Good value, newer hotel

Newer hotel about a 20 minute walk to Old Town. Room was spacious, however our twin room had 2 twin beds lined up together with 1 topper covering both, essentially making it like a king size bed where every movement of the other person was felt, leading to a disruptive sleep. There is more than adequate space in room to rectify this. Jetted, deep tub in bathroom with shower was a bit treacherous to climb in and out of, with no grab bar. Room was immaculate. Breakfast selection was a good variety but none of the hot food was actually hot. All staff were pleasant and helpful.

Booked standard room, upon check in found out I've been allocated single room and the hotel was full so could not be given an alternative room, had to get Expedia involved. Receptionist has not been proactive in terms of resolving this issue. Do not recommend this hotel. Stayed around 4 times and despite having golden status never been upgraded nor offered special treatment.

Check in was ok although not especially friendly. The hotel room was clean, but the first disappointment occurred when I found out the mini bar was empty. When I questioned the receptionist he said there had been a recent decision made to remove all minibar stocks from standard rooms and only include in the more expensive ones, so I decided to go and get some beer and soft drinks from a nearby supermarket instead. However I then found the the minibar fridge was also not working (it appeared the plug was too far from the socket). The restaurant food I had on the first night was ok but nothing special (the worst bruschetta I’ve ever had, an average bolognese which wasn’t very hot and the tiramisu was ok), service was good and friendly though. Breakfast however was good. Room was serviced daily very well. Reasonably close the the old town (15-20 minutes walk, or bus stop outside). Checkout was again not friendly and not asked if I had enjoyed my stay (I was even asked if I had used anything from the minibar which didn’t exist!). Overall I wouldn’t say this was a four star hotel, three at best.

General ok hotel outside of the tourist areas. After emailing and calling to confirm our spa times, the staff still scheduled us incorrectly (they moved our times from mid-day to early in the morning for some unknown reason; I requested the manager to email and explain why but still have not heard back from them a week after check out). This not only messed up our check out process and breakfast but also the spa employee; a disgruntled spa employee then did not complete our massages as advertised (The foot wellness package also included a leg massage which she did not do for example), yet full price was charged. The spa itself is somewhat ok, needs a renovation and natural light could be added. Communication at the hotel could be better: an email to the hotel I sent was only seen after I called the next day to confirm they had received it. The breakfast was ok, typical Nordic hotel style. After a spa renovation and upgrades to the hotel this could be a nice place if room rates stayed the same.

If you’re not really going to use the tub in the zen room a bit tough to go into the tub for a shower. Bfast was good. Location is around 15 walk to old town which is doable but there’s always Uber if you’re feet get tired. There’s no convenient store nearby. I liked the Room nevertheless

I cannot comment on our original room because the hotel had a problem that resulted in an upgrade to a suite with a Jacuzzi bath. I was impressed with how quickly the upgrade was made. This a first-class hotel, in a quiet part of town but not too far from the Old Town. Fabulous breakfast.

Really lovely room and large bathroom with spa bath and toiletries. very clean and would highly recommend. Within 10-15 walk to Old Town but only managed to find out on last day how easy it is to use the bus service to old town with the bus stop almost on the door step and buses every few minutes. Very pleased with our stay.

We were visiting new family 'to be' so we wanted a Hotel close to the Old Town for ease of access to where they live. The Hotel is a good 10 - 15 minute walk with a slight incline so not suitable if you have walking difficulties to what I classed as the centre but busses and trams are very good and very frequent.. ( Buy a Tallin card from a Kiosk).

The Hotel was nice and peaceful even though on a busy road, very clean the receptionist could not have been more helpful.

The Hotel was very clean, the beds were large and comfy & they provide shampoo etc. in the bathroom.

