I wish I could write a postive review about this stay . However I just cannot at this time . We booked though Expedia , a specific room type for the space , when we arrived we were placed into a different class of room. When I went to the front desk to inquire the women working was brutally rude and swore she upgraded me with a better view . While that was sweet of her I explained that we actually needed the extra space for our party and the view wasn’t that important . She went silent and gave us new keys , no words spoken . From there it got worse . The room was dirty, mould on the bathroom ceilings , and tub and vanity was cracked in half , some liquid split in the desk that seeped under the glass topper which was visible , dirty coffee maker , dirty tongs , dirty pillow . I expected a bit more from a 4 star hotel

This is a beautiful hotel with incredibly courteous staff. If you’re able to get a room that includes access to the club room on the 23rd floor, I highly recommend it, as you’ll have access to breakfast, snacks, and a continental dinner.

Stayed for business. Clean, spacious room, newer contemporary style bathroom, walking distance to the Federal courthouse and the downtown attractions. On side few dining options stake house and breakfast, Starbucks. Gym, pool and jacuzzi on the site.
One thing to note valet parking services were somewhat slow but maybe because it was weekend and there was only one robe and no disposable sleepers, also didn’t see any usual items in the bathroom such as shower cap. But overall I will definitely consider this hotel for my next visit.

Room was fine - very nice, actually. But snack in afternoon and paid-for breakfast were sub-standard and delivered very late. I was sick for three days with something I suspect was in the slowly-delivered snack and \"breakfast.\" Another guest also complained about slow service, and if there was a \"free\" breakfast, we didn't see it.

We paid more than we wanted to stay in a place with a heated pool and hot tub. When we arrived, the hot tub was temporarily closed and the pool was very cold. The rest of the location was absolutely beautiful. Just disappointing for children.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, but my room on the 23rd floor (2308) did not offer the view I had hoped for. While most of the staff were friendly and accommodating, a few seemed to put on an insincere performance. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but there is room for improvement.

I do like Westin but, I ordered the WiFi. I am a member of Marriott. I still got charged on my bill. After the concert, we returned to Westin. There was blood spots in the elevator floor. Left to Parlay bar, returned 2 hours later. The blood is still on the elevator floor. No one around to notify.

When we first arrived to check in at the front desk, staff were not welcoming. A staff member who checked us in barely made eye contact, responded with YEP when we said thank you quite a few times after asking questions. No directions were provided as to where anything in the hotel was. Ie. elevators, restaurants, pool.

We arrived at the room it was nice, very clean, housekeeping was accommodating, but there was a fake fingernail in the one of the sides of the bed. My son actually noticed this first when climbing in the bed. After the room was cleaned the next morning- the fake fingernail was still there.

Breakfast restaurant was over priced. Ex. 8.00 for a
cup of tea.

The pool and hot tub were a nice addition, once we found it!

Overall the hotel is beautiful with rich history. It would have been great to have been welcomed more appropriately, coming from Canada. It certainly left a bad impression on our part.

The room I booked online wasn’t available. The room I received was ok tho it had a pull out couch bed which was fine. The booking on Expedia had a breakfast buffet which you could add for an extra price per person. The hotel didn’t have a buffet but they offered vouchers for our breakfast since we paid extra. So I’ll call the hotel from now on to cross reference.

No local restaurants other than bars - not a place I would take children! I took my girls for more of an upscale get away, the hotel did not disappoint however that was it! Parking was not easy and expensive and nothing really food wise for them

Nicely appointed room. But no sitting area or table. The pilllows had some kind of anti-theft device. Room service was self serve. I pushed in the cart and extended the table. The place is very clean throughout and smells nice.

Parking is valet parking in a building behind the hotel.

Would stay here again for that amount of money. Probably not.

Things to know: Check in on the second floor. Elevators are tap a room key, a bit sensitive and sometimes had to tap multiple times.

Wish the room had more hooks in both the bathroom and room. It was such a spacious room it seems like a missed opportunity.

Housekeeping was very disappointing during our stay. The room was barely cleaned. Aside from changing the towels and making the bed, no real cleaning was done. I was especially surprised that during all three nights, the bedsheets remained extremely wrinkled. This was my first time staying at a Westin, and unfortunately, it did not meet expectations.

The front desk staff wasn't particularly friendly either. They mistakenly checked us out after our second night, which locked us out of our room. It took 40 minutes to resolve the issue and regain access.

To make matters worse, I later noticed a credit card charge for an early departure which we never made. We stayed for our full reservation. Trying to get a refund has been very frustrating and time consuming, with long hold times on the phone. Overall, the experience was quite inconvenient and left a lot to be desired.

The building was beautiful. Our room wasn’t vacuumed, there were tags and food on the rug under the desk. They did move us to another room and said they “upgraded” us but that wasn’t the case, if anything the room was much smaller. The rooms were decorated beautifully and the food options were great.

The Westin.

The Westin is amazing for sure! We had some hang ups that seemed to be easy fixes but it just kept getting passed to the next person and every time I would bring the issues to someone they would say “oh that’s unacceptable, go speak to *someone else*”. My biggest complaint is feeling gaslit over getting the wrong room. I paid for a delux room and was given a premium, or maybe the other way around. I wanted a bathtub and the luxury of that room, which is why I chose it. I was told this room was the same but when I first called to question my fridge and a lamp not working, I was told then that I was in a less than room and we should go to the front desk. Problem is, it was 11:00pm. We were so tired and beat up from the day. It was a bad travel day. Over all, I expected so much more from Marriott and the Westin. I want to stay again but I’m not sure I will put the money into a room again and not get what I paid for. I was told they won’t guarantee rooms booked through third parties. I wish everyone would work together and put together a rule book so guests who work hard for their money know what they’re up against. If I knew that, maybe I would do things differently. Also the room we were in was the loudest room I have ever been in and the temp of the water out of the faucet is only hot and enough to burn skin.

We stayed in the executive suite, which was big enough for my husband and I not to feel cramped. The bed was heavenly but the furniture in the living room was still and not comfortable to sit on for an extended amount of time. The hotel is in the heart of Detroit and easy walking distance to just about anywhere you would want to go. We took a dip in the pool and soaked in the hot tub. Both being very clean and welcoming. All of the staff was friendly. Would recommend for your stay downtown.

We stayed in an executive king suite for 2 days the water was rust brown the first night then a golden brown the second night, we called and so planned. We were told to just run the water. Just run the water ….. lol we ran it for over 80 minutes. Overall we were bummed but we will never stay here again. Very dirty

Unfortunately this stay could have easily gained a 5 star experience but my initial encounter made the visit lackluster. I typically am NOT a reviewer but the experience forced to pen this note.
I was checked in by a very curt and inexperienced attendant. She didn’t greet me or seem to want to help with me missing my first night there. She simply just asked me to present my ID and put my credit card into the reader. No “we will try to get a discount off on your missed night” or “let me place a note for my management”; she simply asked me to insert my card without even telling me how much I was being charged and asked how many cards would I like.
She was lacking a professional demeanor and unkind while painting a negative picture of us Detroiters being cold and stoic. In fact this is how she was. It ruined the trip and the initial experience especially for a stay at a luxury hotel.

Training is indefinitely needed in the customer service department for the Hotel Team. As a native Detroiter, I hope no one experiences this as it makes us look bad.
