Nice hotel in a great location. The bathroom was a good size — something that can be hard to find in France. My only critique is that one of the front desk staff, the gentleman with the beard, could improve his customer service skills. That said, I still give this establishment five stars overall.

The location of the hotel was great, near restaurants, the chateau, and other main attractions. The staff of the hotel were very helpful and had enough English fluency to compensate for my measly French. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. The next door restaurant is wonderful!!

Air conditioning had not been working for days before my 24 hour cancellation window expired and didn’t say that the a/c wasn’t working, and wouldn’t be working the entire time we would be there. Discovered this when we got into our room and there was a letter in the bed stating it was not working, offered as much ice and water dispenser water that we wanted. I could have gone elsewhere if they had told me the situation. Had to sleep with the windows wide open and the noise outside and street lights of course led to not sleeping the entire stay! Don’t even offer a free breakfast or free parking to say sorry about the situation!

The gentleman checking us in was not very friendly. The other gentleman was awesome & helpful! Hotel needs updating - no carpet in room. Balcony area was crumbling which took from what would’ve been a very nice view. 3rd bed was a pullout couch.

We spent 4 nights in the hotel. Our family got 2rooms We scheduled room cleaning every other day but only 1 room was cleaned once. When we returned we need to ask for extra towels because no one cleaned both rooms.

the room was perfect. the bathtub was ever so nice! The doors to the street were lovely and the entire suite was charming. a bit of cream for the body should be included. Travelers from the US visiting more than one spot in Europe expect that for about 300 euros tioiletrieswould be included.

Best Western Royal Hotel was a superb place for our stay in Caen. The facility itself was well designed, very clean and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast was well prepared and prompt. There are several restaurants with walking distance. The staff were fluent in English which was especially helpful for us. We would definitely stay there again.

An underground car park is opposite the hotel at euro 19 for 24 hours so made it easy to get to the car during storms, although car spaces were tight and much manoeuvring required.
Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.

Caen is a very nice city. The hotel was close to the bus system allowing us to get around without having a car. The hotel staff was very informative and helped us with any questions we had. We stayed her for two nights allowing us to visit the Caen museum and have our personal tour of the DDay sites. Would go back if ever in the area.

Location was very good. Receptionists were very helpful,
in particular one who was totally fluent in English. In
the breakfast room I observed that the knives and forks
were placed with the handles at the bottom of the containers with knives and forks. It means everybody
will touch the part you put in your mouth when they pick up
theirs. It is also a health code violation (at least in the US).
When I took my concerns to the reception they said, actually some other guest pointed it out also, but I do not think they will change it while you are here! REALLY. S I did not take breakfast any more in the hotel..

This hotel is in a good location although if your room faces the square it's a bit noisy at night. This didn't matter to us as it was great for people-watching. The hotel is clean and bed was huge. The staff were very unwelcoming on our arrival, they offered no map or information about the City. We had to ask about breakfast, and places to eat for dinner. It wasn't explained to us that thete was a guest bar/lounge. Different staff member next morning, same unfriendly demeanour. Although we reported that pipe under our bathroom basin was leaking, it remained unfixed for our stay. The 2 women working in breakfast room were the only helpful people we encountered. However, taxi drivers in Caen were great!

Great location, friendly staff, spacious comfy rooms and a car park just feet away. It was ideal of a one night stop over for us but would also be a good centre for a few days. Restaurants just a short walk away and a nice breakfast. Would have preferred non machine coffee but it was still good.

A great Best Western in Caen, France

This Best Western is the best we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Situated on a public square with easy access to restaurants, bakeries, historic sites and public transportation, it is ideally situated.
The staff were extremely helpful and gracious. Caen is a great place to base for short trips to the area and the beaches of Normandy.

Very clean hotel. Only provided 1 set of towels for 2 guests, had to ask for more. Also only 1 bottle of water. Room was very small, bathroom was good, great shower.
Location was excellent, very central, easy to walk the city. Parking across the road, get ticket from hotel before you enter the car park for best rate.
Very good breakfast, plenty of choices.

This checked many things, like easy parking, conveniently located in the middle of town with plenty of restaurant choices. Make sure to reserve a table in town for dinner. Caen has great ublic transportation. The roooms were clean and the reception was very helpful when we had questions. As usual in France, if you speak French, you will have it a little easier. Breakfast offered great choices.

The room was fine, a little cramped in the bathroom and at the back of the hotel so no view from the window just the back of buildings however the bed was comfortable and clean, air conditioning worked and the staff made up for the rest, the picture is not what to expect, parking nearby and easy to use, breakfast is continental buffet with scrambled egg as the only hot item. That said as a base it is fine.

This is a very good three star property. Though the bedroom was a bit bare, the beds were very clean and comfortable and the bathroom was very good. This hotel has an excellent location a short stroll from several good restaurants and brasseries. Moreover, all the cultural attractions are within a 15 to 20 minute walk (except the Memorial Museum, which lies outside of town). There is an excellent parking garage right in front of the hotel (under the Place de la Republique. Highly recommend this property.

The property overlooks La Place de Republique. At night it was frequented by rowdy drunks up to 2 am in morning. Police were called on one occasion.Had to close windows to cut down on noise but air conditioning was not working so room was too hot.
Breakfast facilities were limited so was not worth having.

The hotel looks nice on the outside and is conveniently located, however our room looked like a cheap motel. The worst was the old, stained carpet and the smell in the room was awful. We opened windows to air out but there’s a cafe right under with people smoking so that didn’t help. On top of it all there was loud music until 1am which kept us up. I was glad we only had one night there.

A good ultra downtown option

This is a super downtown hotel, amongst the shops and cafes of Caen and a very short walk to all the central attractions. Efficiently run. Rooms a tad on the small side. Restaurant downstairs with breakfast options at the hotel and in the surrounding streets.