Lovely spacious room

Lovely room in a conveniently located hotel close to the old town. The breakfast is also great, an impressive array of foods to suit all tastes. We very much enjoyed our stay in this beautiful city and were particularly impressed with the helpfulness and courtesy of the staff even though we didn’t arrive at the hotel until 1.00am due to flight delays. They also guarantee to keep your room however late you arrive, which was a comfort to know when you’re stuck on a plane!

My friend and I stayed here over Easter and the first thing to say is that the staff were wonderful, especially Jaana the receptionist. She was friendly, polite and gave us some great recommendations.

The room was spacious and clean. The only complaint was that our room was not cleaned the morning after our first night and we do not know why.

The breakfast buffet was very good, with a wide range of hot and cold food ranging from pastries to fruit to cereal to sausages.

The location was pretty good too, it was just a 10 minute walk to old town and a 10-15 minute taxi ride to the airport.

My friend and I chose this hotel because of the spa and it did not disappoint. The staff were courteous and the waterlily facial we both had was brilliant - would highly recommend.

The staff (everyone I encountered) was helpful beyond measure. They assisted with helping make a last minute tour happen.
Rooms were clean and comfy!
Restaurant food in the evenings was excellent. The fodant dessert with wild berries and flowers was a delight. My steak was cooked as ordered. There was a nice, quality selection of foods for breakfast.

On a main road, 10 minute from old town,near a bus station.dated hotel, very clean.The room was ok, but the bath was too high and not safe enough.No room to put personal cosmetic bags.The Curtin did not block the outside light.even we were on high floor at zen room and back of road,we heared the noise of the road.The stuff was helpful and kind.The breakfast was ok,but need some esthetic improvement.

First class from walking into the hotel to leaving, after a fast check in, staff then took the time to mark a map up of where the best viewing points were, how to get around Tallinn and where to eat, where the public transport stops are for the hotel and if you have not already purchased a travel card where you can buy one. The long breakfast time make it ideal to delay the days sight seeing to allow the weather to clear which is great for families.

A great hotel, but the location could be better.

We enjoyed our stay. The room and breakfast were great. The only flaw was the location. As a tourist, we found ourselves having to hop on a bus or taking a cab to get to the sites of interest. Also not many choices for dinner close by. Will stay closer to city center next time. It was however a great value, so even after the additional costs it was still cheaper than old city hotels. We also had troubles with the WiFi, but that could just be the room location, other rooms might have better WiFi.

The staff at the hotel were excellent and provided wonderful customer service. We reserved three rooms and all were very comfortable, clean, and quiet. The front desk staff provided us with directions and suggestions on places to visit in Tallinn during our short stay. Staff recommended a wonderful restaurant and called ahead to make reservations for the seven of us. We had to leave the hotel in the early morning to allow time to check in for our flight home to Los Angeles, CA. The front desk staff provided us with breakfast bags for our trip home. This was very much appreciated. They also arranged for two taxi drivers to pick us up from the hotel and drive us to the airport. We all were very pleased with the excellent service the hotel staff provided. I would highly recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

Extended vacation in a top hotel in Tallin

The good: friendly, helpful staff; excellent location; very quiet. The hotel is clean and tidy. The breakfast buffet was impressive -- there is something for everyone.

The bad: everything about my bed was awful. It was much too soft for my liking. The mattress itself is about 4 inches thick and as such was totally unacceptable. Instead of a fitted sheet, there was a loose sheet under my body that moved along with me. Instead of a queen-sized sheet and mattress set to fit the bed, there were two twin-sized sheet-blanket combos, side by side. Why??

The room itself was tiny and I felt boxed in.

The hotel was in a great position for the old town and a great price! Hotel was clean and comfortable with a great breakfast! For April the weather was good. We totally recommend going to the R stands and getting a public transport card. €7 for unlimited travel for 5 days (rather than €2 a time) the transport was fab always a bus to get on to take you wherever you wanna go! Totally recommend it!

