It was clean and staff was helpful. Well appointed room with comfortable king bed and full kitchen appliances.

Really the only problem was our TV didn't work and no one ever fixed it after 2 asks. We were in the room so little, it wasn't a big deal, but had we been, it would have been.

It was really noisy on the street outside our windows (we were facing the main street) but the city has a curfew and right at 10 pm most all the noise stopped and was easy to go to sleep.

We found the walk to Tiger stadium was a little too far…we are 74 years old. So take that into consideration.

We stayed here this past weekend. The room itself was big & spacious. The front desk attendant however was pretty rude when we arrived. We are from out of town so tried to call & see if we could check in early but just got left on hold. Upon arrival (we were about 30-45 minutes early) we asked if their was any early check in and she said check in was at 4 accross the board without even checking if any rooms were ready… we then asked if we could store our bags at least and she said do we look like we do bag storage which is a pretty rude way of communicating that wasn’t an option. We returned later after getting some food and there was a new desk attendant who was much kinder a young gentleman and he had a much better attitude & responses. The room itself was a lot bigger than expected & very spacious. The location is pretty central so within walking distance to a lot of sites/ food etc. the building does have a lot of interesting characters that hangout out front (homeless etc) but they didn’t bother us we just went on our way. I would stay here again for the price point/ convenience but if you’re looking for the 5 star hotel service/ experience this is not it. It feels more like a airbnb or rented apartment.

We were in Detroit for the Movement Festival and it was just such a good time. The hotel was very nearby good food and walkable to the venue. Plenty of parking across the street, decent market on the corner. Couldn't complain.

The staff here was very kind and welcoming. My room was spacious, but the smell from the cleaning supplies was very overwhelming. It's an older building, so parts feel run down, and they do not have baggage storage if your room isn't ready, or you need to check out hours before a flight. The location is good, too, Walkable to many things. It served it's purpose since I only really needed a bed and shower for a work trip, but I probably would choose a traditional hotel next time.

The photos make it look nicer than what it is. The rooms are a bit run down/beat up and dirty. The floor was sticky, we found cooked spaghetti on one of the chairs, coffee maker was full of moldy coffee grounds.

Shower had great pressure. Bed was comfy but the sheets didn’t fit properly, we were missing a duvet cover and the front desk got me one.

We loved our experience at this hotel. The rooms are very spacious, and very clean, and quite quiet, considering you’re right downtown Detroit! The location couldn’t be any better to attend any of the local attractions, weather for sports or arts! We had three room rooms rented total for our family, two of the three were fantastic one was definitely dated and dirty and not well attended to. No frills in theory, however, the apartment style would be great for a family or someone staying long-term and in Detroit.

The staff at the front desk were super nice and helpful. The room definitely could have been cleaner. The couch was dirty, the floor looked clean (well swept) but was actually filthy, as the floors that turn my new pink wool socks black on the bottoms. Stains on the towels and bathroom shower curtain but you get what you pay for. This was by far the cheapest hotel downtown during our stay so I suppose I would stay there again. As a bonus the unhoused people outside the hotel were kind and respectful which helped me to feel grateful that I had a room to stay in despite the flaws.

First, my room was huge, about 1000 sq ft, with a full kitchen. This place would probably be better suited for long term rentals. The room was 80% clean, but the lobby was very disorganized and dirty. There was also wear and tear damage throughout the hotel, that should be cleaned and repaired. The staff was friendly, but not very engaged; need more hospitality oriented training. There were also some shady characters milling about the entrance to the hotel. Understand it’s Detroit and there’s not much the hotel can do about it, but it’s worth noting. I had a very uncomfortable exchange with someone who wanted to use my phone. Also, you have to pay for parking in a lot across the street. $60 for two nights!
All in all, a decent affordable option, but would be better as a long term rental, they need parking, to fix up the lobby and common areas, and give the staff some more training.

No parking on site. They wanted to charge me $50 to check in 20 mins early and the room was ready. Door lock system was terrible, didn’t work when I got back to my room around 11pm, same as the other group of guests in the lobby dealing with the same issue. Overall not a great experience, but the price was right for that date cause everything else was booked.

