Self check-in but they did not give a room number so was a bit lost when we arrived. 'Make Up The Room' meant change the towels and nothing else. Entrance untidy and dingy but the room was okay.

The property is superbly located to explore the old town. The main square is 10 mins walk along the route are restaurants and gift shops along with a few interesting bars. The hotel is within an old building which should not be mistaken as charm. The room I had was located on the top floor without the benefit of a lift in fact it best described as an attic room very small and as it was located in the roof area it was hot with only a tiny un curtained window which didn’t open to provide air which in the summer would be unbearable. A small token fan was provided which was inadequate. On the plus side the shower was excellent bathroom was just fine. The room was small with the smallest gap between the bed and chest of drawers the room came with fried and safe. The Wi-Fi just didn’t work no matter what you did. The reception was manned during the day and we were able to leave bags for safe keeping after check out which was at 12:00 which was helpful. In summery not dreadful but not the most luxurious either.

Stay in triple room for 5 nights. Very convenient location in old town. Accessible to attraction places and good restaurants. Enjoy the christmas market nearby. Walking distance (20 min) to ferry terminal D for cruise to Helsinki. Same buffet breakfast served throughtout our stay.

We realised that the room we booked had no window which obviously has it’s drawbacks. However the room was clean an up to standard for a hotel in this price bracket. The staff were helpful and the breakfast sufficient for most tastes. Would stay again at this hotel in this beautiful city.

It looked very charming, but I wanted a double bed and not two separate single beds in my room, which was very annoying! There was no shower gel or shampoo in the bathroom. The window was troublesome because when you open it, anybody in the terrace can peer inside and if you're hot, you need to open it and sacrifice privacy for this. Other than that, it was quite a pleasant stay, a fridge was included for our personal use, the free breakfast was clearly laid out and met our expectations. The staff were helpful and spoke good English and Russian, and allowed us to keep our luggage for a few hours after we checked out, which was very much appreciated! I would return if we got a larger room, more privacy and a double bed.

The room was very comfortable. This is a lovely old hotel which has kept many original features but has updated the comfort aspect to a high specification. The bedroom was large, comfortable bed and a good sized bathroom. Breakfast was substantial.

This was a fantastic place to stay. Very affordable, the rooms are great, the front desk staff delightful. I would definitely stay here again. I was worried reading some of the negative comments, but I was pleased to find out that I made a good decision to stay here.

There are no elevators. So, request a lower room if you have heavy bags. The breakfast was really good with plenty of options. Convenient location within the old city.

A hotel that you need to feel !!!

Authentic hotel in old town, something that is nice to experience! The room was small, we did not have a closet in it and it was a little uncomfortable that 4 days we constantly opened and closed the suitcases. And the toilet (the bathing area) was really small, too. If you are not looking for comfort, everything else was very nice.
The breakfast was always the same, and the menu was not very rich ... Anyway, I warmly recommend this hotel, because it deviates in a positive sense.

Nice but small.

Good location in old town inside the city walls. The building is old but clean and updated. Nice patio to sit out on in the evening. Staff was helpful but unconcerned. Stayed in a basement room which was tiny but cute. Very low ceilings in the halls. Duck when walking. Maybe the upper rooms are larger. Don't book the basement if you are afraid of cramped spaces.

Avoid this hotel

When I arrived at the hotel the receptionist had just put up a notice saying \"back in 5 minutes\" and she said to me she would be back in five minutes and went off on her coffee break. I was left standing there for much more than 5 minutes. She then asked me for a €50 cash deposit to pay in advance for anything I might take from the minibar in the room. This is the first time in my life that I was asked for a cash deposit for the minibar (which I never use). The receptionist also asked me to sign a paper declining any responsibility of the hotel for items stolen from the room. I got into the lift and there was a notice to say that there would be no water in the hotel that day from 13 to 19 hours. I had asked for a quiet room and was given a very noisy room on the busy street side of the hotel. Immediately I saw that the curtains were so thin that they were useless. I asked the receptionist to change my room. She could have moved me from the east to the west side of the building, but she refused. So I was woken up at 4.15am by the sun pouring into my room (as it is nearly mid-summer). By 6am my room was like an oven. No human being could sleep with the bright sun shining right onto their face. I am completely amazed that this hotel has four stars. It should be reduced to two stars. It is also in a very bad location for a tourist, as it takes 25 minutes to walk to the beginning of the old city (at a normal walking speed).

