The staff were friendly and open, assisting us when needed. The room and common spaces were very warm and comfortable, and the position of the hotel in the forest is appealing and also an easy bus ride into town. The spa is good, not huge.

Excellent all round, cannot fault anything. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff; light, spacious and modern rooms; and excellent food at the venue the times we decided eat at the restaurant. We didn't use the spa or pool this trip but this was not our first stay here and those too have always been excellent. Also very accommodating with our infant.

Room:
+ very spacious and the bed was very confortable.
- lack of hooks to hang wet towels etc. Swimming pool only open during the summer - closed from mid Sep. Part of the reason we booked (small honeymoon) here was to have a few days by the pool had we known it would have influenced our decision.

Location:
+ peaceful and quiet. not far by bus into the town around 20min on busy day and 15min when less busy. bus stop right outside hotel can use contactless by card. very easy to navigate.
- Taxi we found a little trickier to find in quieter parts of town say Antiguo and buses do not run that late.

Spa
+excellent.
- to access the Spa indoor pool and sauna comes at a cost which is notable when the outdoor pool is closed.

Food
+excellent both breakfast at the restaurant

Points to note for future guests:

1. The roof top pool is only available 15/06 - 15/09.

2. The Spa is an additional €30 per person per visit. It is not included in the room rate.

3. Dining is limited to the restaurant at the hotel and they do not do room service. There are no local options so if it is booked you are stumped.

4. Travel into San Sebastián is via the 28 bus (every 10-15 mins) or via a taxi (€15 each way). Journey time via the bus with waiting is realistically 30-40mins.

The hotel is clean and the food in the restaurant is good but this is not 4* and should not classify itself as a spa hotel.

I had high expectations for Hotel Arima given its affiliation with Small Luxury Hotels, but my experience was deeply disappointing.

The air conditioning in our room was not functioning properly throughout our three-night stay. Despite reporting the issue multiple times, the room remained hot and stuffy, with a persistent temperature of 25°C. We were told the issue was fixed, yet nothing changed. A staff member even acknowledged that the room lacked proper ventilation and offered us another room — but only on the final night, after midnight.

We were also promised that a manager would speak with us before checkout, yet no one was available. The service recovery was nonexistent — no follow-up, no compensation, and no accountability. We ended up sleeping in uncomfortable conditions for two nights, and had to relocate rooms late on the third.

At this price point and under the SLH brand, I expected much better. Unfortunately, the hotel chose not to take responsibility or offer any resolution after my stay. I wouldn’t recommend this property based on our experience.

Clean, tidy and modern. But there was some sloppiness:

1. We asked for a refill of body lotion multiple times but this wasnt done- there was no body lotion when we moved into the room.

2. Whilst the lightning system and controls are modern and loom good, they dont work very well. I couldnt turn all the lights off but leave the reading lights on and the black out curtains let light in.

3. It seemed odd that the hotel had a spa and marketed itself as a spa hotel, but we had to pay to use it.

We selected the hotel as we wanted a luxurious stay with spa ameanities, and were willing to sacrifice location for this. However, given we had to pay to use the spa, we may as well have stayed more central.

This is quiet, luxurious hotel. The staff was excellent and very helpful. The room was lovely, the bath a spa level experience. The restaurant on site offered a lovely meal of the day lunch/arly dinner menu. There is a fine dining restaurant that we did not have time to try, but plan ahead for reservations. The rooftop pool is sizable and pleasant with towels and a small bar available for drinks. We were in the middle of a 12 day trip and needed to do some laundry and had access to the condo building attached to do that. It was very much appreciated. The hotel sits on traffic circle on the bus line. Pleasant, clean buses with a practical schedule made it easy to get in and out of town without taxi's and Ubers. 10-12 min ride into town. We attended a concert at the Reale stadium and took the bus in but walked back. It was about 2 miles and slightly up hill but large group of the crowd was doing the same so it was enjoyable late in the evening when there was little other traffic. We could have waited for a bus but chose not to. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for quiet luxury away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy area in town.

The hotel describes itself as luxury, but it's far from. The coffee quality was bad. There was only 1 coffee pod for two people the other one was decaf. The amenities were lacking and we had to constantly ask for extras to simply meet our basic needs of comfort, such as toilet paper, vanity kit etc. There was no tissue paper. The fridge was empty. When we asked for milk to put in our coffee, we were told we had to get it ourselves from the restaurant - this is not the standard within luxury hospitality. The mattress was not comfortable, did not meet luxury standards. The Spa experience was not generous, we booked a 30mins massage and we got only. 20mins

An excellent hotel, out of town but easy city bus

Great service and advice from reception and in the restaurant where we also enjoyed excellent food and wine in a lively environment. Rooms are very comfortable (including the bed) but ours was not well sound-proofed. It was, however, ok when you had considerate neighbours.

