This is a review of the best room they had to offer…. PLEASE BE AWARE! Sink was in the main room, infront of the bed. there was a lizard on wall when we walked in, the bed basically caved in when I sat on it, felt like a 15 year old spring mattress. It had a “partial” see view no niceties, the room was a very odd and outdated colour, hallways looked like they had been painted 20 years ago and never touched again, if I could imagine prison it would be like walking through the hallways and staircases of this hotel, no natural light very dark very gloomy. DO NOT BOOK

Room 504. Very small, basic room. Was fine for what we needed. Always provided 2 bottles of water and coffee each day. No wash cloths or hand towels, ever. Only 2 towels for shower. Partial sea view was very nice. Staff was nice enough. Although one gal was rude. She would keep eating at the reception desk even though she seen we were there. We would have to say something to get her to acknowledge us.
Hotel is right in the hustle and buatle of things. Could walk everywhere. We rented excursions, motorbike, ferries etc from Wannalee. Highly recommend. Very sweet man. 2 small streets down from hotel towards beach, same side of street. Much cheaper than online or other vendors.

Perhaps my excellent experience at my previous hostel set my expectations too high, but unfortunately I didn’t have a great stay here. The shared room I was initially assigned was quite dirty - overflowing trash cans, dirt and debris covering much of the floor (to the point where I didn’t feel comfortable walking without shoes), and even missing bed numbers.

I was able to switch to a private room, which I appreciated, though I was surprised that staff didn’t ask about the reason for the change. While the private room was an improvement, it still seemed in need of a thorough deep clean, as the floors, walls, and many surfaces were visibly dirty.

Additionally, the photos of the pool give the impression that it’s located on-site, when in reality it’s at a hotel slightly up the road, which felt misleading.

Overall, I wouldn’t return or recommend this hostel.

Make the most of your stay by expecting an upscale hostel and accept that you are paying 90 percent of the price for the proximity to the beach. They clean your room everyday and you can use the pool in the resort next door. Expect absolutely zero service or amenities otherwise, the reception is purely decorative. They occasionally buzz people in, that's it. If you are travelling alone or are a single parent you need someone else that can assist you in an emergency. Two phone calls and two messages 48 hours before arrival were not sufficient to organise something as simple as an airport shuttle. I still don't know if that's even a service they offer. Don't use the laundry or the dryer, they neither wash nor dry.
Bring headphones or earplugs. They only give you one keycard and all day long people try to get into their rooms by knocking loudly on the doors. Good luck.

Far too over priced for what it is, rooms are very basic and need a good scrub, the shower never drained and leaked into the bedroom every time you used it, nothing seemed clean and the more you looked the worse it got. Air con unit was so temperamental one minute hot the next cold and sometimes didn’t fancy coming on at all. Twice we put the ‘please clean the room’ sign on the door and our room was never cleaned. Swimming pool in the photos was actually at a different hotel, very deceiving. Staff were nice enough and good location but that’s as good as it gets. Would not recommend.

We stayed here in November 2025 and the best part of this hotel is the location. We could walk to the beach in a couple of minutes, and there were many coffee shops, restaurants and 7-11s right outside the front doors. We were even able to walk to the night market, which is a bit of a distance away (but we love to walk so this worked for us). The rooms were comfy and clean and we even got a deck (not something we experienced at other hotels in Thailand). We did not get to experience the pool, as it is shared with the other hotel located behind. The street out front is busy and noisy, but in a fun way! Bring your earplugs and enjoy the vibe. We were able to leave our bags in the lobby while we did some last minute shopping and exploring before we left for the airport, and I'm sure they would allow the same for travelers arriving before check in. As a mother / daughter traveling together we felt very safe and comfortable here and would stay here again.

Pros: The room had great AC (and the main lobby was quite cool at all times). The room with a view of the ocean was beautiful! There were hundreds of places to walk to for food and shopping and only a few minutes walk to the beach! We did not pay for breakfast, so I can't review that. But there were lots of places to sit which was great.

Cons: You have to walk 2 floors of steps up to the lobby to get to the elevator. My wife had a sprained knee and walking 2 floors up of stairs to the lobby was very uncomfortable. (And with rolling luggage was difficult)

Property for the price is very good.
My biggest complaint in traveling in the area is the lack of response whether it be emails or phone calls there’s nothing. We booked our trip well in advance and asked many questions and had no response whatsoever. this was an issue, not only with the hotel but also with Expedia when you book trips and hotels through Expedia, you should have somebody that can answer your questions. We tried many times to call this hotel and we’re not able to get through. The hotel is nice, but it also seems like a hostile it had sleeping areas within the front lobby, this really didn’t bother us, but I just wanted future guests know this. Also, the hotel is affiliated with the Hotel in the back. This is where the pool and food ares are located.
I would use this hotel again.

I was traveling with my partner for his birthday and this was our welcome to Thailand. The staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly. The property was very clean and the air conditioning worked very well, really important when it’s so hot outside. The surrounding area was right in the heart of everything. We walked to the beach, market, restaurants and everything was basically at your front door. We would recommend this place and will hopefully be back again soon!

