The check in the man was rude pretended to not speak English. 5 min later we catch him in full English conversation. We were not given any details about breakfast, pool or spa. Had to wonder around and try to figure it all out. Couldn’t get in anywhere to use hot tub or pool. Breakfast was packed and limited food. So if you were not there 1st you basically got nothing.

If you are looking for a super clean, simple place to stay where the staff is very friendly and the views are fantastic, look no further than the Hali Country Hotel. We were very pleased with our two-night stay and really enjoyed the dinners we had at the restaurant. The continental breakfast was also very good.

We enjoyed our stay at Hali country hotel. It was very close the Jokulsarlon and Diamond Beach. Our room was clean and comfortable. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the seafood soup and the artic char were both delicious. The included breakfast buffet was good as well. After dinner, we walked through the museum on the property, which we thought was interesting. Our only complaint was that the one communal fridge was very small and we couldn't put any of our food in it. (Just so you can prepare for that). Overall, great stay and would recommend.

The bed was too soft and springy and the coffee machine didn’t work in the morning (when you need it!). On a positive note, the restaurant served some great food and service was good and friendly. It’s best not to unload your bags right away when checking in, as the rooms are located about 400 meters further down the property, closer to the sea. The route to the rooms takes you past several residential-looking buildings and a commercial property. Check-in was very quick—no passport was needed.
Room 13:
The room was a decent size, featuring two chairs, side tables, a dresser with a chair, and a basic white cupboard. The decor was very simple: baby blue walls with white wooden furniture. It was quite warm inside, with a lovely view of the mountains. However, there were no in-room coffee or tea-making facilities—these are available in a communal building with a coffee station and shared seating area.
The bed was not very comfortable—more of a limp twin setup than a proper double. There was no kettle, no shampoo, conditioner, or body lotion provided. However, a hairdryer was available. The blackout curtains were ineffective, letting in a significant amount of light at night.
Bathroom:
Surprisingly spacious, but there was a small window that looked directly toward a neighboring building, which raised some privacy concerns—though it did help with ventilation.

I loved it here in the middle of nature. The hotel lobby had free coffee and tea I could grab any time. There is a sigular communal mini fridge in the lobby if you needed to store one or two things. Check-in was easy at the reception that was in the restaurant/museum building separate from the building with the rooms. We ate at the restaurant and I enjoyed the tender Arctic Char. A bit pricey, but nice after a long day.

Very good location for visiting the glacier and lagoon. Nice restaurant and included breakfast. Also included was a visit to a museum on site about a famous Iceland writer. Rooms were comfortable and had a good amount of space. Hot water takes time to heat but it’s not too long. Staff were helpful and friendly.

It was all around just mediocre. The only real down side was that staff hadn’t shown up the day of check in. So in turn we had to wait about 45 minutes in the lobby for our room to be ready. Not a horrible place just don’t expect much.

We had a great experience staying at Hali. The pictures of the property on Expedia kept us wondering what we are going to get but were amazingly surprised with what we got! It was full upper level of a beautiful cottage (which they call apartment). The breakfast had a wide spread and lot of deli made with Lamb meat.

I can see why Hali Country Hotel gets good ratings. Very quiet area. The cottage was huge and very clean. It was also very quiet. However, if you are thinking about booking here, you should know that the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. There are no grocery stores or restaurants nearby. They have a restaurant, but the menu is limited and not kid friendly. Very sweet and helpful staff. We woke up to a flat tire. The hotel staff was so sweet and let us hang in out room for an extra hour past checkout just so we had a place to sit and wait for roadside assistance. Just said they would clean our room last.

This is an absolutely beautiful location with friendly staff, great food, and clean, comfortable rooms for a reasonable price. The property feels homey, and we would have loved to stay longer than just one night. The were very accommodating to add a fourth bed to a 3-person room, and though they said it would be tight, there was still plenty of space. The restaurant was very expensive, even by Icelandic standards, but the food was good and the convenience of eating on the property after a long day of activities was great. Breakfast was perfect with a lot of homemade items.

Too remote for me and you are pretty much limited to their restaurant onsite unless you want to drive 45 minutes. Although the food was good, it was pricey and not a lot of choices. Rooms were clean but very minimalistic.

This is an excellent place to stay. The hotel is just a 15-minute drive from the glacier. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious, with stunning views and a large, comfortable bed. The owner goes above and beyond to ensure guests have the best possible experience. The breakfast deserves special mention—there were many options, including homemade lamb pâté, which was the best I've ever had. I highly recommend this place and would be happy to return.

Stayed in lodge. Very spacious and luxurious room and handicapped bathroom. Liked coffee stand and sitting area in entryway. Restaurant gourmet and fantastic. Attached museum of local lore and personalities was unique, well put together and worth anyone’s time to get a locals feel of glacier side life. Highly recommend.

The hotel is on an old farm site, and the rooms are in various different buildings. My room was in the furthest building from the restaurant. There is no lighting on the paths between the buildings, which are gravel and have puddles in the hollows. If you're staying in winter, you will want a flashlight to make your way around.
There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, they were in the lobby area of each building. The wet room style shower was great, with good water pressure. The staff were all lovely, and the restaurant food was great.
There aren't many options for places to stay in the Glacier Lagoon area, and this hotel served its purpose well.

This was a nice little community hotel. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Checkin was quick and easy. We ate dinner at the restaurant, and it was very good. The complimentary breakfast was a great way to start the day. This is a great place to stay in a rather remote area.

The rooms are grouped into smaller buildings, with a main door and a lobby and hallway with doors. Our room was right by the front door and coffee machine in the lobby. The room door had no gasket or soundproofing and we might as well have been sleeping in the lobby, because we could hear every footstep. Even with earplugs it was terrible.
