Amazing accommodation. Convenient location wirhin walking distance to the tourist hot spot Old Town. Nearby cafes. Great service and breakfast. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and quiet. The rooms were reasonably priced. There's a convenient restaurant attached to the hotel with very delicious food. There's also a spa and sauna.

We also wish to highlight the friendly service from staff member Ragne. She was very polite and helpful.

First two nights was okay, then a very loud snorer was in the room beside me for the next two. I tried calling reception on the room phone which didn’t work to request some ear plugs. Ended up calling on my mobile (bear in mind the reception is in a second hotel 100meters up the street) who said she couldn’t bring them down as she’s the only one working. I went and got them and asked if it would be possible to change room due to the volume of the other person. She informed me they’re fully booked. I looked online and this was correct for the hotel I was in, but not the one the reception was in. This resulted in two sleepless nights and two wasted days in Tallinn

For the price point, it is very livable for a few days. The room is nothing special, no mini fridge, there is a small kettle and cups, although no coffee or tea. The bathroom was spacious, however the shower would drain very slowly, and definitely wasn’t super well maintained. It is a very quick walk to Old Town, so if you are only in Tallinn for a few days and want to wander around (while saving some money for spending), this hotel is worth a stay. Probably wouldn’t stay again due to the lack of amenities and cleanliness.

Actually got upgraded to the nearby Von Stackelberg hotel (think owned by the same company), so review is for there. Fantastic rooms, comfortable bed, lovely view out of window. It provided services such as a hot tub and sauna and breakfast which we did not use although the option was nice.

Standard older hotel, fairly easy walk into old town. As others have mentioned the check-in, sauna, breakfast etc is inside another hotel 2 buildings away, which is not convenient when weather is bad. But all in all a comfortable stay. At check-in I heard another guest was told all rooms face away from the road. My room (002) faced the street, which was noisy, and the windows were barred shut for security, so no fresh air. I would request a different room.

I initially booked for one night as I was in need of an affordable room in the center. However, it turned out to be a great stay for a hotel within that price range. Apart from the location (right next to the Old Town and close to the train station/Baltic market/design district, the room also had what we needed, including hair dryer, water kettle, powerful shower, and a comfortable beds. I also love the big windows that allowed plenty of daylight. The weather was cool enough so we didn't need AC and the fan worked just fine.

Room itself was clean , spacious , comfortable and had a tea /coffee making jug , the latter a welcome rarity in Europe. Hiwever still no fridge ….
One of the few so called ‘garden view ‘ rooms which looks straight into the rear concrete car park- but this is far preferable to one of the ridiculousll noisy rooms in the front of building which are literally 2 metres away from roaring buses on a busy highway .
No sleep for the wicked souls in those rooms .
I booked and rebooked through Expedia , the reception staff were young , inexperienced and useless - kept giving me false information about availability so there was no point even talking to them

Very close, maybe only 2 minutes to walk to the Old City of Tallinn. The hotel seems to be the second or maybe original location of another hotel just next door. Because that's where you actually check in / out. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. Good place if you stay overnight, if you need a nice bed and a shower. They main hotel offers restaurant you can sit inside/ or outside. Good place !!

It’s what you’d expect. It’s worth paying more for the garden view as it was quiet during the night
+ It was reasonably priced,
+ the location is really good,like 10 minutes away from the old town,
+ many bus stops nearby so you can easily take a bus from anywhere
+ there were many amenities in the room, we had a blow dryer, a kettle,TV, there were multiple power sockets
+ there was a big closet, a shower
-The first night we didn’t have hot water and it returned the next day around the evening-afternoon
-There was some trash on the floor [photo attached]
-We booked a double bed but We just got two single beds put together and during the night they were moving apart from each other so it was not very nice

It took me 15 minutes (in the rain) to find the entrance to the hotel! People from the hotel on the other side of the road showed me that the reception was in another building. The dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed at. it was stated that housekeeping was on a daily basis. The bathroom window floors are not cleaned. Of course as proof of the picture layout. I find myself being cheated!

I would say .y first night went well. I liked how close to the old city I was. However the next night an employee entered .y room without permission. I am a female traveling alone and a man opened my door and asked to come in. No! He knocked, but it was done so quietly that I wasnt sure if it was my door or another. He entered to tell me to turn down my TV which I wasnt even watching. I was watching my iPad and how loud can that possibly be. The rest of the night, every noose I heard I thought was someone entering my room again. I put all myiggage in front of the door and I did not sleep that well that night. This was my 61st country so I am well traveled. I have never experienced anything like that before and never been afraid in my own room.

An amazingly good value. A last minute decision to overnight in Tallinn turned out very well. The room was spacious airy, comfortable and clean and VERY reasonably priced. Minor nuisance was that upon arrival we found we had to check in at a sister hotel a couple of door away, but it was OK. Just outside the Old City walls, very easy walk.

