Water torture!

The hotel was ok and in a great location for our visit to Stoke-on-Trent.
The room we were given was small, with the double bed up against the wall.
When in the room there was the sound of water running and this never stopped, even after telling the reception and was told by them that the maintenance people would sort it out, but no, it kept on running! It was like water torture! So if room 317 is allocated to you, then insist on another room!!
The breakfast was good and the staff serving were all very friendly and helpful.

First ever experience to stay in Best Western Hotel. No heating for the duration of stay, asked several times, experience cold feet. I was told at one point by one of the receptionists that's why duvet are provided. Had to checked out.

Staff were excellent at solving problems... If which there were a few. The hotel is VERY tired and a bit scabby. The room needs a good scrub too, not the cleanest! 😞

Ideal location for Regent Theatre goers

We were greated by a friendly recepcionist who was very helpful and polite. The bedroom was clean and spacious with everything needed for a short stay. The buffet style breadfast was plentiful and well cooked.
The hotel is very close to the centre of town.
Ideal if going to the Regent Theatre as it is only a short 5 minute walk away.
Would recommend this hotel if staying in Stoke

After a 9 hour drive from the North of Scotland we looked forward to a meal and bed, that first night the room was so hot due to the radiator stuck full open due to no thermostat being fitted. We had the windows open which due to the noise off the road exacerbated the lack of sleep. The next morning we went to the swimming pool to try and unwind but then to be charged 6pp to use the pool (and empty hot tub). We spoke to the receptionist regarding the radiator and a supposed maintenance person looked at the radiator which did not get fixed, spoke to the receptionist again regarding this and was told he could not fit a replacement thermostat, FYI this is a 2 second job to screw on a unit. The attitude and inability to resolve this matter meant a second night of no sleep in a furnace of a bedroom. Just what we needed for a 9 hour drive home.
Stayed in many Best Western hotels and this by far is the arm pit of them all. Hope they learn some manners and customer services and look after their guests.

This is a tired building, but in the process of being refurbished, which meant fresh paint smells.The room was very clean, even though with a bland boring decor. A newly refitted bathroom helped improve the impression.
All staff were friendly and welcoming.
A disappointment was that at 21h00 the restaurant was already closed. Breakfast was fine.
The area around the hotel is kept clean (the outside still needs refurbishing) but suffers from the fact that this corner of Stoke on Trent is dull and boring

Pretty basic, a bit disappointing

Hotel was clean, fairly comfortable etc but a bit dated and basic, could do with tlc. We were disappointed to find that the leisure centre was closed for a few weeks (planned), which had we known, would have booked elsewhere for our fairly last minute booking, as was primarily for the kids to relax after very long drive. Also facilities basic, we had a family room but when I phoned down to reception (on my mobile because room phone broken) to ask if there were any hot chocolate sachets for the kids, was told, no, only tea and coffee. Just found things pretty sub standard and attitude wise, no real apology offered for inconvenience or offer of help. Little accomodations would have helped make it much better for the kids

Room was very small. Double bed also felt tiny. The room was boiling hot and it was impossible to turn off heating. We opened the windows but then got all the noise from the street.
Shower had 0 power and felt like a trickle although it was warm.
My 7 year old daughter commented on it being an “old hotel” because the bath was cracked and the paint flaking. When a 7 year old notices - you need an upgrade.
It did the job of a bed for the night but wouldn’t stay for more than a night.

Its an old hotel. Reviews before we arrived had me thinking the worse. Agsin its an old hotel, we had a room in the newer extension. Room is dated but was fine. Does it need a coat of paint and bathroom updating yes but it isn't as bad as some reviews led us to believe. Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food. If going to Regent Theatre its a short walk from the hotel. Would i stay again, yes its wasn't brilliant and it wasn't terrible also.

Awful..had high expectations but very disappointed

Blood / poo in the bed, pillows and on sheets .. they hadn’t been changed obviously.

Dirty floor , not hoovered or mopped in bathroom, towels were stained brown with body fluids also, mould in around bathroom, very outdated, dust everywhere .. complained to manager and had to sit in hotel lobby for 1 hour whilst they found another room, not a good experience and definitely would not recommend, I had very high expectations but the service and cleanliness of this hotel was appalling, for £90 i expected a lot more .. would not recommend to anybody !!!

