Avoid this place at all costs. Unhelpful, unprofessional and unwelcoming staff. Working in bar/restaurant and hotel area alone. Waited 15 minutes on arrival to reception before going to the bar to ask for someone to come to the reception.
Reception area had wallpaper peeled and hanging off the walls.
Changed rooms twice. When I initially asked if we could see another room I was told with a very irritable tone “all our rooms are the same, tired and stained… this place hasn’t been refurbed in 30 plus years… due for one in September…!”..Reluctant to offer an alternative room.
In both rooms the decor/furnishings and furniture were more than extremely ‘tired’ - with black mould in the corners of the tiles of the bath Lino attached to the wall with duct tape in the bathroom floor. Stains and hairs on bedsheets, stains on worn carpets. Distinct odour of old cigarette smoke - masked with overpowering room spray. Damp.
Not to mention the corridor’s with unfinished paint around radiators - damp stains on the ceilings.etc..

This hotel should NOT be allowed to offer accommodation to anyone. My children and I were there to celebrate a special birthday. Instead we fled just 30 minutes after checking-in.
My children in tears, Hungry, tired. We had driven over 4 hours to get to this hotel. I had to search and find different accommodation at 6pm on a Friday evening. There was no one in reception when we left. It was the most devastating scenario for any parent.

We enjoyed our overnight stay at the weathervane. It was very good value for the money it cost. We had the breakfast included option and we're glad we did. The staff were very helpful indeed. We decided to have our evening meal there as well.
We both really enjoyed the food which was cooked perfectly and the prices were very much cheaper than we pay in Essex.

The staff were very friendly. The bar and restaurant were closed but we received a message and a phone call explaining this offering to refund us, no issues there. The beds were very comfortable and the room was fairly quiet. It was in a good area too, only issue was the bathroom had some black mould and the plastic water cups were very dirty.

Room was clean Altho needing a coat of paint and some decent from of house.
whole place needs a good painting and cleaning throughout the restaurant also,
The staff seemed stoned with a vacant stare on most of them walking around dirty tables with
Spray bottles and cloths but no cleaning being done, I had the same conversation with the girl on reception 3 times within 20mins and she didn’t realise it was the same person (made me laugh)

Yet…. no staff seemed to care.
When we asked the manager with the glasses and bald head to simply clean a table he was very unhelpful and rude at points swiping food debris onto my chair and lap as he made a miserable attempt to clean a table with a dirty old cloth
the reception service was an absolute joke
Asking the simplest of questions seemed to greatly annoy the staff here
as they happily ignored dirty tables and a que around the bar with 5/6 staff doing absolutely noting but gazing in the roof.
Very poor service, we won’t stay again

Sadely the late breakfast start times do not give me time to sample that option as I had a funtion to attend nearby. I wish the breakfast start was the same for weekends as weekdays as I am sure many have early starts at weekends.

Great Staff. Poor Room Condition.

The staff were brilliant, i cannot stress that enough. All were polite, attentive and professional. Sadly the room was very run down. Stains on walls, light fixtures at angles, floor in bathroom peeling away from wall, mould on windows etc. We chose this hotel due to its location. Next time we are in that area, it'll definitely be another hotel we stay in.

The hotel is tired in my opinion and would definitely advise anyone not to stay on the ground floor, you can literally hear every footstep from the room above! We had noise late into the night and early morning. Our adult children stayed on the 1st floor and could see there had been a recent leak in the 1st floor corridor meaning the corridor smelt very damp and the fire alarm was disconnected, really not sure that is legal. Breakfast was nice, but evening meal was below average. Sign on the bar door said no kids allowed and yet was full of them, Also young kids were running up and down the main corridors of the hotel whilst parents were drinking in the bar. The staff were super friendly and that saved it for us along with the price of the hotel…basically you get what you pay for !

We have stayed at this hotel a few times now mainly for visiting alton towers as its only a 25 min drive. Whilst the location is great, the convenience of a pub restaurant on the premises, a mcdonalds across the car park and a tesco over the road with petrol station is really handy the condition of the fixtures and fittings as well as some of the cleanliness is not so good.

Really needs a good refurb and bringing up to date.

