Beautifully revamped Paris hotel. Perfect for a single traveler. My rooms bathroom was equipped with a wonderful 2 headed shower. Tons of hot water plus great smelling bath products. The morning breakfast offered a wide choice of foods. The service was top notch. I would stay here again. Highly recommend by a seasoned traveler

Nice hotel in a convenient area to visit Paris. Good size rooms (by Parisian standards), overall good condition with all necessary amenities and clean. Comfortable bed. Nice staff. Good French-style breakfast. A/C (air conditioning) worked well which is a huge help in summer
Cons: noticed a couple of tiny ants in the toilet area. Elevator/lift tricky, so be prepared to exercise step climbing fee times per day ;-) Shelf area with the safe gets hot, maybe due to A/C, gave me a bit of concern for electronics and jewellery

We stayed four nights at the Hotel de l'Univesite. The staff was all very pleasant and helpful. Thomas at the front desk even helped us to check-in for our flight back to the United States. The breakfast costed only 35 Euros and was quite plentiful and delicious! We will recommend it to any friends we know who will be visiting Paris.

Perfectly fine hotel. Affordable choice in a great neighborhood. The hotel and my room seem due for a renovation (although bathroom was renovated), but my room was clean and quiet with big windows overlooking the street and bed was comfortable. If you want price and location and don’t mind aomewhat dated decor, this is a great option.

A lovely stay at this very well located hotel, across from the Louvre and a few blocks from Musee D'Orsay. I was staying for 36 hours and it was nice and centrally located to allow me to get to all the areas I needed. Easy to get to from Gare du Nord (no line change needed). Room facilities were great, slippers provided, nice toiletries and tea/coffee facilities. Very comfortable bed. Was very pleased to have ability to have windows open. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Hotel in a quiet street and I slept like a log!

Excellent location, the room was surprisingly spacious. Huge bathroom, with a full bath, and a full range of toiletries.
The hotel has, however, seen its best days (long ago), and the room, while reasonably clean, was not in the best condition (think chipped corners and walls). Oddly enough, the bedding was inside out, and on second day, the house cleaning took our dirty towels but didn’t replace them with new ones…Also, the water from the tap had a very strong chlorine taste (but that’s sth that the hotel cannot influence).

I had a great time at this hotel. The location was superb. I was 3 blocks from the Louvre, 3 blocks from the Musee d'Orsay, 1/2 mile to the Musee d'Orangee and 3/4 mile to Sainte Chappell and Notre Dame. By American standards, my room was small. But I travelled alone and the room had all I needed.

The TV had limited options in English. The WiFi worked very well so I wish I had taken my own Roku. I'll bet I could have streamed anything I wanted if I had had a Roku.

The hotel provides breakfast each morning. I didn't understand until checkout that the breakfast costs €15/day. The hotel does not have a restaurant for lunch and dinner but there are many options in the neighborhood.

I had a wonderful time in Paris. Everyone was very nice to me.

Typical Small Parisian Rooms, But Great!

Rooms in Paris are just small, which I'm accustomed to. The bathrooms are often small as well, with the toilet in a separate closet, which is not the case here. The only thing to be aware of is that the showers are tiny - I kept hitting my elbow on the glass enclosure. Otherwise, the bed was one of the most comfortable that I've had in France, the staff were very friendly and the location is a convenient walk to the Louve & the metro. I'd stay again!

Hotel was disgusting. The room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The dirt and dust accumulation was unbelievable. The bed was barely made. I immediately contacted Expedia to make them aware of my dissatisfaction. The hotel refused to refund my money and I had to pay to stay somewhere else. Any positive review of this place is fake and I’d advise anyone stay far away!

This was a perfect hotel for our stay in Paris. Very close to the river on the opposite bank of the Seine to the Louvre. Plenty of restaurants very close. We had three single rooms which were very comfortable especially as their air conditioning was excellent. Even through the hottest Parisian day ever the rooms were lovely and cool. Sleeping was easy because of this and the extremely comfortable beds. The rooms were very quiet. The staff were excellent with a very light and charming touch - very good humoured too. Breakfast was continental as you might expect and plentiful. Omelettes and other egg dishes could be ordered and they were excellent. For us, this friendly hotel could not be bettered.

I loved how close this place was to the Seine, Jardin du Tuileries, and the Louvre. Moreover, the neighborhood it is in is full of antique and interior design stores. It's a beautiful and quiet area plus the staff was so helpful even though I didn't speak French too well. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was very well situated for the galleries and museums that I wanted to visit. There are also a lot of very good restaurants within a few minutes walk. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Oliver on reception sent information in advance of my stay about the easiest metro line to take from Gare du Nord (line 4 to St Germaine-de-Pres) and details of local restaurants. The woman serving breakfast was also very friendly. My room was small but fine, quiet and warm (it was snowing outside). Very pleased I stayed there.

