I'm unsure why we were put in what looked like a poorly maintained handicapped room with cracked floors, a cracked sink, no hand soap, looking out at a brick wall. This was a Monday night, and I could tell the hotel was not fully booked. We will never be back to this hotel - so disappointing.

The hotel wasn’t too bad but it needs lots of improvements like first of all fix the parking lot there’s a lot of potholes. It shouldn’t be like that since you have to pay for parking which I thought was ridiculous since you pay for the hotel. Also the staff were not very helpful only one staff member helped who was very nice to us. It just felt like they were annoyed with every request we made. Lastly, as we were leaving the hotel our room key stopped working so one person had to stay while the other had to carry all of the bags down while being rushed to leave.

I like the AC Hotels because of the European concept. The rooms are cozy and modern. The Business Center at thisnlocation provides some privacy. I liked the location of the bar and the friendliness of the bartender. I did not visit the AC Kitchen at this location but i am sure it was great. This hotel provides a great location and a fair price. The staff is amazing on all shifts.

It was very clean, food on the chairs and crumbs in the bed. I had to switch rooms because the tv didn’t have wifi, bathroom shower wasn’t clean has to clean it … the first time we stayed a year ago it was nice… this time wasn’t great at all. The lil snack area to buy drinks was covered in liquor no waters or juice.

The staff were very friendly - especially at the front desk, breakfast attendant, and bartender.

The room design was very functional for modern design - master light switch, task lighting at the bedside, mirror on the bedroom side. However I was disappointed at the cleanliness and bed quality. The floor was a little sticky, air filter (visible) was dirty, and there was someone else’s leftover food in the fridge (I could see how housekeeping missed it). The bed spring made noise when I sat/laid in bed. It wasn’t uncomfortable, but felt a little lumpy.

I hope management can address the cleanliness for future guests. It’s a great property.

PS - love the mural outside.

The hotel was totally fine except a GritNGravy foodtruck with a deafening generator was parked out front. They got almost no customers, but didn't turn off their generator until midnight. Make sure you don't get a room near the street!!!

Not a Typical AC Hotel Experience

We usually stay at AC Hotels because they are nice, clean, and have a great European-style breakfast. This was our first time staying at the AC Hotel Kansas City Plaza, and it will be our last.

The hotel staff was friendly, but seemed distracted and not attentive. The lobby area looks nice, but as soon as we arrived on our floor and the elevator opened, we could tell the hotel wasn't in good shape.

Our room was very “used,” and while we didn't notice any dirt, it looked very grungy. There was flooring coming up off the floor, and big gaps in between the planks, which hurt if you stepped on them. The tile in the bathroom appeared to have experienced some significant issues in the past.

One of the elevators didn't work for the entire three nights of our stay, which meant there was only one elevator for all the guests and housekeeping. So, it was nearly impossible to get an elevator, which made checking out a challenge as we had to wait a long time to bring our suitcases down.

We added breakfast to our reservation because we have historically enjoyed it when staying at AC Hotels. However, we one got breakfast our first morning due to it being quite “sad.” The fruit looked old, and the selection wasn't very good.

Unfortunately, the next time we visit KC, we will not be staying at the AC Hotel Kansas City Plaza.

It’s the kind of place where you spill a little water on night stand, go to clean with a tissue and it’s brown when you’re done. Dusty dark rooms with no windows and seems to have gone down hill - used to stay here a lot, but torn because location is great, but management needs to change. Would also train male staff on customer service (former hospitality industry here and no need to be rude to patrons asking for an extra key). But for $253 a night for a bed with springs poking at you and paper thin walls, not sure I will be back.

The good thing is they were willing to credit me but I would have rather had vacuumed carpet and sleep at night not people arguing and I couldn’t find a phone in room to call the desk at 2 and 3 am. When your paying 282 a night I expect clean safe room

The room had a good view, was cozy, and clean. I'm giving it 3 stars because the floor felt sticky and the toilet had visible urine from several days ago. The bathroom door isn't very private if you're traveling with family. Other than that, it's very nice and the breakfasts are good.
I didn't report anything to the restroom. Honestly, after so many hours of driving on the highway, the best thing you can hope for is to arrive and rest in a CLEAN place. It's uncomfortable..
Other than that, it's a good place.

I will start by saying that every interaction I had with the staff was fantastic. Everyone there was kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about helping or answering questions. The property itself was lackluster. From the awkward vehicle entry and parking gate situation to the tacky no smoking signs plastered all over the front of the building. The carpet in the hallway is filthy and full of stains. There is only one functional elevator. Another guest told me she had stayed there 4 times in the last 3 months and the elevator had not worked that entire time. My room was directly above the only entry gate from the parking lot to the front of the hotel. I heard the gate slam every time anyone used it. I had to stream noise through my phone so I could sleep through the night. The property simply needs updating.

The bathroom was not cleaned. The bathing had mold in it the sink drain was crusty and had hair in it. The bathroom smelt like a wet sour stinky sock. The whole tube leaked massive amounts of water from the bottom looked like it was sealed poorly as a quick fix. There was paint splattered all over bathroom wall paper. There was a water stain and what looked like mold above the sink in the bathroom. When we walked from parking lot to the gate that let’s you in from parking lot there was a huge oil spill on side walk and almost slipped fell on my butt. Had to tell 3 people before got cleaned up.
Online pictures definitely must be years old because the whole hotel seemed to be falling apart. Front desk did nothing but say will put it out of service.

The water pressure was low, the top overhead shower head did not work. They only brought us towels one time for a 3 night stay and did nothing else. A food truck was parked outside of our window until 3:30 am one night / early morning. The removeable shower nozzle did not want to stay in a good position to shower.

I loved the vibe of the hotel, they offer gated parking for $15 extra a day which was nice! The room was fantastic, the only thing I have any sort of issue was that the bed wasn’t comfortable for me or my wife, but I’m assuming that’s because we’ve got back problems. I LOVED the water fall shower.

Not the fanciest room, but it was good in all the ways that matter. The beds were very comfortable, the room and bathroom were clean and convenient and had soft water. There is fenced parking so I wasn’t worried about my car. It was a good price and it was 10 minutes from the Midland Theatre where our concert was. It was also 10 minutes from The Plaza with lots of shopping and restaurants!

Secure motorcycle parking and good all around

The electrical gated parking was perfect for me parking my Harley and the building was secure. It is in an okay area, I went running during the day and good restaurants walking distance. Traveling was easy on my bike, I saw a concert at Starlight. The staff was very atrentive and pleasant. I will stay there again if I ever go to that area and I do recommend.

There are a ton of better options in Kansas City, please don't fall for the pix and good reviews. I stayed one night in July 2025 and this place is a total dump. 3.5 stars is more like 2 stars....the hallway carpet is filthy, the rooms are worn and broken, the windows are dirty, the room was dirty, the AC didn't quite work. When you check in, the clerk says, \"we serve a European-style buffet every morning from 6-10,\" neglecting to mention it costs $10 and is not included in the room price. If I'm every in KC again, I'll be sure to stay elsewhere.

The property was nice, but it looked like a cheap hotel that was trying to look fancy. It did have a nice walk in shower and I loved the vanity area. The shower was not totally clean, there was mildew in the grout and around the edges of the shower on the outside and inside. The bed was very hard and felt like sleeping on a cardboard box.

Rebecca at the front desk is an absolute gem! I cannot say enough good things about how helpful and wonderful she was to our family. Room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is the bathroom door. There is a large gap and with the chrome frame you can see the reflection of whoever is in the bathroom. Otherwise our stay was perfect.
