The hotel is part of the Novotel group so that is the standard of service. My room was spacious and well equipped, with a large window leading to a balcony, kettle with tea and coffee provided, a small fridge, a safe, aircon, good lightings spread throughout, plenty of power sockets of both english and european format, good storage space, excellent wi fi and a large screen tv. Very good bed too. The bathroom was comfortable with enough towels provided, liquid soap and shampoo and a hair dryer. Everything was clean, the staff is attentive and do well their job. Good breakfast choice and quality. The area is unattractive, with a succession of tourist trap eateries (all 5 star reviewed on some website…) on the sea front and ugly concrete flats at the back, but it is excellent for transport with bus stops two minutes away (including a bus that takes you to and from the airport) from the hotel entrance and boats and ferries within ten minutes walking.

Excellent location, great sized room with decent sized balcony and comfortable bed. Only minor issue that bemused me was the the ceiling, which was bare, unfinished cement and was a complete mismatch with the rest of the room.
Very nice bathroom. Cleaner visited every day and did a good job.

The room had bare concrete ceilings which were ugly and smelt and gave the impression that the room was still under construction. Also sections of the wall near the balcony door were also bare and rough concrete which was unsighlty and dangerous if touched. Neither the condition of the ceiling and walls were revealed in the pre booking advertisements.

I stayed at this hotel recently and overall had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent, making it very convenient to get around and explore the area. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep. The personnel were extremely kind and helpful throughout my stay, and the breakfast was really good with a nice variety of options.

However, there are a few areas that could be improved. The towels were quite old and thin and could definitely use replacing. The bathroom also had some visible stains on the tiles here and there, which affected the overall impression of cleanliness. The most annoying issue was the kitchen smell—particularly the fried sausage smell—which was noticeable in the lobby, the lift, and sometimes even in the rooms.

If the hotel could address the smell issue and refresh some of the bathroom textiles, it would make a big difference. With those improvements, I would definitely consider staying here again.

The lady who sells the tours where loudly arguing with another receptionist, who was very loud too in front of the guests and showed no mercy that we were all uncomfortable remorse to it

Stayed at Azur Hotel for a week during my apartment search in Malta and it genuinely exceeded expectations. The room was spotless - everything felt fresh and well-maintained, which says a lot about how seriously ST Hotels takes their properties. Special mention to Ivan at the reception - he was incredibly helpful throughout my stay, always going the extra mile to make sure I had everything I needed. The location in Gzira is perfect - walking distance to Sliema waterfront, great cafes nearby, and a calm neighborhood at the same time. I'll definitely be coming back in March for an extended stay. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable base in central Malta.

Nice hotel. But was put in room 3005 right next to the breakfast area. After arriving at 2am it was quite a shock to get woken up at around 6am. Couldn’t get back to sleep and it’s impossible in that particular room.

Got moved but the lady on the front desk was the friendliest and never apologized.

Once moved the room I got was great.

Gym was out of order. Also had issues where room keys weren’t working.

Great hotel as long as you don’t get room 3005.

The advertisement said there was an outdoor swimming pool. There was not - but there was a good (public pool serving several hotels) about 250 metres away - crossing 2 main roads and requiring us to change out of our wet bathing costumes before returning to the hotel.
Our room was not prepared for us when we arrived and the double bed had to be splint into the 2 singles we had booked.
Servicing of the room was poor on most days and on several occasions we had to sit out on the balcony, in the late afternoon, whilst the beds were made.

The room was in good condition. Staff were attentive, including the room cleaners. Just a few minor things in the room that didn’t impact on the holiday were the short flush push button of the toilet that was inoperative and the air conditioner was working, however the bottom flap was loose as someone broke one of the clips that held the flap in place. A photo was taken ten minutes after checking in. The push button for the overhead shower was also unusable as the fittings were loose. I had to use the small shower head instead which was fine.

I didn’t notice at the time, that the swimming pool featured on the brochure was not of the hotel (ST Hotel Azur) complex itself but another building opposite the hotel (Aqualuna) along the waterfront.

The gymnasium that was featured was anything but what the brochure had featured. My wife and I used the gym which again was in another hotel (ST Hotel Bayview) and not the hotel where I was staying. The equipment available was very disappointing, the electrical equipment like the treadmill as one of them had a inoperative start button that no one could utilise as it appeared to be gouged out, therefore the machine couldn’t be used, the other treadmill was working fine and is the only one you can use fully with no effects. The room itself was very small and looked like the room could do with a bit of DIY.

The breakfast itself for me was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Typical continental breakfast with full English breakfast buffet.

Everything about my stay was wonderful — from the attentive staff to the cleanliness and amenities, as well as the convenient location. I was especially impressed by the front desk staff member Anthony and the cleaning lady Winnie, who went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. The overall atmosphere was welcoming and well-maintained, making my visit very enjoyable. What stood out the most was the professionalism of the manager, Patricia. When I brought up a small issue regarding the placement of a water station in the lobby, she handled it swiftly and with great care. It was clear that the team is dedicated to providing excellent service. I truly wish I could have such outstanding staff at my own hotel. Everything ran smoothly throughout my stay, and I will definitely be coming back.