The room had a damp dirty smell. The bathroom was tired and had floors coming away from walls. The plug sockets were limited and dangerously placed directly behind the kettle station. Paint work and radiators were old, damaged and rusty. The beds were dirty and hard. The room was very hot could only open a small window for fresh air. The hotel was run down and very unkempt.

The reviews were clear, so we didn't expect much, and this was just a 1 night stopover.
No receptionist when we arrived, phone through to the pub took a while to answer.
Room condition was poor, outdated, tired, with holes in the plaster where the door handle and hot, and a half-hearted attempt at some repainting, which didn't come close to matching.
Lots of dips in the floor; headboard creaked loudly when leant against; mattress soft and lumpy.
Surprisingly, though, we slept quite well.
Staff (mainly in the pub) were generally friendly and helpful, and breakfast was fine.

Very dated and ruff around the edges, beds etc were very clean and comfortable but bathroom and ceilings etc were black and holes in the room door. Was on the ground floor and had to put earphones in to drown out walking about from above. On the plus side it was only 15mins from Alton Towers and the restaurant food was good and in much better conditon than the hotel area. The staff were all very friendly. I just had a 1 night stay with my 10 year old and would probably try elsewhere next time unfortunately.

The place is so outdated at least 20 years outdated there is no USB port anywhere there are not many plugs in the apartments and the building seems rundown bits of paper bits of bottle lids dust. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The only good thing you had going for it was the pub next door Which is built on the same property. The food was four out of 5. That’s the only thing it had going for it at this place would never return.

I was impressed with the price. On our first night the bathroom light failed. It was fixed very quickly whilst we were out and about.
Fixtures and fittings and furniture could do with improvement. A good general update is needed as there was mold in the windows, stains on the settee. The bath seal needs replacing and the floor covering in the bathroom was not sealed down and was a bit bouncy so suspect water had got underneath at some point. The wooden furniture would benefit from an upgrade. The duvet cover was extensively torn, I would think laundry could easily repair. Laundry otherwise was very clean. The structure of the rooms is in need of soundproofing as sleeping wasn't easy if like us you had noisy and heavy footed neighbours.

Not sure what’s going on. The staff are friendly but the business model isn’t for them to be on hand. Checked in and paid but left within an hour. The building looked ‘tired’ and quite run down outside and reception area wasn’t great. Once we got to our room, neither my partner nor I wanted to stay. The room was awful. Dirty net curtains with mould on the bottoms and broken and coming off from the wire holding it up. All furniture very dated and in poor condition. TV looked well used and dated. Carpets didn’t look too clean and the bathroom was tiny. Old fittings and again, mould on the shower curtain. No drawers to store clothes or belongings in and to be honest, the photos on the website looked to be taken some while ago compared to what you actually see on arrival. Generally grubby and run down and we just couldn’t feel comfortable enough to stay. £137 for 2 nights paid but we left within an hour.

Cheap stay for Aton Towers

Booked this cheap 2 night stay to be near Alton Towers. Its a 20 minute drive from Alton Towers but that was perfect for us. The room was clean although very warm at night due to no aircon but we did have a fan in there. We were facing the front of the hotel so no road traffic noise however did get slightly disturbed a couple of times on the first morning at 7/7.30 from people going through the front door . The staff are all so friendly at the hotel and the pub.
We sat in the garden for a few hours having drinks on the first evening and then had dinner in the pub . We then had breakfast at the pub on the first morning. Lovely food all round, and very decent prices. Definitely a good place to stay as a base for places like Alton Towers or the monkey forest nearby.

Although the property was great location for getting to Alton towers. I was disappointed that the building was very run down. The room had cracks in walls, limited electrical sockets and the bathroom had no toilet roll holder or body was holder both of these looked like they had been snapped off the wall. The windows were closed but felt like there was breeze coming through them and heating had strong smell of metal and the noise of traffic outside became loud and a humming sound that went on all night stopping and starting g every few minutes.

We've stayed here before and it's quite convenient for Stafford show ground. It's a budget pub/hotel, but it's great value and the staffs are lovely. Becca is really excellent and has befriended a few off the older locals and helps them along with advice and a chat. It's not posh, but then it's very cheap. We'll be going back 👍

Was very easy for me as a disabled lady, as we was given a ground floor room, so everything on the level also easy with food on site.
