My group of 18 stayed here for Coachella and we had a great time! We booked 3 bungalows on the property and the space was absolutely perfect, we were even able to have a group brunch at their on site restaurant on the last day! We had the two bedroom bungalows and the space allowed us get ready without it feeling chaotic or cramped. The staff was so helpful and nice. An earlier check in was not available so the front desk even offered the spa as a getting ready area. We truly enjoyed our stay here, the amenities (nespresso machine and Apple TVs) made everything run smooth! Housekeeping was so thoughtful and even offered to come back to refresh the room while we were at the festival. Overall 10/10 and only a 5 min uber to the shuttle stop.
p.s. the pull out sofa is not that comfy but a small price to pay for the excellent service and beautiful grounds and pool you get to enjoy. Would stay here again!

This is a beautiful property in the heart of Palm Springs. It is a short walk to downtown and the property felt secluded and quiet. They had fun music playing at the pool during the day but never too loud. Multiple small pools and lots of greenery.

The showerhead broke and water started running behind the wall, making the shower unusable. Maintenance replaced the showerhead, but the new one has such intense pressure it felt like water torture. The shower is too small to move out of the direct stream, and the showerhead doesn’t adjust or move downward very easily.

Staff were wonderful and the grounds are very nice, but our room was horrible. It used to be a great place to stay, but there is zero decor on the walls, our bathroom door wouldn’t even close, and the couch in our room reminded us of something from IKEA. For over $600 a night, we expected to at least have some type of view, but nothing and the windows had film on them so you couldn’t see out. It’s like being in a motel!

The sliding door to the patio had been damaged as well.
The lighitng in the room was poor, cheap and substandard. The room overall had a dated and shabby appearance.
The hotel also slapped a $50 per day resort fee onto our bill which was not mentioned in the expedia listing. They also dedcusted $200 for \"incidentals\", which we had no control over.
In our case both of these were refunded when we complained about the condtion of the property.

I really like the boutique hotel it felt very private . Really enjoyed the amenities of a Pilates and yoga class. I feel the pool connected to the chi chi was a bit small . The larger pool was under construction . Enjoyed our stay highly highly recommend Bug spray my daughter was eaten up . Kaylee was amazing at the front desk ! My only recommendation specific to a suite there should be another option in the room besides espresso

We always have a wonderful time at The Avalon Hotel and Bungalows. We come from the Central Valley to Palm Springs a few times a year and always stay at the Avalon if possible. It is the quintessential Palm Springs hotel. Over the years we’ve tried other places, but always come back here due to the wonderful staff, beautiful grounds, and epic Mountain View’s from the property, which sits right at the base of the mountain.
In addition to providing magnificent views, the property is centrally located in Downtown Palm Springs. Shopping, dining, museums and nightlife are all within walking distance of the hotel.

This is definitely NOT a good hotel for elder people. This is an old apartment complex that has been converted to a hotel. There are many uneven concrete walkways and stairs. My husband fell and I fell on the concrete with him. We are in pain today and need X-rays. It was our wedding day and we chose not to go to the emergency room. We are 81 and 84. Definitely, the wrong hotel for us…cost for 1 night $710.06. Nice location…crappy hotel.

Peaceful relaxing place, the waiter at the restaurant charged us $15 for 2 house coffee at 8am to find out from the other waiter that we could get a complimentary house coffee by ourselves which wasn’t a difficult task for us to do however this kind of a sneaky service makes us to be cautious about everything else around the property and that is something that is taking away a full enjoyment that you could get even though everyone is nice at the property but one experience like this changes the atmosphere quickly

Yeah, I would say nice try but that is not the case. The Avalon puts its name on classic mid sixties Palm Springs building, charges a high price and calls it a day. The bathroom is like something from a Motel 6: Old tub/shower, mean towels. My room rate was $299. plus all the other fees. I could not find the switch to turn off the patio/balcony light and the front desk explained they could send someone up to unscrew the lightbulb. The lighting in the room comprises solely of 2 hanging pendants by the bed. No other lighting except a ceiling light at the entryway.