Breakfast ok but lack of decent selection of fresh fruit or vegetarian options. We had a superior room which was basic to say the least, so dread to think what a standard room was like. Bed made daily but room not cleaned, we had a cup of coffee sat on a table for 8 days. Bathroom definitely not cleaned either, towels changed but amount left varied.
Returned from day out at 16.15 to find room still not cleaned so no we had to tell the cleaner to just change our towels. The pool is pretty good, just across the road. However, half of the beds by the pool are reserved for another hotel as it is a communal beach club. Non residents can pay to use this so most days beds around the pool are taken, but, there are plenty more up on the roof terraces. I personally would not go back to this hotel.

The hotel was clean. The room was a good size. We had a large bed, which was comfortable for me but my friend found too soft. We stayed 4 days and asked for the room to be cleaned and it was done. The staff were helpful. The buffet breakfast had a good selection. Our room had a balcony and did overlook the local residents but it was not a problem. The hotel is located in a side street off the main road. It is near the harbour. There is also plenty of restaurants if you want to eat out. I would stay here again.

Great stay at the Azur hotel. Friendly staff (mention to Ivan and Fiona) that goes above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. Comfortable room, full breakfast. Note the pool isn’t in the hotel but at a nearby club (very walkable distance) which also has great service, drinks and food. There is also a safe locker section in the basement if you need extra time to venture before your flight. The bathroom in that section needs some love.

Good variety of buffet breakfast and nice location. Walkable to many restaurants, supermarket, bus station and the port. The pool is across the street with a great view to the port with many nice boats. Everything was clean and the room is spacious. All rooms have balconies and good views. It is pretty quiet and always full in high season. There is a large deposit area for luggage where you can also take a shower before going to the airport. We got access to the pool before the check in which was great cuz we arrived very early and the check in is at 2pm.
Totally recommend this hotel and we will definitely choose it again.

The fitness room wasn't working. The check in took a very long time as they had just one staff. The room was very dark. No central light. The breakfast wasn't great. The cleaning starts only at 3pm, not ideal. The pool is not in the hotel but outside and opened to other visitors. It is very busy. The shampo and shower gel are terrible, had to buy some.

The room was a good size with enough storage space for two, bathroom was good with a shower with good water pressure.

Breakfast was fine, gluten free bread was available upon request. The website is misleading though and the restaurant is only open for breakfast.

The coral bar detailed on the website no longer exists and is simply just seating behind the reception desk.

On this site the hotel is labelled as having an on-site pool, this is incorrect. Rooms actually receive free access to the lido across the street. Other hotels nearby also receive free access and the lido is also open to the public.

Room cleaning service happened later in the day than I would have liked, usually 4/5pm.

Fitness centre is awful and consisted of only a broken treadmill, a broken fitness bike, and a cable machine.

A good choice for those who want to spend most of their time outside the hotel, the room is good for cooking off with air-conditioning but the hotel has few other facilities. The lido is nice but gets busy quickly and the food and drinks there can be expensive.

I am not sure if my chat with Expedia was seen by hotel. It seemed to me that they had to find another room which had to be adapted to our request - twin room & accessible.
When towels needed to be changed we had to follow up with Reception for new towels to be given ‘emergency towels’. We still did not get any hand towels or shower mat. Had to use one of bath towels so we did not slip on the tiled floor. This happened twice. I was told there was a problem with laundry.
The staff were very helpful & polite. The General Manager was present a few times which was nice. Thank you.

Pool is open to any public paying customer. Very busy and across the way from the hotel. Gym is disgusting. Bed in room was piling and uncomfortable. Our view despite saying sea view faced another building.

The staff was exceptional, from front desk to room attendant. The breakfast which was included was very good , the WiFi was good as well. The location is walking distance to all popular locations . The towels are small and thin, the bed is not that good, it’s a bit lumpy to be honest, pillows are terrible. The view was not very good at all from fifth floor. It’s was priced very fairly so I guess some disappointments should be expected. It’s not what I expected from the pictures, there is no pool. The picture of one is the Aqualuna about 2 blocks away. The hotel providers daily passes. All in all it was a good stay. Room attendant upon request brought towels and extra pillows which helped a lot.

The swimming pool is not on site, but across a busy road and is shared by a number of other hotels and businesses. There is no restaurant on site; just a breakfast room. The breakfast is always cold and the cold cheese and meat option is tasteless. Rooms are ok. The approach to the hotel is up a scrappy road, with graffitti on the walls leading up to the hotel. Not as advertised on their website. Not overlooking the marina as in their photos.

The hotel itself is generally nice, but the pictures look better than its actual conditions, the sheets and linens seem to be a bit worn.
There was some very loud noise from cleaning staff playing music and talking in other rooms, this last for hours. So I wouldn't say the room is very sound proof.

