Everything was very clean and staff were so friendly!! The train car room was a fun quirky experience. The construction around the hotel is unfortunate but texts and emails were supplied to help with all the necessary directions and instructions. Such a wonderful location and proximity to downtown!

The front attendant was spectacular checking us in as well as the valet! The whole place was clean and amazing to look through the halls of Union Station! Our rail chair was comfortable and really felt like staying in one. Some minor misses like a glass drink sat next to our door the whole time from a previous guest and the restaurant at dinner and breakfast was ice cold, but overall we enjoyed our stay!

Historic Hotel, and if you ask, they will show you where the old portion of the train station is. Can see what the place looked like in the early 1900's. Very cool. Great staff. Room service was awesome. Would book again in a heart beat.

Wonderful experience overall! I remember staying at Union Station as a kid, and it's just as magical as I remember. Clean room, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful venue, and very well put-together breakfast. Definitely going to be visiting again in the future!

We stayed in a train car this time and it was so unique! Hotel was spotless clean, staff was nice and so fun, great with the kids, restaurant was delicious. This hotel has SO much cool train and rail history, it's really a hidden gem!
Only downsides: the Illinois ballroom and old station wasn't open because there weren't any events going on down there. Wish we could have seen that area again.
#2: be prepared if you stay in the blue train that a REAL train may come through in the middle of the night and scare you to death! Haha We didn't realize we were on the side closest to the active tracks. It was just once overnight and the kids slept right through it, but I guess it added to authentic railroad experience. 😂

This was an absolutely beautiful hotel with a great staff. My only real complaint was that once we got there to check in valet parking was full. So the same amount of money I would have spent on valet parking was spent at a parking lot 6 blocks away from the hotel.

There have been beautiful renovations to this hotel. It has a great location downtown. Jan, who checked us in and out was wonderful. The unfortunate thing is all of the construction in the area which creates a challenge in finding and accessing the hotel. There also appears to be limited valet parking.

If you are looking for a unique experience for your stay in downtown Indianapolis, the Crowne Plaza is the place for you!
We enjoyed getting the opportunity to sleep in an old train car, and exploring around the hotel!
The area is a convenient walk to St. Elmo’s Steakhouse and Monument Circle!
The staff was very friendly!
Even though extremely busy with a load of laundry/bedding, Marta the housekeeper was kind enough to keep open the elevator door for us as we were leaving.
The breakfast buffet downstairs had a nice variety of food options to send us off on our way with full bellies.
All in all, it was the perfect stay!

I loved that you had turkey sausage on your breakfast. I enjoyed how my water and coffee was refilled with a smile without asking. Staff was very helpful. I enjoyed my quesadilla. We loved the train on the 2nd floor and the figurines. The stain glass window in the ballroom and main meeting room was very beautiful and the sun shown through. Visit Indy several times a year. The Crown Plaza is our Destination each time. In the past several years, everything has been updated. The service has always been good. All the rooms have been refurbished and remodeled. All very clean and efficient. Restaurant updated, modern, with excellent service. Highly recommend.

The Grand Hall is typically locked and closed, which we didn't know, we asked the front desk how to get there, they let us know that it is typically locked and said they could have an engineer come open it for us, not only did he unlock and let us get a look around, he took us for a very impressive tour, we learned some history and saw some very cool sights of Old Union Station.

There are plenty of other hotels in the area that offer a far more modern and luxurious feel. The rooms here are very basic, the breakfast is not good, and during my last visit there was heavy construction around the area that made arrival and departure frustrating, even with the valet.

I typically don’t leave reviews, but after multiple stays and the complete lack of customer service during this recent situation, I felt it was necessary. The only reason I returned at all was the proximity to a state game we were attending and a special offer rate that made it seem reasonable. However, between the outdated rooms, the unimpressive breakfast, the construction, and now the refusal to work with us during a weather advisory, it’s clear that there are better options nearby that value guests more.

Going forward, I’ll be choosing one of the many other hotels downtown that offer better service, better amenities, and a more comfortable overall experience.

