Coffee machine didnt work, very limited selection for continental breakfast, boxes were puled up in the entrance and housekeeping staff werr noisily lifting pales of bed linen and boxes from a side door through the entrance jsit adjacent to where I was sitting which was a bit irregular and uncomfortable

The Room had several filthy marks on carpets, the bathroom sink has cracks all around this, the white window nets where stained yellow, bedside light not working , we was also promised a free late check out due to the issues, then charged £15 for the extra hour when our deposit was released , staff we rude and came across as not cari g also NO bar area as described in hotel and restaurant was very worn and needs a refresh, NOT worth the mo we paid for the room.. its a real shame as from the outside and grand staircase you are left ver underwhelmed !! The bed on the room was the best part of the stay. Big and comfortable.

Check-in was unfriendly at best.
The reception and hallways smelt a bit stale. Thankfully the room smelt fresh.
There were cobwebs on the chandelier. One of which had been hanging so long that it fell into the bed whilst I was watching tele late at night.
The bathroom is too small for such a grand room. Tight space and toiletries not restocked. Body wash was empty.
Also room was cold. There was a spare heater in there which means it’s something they are aware of. Perhaps provide comforters in the wardrobes.
And again, checkout was not the friendliest goodbye.
An okay experience but certainly didn’t feel like the treat I’d hoped it would be.

Checked in at 3pm, told dinner would be available in the hotel restaurant at 6pm - no need to book, just turn up. So we went to restaurant at 6pm as instructed, told it was fully booked and so they could not feed us. Rainy night, nothing else available on a Sunday night, so after telling the reception staff this was hopeless, we left the hotel at 6:15 pm. I do not expect to be charged for this night’s accommodation as we did not use it. Reception staff could only say restaurant is a separate business, nothing to do with them, not their fault. Dreadful experience all round.

I enjoyed it clean and spacious I choose club room. The only two thing is the little pillows looked unkept they should have stick to the white pillow cases, it was abit cold for me even with the heater on. But overall it was enjoyable sauna and steam room was quiet so I was lucky to have it to myself.

Room was incredibly cold. Air con / heater unit didn’t operate correctly and the filter needed cleaning. Bathroom and bedroom smelled of sewage. Customer service from front desk staff on arrival and departure was poor. No rapport building whatsoever. Cold and formulaic. Night manager was rude at best, we were ignored, left waiting, left unaddressed and moved about and spoken to abysmally. Worst customer service we have EVER experienced within a UK hotel or any overnight stay - never mind from a 4* establishment. Little reflected more than 2* quality aside from the actual bedding. Do not recommend.

The hotel was impossible to get hold of before our stay, as we wanted to ask about the possibility of an early check in. We emailed and phoned several times but had no response. When we got there we were told they don’t offer early check-in anymore (even though the room welcome leaflet references it) so we had to get ready for a wedding we were going to in the spa changing rooms!
Club room was ok but could do with a bit more space and a few more conveniences on each level, like bins etc. We stayed for two nights and would have appreciated some replenished refreshments (drinks, biscuits, cups etc) on the second day. That said, staff were very friendly and the hotel was clean and in a great location for Poplar station (5 min walk) meaning everywhere was easily reachable.

Lovely hotel. I had a room on the 3rd floor which I would avoid in future as it involves taking 2 lifts with the second lift being very slow (in keeping with the structure of the building) and also it takes a while for hot water to run. Comfortable but was disappointed as I could hear the adjacent room very clearly. Close to Poplar DLR stn.
Cannot comment on restaurant, spa or gym.

My husband and I had a truly wonderful stay this weekend for his birthday
Our 'Club Room' was perfect- very sleek, clean, and a comfortable. The hotel was whimsically and elegantly decorated for Christmas, and the lovely staff could not have been more helpful or kind, even when we arrived ahead of check-in and they stowed our bags away so we could head off into London.
A really memorable stay- would recommend!

The hotel is really convenient for Poplar DLR and heading to Canary Wharf for dinner. The room was quirky with a mezzanine level for the bed, and everything you need for a short stay in London. However, the room was incredibly hot and we just couldn't get the temperature down. Did report it and something was done remotely but the temperature stayed the same. This led to two very uncomfortable nights. Noise carries through the walls too! I asked twice for a different pillow because the ones provided were really high. No pillow ever appeared.

This is a lovely hotel. Great Indian restaurant on site. Amazing cocktails.We stayed in a club room. Stairs were very steep and shower was a step in over bath shower. Shower was great but was very slippery and there was no anti slip mat. I slipped even though I was careful. I did raise this with reception but otherwise a fantastic stay.