I think that this building was a Soviet era apartment block which has been impressively modernised with suspended ceilings, very pleasing muted colour schemes, automatic glass entrance vestible door, card operated entry main entrance and rooms.
Very spacious, nicely decorated, double room with very comfortable beds and duvet bedding together with heated-floor well appointed bathroom and shower cubicle.
The whole spotlessly clean and warm throughout in a cold Baltic state late Winter season.
An extremely good value budget hotel and the only negative point was the excessive road noise in Room No. 1 with large double-glazed window at street level. Rooms to the rear of the building are likely to be much quieter and more restful.
Very good coffee shop/bakery immediately opposite hotel across busy road.

We booked this hotel for its nearby location to Tallinn's historic city center and were highly pleased. By taxi to the hotel in 20 min for less than 10.00 EUR. All walkable, no need for public transport. Even the new and coming district Telliskivi is only a 16 minute walk. Safe neighborhood.

This hotel is a budget hotel, however, I was charged E120 per night (I stayed for two nights) as there was a European football match taking place in Tallinn. The room was small and very basic with two small single beds. the ensuite, also small was again, basic. The biggest problem was that there was no a/c. The first evening neither of us could get to sleep as it was too hot and there was no way to reduce the heat, apart from a cheap fan which just circulated the warm air.
The hotel id an annexe of the Shackleberg Hotel about 100 meters away.(which looks great). It's there that you have to check in. There are no amenities or facilities in the \"City\" Hotel.
Nobody likes to be ripped off, and we were. It's not even worth E35 per night

Basic, Few Amenities, But Good Price

My overnight stay at City Hotel Tallinn was fair to good. First the good points: All the staff I encountered in the hotel were helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. In addition, the breakfast the hotel serves is very nice; good, fresh selections with something to please everyone. Now for the not-so-good: The City Hotel is associated with the Stackelberg Hotel, which is just a few steps down the street, and all staff is located there and all business is conducted there. This arrangement did not pose a problem for me. I suspect, but cannot say for sure, that Stackelberg is a cut above the City Hotel and probably is nicer. City Hotel has kind of a hostel feel, with dorm like rooms. The rooms are very basic and could use an update. I believe my rooms was clean, though there was a mild smell of sewer gas in the bathroom (but no evidence of anything worse), which is a common problem in these old cities. My room was located about 10 feet (3 meters) from a street and the bus stop was just outside my window, which could have posed a problem for sleeping. Fortunately, I travel with ear-plugs, so I slept quite well. I will not say \"don't stay at City Hotel\" because it was alright and the price was reasonable. I'll say, if you don't mind a Spartan room and fewer amenities, then this place will be fine for you.

City hotel Tallinn is in a great location, as it's just a 5 min stroll to the old town. That said the hotel is located on an incredibly busy road and buses, trams and lorries roar past the windows. The noise & pollution meant that the window was only opened occasionally. The small room didn't have double glazing nor air-con so the room got hot and stuffy. When I arrived it quite frankly smelt and was in need of a good airing! It seems that all rooms are on the ground floor. Mine was right by the entrance door which meant that smokers congregated and chatted outside my window too. Walls are paper thin and I could hear the full goings on of the couple in the next room! The room was clean but the bathroom was far from modern. The shower flooded the bathroom. There was no house keeping / fresh towels unless you paid extra for the service. No safe. No mini bar. No hairdryer. This place really offered the basics of a hostel but at hotel prices. I think you could find a much better hotel in lovely Tallinn to stay in!

My room was behind bus station: they told me Expedia asked for window. Big window, cars speeding near it all the time from early morning.

The shower room WC no ventilation bad smell. They fixed it a bit but no desodorant, no soap. No boiler for water. Shower warmed very slow and gave not much water at once.

I would recommend to no one.

It is called Citi - not inside old city.

Noisy, but convenient

This is a budget wing of the fancy Von Stackelberg hotel. In fact, you'll have to tell the taxi that you're going to the Von Stackelberg since he won't know where the \"City Hotel\" is. You need to check in there anyway. Then they send you down the block a couple of buildings to an unmanned hotel building. I had a street view room, which was literally 5 feet away from a bus stop, and it was incredibly noisy all day long. Late at night, I noticed the bus frequency either went down or stopped, and it wasn't an issue. Breakfast in the Von Stackelberg is 10 euros, or you can try to grab a bit to eat at the hotel across the street. Convenient walking distance to old town. Walk up the hill a couple of blocks for tremendous views over the city.

My only real complaint would be that the windows didn't open (this is understandable given that we were at street level) and when someone was in the shower the room got very hot and humid and rather uncomfortable. Other than that the location was close to all the sites we wanted to see and the room was good.

Yes, it's a basic hotel. But for the price, you will not get better. Check in is just at the hotel next door and the staff were friendly and helpful; no problem to borrow a hairdryer and to leave my bag after check out. The location is perfect; near the train station, on the edge of the city tourist bus track and very close to the main sites. The hotel is very quiet and safe. The room was clean, beds comfortable and bedding perfectly good. Only one thing I felt was missing was a safe in the room. Would absolutely recommend if you are looking for a comfy and well located bed. If you want a hotel experience, not for you - but there is so much more to see and do in Tallinn.