My experience with this hotel was extremely disappointing, and this stay made it clear we will not be returning. A severe weather advisory made it unsafe for us to travel, yet the hotel refused to offer any flexibility whatsoever. I understand policies exist, but there are moments when safety and basic human decency should matter more than a rigid non-refundable rule. A refund, a credit, a date change, or even partial accommodation would have shown they value their guests. Instead, they chose policy over people and kept $97 rather than prioritize safety or loyalty.

This is especially frustrating because we’ve stayed here before. The only real selling point has ever been proximity, not the hotel itself. During our previous stay, the breakfast was already a disappointment. It’s a very limited buffet with options that did not feel fresh, and it absolutely wasn’t something I wanted to repeat. The rooms are also extremely small. Last time, we stayed in one of the “train car” rooms, and beyond the initial novelty, it was cramped and underwhelming. Even the kids lost interest quickly. We would much rather stay downtown in a hotel with better space, updated amenities, and a skyline view.

Between the lack of flexibility during a genuine safety concern, the subpar breakfast, the cramped rooms, and the overall outdated feel, there is nothing here worth returning for. This hotel has made it clear that profit matters more than people, and they have permanently lost our business.

NEVER AGAIN: We left at 12:30 a.m. because the hotel was overrun due to a youth convention. There were humans as far as the eye could see, left and right! Loud, yelling, running, banging, and talking so loudly! (For reference, this is 5 train cars long and another 5 to my left. This is the picture mister took is before this place filled!) We had over 5 different people try our door handle. There were people everywhere; common spaces were filled with hundreds of people on our block, like Black Friday-style mobs! (One mom we ran into earlier said there were over 16,000 youth attending at the convention center, which the hotel was attached to.) We packed and left. The teens and adults were shocked because they didn’t know these were rooms. The signage was horrible; beds were fulls, not 2 queens. They filled in the pool, which was supposed to be West Baden-style (I didn’t know until after I booked). The hotel restaurant food was awful! For $75, I was hoping for good food versus bowl lettuce and lukewarm beer, and that was $30 alone. Mister had a 9oz wine and burger that was $30. The construction took us 45 minutes to get into the hotel, and we paid for valet parking, $50.00, because there was nowhere else to park. Peggy at the desk was extremely kind and gracious. She authorized a full refund. The museum scavenger hunt was super cool, and the kids won ice cream for completing.

However, there is construction all around the facility and getting to the entrance was near impossible. We were on a time crunch and called the hotel desk to find out how they recommended getting to the entrance—she could not tell us, which added more anxiety to the situation. By the grace of God we stumbled on how to get there—by only one road going in the proper direction (there are roads closed everywhere). Once there, it was great…just getting there was awful. Add 30 minutes to your travels to account for all the construction. It would’ve been nice to know what we were getting into…but again, once there, it was great.

Several issues upon arrival, or should I say trying to arrive at the hotel. I know it was a busy weekend, but the only access to the hotel was down a barricaded road where you had to enter and then ask a policeman permission to be allowed through in order to gain access to the hotel. This was something that was not conveyed to us at 5:00, an hour after we had been trying to gain access. Lots of traffic and frustration. Tried to call the hotel and no answer at all on the phone. There has to be something done before check-in to make people aware of this situation.

Although it was not by the food, we did see an unwanted bug in the dining area. I didnt see this particular bug anywhere else in the hotel, but i def. didnt want to see it whilst eating. Even with that, the place is beautiful and the art installment and architect is unrivaled in Indy hotels. Location was perfect walking distance to the downtown area.

The room was clean and the staff courteous. Hotel carpets, particularly in the elevators, could be heightened. The challenge with this hotel is the major construction currently underway across from the venue, the location adjacent to the inter-state railroad (which causes constant shaking as a train moves through) and the general lack of amenities in the hotel itself including long walks to the buiding's elevators, etc.

Housed inside a historical building with many artistic features includng the inside train, this is a wonderful hotel for anyone wanting to be close to the Lucas Stadium or the convention center. The restaurant, which did not have much menu variety, is adequate but the hotel is not close to a lot of other food options (vegan, etc.). The biggest concern is the hotel layout, which causes long walks around low-hanging overheads, which is somewhat captured in the photo.