Many issues with this place from the very beginning. At check-in we were told that the swimming pool isn’t at the hotel, we had to go to another hotel to use it. Even though from pictures it seemed like the hotel has a swimming pool. Went there once, didn’t swim cause they clearly didn’t clean it for a while.
When we got to the room we were dissatisfied with the way it was designed because there was barely any space for luggage for two people.
Then the fridge to keep the water cool didn’t really work, even after ‘an engineer’ visit.
But the breaking point was a red ants invasion. After we came back to the room from an excursion the were red ants all over one of our luggages. It was just so disgusting. There were so many of them. When I went to the reception a couple of times they initially offered a different room with a worse standard than what we booked. But then finally after complaining again and again they gave us a room with similar standards
Don’t book that place because it’s definitely not worth the price tag.

Hôtel décevant, propreté laissait à désiré. À notre arrivé dans la chambre, nous constatons que le plancher semble avoir été lavé avec une vadrouille sale, il y a des traces partout. Le miroir est plein de saleté et il est tout barbouillé. Certaines finitions étaient brisées. Le serviettes sentait mauvais, et ce pendant tout notre séjour qui a duré 6 nuits. Le matelas était trop dur pour nous, chacun ses préférences… La piscine est mal entretenue et verte.
Cependant, l’hôtel est très bien situé, a 5 minutes de la plage. Beaucoup d’ambiance dans la rue, jusqu’à tard la nuit. De notre chambre (415), nous n’entendions presque pas le bruit de la rue, mais nous semblions assez éloigné comparativement à d’autre chambre. Il y à près de 30 marches à monter pour se rendre à la réception de l’hôtel! Pas facile avec tous les bagages. Le déjeuner était très bien, beaucoup de variétés. Si vous payer plus de 150$ CAD c’est trop à notre avis. Nous ne recommandons pas cet hôtel si vous êtes habitués à un minimum de confort et de propreté.

Not a place to go if you want peace and quiet, often couldnt sleep. However the hotel behind it with which it had a breakfast and swimmingpool deal, behind it was amazing. Staff at both hotels were lovely and helpful, though I had to remind the cleaners to clean my room. Room spartan and basic. But central and nearto the beach. Otherwise it was more like a boarding house with multiple bed rooms. Should definstely have been cheaper for my noisy double room

I stayed in a 4-bed dorm and it was spacious. The room had a musky smell. The receptionists were sometimes helpful and sometimes lot. Their knowledge of English is limited and you get the feeling they don’t like tourists. If they don’t understand you they will say no or we can’t do that/help. I asked for washing powder and they said I had to buy it at the 7 eleven over the road but a speaking to a roommate is was 15THB to buy from there. You can use the pools in the nearby hotel which are good. The infinity pool especially

The hotel was perfect for us. We needed a clean place close to the Ao Nang beach for a good price. This hotel was very clean with 4 individual beds. The room had a nice shower and separate toilet with 4 individual beds, each with a curtain and there are also lockers for your stuff. Completely clean with daily room service. Also a self-service laundry. The location was key. About 1/8 mile from the beach or less. Surrounded by street markets. I very much recommend the Sultan restaurant between the hotel and the beach.

The water pressure in the washroom is poor. It kept stopping, was unsure with how the heater pump works as the water kept exchanging from hot to cold. The air conditioning was too slow, the air had to be manually adjusted to powerful as it was too warm. The structure of the sink being inside the room space was a little unusual.

Wake Up is in an excellent location. Just a short walk to the beach and the main part of town. The rooms are nice and clean. The pool is in the hotel next door as they are owned by the same people, which is a short walk from the hotel reception. Staff are friendly but had limited English. I would stay again.

Location good in middle close to beach but hotel in front of night club noise like I’m in the club can’t sleep like that , hotel crazy dirty everywhere it a hostel with have private rooms but it crazy dirty and look like stuff don’t care for the price we pay this is awful value , over pay , there 2 towels only no hand towel ,water in shower second running and then stop and cold water very slow , I can’t believe we pay 145$ this is crazy they should be shamed, pool look dirty and far from hotel so is breakfast for walk not the same building and is awful , like seriously for this price look something else , it just because we book last minute another way I newer come here , front desk stuff also rude not helpful I will later add photos no for kids or handicap, also hotel guests smoke and smell come inside my room , next door there some crazy person who going smoke every 20 minutes with her baby and baby crying like crazy while she smoke it was terrible poor baby , people some very trashy here , I mean if you like be around trash u can stay here I just end up here because last minute booking I didn’t know about this place , and to book this place from them cheaper then from Expedia we over pay

The perks: Location was great! About a two minute walk to the beach and surrounded by shops, restaurants, and bars. Very friendly staff.

This hotel only gives you one key for the room so if you are staying with family or friends you might to ask front desk to open the room. Also the air and power turn off in the room when you take the key out so if you want to keep the room cool you’ll need to ask the desk to open the room. A couple times after watching live music we got back late and had to call for assistance to open the room.