It’s a work in progress. The rooms are renovated but not the cleanest. My bed was broken and they were full so I lived with it. They had those cloth ikea platform bed, and there were stains on the cloth bed frame. I was charged in full on my hotels . com account for the room 5 days before check in, despite selecting “pay at hotel” option when booking. It went on a card I didn’t want it to go on, so that was unfortunate . The hotel is very close to the transit center and the area is a bit sketchy. It's Detroit, and I’m from Michigan, but still worth noting. The suite was nice, and it was affordable. I would call it adequate.

We are here for a conference held in Huntington Place. The location is perfect for airport shuttle. The stop is right in front of the hotel and shuttle only costs $6. It is also walking distance to the downtown with a lot of restaurants. First floor has a deli shop for some basic groceries.

This was one of the worst experiences I've had traveling. Went to check in, they gave us a room that was not clean, had blood on the sheets, no pillow cases and no duvet cover. It was filthy. Then when we asked for a new room we were informed that there were no clean rooms available. We had to leave to find a new hotel. Which whatever. Just give me a refund and I will move on. BUT...They left us checked in for the night. Now we are fighting to get a refund for the night that we didn't even stay at the hotel. That's what I am really annoyed most about. Being short-staffed is one thing but making it a headache for me to get a refund is just really ridiculous!

I enjoyed my stay. Don’t book thinking it will be upscale, it has its moments but it is charming in its own way. Our view of the city was nice but the windows had water stains. However, compared to other hotel prices in the area, I’m not complaining. Don’t expect a quiet area as it is downtown so the streets are loud at night. My only issue was the fire alarm going off in the middle of the night and middle of the day when we were recovering from being woken up that night. Both were false alarms but the staff did a great job at ensuring everyone made it downstairs safely. Also, the dryer didn’t work in our room so our clothes and towels were wet from the washer but since we were leaving the next day it wasn’t a big deal for me. Overall the staff were friendly and helpful and I had no issues with them.

Property was in a great location. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Our room was clean except for the floors - and you couldn’t tell visually bc they are dark grey laminate. But after walking from shower to closet for clothes, feet were dirty. Black out blinds were incredible and so was the view. Very tall windows. Nowhere to sit except for a kitchen chair or the bed. Finishes were a bit worn, nothing detrimental. Not sure I would stay again - it was okay.

Upon an arrival multiple cop cars swooped in and began arresting people in the vicinity. The area surrounding the hotel appeared dangerous with curfew signs all around. The room I was assigned was dirty and not cleaned or still had guests in it. They did assign me another room which was clean. However there was no hand soap for neither sink. The parking across the street was sketch and $30 a night. Overall the area the hotel was located seemed dangerous and unsafe.

The hotel knew I would be in late, had hotels.com reach out and connect with them before we got there. Flight was delayed. When arrived the card reader “was down” and was given a code to get in the room at 1:30am. When I got to the room I thought I must have been given the wrong room number and that someone else was there because the room was a mess. Quickly went back downstairs and was told that the cleaning service had not been to the hotel “yet” today. Mind you it’s 1:30am. The front desk was extremely rude. Instead of offering another room they said I could take a seat and wait a couple hours for the front desk to clean the room? Yuck. With what materials? At 1:30am.
Checked online and the hotel had several open and available rooms. The person at the front desk said since it was booked virtually we wouldn’t get a refund so it didn’t matter to them either way. Rude right? I am here on short notice for a funeral, flight is delayed and this is what happens. I don’t know how this hotel doesn’t have a zero. For the fraud they admit they commit, they should be kicked off the website.

The photos of this hotel are very misleading. The level of cleanliness was worse than any hotel we have ever been to. As soon as we walked into the room we could see debris on the floors. There was a thick layer of dust on the ceiling fans. There was white splatter all over the laundry machines and hardwood. The view from the large windows was amazing, if only the window panes weren't completely stained and covered in a thick layer of dust. And the icing on the cake was actual WEED, yes as in marijuana, on the window sill. We were in disbelief. This for sure means that the cleaning staff barely even attempted to clean the room. You can see patches and cracking on the walls like they are barely trying to repair them. It's obvious this hotel tries to cut corners by having limited cleaning staff. It's unfortunate because the building has so much charm and potential. If they only valued cleanliness and upkeep more it would be such a great option since it's in a convenient location and the rooms are spacious. I hope they listen to the reviews and try to improve.