Ok hotel, but check the facilities are operational

We chose this hotel because we had stayed before and were pleased with the experience. Many of the plus points were the same, location, service, convenience, value for money, cleanliness. The only two things which were below par were the mattresses were two soft, so you were left wondering if you would roll off! Also, we booked for the pool and leisure facilities. On arrival, we were told the pool was out of order, and it would be some time before it was fixed. We didnt get the use of the pool once. As that was a major reason for booking, it left a bit of a dampener on a generally otherwise good experience.

VERY concerning locality, but pleasant interior

Once you walked through the doors of the hotel it was very pleasant inside & the staff were polite, helpful & courteous. However the car park & surrounding area were extremely concerning with clear street walkers plying their trade. Paying £12+ for a car park where I was concerned the car would be stolen or damaged. If you could pick the hotel up & place in a nicer area there would be no concerns.

Very, very disappointing stay, told that fans would be provided (due to the hot weather) despite numerous requests and despite the same replies, it didn’t happen.
Very noisy outside at night, couldn’t close the windows because of the heat, mattress on the bed had seen better days, thought parking and the use of the pool came part of the package, it didn’t.
Noisy in the hotel, squeaky floors and doors. Won’t be staying in a Best Western again.

Wasn`t happy that we had to pay £6.10 each to use the pool. Didn`t spot that anywhere in written info before we got there, or even in the hotel guide when we arrived.Never had to pay for use of facilities before as a resident.

Not a great place for comfort

Very run down place. Struggled to get a shower due to no pressure and it trickling out. Lots of mould on the tiles. My daughter couldn’t sleep on the sofa bed so I ended up on that. I don’t blame her as it was poking me everywhere. I ended up taking the paper thin mattress off the sofa bed and sleeping with it on the floor. Pillows supplied were pointless - had to push all the stuffing into a corner just to get some elevation. Toilet door was hard to lock and unlock showing a terrible lack of maintenance. Safe to say we won’t ever return.
Hotel staff were lovely and friendly - we never bothered complaining as the price clearly reflected the state of the rooms.

Stayed multiple times my room 329 was big.
Bednot work bed side lights dodgy. Shower pressure not gteat plastic hoses could do with metal ones.
Rooms are always too hot on 3rd floor you just cant cool rooms down. Toilet was not a good flusher. Its pot luck what rooms you get. I ask for certain rooms and i never get them regular costomer. Always a good location plenty of shops around buses are regular.

This hotel is a health hazard it should be shut down. Mould on the windows in the rooms, the bathroom smelled of sewage, the amount of rats in the courtyard which families have to cross through to access the family rooms it’s absolutely shocking. Zero stars for this hotel. We got out of there as quick as we could on the morning of check out.

Nice hotel in a convenient location

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at the hotel. Having read some scathing reviews about the condition and cleanliness of the hotel, I was a bit worried. However my worries were unfounded - I sometimes wonder what people expect when they’re paying very little for their stay. Yes the hotel decor is tired, but the carpets are lovely and the hotel is very clean. It is however on the warm side, but we opened our bedroom window and asked for a fan (which was given to us for,the duration of our 3 night stay with absolutely no problem). The other downside was that no housekeeping services were offered during our stay. This appears to have happened with a lot of hotels since lockdown, with many of them opting not to clean rooms during your stay. I have no issue with our beds not being made etc., but replenishing our room with clean cups, coffee sachets, milk etc would have been appreciated.
Al in all a decent hotel in a very convenient location. Would definitely book again if returning to Stoke on Trent

Lovely hotel in the the heart of a city but unfortunately my room was like a sauna all night and the hotel didn’t have enough fans per room and windows wouldn’t open more than 1 & 1/2 inches so I was unable to get enough fresh air in the Circulate , I had to go out and buy my own fan from a local shop but still with only a small gap for the window it was still too hot and I couldn’t get a wink of sleep through the night and had to go out side several times to cool down

One night quick stay.

We had a one night stay with friends in a family room as we were at Alton towers for two days. Stay was good room was very large decor abit dated which isn’t bad for the price we paid but simple things like plug sockets near bed was limited for charging our phones. The beds were comfortable and the reception desk was helpful in giving us extra tea/coffee sugar for the 4 of us and adding breakfast onto our stay. The hotel breakfast buffet was amazing so glad we decided to stay for breakfast rather than go elsewhere was such a selection for everyone including those who need gluten free options. The gentleman running the area was very efficient and helpful and the breakfast was tasty. Checking in and out was smooth and all questioned answers, only shame we paid for parking for 12 hours wasn’t aware hotel guests got a discount rate.

