Lovely place just lacking in attention to detail. The bathroom needed a good dusting. The top of the bin was dusty, the extractor fan was full of dirt and there were old cobwebs hanging. I don’t think the blinds have been lifted or cleaned behind for a while.
The breakfast was nice but we asked for tea and were bought just a pot of tea. No cups, no milk, no sugar. We had to get milk from the cereal table in a cup as there were no milk jugs.

Stayed many many times over many years and always enjoyed the very friendly staff and the nice ambience AND the food. Also, great real ale!
Very clean, good sized, comfortable rooms.
Great food in the restaurant but this time the pork was not to my liking.

Also, couldn't help but notice the reduced service at breakfast---where did those tiny coffee cups come from!? Also, I have to get my own coffee now. Small changes but is it the thin edge of the wedge! BUT, great staff!

This is the first time I’ve stayed at Slaters Inn but it won’t be my last. Its first-class rating is well-deserved, thanks to the staff, who are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are excellent, and the overall vibe of the hotel is perfect. I’ll definitely be back.

A tradional inn, great to stay en route.

Beautifully renovated, clean room and bathroom. Water, coffee, tea, hit chocolate and toiletries were priced as were an iron and mini ironing board.

The bed was very firm but ok. I would have preferred a super king, but it was king size. The pillows however were thin and hard.

We slept with the window open and despite being roadside it was quiet and we were not disturbed.

Really friend recptionist.

Very nice hotel, it’s nice to go somewhere that is traditional rather than the same as any other hotel
Whilst we didn’t eat in the restaurant for dinner the food looked beautiful
Bed was soft but comfortable no aircon so very warm in the night even with windows open

We had an excellent time at Slater's and would willingly recommend a stay there to family & friends. The Staff were unfailingly helpful & friendly, and the evening meal was appreciated by all four of us.
A good choice of real ales was a bonus too.
The rooms were comfortable and there was plenty of car parking space available.
The two lads were amused by the noisy and obvious sexual activity in the bathroom above Room 6. Fortunately, no water came through the ceiling. Hope the cleaning staff didn't have too much mopping up to do.

We stayed but I had a very disturbed nights sleep with the guest next door who at 11:23 pm phoned an ex and started a drunken rant for 30 minutes. The call ended as abruptly as it started. 40 minutes later my sleep was broken again with the sound of next door calling for 'huey'! ' after that between his ear shattering snoring I hardly had any sleep. The bathroom needs the sealant replacing with clean sealant and the one currently was black with mold. The accommodation has lots of contractors staying, not knocking it as it is value for money. However I would stay again because the breakfast was out of this world. Perfect in every way as was the service.

Nice enough place but nothing special. The rooms are a little jaded especially the en suite.
The shower is powerful but the hose from the tap to shower head was leaking water. However, the toiletries looked nice.
Carpets in the hallways are needing a little tidying up where they join.
The key fobs are enormous and make it difficult to lock and unlock the doors without disturbing adjoining rooms due to the noise of them rattling when turning the key.
It was quite a humid and warm evening but no air conditioning and it was a duvet/downie on the bed with no top sheet which meant I was either too hot or too cold. I would have preferred a sheet and roll the duvet back
I didn't eat in the restaurant but the breakfast, which is cooked to order, was excellent. Easy parking and nice staff.
This is the worst kind of review as it isn't glowing and it isn't particularly negative but it wasn't a particularly positive or negative experience.

Absolutely above and beyond service from Tom. I phoned ahead because I was going to be late and miss check in, he said he would leave my room key somewhere for me. When I eventually got there he was waiting for me in the bar and said 'if I'd had that journey, I'd have wanted a beer too'. What a man! That's truly beyond the call of duty! Thank you again!

The room itself was lovely, comfortable and warm despite it being -3 outside and the shower was great which is always important to me in hotel.

If I'm in the area I'll be back for sure!

The booking in process is very confusing after 4pm (I believe, as I arrived late evening). There is reception that has a person who only deals with weddings, and therefore has to tell the guest to leave the building and find the bar to speak to someone who can check you in and give you the room key. You then walk back past this initial person to get to your room. So very confusing and bizarre.

Rooms are very comfortable, however the other rooms upstairs sound like they are in the room with you. Luckily the people above me went to bed and shut up around midnight.

The food and bar in the evening is really good and the staff there are also nice. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding, with more nice people.

So all in all, a good stay, apart from the evening checking in shenanigans.