It looks like an acceptable boutique hotel, but I told my business partners I would have been embarrassed if they hadn't booked somewhere else. Paint was chipping off the walls, the lobby felt like a mailroom, and my floors (laminate) in the room were greasy. No knock on the effort, but it was a notably disappointing stay.

The hotel is by a bus stop that has a lot of homeless people who sleep and stay there. I didn’t necessarily feel unsafe, but was heckled a lot for change, food, etc.
Everything inside was fine. Plenty of amenities. No issue with the keyless entry, as others complained about. Check in and out was a breeze.

We had a working toilet only one of three nights. Not only do they not have a 24 hour maintenance staff their one person was off the first two nights of our stay.

No luggage storage and they charge $50 for 2 hour early check in even thought the room was ready. So drag my suitcase through downtown Detroit or pay $50 extortion.

The location was convenient, and we appreciated the parking recommendation and discount. The full washer and dryer, along with the other appliances, were also a nice touch and would be especially helpful for a longer stay. The digital key made coming and going simple, and the front desk staff was friendly, though not always especially helpful.

That said, the overall cleanliness and upkeep were disappointing. There were no pillow cases or duvet cover (or top sheet) for the bed, and there wasn’t a full set of linens for the pullout couch. The sheets that were provided were stained. We also found dirty dishes left in the dishwasher, coffee grounds still in the coffee maker, and there was no trash bag/liner in the kitchen. It was also clear the unit had not been deep cleaned in quite some time—just walking around in socks left them noticeably dirty.

Our biggest issue was that the property is advertised and photographed as if it’s a much nicer stay than it actually is. If it were presented more honestly as a budget-friendly option—more of a step above a hostel—our expectations would have been different. The biggest improvement needed is better setting expectations for what guests are actually walking into.

This is my 2nd request regarding a review of this property. Let's say we have another reservation at this property and I'm unsure if we'll keep it.

Positive: Great location Downtown and within walking distance of everything downtown. The room was clean w/ the exception of one thing-I'll get to that later. Beds were nice and the water was hot.

Negative: Roku TVs-there was no WiFi. We followed the direction of hotel staff along w/ verifying the password. The WiFi in this hotel is terrible does not work. Hotel staff was not able to assist. There is no Manager to fix this. Ceiling fans were massively filthy and on full blast when we checked in. I instantly went into a sneezing frenzy. We reported this twice, but was advised no guarantee it would be cleaned (bare necessities at $235/ nite). The blind was broken; we could not pull the blind all the way down or up. There was a 6 inch space that was open at the bottom of the window, so we had no privacy and was greeted w/ the rising sun for two days. You will hear everything outside of your windows/ door. Bring Ear plugs. They should give you some when you check in. We were woken at after 1AM by the fire alarm and advised to evacuate the hotel; only to be advised false alarm - Bodega / Grill next door had a smokey grill. I wasn't able to get back to sleep until around 6AM.

Outside of what is mentioned, it's nice on the inside, water is hot and bed is comfortable. Full Room/ property audit is warranted

But main thing that we asked for check in earlier if available. We were checked in around 2 pm, still charged extra 50$ for early check in. Even we’re not informed before that. Their “usual” check-in is 4 pm.

The check in process was horrible. We arrived 1 hour before check in and they told us it would be an extra $50. We declined. We came back at 4:40pm (after check in time) to a lobby FULL of other people checking in. Some rooms were not even ready and people were waiting for much longer than expected. The upper management needs to do something for compensation, but I don't for see that happening. Not a great experience overall, but it was somewhere to lay our head.

the only suggestion that i can give is that they need a security guard outside of the hotel as the homeless follows you to the entrance of the hotel, can be stressful. other than that is excellent ! thanks!

The property has been renovated recently and is in good shape. The front desk staff refused to check anyone in until 4:00, there were close to 50 people in the lobby waiting in line. Some took until after 5:00 to get checked in. They obviously need more cleaning staff and better communication with them to get rooms ready.

The bathroom door lock was broken. The lights in the bed one of the bedrooms did not work at all. One of the lights in a bedroom made a strange sound if it was on. these conditions, make it very hard to say that the accommodations were good.
There was no one at the front door staff for 20 minutes when we arrived. A number of people were waiting by that time.