Our room was ok - if not great. Bed was not very comfy, rubbish still in the bathroom bin, and room overlooked to car park. Sons room was OK. Daughter had to change rooms twice. 1st room the interlocking doors were unlocked - and staff had gone home with keys. 2nd room, the toilet was soiled & unflushed, blood in the bath, window couldn’t be secured and room I cleaned. Hotel moved her to a 3rd room - with an upgrade & the final room was lovely & a nice gesture. Overall - OK for the money but felt very ‘cheap & cheerful’ but badly needs a freshen up. Cleaning staff need retraining.

Needs modernising

It was a guaranteed check in by 3 however my room wasn’t ready until 3:30. I ordered an executive room but got a twin room which needed May updates. The shower had no pressure, there was no plugs near the vanity . There was only one lamp to light the whole room and no air system meaning I had to have windows open and was very noisy. Needs modernisation to compete with the many hotels in Hanley now

Average hotel great location to the center of Stoke. But advertised with pool, when we enquired about it at reception we were told you will have to pay £5 each to use the leisure facilities. No air-conditioning just a small fan provided, that didnt do a alot since it was 27 degrees. We had breakfast here and we couldnt fault it, buffet style with plenty of choices.

Ideal for the concert we were attending, obviously this has been a grand hotel in its time and could do with some TLC and money being lavished on it but our room was bright,

Horrible state of room. Mattresses were in state that they should have been discarded long back. Tilted to one side. Looked dirty. Carpet was terrible, floor surface had visible bumps under the caprpet.No soap in soap dispenser at hand sink. All in all bad experience. Never again.

Give this a massive swerve.

I booked this hotel as it is close to the theatre and I had purchased tickets to a show for my partner’s birthday. We anticipated a lovely evening away.
Firstly we were allocated a twin room in a secondary building (even though I had specifically checked verbally that this was not a twin room). This member of staff was unkempt and smelt strongly of cigarettes even through the covid barrier.
The second room was small, had a large area of discolouration to the ceiling (looked like a water stain), roasting hot even with the window open and the bath mat had blood on it.
The leisure facilities are £5 extra per person per hour (and you get charged extra if you don’t go to your booked slot according to a sign on the reception desk). This extra charge is not in an obvious place on the information and when asking about that, the staff were very abrupt.
The restaurant was closed due to a wedding taking place in the hotel function area.
We were kept awake most of the night by the sound of running water in a pipe in the wall by the bed.
Breakfast was also very disappointing.
All in all, I wish I driven to the theatre and back again in the same evening and in fact would have just checked out and gone home if not for the fact that I had had a drink at the theatre prior to checking in to the hotel.

Breakfast was excellent with very friendly comfortable service from a gentleman with dark brown hair and beard, very smiling and pleasant.

Cheap, not the greatest location, won't stay again

Cannot recommend a stay here. The rooms are so miss match, we had 2 double rooms for 2 nights 1 was refurbished and the other looked like a 1 star hotel room, nothing worked and to top it off the heating couldn’t be turned off couple with the fact the hotel is opposite a night club playing very liud music to the early hours, we were unable to get a good nights sleep. We then got moved to 2 new rooms the next night which were more similar but one was still quite unclean and the bathroom certainly hadnt been refurbished. There were other issues like the card machine not working in the bar and no bar in the restaurant so you have to get your drink yourself from the floor above and then go back to the restaurant. I guess ultimately you get what you pay for, but the room prices should reflect the actual condition of them and not pay the same rate for 1 good room and 1 extremely poor room.

It's in a good location. It is town centre so there can be some noise. Breakfast has a good choice. I think it should be more obvious you have to pay to swim. The costs add up with parking. We have stayed before and would stay again.

My executive room was very spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable, I had a great night sleep. Wide choice of breakfast, and various choices of juices, plus coffee of different kinds. Next time I will try the leisure centre, this ways a one night stay. Would definitely stay again.

