I would highly recommend this hotel, is very close to the tourist attractions pretty much walking distance. Staff is amazing and open to help when needed. Staff is very friendly, the only downside for us was that they don’t have an elevator and my mom has a hard time with stairs and we had a stroller but other than that it was amazing

The rooms are dated. Also, there is no elevator and the beds hard. Furthermore, the AC worked but was super loud.
On the plus side, the staff was great and breakfast was decent. Also, the location is close to everything.
Lastly, if you just need a place to sleep -because you will spend your time engaged in activities - this place is a decent option.

The room has no hot water for a shower. The tv has large blotches and it’ 8 am and someone is pounding on the walls. I called reception and no one can m as le the pounding stop. It’s been a while since I had a very bad stay.

It was fine for a short stay. The water took a little while to heat up which isn’t that big of a deal. The only thing that got kind of annoying is that the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything that’s going on. Past midnight I could hear people talking and in the early morning I could hear the people moving furniture around. The employees were nice. The hotel is in a GREAT area. It’s clean. The breakfast was good. I’d give it a 4/5 overall.

In reviewing the Hotel Francis Drake in Campeche, I must admit that there were both good and bad elements to the experience of staying there for three days.
First, the negatives:
The rooms are just tired - with rusted and corroded fitures, deferred maintenance, chunks of marble missing in the bathroom, etc. The bathroom is poorly designed, cramped, crowded and difficult to use. While there was some street noise, it was not not intolerable
There was sporadic and unreliable Internet, and the breakfast was unimpressive - Bimbo toast, eggs, fruit or juice, coffee, bad tea, etc.
Now the positives:
The rooms are large, with a sitting area with a hide-a-bed and separate sleeping area. The sitting area had a kitchenette with microwave, etc. Which was handy to have.
The beds were comfortable, in fact some of the few hotel beds in Mexico (and we’ve been to 17 states!) where we could get a good night’s sleep!
Then there was the VERY accommodating staff - who moved us to another room when AC did not work, and responded promptly and cheerfully to every need.
The rates are very affordable.

Air conditioning in room was slightly noisy, and room was next to dinning room so heard dinning door open and close several times. But we were early birds and out touring so that was no bother to us. Room bed comfortable. Parking was in a secure garage. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a very good over all experience. 4.5 of 5 grade& good value for price!

Sir Francis Drake is a modest hotel. It served the purpose and we were happy to be inside the walls of the old city which is a charming part of Campeche. Breakfast was good but there was not a welcoming feeling in the hotel or the restaurant. The room was definA antly a bit tired and not as clean as we would have expected. The air conditioning was very effective but also quite noisy.

This place has 2 different type of rooms. Noisy or extremely noise. If your room facing the street. you are going to be up even with a ear plug. you are not going to sleep. the other noises are from the bathrooms above. anytime they flush or take a shower. you also going to enjoy the noise from the hallway but at night it is not too bad.
As for free breakfast! My coffee was cold and the scramble egg smell like old fish. they ask me why i did't eat my eggs but they did not even say would you like some other things or sorry or anything! you get a better coffee at hugs and kisses (OXXO) or should i say Mexican 7-11

The Francis Drake - a good choice in Campeche.
Campeche is a wonderful city. This was our third trip here. Staying at the Francis Drake put us in the the old city. It is far enough from the busy main streets to be quiet and only a short walk if you want to do anything in the old city. Our room was large, 2 queen beds, a separate living room area with a kitchenette. The bathroom was a little tired and the toilet behind the door, a little awkward at first.
The continental breakfast left room for improvement:fruit, skimpy portion, cornflakes, toast, coffee or juice. No options.
Our stay was comfortable and we'd probably go back again but there are so many other boutique type hotels to try in Campeche.

Francis Drake is in a good neighbourhood of the historical downtown core of Campeche. Not too much noise from the street below. The room was big and the beds comfortable but there was no overhead fan so you had to use aircon. The shower stall was quite small. Breakfast was just fine but they were a bit skimpy letting you have jam for your toast.

Pleasant, helpful hotel staff who were patient with our very limited Spanish. Great location, walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Amazingly clean and safe city. Pride was evident throughout the historic section, where we spent all our time. Lots to see and do for the 5 days we were there. Be sure to ask about the light show in the park - celebrating the history and present city of Campeche! We were blown away!
We were very fortunate at the information booth in the park to find a knowledgeable, English speaking host, who pointed us in the direction of many of our memorable experiences.

No pude descansar debido a un ruido insoportable de una bomba en la azotea que se escuchaba en todo el hotel.
Los baños y las habitaciones necesitan una renovación también.

Solo estuvimos una noche, el lugar es tipo colonial, sin pretensiones, pero céntrico, limpio y con un personal muy amable; desde el hotel encontramos a pocos pasos, tiendas, restaurantes y la famosa muralla. Cuenta con estacionamiento. No tiene elevador. Elegimos el desayuno incluido porque teníamos que salir temprano y estaba bien servido.