This is a wonderful, clean property with some of the best drinks I had during my time in Palm Springs. All the cocktails are made fresh to order, not premade, and the bartenders are highly skilled. The location is also very convenient, being close to the main strip. The room I stayed in was nice, though a bit small. As a Platinum Expedia member, I requested my complimentary upgrade but was informed that no upgrades were available during my stay. Unfortunately, towards the end of my visit, the water in my room was turned off due to waterline issues, and I was moved to a one-bedroom suite. While I appreciated the upgrade, I wish my platinum upgrade would have been honored upon check in to avoid the inconvenience of being without water for hours and having to pack up and move rooms.

The room needed some improvement with bathroom outlet not working and the tp holder falling off the wall. The light from the refrigerator was too bright so I threw a towel over it when sleeping.

The room needed some improvement with bathroom outlet not working and the tp holder falling off the wall. The light from the refrigerator was too bright so I threw a towel over it when sleeping.
I liked that we were able to use their bikes to tour around the neighborhood.

Very cute boutique hotel. We stayed in a suite and was surprised on how big it was - size of small apartment with full size fridge and kitchen area. Property is well maintained- although it is an older property. We stayed for relaxing pool time. Staff was great and food was good. One suggestion for improvement- toilet could use replacement for stronger flushing. It was very weak.

Lovely grounds but our room was nothing like the photos on line. We were out in a dark musty room in the back of the property- with barely a window. The shower was plastic. Walls super thin. I’m sure the bungalows are much nicer but the basic rooms were not worth the price. Pool attendees were so nice!! Yoga teacher was awesome 😎

Can’t help the weather! But a very comfortable place to stay. The only slight let downs are the plumbing - the shower was a bit weak and connects to the bath taps so a bit difficult to adjust to the right temperature, when all you want to do it set it to where you want it and leave it there. No hot water in the bath sink. Odd, but perhaps in keeping with a period property.

This was possibly the most disappointing hotel stay I have ever experienced. If you pay $60 for a motel, you know what you’re getting. If you’re paying nearly $600 a night, you’re expecting something pretty great. Alas- not here. Tired decor, shabby bare rooms with broken drawers, cracked walls and cheap plastic furnishings. The dark inter-room corridors were like a rundown Hollywood apartment block. We were so shocked. The pool area was rammed with tables and chairs- you’re literally stepping into other guest’s breakfast to get in and out of the water. We cut our stay short and left early the morning after we arrived to change hotels. I will say that the staff were really helpful and friendly.

Nice motel if you can get it for $200 a night
It is a nice run down motel. If any dog barked then they just texed everyone with a dog. I came back from a night club and my dog was asleep. Beware of there extra fees (about $100 a day?) The restaurant was good, and the staff was very nice. The bed was nice the room was old. I was $700 a night all in, and realistically a nice $225 a night motel. The valet staff were polite. And check in staff were very nice.

In both locations both rooms were incredibly noisy and no care was taken to reduce the amount of noise caused by other guests or staff. The value for the money paid was kind of appalling considering that from a base price of about $400 for a very basic room it rose to $500 with taxes, surcharges etc etc

For the price I expect the room to be more than essentially a walkout basement. 1) Our room was dug into the side of a hill with a slider and a concrete retaining wall, and no window at the room’s entrance so the room was dark, 2) there were no comfortable sitting chairs inside despite adequate space for two, 3) there were multiple extension cords under the bed that I can’t see how that is not a fire code violation, 4) no ice bucket in room (have had them in motel six), 5) had to go into the bar to get our own drinks after being in the pool area for 15-20 minutes in the middle afternoon without service.

Stayed at Avalon after doing tons of research on where to stay for a solo trip and it exceeded my expectations! I felt super comfortable being there as a woman traveling alone, and being so close to downtown made exploring, even at night, easy. The hotel is really cute and my room was thoughtfully updated. I loved having multiple pools to hang out at and the gym was really nice too! The staff was really attentive and kind. The food and drinks were good too. Highly recommend staying here!

The Avalon was a pleasant surprise. Customer service was excellent. I loved our room decor and cleanliness. I really needed a quiet adult weekend and that’s what I got. The grounds are beautiful, well kept and scenic. It’s walking distance to down town. I would only say our bathroom was tiny. No counters space at all. And there is no closet to hang clothes.