Overall for the price and location it was a good room.

Stayed at this property for three night. Female only dorm was clean and quiet. A small refrigerator was in the room. They gave a clean towel and bottle of water everyday. Area is walkable with easy access to beach. Staff was friendly and common area is clean and well maintained. No social activities though.

My only two complaints would be that the AC did not cool down the room too much and that the bathroom drain was not cleaned even after we asked to since the water was going down slowly.

The location is very good, close to the beach and plenty of surrounding amenities.
The hotel itself looked relatively new but not looked after. During our stay we were woken up twice by other guests banging down doors (one actually broken down and damaged) but because no one is on reception overnight nothing could be done.
Room and balcony were not cleaned properly, towels smelly and sheets not changed during 4 night stay.
We were able to use the pool in the neighbouring hotel which was great however this was dirty and green around tiles and lighting and bird poo all over sun loungers. Staff not bothered at all when another guest mentioned it to them.
Such a shame as this could be a lovely place to stay.

Such an incredible stay. We were only here for two nights but the service was top notch. We mentioned we were hiking Fansipan the next morning and the staff went out of the way to pack us a lunch. The room was comfortable and clean with a lot of thoughtful touches. I highly recommend staying here.

There is no reception staff for this hotel you have to check in at the hotel next door (which seems nice). Room wasnt overly clean and no pillowcases given on the first night. Shower in my room was awful, pressure kept dipping in and out so impossible to properly wash my hair. This was the same with the sink. Some cleber designer put the fan in tje room with the toilet and not the shower so there is no ventilation in the shower room. Only a small amount of toilet paper when i arrived and this wasnt replaced during my stay despite it runnjng out. You can use the pool as the hotel nearly and the location is close to the beach. Wouldnt bother staying here agian!

Staff was very helpful and accommodating. The air conditioner was fantastic although we had to sign out for a second key to keep the air-conditioning running during the day… Which is not a problem! They had fresh ice and a few little snacks if you got hungry. It is close to everything within walking distance. Lots of great food close by either restaurants and or street food. The beach is about a 2 to 3 minute walk. It is an inexpensive place to stay and we enjoyed it a lot. The only hesitation I would suggest is that when you take a shower sometimes the drainage is a problem. The staff was very quick to solve the problem and clean it up.

Very convenient location, next to the beach, shops and restaurants. We got a room for 4 people for 4 nights. Lobby is staffed 24/7. Friendly staff helped with luggage. Very clean. It also provides a washer which is helpful. Free snack. WiFi connection is the only downside (if my phone is idle for less than a minute, internet is gone, and I have to re-sign in. It is not automatic sign in). All in all, we highly recommend this hotel.

Excelent location, affordable price, clean and wonderful free coffee machine. Downsides no hand towels, the big towels are old and if you are in the front rooms it can be a bit noisy from the main road. Be prepared to climb about 30 stairs to get to the reception.

Wake up in Aonang

This is a modern building. Staff very helpful. Room was modern and clean with balcony. Only negative is no clothes storage so if long stay be prepared to holiday from your bag/suitcase. The hotel has access to the Krabi Tipa Resort which is great. Location is perfect for Aonang!

Great budget friendly, clean hotel

The good thing about Wake Up is that it never pretends to be anything other than it is: a budget hotel that is clean and comfortable. We stayed at other locations that tried to appear fancier in pictures but leave much to be desired in person. Not Wake Up—what you see is what you get. A clean, comfortable, budget-friendly hotel with an excellent location. I highly recommend.

Brand new hotel just 100 yards from Ao Nang beach - fantastic location. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Though it doesn’t have its own pool guests can use the pool at zKrabi Tipa resort - rihjt next door. Free tea, coffee and snacks 24 hours. Staff friendly and efficient. Shower hot and powerful.

Could have been better

What can I say . Mixed feelings .. rooms were clean and location good. However did not have the advertised black out curtains, the bathroom took ages to drain and there was a constant irritating noise from outside. The droan problem was reported but not fixed.

Nice place!

The place was very clean, great location, and had awesome service. Everything was good about the room except for 2 smalls nuances, both of which were because of the shower room. Roughly every 2 minutes or so, the water on the showerhead reduces from full blast to nearly non-existent for about 30 seconds. When the 30 seconds are over, it'll go back to fill blast for about 2 minutes again. The other issue with the shower is the drain. It doesn't drain fast enough, so the water will overflow a tad. Other than the shower, though, this place had great WiFi, a nice view, nice air conditioning, and was overall a very pleasant place to stay at! Highly recommended!

We spent 3 nights in AoNang. This location was amazing. So close to the beach. Walking distance to the markets, shopping & restaurants. Our room was clean and spacious.

Nice Hotel. Free Coffee and Cookies at reception along with free water. Clean Hotel and location is also good. Just less than 5 minutes walking distance to Ao Nang Beach.