Great location but has other issues

The location of the hotel is the real reason you stay here, being less than a ten minute walk from the Luve and less than 15 from Notra Dame. The bed was comfortable and the place was clean. The shower is weird as the glass cover on covers part of the shower and the shower head did not actually fit in it’s holder, so you had to hold it. You can hear an elementary school across the way and they are loud at all hours of the day. We paid for a breakfast to be included with the room but the employees still tried to charge us 15 euros more to eat there and we had to go somewhere else for breakfast. The cleaning staff also ignores do not disturb signs and will walk straight into the room to clean no matter what. The staff was friendly, but suffers from the aforementioned problems. Also the elevator is tiny, but all elevators in France are.

We liked this hotel better than the Fairmomt Hotel in San Francisco that is $500 per night.

The rooms are beautiful, classic French decor with updated, modern bathrooms. The central air system and WiFi were great - no problems at all. The area is perfectly located close to everything and in a quiet area. The staff are extremely helpful and kind: the men at the front desk and also the woman who does breakfast every day. She even gave us coffee as we checked out of the hotel for because she remembered how much my husband loved getting his coffee every morning!

I would love to stay here again. I am recommending Hotel de L’Universite to everyone I know going to Paris. We hope to stay here again whenever we return.

Trust me, stay here! You’ll love it!

I'm so glad I chose this hotel for my first trip to Paris. The hotel staff were excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was in a great location and close to shops and cafes. There was an issue with the hot water when I arrived and unfortunately the problem continued for most of my trip. However, the hotel staff compensated me for the inconvenience. I plan on visiting Paris again and I would certainly stay in this hotel again.

The hotel's location was good - quite a few late running buses and trains a 10 minute walk away. The Louvre was also only a 10 minute walk away. The room was spacious. However, the WiFi was patchy, and most importantly, the hot water cut out quite a lot. Upon check out, I asked to leave my luggage with reception. I was told to put it in a room off to the side which was not locked and the luggage was not labelled. When I went to pick it up, I was told to grab it myself. The whole thing made me uneasy as it was obvious that the security of people's valuables was not a concern. Overall I would not recommend this hotel to a friend.

The hotel was fine... clean, middle-of-the-road kind of place. Location is very near the d’Orsay, but if you’re looking to be near a metro, you have a bit of a walk. Also a bit to the neighboring areas where the restaurants are. If you want a quieter area, this works. Overall a fair place for a fair price.

Very nice family run hotel in the middle of Latin Quartier with very helpful staff. Very quiet and close to everything and anything. My stay was very pleasant at the Hotel. I was travelling on my own and felt comfortable at the hotel. I liked the 24hr concierge and the quiet street. My room was just perfect. View over grand Paris patios with windows which opened so I didn't need to have the aircon on all the time.

I left something in my room and the hotel kindly posted it to me!

Polite and efficient staff.Good hotel near bridges to the Louvre and Notre Dame and down the road to the Musee D'Orsay and Latin Quarter.
We had a superior room and the room and beds very comfy and with a little seating area,Good bathroom with separate bath,shower and toilet area.
2 wardrobes-1 in the bathroom area and 1 in the bedroom, which also contained a safe and mini fridge.
No tea making facilities,I don't know if there was 1 available as we didn't ask at reception.
We did not use the small bar/breakfast area so cannot comment on this aspect.
Places to eat and drink around the hotel and St Germain.

Wonderful Hotel , close to the Louvre Museum !

I chose Hotel De L'Universite because it was within walking distance to the office of Paris City Vision , the company which i booked most of the guided tours during my visit to Paris. The room I had was perfect for a single traveler like myself. It was comfortable and clean. The room had a safe which is convenient so you dont have to carry your valuables all day in your pocket or purse. The front desk attendant Rino was extremely friendly and spoke perfect English. One more thing I should mention. Every time you leave the hotel you must turn in your room key card to the front desk and then when you return they give it back to you. I found that strange , however once I got used to it , it was no big deal. If you visit the Louvre you can easily walk there from this hotel. For visiting the Eiffel Tower or Arc de Triomphe i recommend a taxi to save you time. Also, there is a Monoprix nearby if you want to buy groceries to take to your room.

Employees were kind and helpful - beadsheets were dirty 2 nights in a row despite them being changed out. Also, there’s some kind of a club next door in the basement and one night it was noisy until the early hours.

We first stayed at this hotel about 45 years ago and on several occasions in the interim. The location is great and the hotel charming. We will return again I am sure.

Affordable 6iem Option

I've been staying with L'Université for 20+ years. It's probably the most affordable charming hotel amongst its peers in the very chic 6iem arrondissement. Recent hotel upgrade - though made it more 21st century - took away that antique Parisian feel that it used to exude. Still, a comfortable and friendly place and wonderfully located in the heart of the Saint Germain district.

An affordable place in the heart of the posh 6iem.

I've been staying with L'Université for the past 25+ years. Its location and value are hard to beat in one of Paris's most charming and elegant quarters. Staff have always been friendly and helpful. It was remodeled recently so all amenities and rooms are up to modern standards, yet in the process, it lost part of that old antiquity appeal. Bathrooms could have used some extra counter space. A rare value when compared with other hotels in the area.