Reception and staff were kind but unenthusiastic. I was told flatly my room wasn't ready even though I was attempting to check in only 30 mins before check in time & had written expressing my hope for an early check in & willingness to pay for it (they offer this on their website). They sent me to the restaurant, which came to seem like a ploy, as I only wanted a drink and a snack & the waitstaff while kind questioned my choice, & kept encouraging me to order more & to come back that night, the following morning & the next night. The food was truly delicious, but I didn't want more than I wanted. The duplex room was interesting (the hotel is a converted town hall) & spacious, but the strange German-language lighting & climate control system was frustrating & the room was stuffy & hot. I slept poorly. The hotel is 20 min walk from Canary Wharf, but this walk is up & down a highly elevated pedestrian bridge & through a big construction site. A couple of blocks in the other direction there are council housing buildings with many boarded up windows, a pretty grim and depressing area when you're hoping for a carefree getaway. The gym had only three cardio machines & free weights, but no towels, no sanitizer, & no water. The one appetizer I had in the South Indian restaurant was very, very good, & unlike anything I'd had before (I love Indian cuisine); if I were staying longer and the hotel weren't in a kind of depressing location I would have gone back, but have no plans to now.

Cute Property, but Some Bad Customer Service

Great property and mostly good service. However, the AC in my room was not working properly. Not only were they inable to fix it, but the front desk person argued with me on the morningnof checkout telling me it was working fine and I'm wrong. Also, the wifi didnt support video calls. It's a shame because it's a very cute property with a great indian reataurant down below with a perfect back terrace.

On arrival advised lift to my room level not working . Meant three sets of stairs to move bag to room . I advised I was leaving on second morning at 6 am & if lift not operable I wanted to relocate to a lower level room.

Nice and easy check in, we reserved a space in the car park which was 100 metres away, even after check out we could leave it there until 1:00pm which enabled us to take a short walk to the shopping centre. The room was comfortable and well equipped with ironing board, on return from an event we used the restaurant not arriving until 10:00pm and although it shuts at 10:00pm they were happy to seat us, it’s an Indian restaurant and the food and service was excellent. We didn’t pre book breakfast and as we were only there for 1 night didn’t use the steam room or Sauna but we could see some guests using it. Overall a hotel perfect for what we wanted.

I had carefully put my blood pressure medication with the hotels pen I was using and a small torch in a glass beside the bed.

When we got back to the hotel that night on
my medication torch + hotel pen had been taken. All the night porter could say was no one would do that. He had no idea where things could be.
My pills and torch were found next day in the office. This is not good enough.

The first night we got to London we went for a drink in the restaurant as described / suggested on website? There was a couple eating a meal in the restaurant and us. The couple eating left and another couple came in and took drinks away with them. The waiter started to clean the floor. We were half way through our drinks and told that they were closing and we would have to go. 10.30pmish did not seem that late to us. We later found out restaurant is not part of the hotel. Relaxing drink at the end of the day it was not.

They seemed very stingy with sachets of coffee. We assume cleaner also forgot to top up coffee and leave cups and as were only there for a 2 night stay we did not try to sort it out.

The first room I was offered smelt of sewage drain pipes on the ground floor, and then I was moved to a room on the top floor with a broken AC. A fan noisier than the city airport was offered instead to just blow hot air around, as windows were unable to be opened!
No offer of compensation to date, so I'm not overly impressed about this, tbh.

When we arrived at our room the key card didn’t work. When we went back to reception to get it fixed, the manager came and was also unable to unlock the room with a mechanical key. We were waiting 20 minutes while they tried to ram the door open. They told us they had no other room we could go in. When we said we would be uncomfortable staying in a room that could lock us in like that, the manager spoke to us in an angry and argumentative manner. There was no apology or compensation from the manager for the issue or delay. Instead they spoke to us disrespectfully. They then found a room for us to go in, despite initially saying they were fully booked. The heating in the room was blasting hot. We couldn’t turn it off and the air con didn’t seem to counteract it. I asked reception to turn the heating off while we were out, we returned home to a room that was boiling hot. She had not turned the heating off like she said she would. Overall the hotel was very clean and in a quiet area. However, the room was more tired than I would hope considering the price. The biggest disappointment was the rude manager.

The room we were given after a late night check in was of poor condition. We struggled to lock the door, the aircon did not work (it was a very warm night) the hotel had placed a fan in the room which was right next to the bed and even on the lowest setting was too loud. The bathroom vanity light didn’t switch off - and the bathroom door was frosted glass, so you were in the light all the time. There wasn’t a window in the room to open. The carpet had dirty marks on it and the wardrobe draw was falling to bits. There was no phone in the room to call reception or spare hangers in the wardrobe to hang clothes. I got dressed and went back to reception just before midnight - who handed over keys to another room of far better quality. We then had to repack and move.

The next morning when I complained- reception advised they were aware of the issues! When I said why would you let that room, the reply was “I know”…. The room was number 202. It’s not of the quality in the images.