Very near to Fat Margaret Tower and tram and bus stop. Within the old town so only a few minutes from main sights and restaurants.

Serves its purpose. Breakfast room is very small and is almost always packed. Same food everyday. Location is great, cant be beat. The rooms are tiny and the walls are very thin, i could hear when my neighbors got a text message they are that thin. The beds are essentially mats on top of a table so to speak. If you are only there to sleep, it will work.

It was a lovely stay. Excellent location right in old city but also able to easy leave the walled city. It was so much fun being in this lovely 600 year old building. Staff was extremely helpful. Buffet breakfast supplied hot and cold cereals, toast, some eggs, beverages, some cold cuts. I just had a great time in tallin and enjoyed this hotel.

Right in the Old Town

Conveniently located hotel. The cheapest rooms will likely have you located in the basement, which is not comfortable to access for tall people. Very little noise isolation! The next-door guests were very loud, you could hear everything. Facing the street, you hear cars and outdoor conversation all the time. It doesn't help that tourist groups organize right in front of the hotel too, so you will likely be waken up early by tour groups talking about the buildings across. Ask for extra pillows, because you are better off sleeping on your arm. I also made the bed better than the staff, so that could also be improved. Good for those who plan on being outside most of the time, and just need a safe and convenient place to sleep for the night. Located next to St. Olaf's Church, so it is easy to locate from the winding streets of the Old Town.

We stayed here for nine days in 2016 and although the room was small I gave it a good review mainly because of the excellent location. This time our room was even smaller, cramped, hot and stuffy. Opening a window was possible but with the noise of construction across the street from early until late did not allow for much relief. Worst was that the neighbors either above or next door spent 45 minutes moving around doing god knows what before going to bed and again as soon as they got up. Being an old refurbished building sound travels. It is still difficult to beat the location, but unless you sleep like a log and don't need air, be very careful with your choice of room. Some rooms are near very public places such as off the reception or even the breakfast room. Some have no window and/or no private bathroom. Next time in Tallinn, we will pay more and stay elsewhere.

Decent value in Tallinn

Great location inside the old town. Easy walk to the main square and ferry terminals. Very convenient location with lots of restaurant choices nearby. Room was small but may be norm for the area. For the price we paid we thought it a very good value. Stayed here for three nights and would do so again. Breakfast was basic and having stayed at multiple hotels for 20+ days of traveling in Scandinavia, breakfast could be improved with a few more choices. We stayed on the third floor and the wifi worked great. Bed was very soft. Could not figure out if that is normal for Scandinavia, but this mattress if you could call it that was really too soft with not much support.

Comfortable, Clean, Convenient Hotel in Old town

My partner and I spent three nights in April, having a double room (the basement, no window room). The room was a bit small, however very very clean, with good soft beds and very well-organised bathroom. We were afraid that it would be cold, but on the contrary, the room was almost boiling hot, so we were very happy. The breakfast was generous, plenty to choose from. The hotel staff was very efficient and helpful.

The hotel from the outside and in reception looked amazing. My room was on the first floor. No lift and carrying a suitcase up a twisty flight of stairs. The room had no windows and felt like there was no fresh air. Also the bathroom sink could have been cleaner.

We loved our stay at Gotthard!

The room, 205, was small, but efficient and very clean. The shower was great, beds comfortable. The view is superb!

The hotel is steps from the Christmas Market and right in the heart of Old Tallinn. Perfect location.

The staff was kind, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful, traditional Estonian fare.

We definitely recommend the Gotthard.