Good hotel in a fantastic city

The hotel is close to all the sights, just down from the castle. The room has all you need. You do need to pay extra if you want fresh towels and the room cleaned but for a three day stay I didn't need as I can keep it tidy myself. I was on the ground floor near a busy road, which was the only drawback as there is a lot of traffic noise. For approx £30 a night I believe it is excellent value. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly

Great budget beds near Old Town

Love this place as the price is so good and it's a short walk to the Old Town. Since I'm not a high maintenance traveler, I don't need a maid to come in every day to change the sheets and give me new towels (but if I needed that, the hotel does offer it for a fee). It's quiet and right across the street is the Meriton Spa hotel, where you can get something good to eat at the cafe and also enjoy their lovely spa. The staff have always been very friendly and welcoming. This is my first choice when I travel to Tallinn.

This hotel isn't a hotel... it's a flophouse. Unlike a real dorm room, it doesn't even have laundry facilities or a vending machine. The room stinks of eggs. The bathroom is ugly and hard to use. There is cleaning service. There is no climate control, so it's hot in the morning and chilly in the evening. The location is horrible, you'll freeze to death before arriving at wherever you're going, and you'll never be able to get a snack or drink because there are no such stores nearby. Service is weak. There is no front desk at this hotel. It's basically an apartment in a bad location where you're on your own. Avoid at all costs.

I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in February (cold weather) as a sole female traveller. I found the hotel reception staff to be extremely welcoming and helpful. The room had free internet access (one of my main reasons for picking this hotel) and the internet worked well in my room and was fast. My room was warm at all times and the bed was comfortable. The TV was great with lots of free channels. The location was great (5 mins walk up a hill to the Old Town). It was also right by the airport bus stop (fast K90 bus from the airport to Tallinn - get off at Stop 13 - cost $3 one way or $5 Return). The hotel was spotlessly clean. On the down side, the bathroom spelt bad and this gave the room a funny smell. The window in my room also wouldn't open so I was unable to let in fresh air. All in all for what I paid, I found this hotel to be exceptional value for money and would stay again.

We knew we were getting basic, no frills - that's what we paid for. The hotel was in a great spot for the Old Town. The room was clean. The bathroom was a bit pokey. Our room was facing the traffic of a busy road and there was also a bus stop right outside the window, so it was very noisy at times. Request a room at the back if you can! Ideal for a short city break for students/low budget seekers.
Treat yourself to a spa at the main hotel with the money have saved on the room!

The City Hotel does not appear to be recognised by taxi drivers in Tallinn. Any travelers should be advised to ask for the neighbouring Von Stackleburg. Disappointed that there is no reception in The City Hotel. Rooms very basic but clean and affordable.

Close to the train station and old town Tallinn

This hotel is operated as part of a two-location hotel. To check-in, get any information, or even to have breakfast, you have to go half a block to the other building. Both locations have steep strairs for accessing the front door -- inconvenient with luggage and difficult for anyone with a disability. Daily room cleaning or towel changing costs extra! The rooms are small. Ours faced a quiet yard (with a pre-school in it, but we were there on a weekend), and street-facing rooms probably get noisy. The hotel is convenient to old town, but there are no restaurants or cafes nearby. Airport bus has a stop just a block from the hotel, so it's convenient for the airport too. It's an OK location for a couple of nights, if the price is right.

Good hotel, especially for it's 2-stars status

The hotel stands really close to Old Town - in five minutes you can get to Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
The hall, the lounge and the room is neat and nice-looking. There is no doubts about cleanness of sheets and towels. So, everything was OK with the most important stuff for me (bathtube, toilet and bed).
And there is two small disadvantages about the hotel: sometimes you can hear your neighbours, and the room was smoked-up. But if you have a sound sleep, you'll just don't even notice any noise. The second problem I solved by using aromatic sticks.

City Hotel Tallinn

Very convenient for Old Town . Unmanned hotel .Perfect for a no frills stay on a tight budget.
Breakfast is a sandwich/apple/fruit juice/yoghurt in a brown paper bag in an unmanned 'cafe' in the basement. So ok but no frills again!Check in 2 minutes walk away at Von Stackelberg Hotel-receptionist very pleasant and helpful. Enchanting Old Town-Tallinn well worth a visit for 2 to 3 days. Recommend buying the 'Tallinn Card ' for free travel and discounts. Prices : Food -similar to UK. Pub drinks-a bit cheaper. Shoes and clothes-surprisingly more expensive. Airport bus -excellent. Cost is 2 Euros and drops off and picks up [same stop ] 2 minutes walk from Hotel at Stop 9. Runs every 30 minutes. A very safe and pleasant place to visit.

breakfast was not worth going for --tea and coffee facilities were inadequate--the filter machine was dirty --only 4 cups in kitchen --we had to call the hotel to request milk and cups --hotel room was ok --bed comfortable a bit like a travel lodge