Parking was not made clear that if you went into the hotel first it would be £5+ cheaper. Hotel room had weird smell, as we arrived at 7pm and needed to get some dinner first we headed straight out and on return went straight to bed. It was freezing in the room, we were given a heater but it looked older than me so didn’t trust it to be left on whilst we slept. When we woke in the morning I opened the curtains to find that the windows were covered in mould hence the smell! Also, realised my phone had not charged in socket next to bed, tried the lamp plugged into the same double socket and that didn’t work either, good job as the PAT test cert label on the plug was dated April 2019!!! Bathroom was dirty too. Breakfast was ok. Reception staff did not ask how stay was when we checked out, I’m guessing because they know how bad the rooms are. I had tried to complain via Hotels.com and they were very helpful indeed but hotel said that because I didn’t mention the problems when I left they wouldn’t compensate despite seeing the pictures. They didn’t ask how my stay was!!

Comfy beds poor cleanliness

Room was cold, heater didn't work. Cleanliness was brilliant; tissues on floor, tub of washing up liquid left out, toilet seat broke, one of chair legs looked dodgy, swim pool changing rooms dirty, wine glasses, litter, cigarette ends outside the annex.
However the beds were comfy.

Not worth the money I paid.

Hours of room service limited. Not as advertised. Only one chef who was rushed. Food was awful ! The bed pillows and bed hard as a rock. Opposite a night club which is extremely noisy at weekend. Had to pay for car park and pool. Room was freezing, only had a tiny plug in radiator.
The girl on reception next day was however very helpful. My food money was returned.
However my room not.

First of all the room i got was not what i booked i wanted the room with doublebed and double bed settee got double and single bed nobody on reception to complain to 2 guys working in the bar too busy watching tv to bother with me so ate out the shelf in the bathroom was covered in toothpaste there was no toilet roll and a half fiinished bottle of wine in the wardrobe clearly the room hadnt been cleaned which during the pandemic is life threatening i had a fall in the bath as there was no bath mat hurt my shoulder and hip found out later that if you want a bath mat you have to contact reception but as there was no one there this wouldnt have been an option lastly the car park cost me £7.50 this wasnt stated when booking overall the worst hotel i have ever stayed in

One Night Stay

I've visited Stoke on a number of occasions but this has been the best hotel I stayed in. it's nice and central, the rooms are good and the breakfast very tasty.
The staff are very good - especially Shawney the receptionist, who was wonderful in sorting out a few niggles.
I'll happily go back.

4th time here, Last few visits there were a few issues but nothing that would deter me from coming back. Stayed in room 121 which was at the back of the hotel, Very quiet, clean and comfortable. Great breakfast, brilliant value swimming pool. Parking should be included though

Great Customer Service from Sean and Keyanne

Another great stay at this hotel. I first found stayed here a week before this stay (Following escaping an awful Air BnB)

Customer Service is great Sean and Keyanne are both super friendly and will do all they can to ensure a good stay

As you will see from the other reviews, there are some rooms that need work, but the team will always do all they can to put you in the best available. The ones that have been sorted are great for a few days stay.

Bonus this hotel has an attached gym and swimming pool

Overall, I'm happy to stay here anytime I'm working in Stoke

We have stayed at this hotel (2017 and 2018) prior to the new ownership. To say that the level of service and quality of rooms has since elevated would be an understatement. The reception staff made sure our stay was pleasant and the housekeeping staff were thoughtful. We have stayed in the superior suite and the executive room and found both to have had significant work done.

On arrival was booked into a room on 1st floor. Walked up to the room to find key card did not work. Back to reception who did their thing with the card, back to the room, card still not opening the door. Back to reception, another mess with the card, back to room still failed and back to reception again. Was then given an upgrade to another room. Key card worked. Next morning turned on shower, nearly got in, just tested the water and almost scolded myself. Water far too hot to have a shower. Turned hot tap off and just had cold tap running and water still scalding. Checked out that morning and left. Very poor example of a functioning and caring hotel!

Probably the worst 3 star I've ever stayed in

Just a terrible hotel. It appeared from the condition of it that they are desperately hanging on till the area is redeveloped. The only pluses were a couple of the staff were friendly. I was booked in for 3 nights but lost the will after one and moved on. Charging 7.50 to park your car overnight? Incredible!

Good value and good location

The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently close to Hanley centre for shops and restaurants. The room was quite basic but had everything we needed - a decent hot shower, clean towels and comfy beds. Breakfast was included in the price and was a welcome treat. Plenty of hot cooked items along with cereals and pastries etc. Good value overall.
