Great couple of days stay here. Convenient for us as it was very near to the hospital. Rooms clean and spacious. I would recommend the restaurant. Food was great and staff were very welcoming. Drinks were a bit pricey. Overall good value for money

The Mercure was great, great location, comfy room and very well located. We used it for a stop before the early Caen ferry and it worked really well. It’s an easy Walt to the nearby shops including a very good Carrefore for any last minute shopping or food for the ferry. The staff were warm and friendly and we will definitely make it a regular stay now we’ve been there 😀

Friendly staff, free parking, very comfortable room, we booked two rooms and we were given interlinking rooms without having to ask which was very thoughtful and appreciated. We had a notification the day before we arrived to say there would be no restaurant in the evening while we we're there. We ate lunch several times during our stay and along with breakfast the food was excellent.
Side note: Hotel had been taken over by US veterans and their support for D-Day, the veterans were inspiring and friendly, their support less so and a little overwhelming.

Mercure Heuroville-St.Claire staff was great and very helpful. The restaurant was quite good but a very limited menu. Breakfast was excellent! Our room was okay but too hot after the whole hotel AC was turned off. We had no way to just run the fan or open a window. It was also in an industrial area that we will avoid if we return to the Caen area.

Nice bathroom with good water pressure but only one bath towel in a double room - we had to ask for one for the second person. Very dark room, only small high level window, cause there is an ugly roof going up until far, dark carpet. No minibar/fridge. This is more like a 3 star room to me.

Bedroom smelt musty and needed a good airing. Hotel is located on the edge of an industrial estate so not a very nice area - fine if you're on local business but no good if you want any choice of food other than the hotel restaurant. Bar and restaurant OK and the staff quite friendly - certainly better than the rude, brusk reception staff.

Close to Caen ferry and Bayeux. Easy to get to and good parking. Comfortable rooms (with Tea Making Facilities!). Decor a Bit tired but overall very good value.

We arrived late and tired so were very happy that the hotel was situated in a quiet area. The bed was comfortable but a heavy duvet for such warm weather. From the photos I expected a coffee pod machine but just a kettle. At least we were able to make a hot drink. Wi fi was awful, kept dropping out so ended up using 3G the whole time. breakfast was automatically charged on our bill which we hadn’t had. Checkout was unfriendly and unsmiling. Not asked if we had had a nice stay or slept well. Perhaps the morning receptionist didn’t like foreign visitors.

Very convenient for the Caen ferry with easy access and secure parking. We arrived quite late and received a courteous welcome. The room was clean and comfortable. The main areas were fine but the corridors looked a little tired. We did not book or take breakfast but were told on checking out that the breakfast charge of about 15 euros per person was automatically added to the bill unless the customer asked for it to be removed. It was not the best start to the holiday to have to sort out an additional bill which was not owed. However we would recommend this hotel as a good stay over before or after a ferry crossing or as a base to explore Caen

Very convenient for ferries from Ouisterham. Hotel served dinner on Sunday evening, a rare event in France even when hotels advertise a restaurant. Secure parking on site is alsi a binus for us. Will use this hotel again.

The staff at the hotel was absolutely amazing. They were very friendly and very accommodating. The food in the hotel was excellent. The room was clean and well maintained. Where this hotel really fell short was the location and lack of options around it. The only restaurants that were close had very odd hours and were about an 11 minute walk from the hotel. And they were limited options. There is a bus stop outside of the hotel. But other than that if you stay here a car is mandatory. I would not recommend it on a tourist vacation, with no rental car. But for business or if you have a car I would highly recommend it. Parking is free at the hotel if your a guest. And it’s gated. So that’s nice. The area is also a clean and safe area. Overall it was a wonderful experience. I really can’t thank the staff enough tho. They were superb.

Fairly comfortable hotel in a good location just outside the city centre. Great access to the tram network with a stop just across the road. Public rooms look like they have undergone recent renovation, but the rooms could do with similar attention. Having said that they are clean, tidy and in good order.