Loved this place. Had read pretty bad reviews and chose it thinking location was good and I could manage the criticisms. My room was beautiful-authentic architecture common in the Old Town of Tallinn, wonderful bathroom with pretty blue tiling, good lighting, entry to room with coat hooks/hangers, mini bar fridge-didn't discover til the 3rd day!, desk and TV. Super quiet and great location at the top of one of the main streets of the Old Town. People working in the lobby were consistently helpful and went beyond expectations the first night helping me out with email on a late arrival. Breakfast is in a nice room-decor in keeping with the time period-clean, plentiful and varied. Great experience. They even helped me out providing a lunch box as I had an early flight on departure before breakfast started.

Ideally located in Old Town Tallinn. Ease of walking to every area. No need for car or taxis. If you are looking for a fairly priced clean room for an individual or two adults consider this hotel. No frills, average breakfast. Caution, if elderly or have challenges with steps do not book here. Many stairs, winding staircase and low ceiling. Also, when carting luggage it becomes a challenge, especially climbing stairs with your belongings.

Super hotel within city walls old town.

Great location for city walks and tours, make sure you get and make the most of the Tallinn card - saves a lot of money. The room was very clean and comfortable with a fridge, could have done with air con and a bigger TV but otherwise ok. Breakfast was included but could have had a bit more of a hot selection but it was ample. We were able to leave bags on check out to make full use of our time in Tallinn.

Tallinn the truth!

After reading some negative reviews, we were slightly worried about this hotel. However, our fears were groundless. Room very comfortable, quiet and clean. Breakfast, whilst almost the same everyday, was plentiful and filling. Maybe fresh fruit and fruit juices would be an improvement. Hotel staff were quiet but pleasant.
The location of the hotel couldn't be bettered and excellent for exploring the Old Town but also near to many newer attractions.
Had a very enjoyable week in Estonia.

Siisti ja miellyttävä hotelli, mutta en aio palata

Hotelli sijaitsi hyvässä paikassa, oli siisti ja tunnelmallinen, mitä odotimmekin. Toisen kerroksen huoneessamme oli ikkuna, mutta se oli turha sillä ikkunasta näkyi noin metrin päässä ollut viereinen seinä. Kylpyhuone oli todella siisti ja tyylikäs, mutta myös todella pieni. Emme tosin käyttäneet suihkua vierailun aikana, sillä kävimme kylpylöissä.

Aamupala oli mekko yksinkertainen, mutta riittävä. Aamupalalla tosin oli ruuhkaa ja tarjonnan täydennystä joutui odottelemaan, mutta kaikkea sai.

Suurin pettymys oli sänky, joka oli niin pehmeä että yöunet jäivät katkonaisiksi huonon nukkuma-asennon vuoksi. Vaikka hotelli on vanhassa kivitalossa, niin huoneiden välillä äänieristys osin heikko ja molempina öinä kuului naapuriasukkaan kuorsausta. Toisena yönä heräsin hotellin käytävältä kuuluneeseen naisen kovaääniseen puheeseen, josta kävin huomauttamassa ja se onneksi loppuikin.

Hyvin kohtuu hintainen hotelli Tallinnan vanhan kaupungin laidalla. Satama lähellä sekä raitiovaunupysäkki. Huoneessani oli kattoikkuna, hyvät sängyt ja hyvä kylpyhuone. Huone oli pieni mutta siisti, vuodevaatteet ja sängyt olivat puhtaat ja hajuttomat.
Hintaan kuului myös aamiainen joka oli kattava, mm. makkaraa ja munakasta.

Det er ekstra fint å bo i gamlebyen når du er i Tallinn og oppholdet svarte omtrent til forventningene. Det er godt at det finnes billige alternativ med bra standard.
Vakkert interiør. Rommet og badet var lite, men senga var god. Stille område. God frokost.
Ønsket meg et rom med vindu og fikk det, men utsikten var rett inn i en vegg. Bør opplyse på forhånd at ikke alle rom har vindu.