Rooms are clean and comfortable enough but are getting a bit tired. Time for a refurb! The food in the bar next door is expensive and the steak that I had was very poorly cooked and tasteless. Breakfast also not great. I've stayed a few times over the years but I think I'll look elsewhere next time.

The food and restaurant service was amazing, especially the steak and kidney pie.
However, a great disappointment was Room 6 - the bathroom floor was damaged with torn and holes in the lino which was sinking into the joists. When we checked out it was obvious the management knew about this so it was unbelievable that they had let us stay in the room. No discount or anything was offered. Also, an external window pane had a large crack.

A night away in the countryside

Slaters has a some good things going for it, the staff were helpful, friendly and nothing too much trouble for them, even though they had a big wedding party in, What lets them down is the poor standard of cleanliness in the room and bathroom. I do not mind it being a bit shabby, as it is an old building, but the housekeeping staff seemed to only clean were they could see. At the side of the table where the TV stood was very dirty also behind the bed, In the bathroom, paint was peeling away for the wall by the window, and mold on the walls, The wash hand basin, would not empty for ages, seemed as though something was blocked.

The good points, large comfy bed, clean sheets and towels, lovely big mirror in the bathroom, well lit (great for makeup) good shower.,

Slaters Country Inn - a nice place to stay

Recently had a 2-night stay at Slaters Country Inn. Apart from a few minor issues I found the place to be a good place to stay. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and the food in the bar at night was excellent. I had the homemade steak and kidney pie which was really tasty and plentiful. The bar was busy both nights with what looked like a mixture of locals and hotel guests. The double room was spacious and comfortable. Working in the area mid September so have booked Salters Country Inn again this time for 3 nights.

Very bad service at breakfast. They couldn’t cope with guests and after bit of a wait to order had to guess what was on offer as there was no menu, I ordered tea and 2 cooked items. I still didn’t have tea after 25 min and was told off for asking for it. When I tried to explain I had a taxi booked I was actually shouted at. I had allowed 45 min to eat breakfast but only had 4 minutes to eat my cooked breakfast as it came so late.
The location is very tricky and don’t book if you aren’t driving as taxis from Stoke don’t want to go there and I had to book a taxi in the morning to make sure I could leave. The bed wasn’t very comfortable and so I slept badly.
The room was clean.

disappointing visit this time

this was our tenth visit and have never had room to be dissatisfied before. On this occasion though, the bathroom had obviously had a flood and the floor had many spongy parts and holes in the floo undereneath the floor covering.. As a disabled person I found this effected my balance badly and I was nervous to use bathroom. alone. THe beds are also past their beds and gave me no support .

Enjoyable overnight stay

Just an overnight stay visiting relatives. We had dinner and breakfast and everything was very good. The rooms were very spacious and the only complaint we had were that they were a little cold on entry from our evening in the restaurant. Would almost certainly stay again when visiting same relatives.

Cheap and cheerful hotel! Everything you'd need for a couple of nights and the included breakfast was much better than expected! Were willing to be a bit flexible with Check-in time due to our day's plans which was really helpful. Would definitely stay again if the need arose.

I would recommend this inn to anyone. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The setting is beautiful and it's ideal for exploring the areas amenities. I have been working in the stoke area for 3 months and only found this place for the last 2 weeks. It is incredible value for money compared to the city centre hotels. The breakfast is superb and the bacon is some of the best I.have tasted.

I stayed in the hotel with my elderly mother.
We stayed in a twin room on the ground floor with grab rails in the bathroom which was really important for my mother.
The room was very clean. It was great to be able to make tea and coffee in the room.
The staff were all friendly and efficient.
The breakfast was good with a choice of cereals, fruit juice, full English and toast.
Highly recommended as a great place to stay.

Hotel Staff were welcoming. The room was very clean although too hot even with the radiator thermostat turned down to 2 which was the lowest it could be turned to and both windows were open. The staff member who served breakfast was very nice and engaged in conversation. The restaurant food was of high quality. This was our second visit and I would happily return.

The room was very hot even when we turned off the radiator.
The room was very noisy with the car park access on one side and the corridor to other rooms on the other side.
Bathroom in poor condition - shower screen dirty, floor dirty, paint peeling from ceiling and on door.
One member of staff very friendly, the other very brusque

What a lovely little, find will stay there again.

My stay in the hotel was for a business trip so I budget my expense's as it is only me and some where to put my head down for the night. What I got was somewhere I would have taken my better half with me for more than an overnight stay. The staff where lovely, the food was excellent, the room was spacious and comfortable, the shower was powerful. Good value for money.