This hotel won't win any prizes for external appearance, nor really for the rather drab internal décor, or location. However, when I stayed with my two brothers for our visit to the D-Day landing beaches,it was well appointed and clean, and the staff were all very friendly, in particular the manageress of the restaurant at breakfast. The breakfast itself was very good: freshly squeezed orange juice as well as the standard type; fresh fruit salad; grilled sausages and bacon to go with the scrambled eggs; Nespresso coffee machine as well as the standard filter variety; and a good selection of cereals, cheeses, charcuterie, cakes, breads and croissants etc. All in all, a very good selection in a very pleasant restaurant. Although the location of the hotel was not great (in a commercial area on the outskirts of Caen), it was ideal for getting onto the ring road by car, and there was a tram stop two minutes away giving a good, cheap service into the city centre (once you master the intricacies of the ticket machine: we had to ask a local for help!). I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Hotel was lovely and close to Beny Sur Mer Canadian War Cemetery and the Beaches of Normandy by car. Staff were friendly and helpful. Coffee and tea in room. Awesome restaurant, breakfast was generous and yummy! No elevator but our room was on the second floor so manageable. Parking was free with WiFi too. Price was very good too. I would go back again.

Not exactly a charming area but the location is very convenient for major routes to the historical sites (Bayeux, D-day beaches etc) as well as tram into central Caen, stores and outlets very close. Plenty of parking. Restaurant very quiet but food good. Service staff very pleasant. Minor negative points - rooms a bit damp (combination of understrength extractors in bathroom and rainy weather); free WiFi painfully slow; only one (intermittent) UK TV channel). However, for convenience, I would certainly stay there again.

This was a typical business persons hotel, totally functional and devoid of character. However it meet all the requirements for our overnight stay being clean and tidy. The staff were very helpful, giving clear information in response to questions.

End of holiday rest
We stayed at this hotel at the end of a three week stay in France and were delighted with it. Reception and restaurant staff were very helpful and courteous. Meals were very enjoyable and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The location is great for access to Caen centre and the tram service is very efficient.

Never Stay with Lying Mecure
My poor experience with this hotel started with checkin. I had reserved a triple room through Expedia only to be given the key to a double. The hotel refused to honor the actual reservation and later refused later to refund or reduce the price I was charged. The basis for the refusal was their own lack of triple rooms.
The halls are old and dingy in the hotel and when we tucked in for the night we were greeted by the smell of a man's armpit. The sheets had not been washed or changed. It took thirty minutes for new sheets to come. Why you might ask? Because this supposedly three star hotel is manned by a desk clerk, bartender and waiter and no one else at night. Also the sheets were for a twin bed. Don't worry though, the bartender will bring you an extra set of twin sheets if you ask.
Finally, I booked this hotel for the laundry services. There are no services on the weekend. Despite what the expedia webpage says there are no facilities to do laundry in the building. The helpful staff will link you with a run down laundromat about two miles away if you really need to clean your shirt. Finally, the location is in the middle of a semi industrial park nearby an ugly multi-storey hospital and a run down Carrefour or K-Mart type store.

This hotel was close to the road to the D Day beaches but not much else. The room was okay especially for three. The hard surfaces needed updating, but the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The desk staff spoke very good English.

My family recently visited Normandy for D-day anniversary and we chose this hotel because it is nicely located to visit many places by car. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the hotel is kept in nice condition.
Upon leaving, we forgot a very valuable item in our room and realized it a few hours later. When calling the hotel, they had already found it and worked out a way to send the item to us. We thank them for their honesty and great service!

The food was extremely good and apart from the breakfast, reasonably priced. Breakfast was expensive but kept us going all day without need for a midday meal. The hotel staff were friendly helpful and courteous and most spoke good, often colloquial, English.

A truly nice experience. No significant negative comments. We have recommeded that the Mercure Tour Effel in Paris go to Caen and see how things should be done ! A 3 star hotel outshone a 4 star hotel in Paris.