The staff was very friendly, and the location of the hotel was excellent. The rooms were not the cleanest, but well equipped, and the bed was comfortable. The internet was not working in our room while we were there which meant the television did not work. This is not a huge deal as we were there to visit, but it would have been nice to watch a movie before bed. I inquired about this and was told they would have a maintenance person look into it. I am not sure if they did as I was never informed. It would have been nice if they offered a discount of some kind because of this. There are many homeless people in the area, and they approach you as you enter and leave. I thought they could have done something to reduce or eliminate the problem. I never felt unsafe just an inconvenience to have to step over or around them.

We stayed here for a concert and we were unfamiliar with the area. But it was so convenient and lovely! 2 parking areas with 24-hr. Monitored parking. A small grocery store is downstairs and super convenient. The hotel staff were very sweet-even though everyone was stressed from a huge concert being booked in their city. Our room was amazing, and it made us want to always stay here for our trips in Detroit! We will be back!

They lost one of the rooms in our booking and offered us a worse room instead. The room they offered us was not cleaned when we got there, so we had to go back to get a different one. Amenities were limited. The rooms we did end up in were in okay condition, not the nicest, but okay for the price. Great amount of space in the 2 bedroom apartment room, decent kitchen, great views. Only gave two towels for a room that was advertised for 6 people. Had to call for more towels and extra blankets.

The young lady working the front desk was super nice and accommodating. Unfortunately, when I checked into my room, there was a few items left behind by the housekeeping staff. I know they recently went under a rebrand from Saunder so the marketing is a little bit confusing. I only stayed for one night so I did not utilize any amenities. It is essentially located and easy to walk to different music venues like Ford Field and Saint Andrews Hall.

Staff is very helpful and accommodating. Converted condos/apartments with zero soundproofing. Rowdy group of homeless people hang out outside and harass people walking by.

Waited in line for hour and a half just to be told they over booked and didn’t not have our room. Staff wasn’t helpful or sympathetic at all just said sorry nothing we can do for you. Had already been billed at that point and now almost a week later still haven’t been refunded

This weekend, I travelled from Canada to stay at this hotel that I booked well before the check in date. When I arrived at the hotel, I was NOT given the room I had pre-paid for because they had overbooked the rooms for the weekend. They DID NOT accommodate me. They DID NOT help me find another hotel. I had to find it on my own. I WAS NOT GIVEN ANY COMPENSATION FOR THEIR MISTAKE. And, I was not made aware of this until I got to the hotel on the day of check-in. They DID NOT send any emails or give any phone calls ahead of time to let me know that I would have to find a different hotel for the weekend. Absolutely no communication was made to me of their mistake. They waited until I physically got to the hotel at 6pm to let me know after travelling hours. This experience was extremely unprofessional, and the hotel staff were not kind or considerate of the situation they had put me. Worst experience and the worst customer service I have ever received. I will never book here again.

There are also a lot of homeless people outside this building with no security (from what I saw).

The room was fairly clean. A few areas I had to sweep or wipe down.

Full kitchen, separate bedroom and living spaces, and laundry was very helpful.

Couch was super comfortable and you could easily sleep an extra person on without unfolding the pullout.

The Hotel was absolutely 100% rude & unprofessional. My wife & I decided to get a room downtown for a friends 40th birthday. Check in wasn't untill 4pm... we showed up at 9.pm giving them plenty of time to have our room together & ready. We walk in luggage in hand ready to have a good everything together with some friends only tonbe told they have no room available for us anymore.. we were left to scramble @ 930 on a Saturday downtown to find other accommodations. Completely unacceptable. 0 outta 5 stars!!

Amazing space. Super spacious. However systems went down and was about a 30-40 min line wait but they mentioned it was the first time this ever happened to them before. Other than the wait, great space and great cozy place.

extreme disappointment regarding my recent stay at your hotel. While the room layout and city views were lovely, the condition of the room and the level of service I received were unacceptable.

Upon arrival, I found the room was dirty. There was food left on the table, food smashed into the floor, crumbs all over the rug, and visible dust throughout the space. Although I reported these issues via the text service provided at check-in, no assistance arrived. I was forced to use my own supplies to disinfect the surfaces myself.

Furthermore, the television in my room was non-functional. I requested assistance before leaving for an evening event and was assured it would be fixed. However, when I returned four hours later, the TV was still not working. I went to the front desk to follow up, and the staff member promised to come up and assist me personally. He never arrived, and I am still waiting for a resolution.

I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness and responsiveness