Excellent with great bus service to the city and the old town. A Tallinn card will cover almost everything from museums, buses to money off in restaurants. A must and you can buy at the hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Ats who works in reception my favourite. Breakfast will cover all the world's tastes and not to be missed. Especially the scrambled egg. Yummy ! Rooms clean. Spa services available also after a hard day touring. I'll be back

Hotel was great we got upgraded to a zen room which was brill as used the bath for a long soak after all the walking. Service was fab and reception even booked and printed our tickets for helsinki.
There wasnt much beside the hotel but the old town is literally a 5-10 minute walk away. If u dnt want to walk the bus stop is right outside hotel so we just hopped on and off the bus.

Great hotel at a great price in a great city

The Kreutzwald Hotel is a very nice, comfortable hotel near downtown Tallinn. While it is not IN downtown and therefore a short walk from shops and old town, it is very comfortable and affordable. For the business traveler, ideal since much of their time is spent doing business and not seeing the sights. Still nice for the holiday traveler, but not as convenient as a hotel in old town, but you don't have to pay the price of old town, plus the rooms are more spacious than those in old town.

I had a problem when booking this hotel through Hotel.com. Hotel.com kept using the wrong date for my check in and when I got to the hotel the manager could see there was a mistake in the booking. She went ahead and changed the mistake, did not charge me for a no show when in fact there was no mistake on my part and everything about this hotel is really good including the manager. I loved the room, the service, the restaurant and the location. You just cannot find a small hotel like this that is better.

Room was spacious and clean but a little stark; main issue with our room was that it was very stuffy and we could not open the windows and had to have the air con on constantly when in the room which was not the most comfortable. My friends in a room on the top floor did have openable windows which make the room comfortable.
Surrounding area is not the nicest but only 10min walk from old town

Great Location close to Old Town

The hotel was very nice -very clean and updated. Our room faced the \"back\" and was very quiet. We had the Zen Suite which was definitely worth the extra $. The breakfast was very good - eggs, bacon, potatoes, cereals, rolls, croissants, juices, etc., etc., and the best latte machine ever! The in house bar/lounge were nice and the bartender friendly. When we go back to Estonia we will definitely return to the Kreutzwald. The only \"con\" was the Jacuzzi wasn't that warm, more like luke warm but we're told that's kind of how they are everywhere, like 95/35 F/C deg.

Decent hotel with an old-fashioned charm, 10-15 min. walking from the old town of Tallinn. We asked for a room with twin beds for us as couple, and that was what we got: one small bed each side of the wall. Not quite romantic but ok for sleeping (although the thin matras was more a hammock than a real bed). The room was quiet, which is also important. Service was correct, though not overly friendly (esp. not in the restaurant). Minor problem with the AC was solved asap. Elevator sounds as if it can break down at any time, but actually worked fine. Safe parking behind the hotel is very convenient. Overall decent hotel, perhaps slightly overrated.

Great hotel, great staff, rooms fab. Only weird thing is no staff around at breakfast so anyone could have walked in and served themselves.

Nice modern and clean hotel

Liked:
Clean and modern hotel in a nice old building. Nice, roomy and modern rooms (got a zen room). Comfortable bed and good tv. Good breakfast. Not noisy in room. Nice jacuzzi bathtub in the zen room.

Disliked:
Curtains too thin or light coloured to keep the sun away - not good if sleeping late in the morning (got woken up too early because of the sun after a night out). Location a bit away from the center and restaurants/sights, not much nearby.

Large rooms, helpful recepton, nicely renovated

Large rooms, even before the wasted of space of giving the wardrobe almost a room of its own.

Sobering to think you might be in the footprint of an ex soviet family flat?

Interesting to compare the excellent renovation to the decaying soviet apartment block next door. Consider a booking here as a tourist vote to encourage cool renovation over the simpler option of the bulldozer.

Downside, the 10-15 minute walk back to centre to eat late.

wifi was not working on iphone 6 , good that we had also android phone with us. bed was comfy. there was an unpleasant smell coming from our bathroom..
breakfast was awesome. 10/10
