We stopped in the hotel over a decade ago and we were keen to stop again, the hotel is in a lovely area just outside the old town but very near the trendy new areas around the train station. We loved the room and the hotel. We opted out of breakfast at booking but did pay on the day on a couple of mornings, very good wide choice of hot and cold food.

Beautiful old hotel, lovely outside courtyard to sit and chat and have a drink in the evenings. Very convenient to Old Town Tallin, easy to navigate. Some minor inconveniences, such as small rooms, awkward showers and lack of cool air from the air conditioning unit. Granted most of Europe doesn’t really use air conditioning much and they like it much warmer than Americans. But our room was truly sweltering some nights and no matter how much we turned down the temperature it never changed. You are much better opening the windows.

There was a problem with my first room and they quickly made it right. It’s close to the port and Uber is easy. Doing a walking tour that starts in front of the tourist information is a great way to see and hear about Tallin.

We enjoyed or stay here at the Von Stackelberg Hotel. The breakfast had everything you could want and as much as you wanted. Otto’s tapas bar was exactly what we needed after a day of sightseeing. The staff were attentive and the ambiance was perfect for pre dinner drinks, dining and night caps. The rooms were clean and fully equipped with tea and coffee. Reception staff were very helpful and efficient. All in all a perfect place to recharge your batteries after a full day in the beautiful town of Tallinn. We would stay here again in the future.

This hotel is excellent with an ideal location. The room was small but fully fitted with bath robes and slippers. Breakfast was excellent with a large choice of both hot and cold food. I have only one criticism in that we had dinner in Otto's Bar, in the hotel, on our first night which excellent so we decided to et there again the next night which was a disappointment for my wife. She ordered exactly the same food as the previous night and as a starter received a bruschetta with tomato that was less than half the size of the previous night and when this was queried was told what she received was the correct size. Her main course again was exactly the same and was a goats cheese salad and the salad looked as if it had been lying around for some hours - a real disappointment. We did not eat there again.

Loved the location and ambiance of the Von Stackleberg. So convenient for Old Town sightseeing, but not in the midst of all the craziness. The breakfast restaurant ambiance was wonderful, the food was plentiful and the selection diverse. Appreciated the coffee machine. Our only complaint was that the AC did not work well, but then the nights cooled down and we opened the windows.

For business or for pleasure, what a fantastic hotel! I had a Zen Deluxe room which was perfect for my needs. There was only one occasion where my dirty coffee cup was not cleaned, but that was because I had left warm coffee in it when I left the room for the day. Location-wise, perfect also. A quick Uber into the city centre for business, and a five minute walk to the beautiful Old City of Tallinn too. A lovely stay. Thank you!

Very nice ambience. Close to the upper old town. Keep in mind... it’s right on a busy main street. We came by car and it was a little hard to find. There’s not a place to unload luggage in the front, you’ll have to find the back of the hotel.

Nice hotel, great location, but...

Spent 4 nights/5 days exploring Tallinn. The hotel is perfectly located regarding both the new and old town, as well as other parts of Tallinn (like bus #146 to Rummu, and so on). But the fact that the spa was not included, AND you actually had to book it for spesific times was a huge dissapointment and a hassle. We ended up going to other spa hotels for treatment and bathing.

Spa very good, I had a lovely massage and my husband used the sauna and jacuzzi- but be careful what they charge you. They tried to charge us for a private sauna rather than a non private one. Issues- we had blood stains on our bed sheets (from previous guests, not us) which we had to tell reception about twice before they changed them. They weren’t very apologetic about this. Our room was a bit disappointing. I paid for a zen room but it only had a sky light, no windows and the bath was pretty poor. In fact whenever we showered the water leaked all over the bathroom floor as the bath hadn’t been sealed. We told reception but they didn’t do anything. Bed is very big but the duvet and sheets are not big enough so you have to both sleep almost in one half of the bed. Some of the staff were great but others not so good!

Been to this hotel few times before with my husband. Now as I were traveling with a not-so-close relative I obviously wished for two separate single beds. As it happens, we were welcomed with a queen bed built by two single beds and as I asked the receptionist if there were any change to get them separated, he declined my plea with no apologies what so ever. Sooooo... I evenhandedly had to make the sleeping arrangements as wished beforehand - and how come - I managed fairly easily in separating these two beds (mission that was said to be impossible by the receptionist).

Not returning to this hotel anymore, since the service now without my husband were somewhat soviet-like... :/

Nice hotel near the Centre

Nice hotel near the centre of Tallin. ZEN rooms are in a separate building across the courtyard and are worth the small extra payment - they are slightly larger and have a jacuzzi bath.

I stayed here for 5 nights and had a lovely time at this hotel. Since I was traveling by myself, I got the regular-size room, and I ended up with a room facing the inner courtyard. It's true that the hotel is adjacent to two busy streets, so I can imagine the street-side rooms being a bit noisy; if you're worried about that, maybe request a room facing the courtyard.

Breakfast was extensive and delicious. The facilities were clean. The staff were very pleasant. Bonus: there's an excellent craft beer bar (Pööbel) just across the street, and they have great food for lunch and dinner there as well.

Tallinn Old Town is indeed very close -- you can be at the Tourist Information Center (where tours depart) in 10 minutes. However, be aware that it involves walking up and down a fairly large hill (Toompea), so those with mobility issues may not love this location. I'm not in the best physical shape, and by day 3, my thighs were screaming.

The onsite spa has very reasonable prices (cheap compared to the US) so I got a 90-minute hot stone massage. It was very nice and relaxing, but ultimately did not do anything to alleviate the pain and soreness from climbing Toompea and walking so much; when I woke up the next morning, I felt the same as I did before the massage. That was really the only negative point about my stay.