Hotellin sijainti oli loistava, vanhassa kaupungissa. Hotelli oli tyylikäs ja ainutlaatuinen. Huoneet olivat yksilöllisiä ja aivan riittävän kokoisia ja tasoisia parin päivän vierailuun. Miinusta tulee aamupalasta, joka jätti nälkäiseksi. Kylmiä, epämiellyttävän näköisiä nakkeja ja lihapullia, kuivettunutta puuroa ja pahan hajuisia \"surullisia\" munia. Samalla aamiaishoitajaa kävi sääliksi, miten ergonomisesti hän hoiti astioiden ja ruoka-astioiden kantamisen.

Mye for pengene

Jeg sov der en dag, sengene er komfortable, hyggelig besetning og sentral plassering. Det var litt lytt med tanke på støy fra gaten. Men ellers så får man mye for pengene her.

Huoneen varaus netistä

Huoneen varaus netissä meni jotenkin oudosti. Koska en nähnyt huonetta jonka olin varannut.
Näin kyllä kuvan jossa oli normaali ikkuna ja sänky. Mutta kun tulin hotelliin. Huone olikin kellarissa, pienellä ikkunalla. En pysty nukkumaan sellaisessa.
Onneksi sain vaihdettua huoneen ja se oli ihan hyvä. Kaikki muuten hyvin
Mutta netti aukeama ilmeisesti huono.
Koska yleensä kun olen varannut netistä, olen saanut auki huoneen oikeat kuvat.

Wie eine alte Villa. Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Mitten im Zentrum - leider vis a vis eine Weinbar, wo die ganze Nacht gefeiert wird und deshalb laut.

Uniiki hotelli. Huone kellarissa oli hauska mutta ikkunasta jalkakäytävälle kuului kaikki äänet ja sänky oli huono.

Basic hotel. We both got a bad stomach after the basic breakfast buffe. Our room was adjacent to the breakfast line so quite noisy early in the morning. Good internet though and well situated in the old town.

Pieni huone kellarissa ilman ikkunoita, tuli hieman klaustrofobinen olo. Suihku ihan siisti. Aamiainen melko yksinkertainen. Ei jatkoon.

Le calme au cœur de la vieille ville

Un établissement idéalement placé dans la vieille ville. Créées dans les remparts de la ville les chambres trouvent leur place dans les recoins de couloirs. Ce qui fait tout son charme!! Par contre attention !Escalier raide pour accéder au 3ème étage et sans ascenseur!!

La situacion del hotel es inmejorable,las instalaciones estan limpias y bien cuidadas,pero el colchon era horrible,fino,blando y totalmente deformado,por lo que se dormia muy mal. el cuarto de baño estaba muy limpio pero el espacio donde estaba el wc era ridiculamente pequeño,alguien un poco grande no podria sentarse

Välinpitämätön henkilökunta. Huoneessa ei WC toiminut, eli ei voinut huuhdella.Asia kerrottiin henkilökunnalle sekä huoneeseen saapuessa, mutta mitään ei asian hyväksi tehty. Piti käyttää yleistä WC:tä, joka oli käytävässä. Huoneen näkymä oli vastapäisen rakennuksen ikkuna n. 60 cm:n päässä ja ikkunalaudat törkyiset lintujen jätteistä. WC toimimattomuudesta mainittiin vielä check outin yhteydessä.

Sijainti hyvä, huone pieni ja kuuma. Suihku kasteli koko wc:n. Kulku huoneeseen osittain estynyt käytävällä lojuvien pyykkisäkkejen vuoksi. Aamiainen niukka.

Personality and vintage. I loved the big, joined balcony, where we had To enter threw the big Windows 😅 Only minus was, that you could See inside the room while smoking a cigarette... Breakfast was okay, I asked for a glutenfree choose while making the reservation, but it was ignored. Breakfast was Good, but I hoped for anything, that had no glutein In it. Cornflakes was maybe the thing, tho 🤔 There were Not enough tables for everyone, so breakfast was very crowded. Location of the Hotel was perfect, you can walk everywhere, and there Is Rim (a little supermarket) nearby, and actually many of them max. 700m from the Hotel. Our room for three was nice, clean and it was cool, Not Hot. I would Come again. A Good room for a nice price. Not suitable for People with physical challenges: many steps, very narrow staircase.