A quiet retreat in the woods, beautiful scenery and wonderful food. Our room was fine, clean, modern. The room was not ready until the check in time of 15:00 so we went to the restaurant, which was amazing (though at €100 for two including one sangria I’d say the price was more New York than outside of San Sebastián…) unfortunately the spa was fully booked so we didn’t have a chance to try it. Overall a very nice experience.

This is a modern hotel with a minimalistic approach greatly executed, elegant choices on furniture. As a tourist, you would be 15min from San Sebastián downtown, very reasonable if you have a car and public buses are a block away and they would place you in downtown in 20min. The hotel is in a very green area and rooms facing the patio side great a lush vegetation view.

There is a big lobby area very attractive for getting work done, with a large communal table by the lobby and a smaller table (6 people) facing the patio. Many small tables and chairs in the area, perfect for getting work done or just relaxing.

The gym is world class for a hotel in this area of the world, which is fantastic for those keeping in shape while traveling. And the outdoors certainly offer great exercising opportunities.

Rooms are well maintained, although you can start to see some of the furniture chipping, mainly chairs and desks. Early attention to these details would be appreciated.

We had the most wonderful stay here. I was a little worried it wouldn’t be kid friendly but it was great. It’s quite it’s certainly not a kids running around noisily place but they are very welcome.
It’s about 10-15 min from centre and beach, we drove and used the bus which was super easy and cheap.
The hotel location is beside a beautiful forest that has nice walking / running trail.
Breakfast was great and everything was so affordable, hotels so often over charge but drinks at the pool were no more that anywhere else.
Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
Area around lost 1 star simple because it’s a business area with not much to do but the bus makes this no issue.

Great medium sized establishment in the forest area just outside central San Seb. Taxi or bus required for getting into town. Really helpful staff and great service recieved in all areas. They were difficult to contact via Expedia but fine via email and face to face. We had a junior suite which was large and modern. If being very picky we had some very slight wear and tear in our room, and a rogue hair in our shower cubicle, that I hope maintenance keep on top of as the ambiance of the hotel and spa has a lovely spacious and calm vibe. Nothing detracted from the experience, but with such a modern establishment any blemish however small will be more apparent. Decent restaurant and relaxing spa. Gym was well stocked and clean. Hotel car park is underground, clean and secure from the street though can be accessed via the lobby. Very late at night you may have a wait for a taxi to return from town. We would definitely stay here again away from the busy city centre, especially if driving to San Sebastian.

Thank you for a lovely stay at Arima. The parking was very easy and €10 beneath the hotel in the underground car park. Check-in staff friendly and the guest services gentleman was incredibly helpful even booking us an evening meal reservation in the town. Wonderful service. The bus into town runs every 10 min from outside the hotel.
Room very clean and eco-friendly. Plenty of complementary toiletries to use for the stay. Roof top pool amazing although the water was far too cold to swim in it with a child unfortunately.
Hospital just around the corner.

Perfect hotel for a few days in San Sebastián. Great modern design. Easy access to the centre via local bus, nice to leave the car behind (under ground parking with charging points). Rooms are small but well thought out with attractive decor nice big mirrors and great showers.
Breakfast was good but often busy with hard working staff rushing to keep up, perhaps they need one more staff member to help them out.
The spa is good although we were unable to book a massage, maybe we should have booked in advance for this. The roof top pool is also lovely for chilling out.
Lovely wooded walk to rear of hotel. Don’t miss the Chillida Leku sculpture park 5 mins drive away.
Only complaint would be the odd bedding system with open ended pillow cases and sheets rather than duvet covers. A suggestion would be to serve snacks and light
meals in the rooftop pool area along with drinks.

Perfect hotel, perfect location but just one thing let the whole team down. We arrived on our first day and wanted to chill out, and have an evening meal. We went down to the restaurant and asked for a table, we were told to wait and so we did. After sometime we asked again for a table and we were told to wait? This was getting a little tiresome by now, they were busy but had plenty of empty tables ready? We asked for a third time and they sat us down, that was it? We had to go to the bar to ask for a menu, this was online so no problem. And so we had a look and sat waiting for service? Eventually we had to ask the bar lady again for some service, she came and took our order and from that point onwards everything was shall we say normal service.
The food was great but the service was poor so overall I gave the hotel a medium score for service, but by contrast the breakfast service was excellent in every way. We did report the issue to the manager.