It really did ruin our nights sleep - and we only stayed for that.

It’s such a beautiful hotel too.

A very quiet hotel from outside noise and lovely staff , stored our bags prior to check in , issues were bathroom light in room doesn't turn off and opaque door so very poor sleep, stuffy hot rooms with no opening windows (age of building) and air con not very good but provided a fan which was large and very noisy, broken plug for table lamp and fridge not cold. The website is out of date stating food options that are not available.....pan Asian restaurant which if we had know we wouldn't have chosen hotel as we don't eat that cuisine but they offered alternatives and the hotel is connected to a very successful Asian restaurant business so probably very good if you like curry. Breakfast ok, simple choices and easily able to walk to Canary Wharf.

The building is beautiful. The room, gorgeous.
Clean, tidy. Staff are helpful.
The AC was not working in the Junior Suite and the room was unbearable hot.
We asked for fans and were told they just needed to reset the AC. And we went out.
Came back to 2 fans in the room.
The temperature increased overnight exponentially and had the worst night sleep. So uncomfortable and such a shame.
This is the only issue but it ended up being the main focus of our stay. We had a great day in London, celebrating our anniversary, and the room just let us down.
Exhausted, no sleep, and now off for another day in London before returning home.

If you're expecting this hotel to be in Canary wharf, be aware that it isn't! It's a 15 min walk away, on the other side of the aspen way. Nice hotel though. Be careful in the shower, there's no grip on the shower floor and my wife slipped over in there, hurting her back. Reported to reception when checking out but they didn't seem too bothered.

Brilliant room, nicely and tastefully decorated.

The stairs on the first floor within the hotel room on the first floor were too steep for me to climb. I have a torn meniscus on my knee. The bathroom and bedroom were on separate floors. The hotel was full and so unable to move me. I had to ask for a quilt and pillow so that I could sleep on the floor. No sheet was provided and no one cared to ask how I was or offer any compensation.
I understand that when I booked in December there was a photo of the room but I had no idea the stairs were so steep or the bathroom was on a different floor. Our son had booked us a show at the O2 arena 2 years ago and thus was a big treat for us so disappointing to face a night on a hard floor.
The room is very nice but totally inaccessible for an elderly person and this was not flagged up in the hotel booking.zI would have been prepared to pay more to have a better room and would have appreciated even another quilt to sleep on instead of the floor. I felt there was no sympathy and a very hard nosed approach to my unfortunate situation.
I am awaiting some sort of response from the management

Beautiful hotel, we stayed in the junior suite, 303. Very spacious and conformal, large shower and lovely lounge area. Hotel is walking distance- a few minutes to the DLR station Poplar giving easy access to Canary Wharf and central London. The staff were lovely, kind, responsive and very welcoming, shout out to Ernest Knox who made us feel welcome, was alway la smiling and made sure knew where we were going. Breakfast was fresh, well prepared and the restaurant area had a lovely atmosphere. We would absolutely return and high recommend this hotel.

The hotel was great, really comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great for attending ABBA voyage so highly recommended.

Fantastic hotel

Hotel is a little out of the way but when inside it is absolutely spectacular. Our room was amazing- probably one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at.

Conveniently located a short walk from Canary Wharf station & very reasonably priced for the quality compared to hotels in the West End or City. Limited dining options at the hotel (I was offered pizza, pizza or pizza & charged a ridiculous amount for it.)

Me and my partner had a one night stay in the 2nd floor octagonal room. Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted and a £50 deposit was taken. However once we got up to the room we noticed it was freezing cold as the heating was not working at all. My partner went downstairs to discuss this issue and the manager came up to the room, had a look and said he would sort it from their end and to wait ten minutes. We waited and still noticed that the heating was blowing out cold air. We ended up going downstairs four times each time being told to go back up and wait 10 minutes until they finally gave us a portable heater. There was a recent previous review on google saying that they had had the same issue with the heating, leading us to assume that they had the same room and the staff were aware that this room had no heating. Overall the experience was alright, not 10/10 but not 5/10 either, the hotel itself was clean and close to canary wharf station however with the building being so old we would’ve preferred to know that the room had no heating especially as this was in the middle of january.

Good Hotel - but wouldn’t stay again.

We stayed during December and the Christmas tree and decorations were stunning - check in and out was super easy, the room was a great size and exactly as shown in photos, very clean and tidy, loved the historic photos and the bronze wall featured on the staircase. We stayed on the ground floor and it was extremely noisy, they had Christmas music playing in the foyer which could be heard very loudly from the room as well as staff up and about from 7am, you could hear word for word what they were saying and it was quite disruptive, we arrived at 3pm and wanted to head to the bar for a drink but it doesn’t open till 6pm and it’s just a room in the basement with a few stools for the noise and attempted bar, I wouldn’t stay again however staff were helpful and room was in great condition.