Great hotel right on the seafront and just a short walk away from the ferries. Room was very comfortable, staff are super friendly and helpful, the breakfasts are buffet style (everything from fresh fruit and yoghurt to English breakfast and toast).
There is a pool available to use, but it’s not attached to the hotel itself (only a minute walk across the road away though).
There isn’t much to do in the hotel itself, but it’s right in the middle of the town with bus and ferry connections all around it.
Overall a great hotel, would stay here again.

The photos online aren’t actually what you get. The pool isn’t a part of the property, it’s an entirely different entity from the chain. Staff were great but facilities not so much. Pillows were like tea bags, sheets and towels were dingy and most likely needed to be removed from service. The bed was on a wooden slat, bathroom sink drain broken but the bright side is it was a great view.

A very clean hotel, excellent spread at breakfast (apart from the bacon, apparently! Not that I tried it.), with plenty of options. I rate this hotel very highly, especially considering the reasonable pricing.

Free access to the lido over the street is arranged through reception. Special mentions to Sina on Reception who was very helpful when I decided to extend my stay, Lela the cleaner who did an immaculate job on the room, and Lily on the breakfast service who was very efficient and helpful.

Plenty of eateries nearby on The Strand, towards Sliema, and also easy access to Valletta either by ferry or bus.

I do not recommend

The hotel’s location is perhaps its only notable advantage. Beyond that, the positives quickly fade. I opted for a Superior room expecting comfort, but reality fell far short. My window overlooked the rooftop of the neighboring building (just 4 meters away), where residents routinely hung laundry and paced around—hardly a scenic retreat.

The room itself felt claustrophobic, with ceilings so low I could easily reach up and touch them. The walls near the balcony and the ceiling were stark, unfinished concrete, giving the space an industrial, almost unfinished vibe. The bedding told a story of neglect: linens were threadbare, covered in pilled fabric, and the duvet cover—supposedly white—was frayed at the edges. Even the mattress seemed compromised; orphaned zippers hinted at a missing protector that once served a purpose.

The bathroom offered no respite. Moisture had warped the shower paneling, leaving it swollen and uneven. Breakfast, served in a cramped dining area, was a monotonous affair with a limited selection—clearly not designed for the hotel’s capacity. Finding a seat felt like a competitive sport, and I shudder to imagine the chaos during peak season.

I have stayed in the Azur hotel 4 times now and each time l have had to ask them to put a mattress cover on the mattress. It is really unhygienic not to have one,staff said they stopped putting them on in covid because it made too much washing for them????

Loved this hotel

Quite, clean, comfortable. Large rooms. Excellent breakfast, but go before 8:00. Close to Ponsonby bus stop which was convenient to get to Valetta and rest of island. Close to bay promenade and good restaurants. Simon on front desk was most helpful. Genuinely friendly people everywhere.

A Delightful Stay at Azur Hotel

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Azur Hotel. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. The hotel's location is perfect for exploring the local area, with many attractions and a wide selection of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist.

Breakfast each morning has a wide selection of delicious options to suit every taste. From fresh fruit and pastries to hot dishes, the breakfast spread was both varied and satisfying.

I highly recommend Azur Hotel for anyone looking for a clean, well-situated, friendly and reasonably priced place to stay.

Location ok. Hotel is literally just rooms and a dining area. No relaxation areas so you’re either in or out! Lighting in room is very poor - we had to leave the bathroom door open to be able to look for clothes. Also the glass panel between the bathroom and the bedroom throws an enormous amount of bright light into the bedroom in the direction of the beds if you need to use the toilet in the night, thus waking any sleepers.
On the plus side, staff are very courteous, the beds are comfortable and the hotel is clean. The free beach club is nice but can obviously be used by anyone not just hotel guests so can get crowded.

We booked and paid for a superior room, but was put in a standard room. Receptionist couldn't resolve, and had to pass it to day time manager, next day. Next day we got our superior room. No aplogy. Dining room is to cramped. They need to take some furniture out. Breakfast was very average, and mostly cold. Room was lovely and staff were lovely to. No bar, sign saying it was being refurbished, but saw no work taking place, just looks like they have closed it.

The location was excellent. Room was cleaned evey day. Breakfast in the morning had a good variety. I loved the Lido where thw pool was situated. I couldn't fault the hotel or its staff.

Adequate for a one night stay but wouldn't want to stay longer. Right on pavement of narrow busy sideroad with alot of building work underway nearby.

Dark & very busy reception, no bar/cafe/refreshment facilitates other than very busy breakfast buffet.

Pool across road right on harbor, looked nice, had a cafe.

Nice clean hotel with friendly staff. In a built up area and not as relaxing as we thought the holiday would be. Free access to aqualuna pool was good however it was very busy each time we used it and could be cleaner. Good breakfast.

I and my wife enjoyed our stay, everything like the shops and restaurants and other places of interest was in close proximity. The staffs were nice and everywhere was neat and tidy. We’ll definitely be back! Excellent service for sure!