Very nice new hotel. It is outside of the town. There is a very frequent bus service running day and night that drops you in the town center in about 20 minutes. Spacious rooms and a beautiful setting by a large park.

Hotel Arima is a great hotel. A bit out of town but the old town is easy to get to by bus or taxi. Breakfast is great with lots of healthy options served by very friendly staff. Reception staff also fantastic. Our bedroom was good but we found the room way too hot overnight and quilt on the bed made it very uncomfortable. Shower was excellent. Had dinner one night which was also excellent. Overall service in all areas was exceptional. The pool is freezing with no heating so although the roof top is a fantastic space nobody used the pool, it was just too cold. How about some solar heating - you get so much sunshine?? Also have excellent secure undercroft car park which is free of charge.

Choosing hotel sometimes can be a Russian roulette, despite the pictures some of them don’t actually deliver what they promised. That’s not the case in here. The property’s architecture is beautifully with modern lines and everything is thought to the last detail. The rooms are superbly clean, modern and the well designed.
They offer free parking in the facilities and if the garage is full there is plenty of parking right in front of the hotel in a safe area.
It’s not in the city center but it’s a 5 minute drive from San Sebastián’s overpriced city center.
Definitely the best option in the area.

Hotel Arima is very sleek and very Scandinavian in design and how it integrates into the landscape (which is wonderful and very quiet). Lots of effort goes into an ecological way of living (with some exceptions such as plastic cups for liquids by the pool). The pool is stunning as it is infinity on all sides. The food is good. The standard rooms are a little small. The only thing that needs attention is the service by the pool. If you want a drink or some nibbles you need to go down 4 floors to get it yourself. It is begging for a bar/cafe on the rooftop. This is a missed opportunity for the hotel. Overall recommended with some small details to iron out.

Lovely hotel - highly recommended. A little bit out of the main hub of San Sebastian but easily accessible on the bus if you dont have a car (ask at reception about the bus cards). Good selection at breakfast however gets very busy and they are understaffed so best to order early and not be in a rush. Unfortunately the pool doesnt open until June and there was no access to it so we didnt get a chance to have a look. The deli/cafe does a plate of the day menu which is very good value. Recommended for a San Sebastian getaway.

We booked a Family Room with two Kind beds per the description on the Hotel.com Website. We arrived at the hotel and they said that room was not available nor did they have any with two beds. Hotel also did not help us with bags to room.

The location was too far out of the center of town.
The restaurant was only open 2 nights a week. The
Rest of the time one had to use the cafeteria which
Only had three dinner selections and didn’t appear
To change. Since the hotel appeared to be in a business
Park, there were no meal options nearby.

We felt like we were in Scandinavia with the modern building and furniture it was very peaceful. Located in an industrial area made it easy to park in the street. The bus stop across the street was easy access to get into town.

Love having all those trees around us in a hotel with loads gadgets to open window shades and lights. Wish the pool and roof terrace were open but unfortunately it closed until June for summer season. Really should be opened we slightly disappointed as we had selected this hotel for the pool and terrace for our kids. Good restaurants in hotel as well and easy drive into town center for pintos.

Wouldn't stay again.

Air conditioning did not work. Room was extremely warm. Front desk indicated it would be fixed, but problem was never addressed. Was later told to open the window, but outside smelled like a garbage dump, making it hard to sleep through the terrible smell. Location is far away from town, although the bus system is efficient.

Beautiful setting with lots of parking available. Rooms are a little on the tight side, but they are well laid out. Some of the switches to operate the lighting in the room, while conveniently located, are counter intuitive. Breakfast is from a limited selection but quality is excellent, with a focus on organic and healthy options.

Ultramodern comfortable and very affordable

Ultramodern Hotel in a suburb that’s a 20 minute bus ride from the beach and center of town. We had some trouble figuring out how to close the blinds, etc. as everything was electronic but the staff were happy to help. I was worried that the 20 minute bus ride would be problematic but it really wasn’t.

We loved the location, the friendly staff and our gorgeous
room overlooking the trees. We also loved the passive house concept, it's possible to blend style and comfort with caring for our environment. Well done Arima!! Last but not least, Arima serve the best breakfast in Spain.

This hotel was amazing. Not quite like any place I have ever stayed. Rooms were extremely spacious and comfy. Food options on site were amazing. Located to very nice walking trails. Only thing that bummed us out was that we were not allowed up to rooftop patio as pool was closed for season. Still would have been nice to go up to take in views. Parking was convenient in the garage.
