this discourteous individual had the wrong condo. He never apologized for the mistake.

Timeshare ... nightmare hotel

I was placed in my first room, it was dirty and hadn't been cleaned by housekeeping from previous person, next room the bathtub/shower water control handles were torn apart, 3rd room the bed was awful, blue shower gel/soap still on the shower wall by now it's 830pm and I had traveled from Oregon and Worked all day so I just stayed, no housekeeping all week. timeshare property and they try to get to to come to a meeting after you check in by phone with the other person on a webcam and they send you over to an actual person to pitch.. On Friday morning at 8am I get a knock on the door and it's House keeping asking me when I plan on checking out so they can clean.. I never had this kind of experience and for it being a timeshare one would expect more. I mentioned this to the timeshare lady and she tells me well we are doing construction and been busy. Will never stay here again

I should have went to nugget. Check in is weird, I didn't know I was getting a room upstairs and there is no elevator or bell boy. No ice in the freezer. The girl on the monitor at the desk was wearing a hoodie and had messy hair. Obvious she doesn't care and she was quite smarty. I supposed to have a room with a fireplace and there's not one. The room smelled like per. They did come spray air freshener and bring me ice. The carpet is gross. I didn't think I was going to get the shower on! Something is wrong with the handle! I have no heat and am waiting for someone to Look at it and I'm ready for bed freezing my butt off!

Nice resort club, unbelievably cheap

We stayed in the hotel for one night in summer 2017, and the resort is amazing. Very pleasant. Lots of trees, a lake, and sheltered parking spaces. We were in a two-floor townhome, with 2 upstair bedrooms, nice decorated full kitchen, a very large living room, and a balcony facing the beautiful outdoor scene on the first floor. There is also a table and several chairs on the balcony so that you can sit and enjoy the view there. We had a wonderful time.
The only thing I don't like is we have to communicate through video/phone with the staff at the front desk, which makes the check-in and check-out process extremely long and not convenient. Wish we could talk to a real person in the future.
Overall, this is a great great deal, and we will come back if we ever visit Reno again!

Stayed in the two bedroom unit. More of an apartment than a hotel. Nice kitchen in the unit, great setup for my family. Heated pool so my kids got to swim in January and the pool table / ping pong and foosball were fun too. In need of a refurnishing. Brought video game system and only one of the three TV's took HDMI and the free internet was pretty worthless, just used my phone for tethering. You may also get asked to a timeshare meeting, but they didn't pursue it or harrass after I said no so that wasn't too bad. The check-in is via video screen and so is the front gate access, had to wait to get in and to check in due to the person not being located there and being busy.

Like an Apartment!

We were so happy with all of the extras here, especially the kitchenette. We were able to cook our meals with ease and didn't have to clean first. The couch was very comfortable. The bathroom is huge! Two sinks and a large shower. The bed was comfy and clean. We'll definitely stay here next time we're in the area. It's not a room- it's a home away from home!

My family loved it

We loved this resort, We loved it so much we extended our stay a night!! After reading some of the reviews (not so good) we weren't to sure on what to expect and let me tell you it was great ! Yes some of the furniture is outdated but it gives you the home away from home feel and the set up Was overall beautiful. The pool was heated , the spa was lovely it was stocked with towels nearby & breakfast was simple yet fulfilling. The only thing that was off was the tiny TV in the bedroom. Other then that if your looking for simple family time this is the place to go! Oh and the virtual front desk I loved it lol good job guys see you again soon

The property is tired and needs attention. They don't have a live person on site after 5 pm when everything is done remotely. My back still hurts from the lumpy mattress.

Roomy and retro in a fun kind of way

What we didn't understand when we arrived was that the Thunderbird is, first and foremost, not a hotel but rather a time share -- which makes a certain number of rooms available on the hotel market through Orbitz.

This is not to say that there is anything deceptive -- there is absolutely no attempt made to market the time share units (I don't even know if any units are available), and the staff was surprised when they heard that we booked through Orbitz.

The facility is fairly large and features a relaxing (as opposed to lap) swimming pool and an exercise room. Breakfast is served only on Thursday mornings, plus a continental breakfast on Saturdays. This is because, again, the place is a time share and all the rooms come with full kitchen including full-size (not hotel-size) refrigerator. We hit the Thursday breakfast and found ourselves in the midst of a very congenial group of regulars.

The \"room\" we had was really a one-bedroom apartment and very spacious. Lots of closet space and two sinks in the bathroom area. But there was a definite 1960s retro feel with Formica surfaces, veneer hollow core doors -- and a tube TV in the bedroom! Remember those? The living room did provide a flat screen TV, so that was OK.

Would we do it again? I think so. My first impression was \"tatty\" but that was unfair. Retro and \"old school\" would be more accurate. A little paint is needed here and there on the grounds but overall it was a fun 24 hours.

Has good potential but very rundown and dirty

Grounds are pleasant and spacious and structure of rooms is pleasant and comfortable. However maintenance and upkeep is very bad. We have visited for a number of years (have family in Sparks) and seen steady decline in quality, repair and cleanliness. The timeshare units are somewhat better maintained than the rentals. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The carpet was filthy and furniture dirty & worn.\n

Would not stay there again. Carpets were full of stains. The furniture was worn and broken and dirty. The only nice looking thing about the whole place was the entrance gate and the lobby. The kitchen had mismatched silverware and the coffeepot was stained.

Lady on screen at check in was rude, were not able to check in until 5 hours after check in time because rooms were not ready, the whole 7 days we were there not once did they go clean our place but I think they charged a cleaning fee.

Dated. But we'd stay here again and for longer.

We stayed only one night visiting our son at UNR. It is a gated entrance and everything including check-in was done virtual, never had a \"real body\" experience. It was very hot in Reno that night so turning off the AC was not an option which turned out the AC was loud. Room was a 1 bedroom condo with full kitchen and huge \"pit\" couch. It was clean yet dated but overall comfortable. We couldn't find spare pillows or blankets. Both our boys liked it and said they'd come back. The grounds and pool were nice. HOWEVER hotels.com states an \"arcade\" which the boys were interested in and were disappointed to find out the \"arcade\" consisted of a pool table and 1 video game. We stayed on the 2nd floor and the handrail just outside our room (954) felt less than safe as one of my boys leaned on it and thought they were taking a quick trip to the ground floor, otherwise known as unsafe.
All said, we plan on coming back and staying longer to enjoy the area.
