Everything was lovely here. The fresh flower smells all over the resort. The plentiful food options, all top notch.
We loved the indoor lap pool and of course the onsens were just spectacular. Thank you so much for and amazing and authentic Japanese experience

The room was clean and I love the shuttle service they provided from pick up and drop off between hotel and the Toya JR station. All hotel staff were very nice and the only regret we had was that we only spent three nights in December. We booked the skii class at the site and the instructors and staff were fantastic as well! I highly recommend this place!

Great breakfast options. Japanese, western or buffet. I chose western. Premium fresh fruits, pastries, famous Hokkaido milk, different juices and many more. The outdoor onsen is beautiful. Our room with lake view, we could see the lakeside fireworks at night and beautiful sunrise in the morning. The best of all, they let us check in early since our room is ready. And the check out time is not till 12 pm. White gloves staff services through out the hotel. The room is extremely clean. We would definitely will come back.

Nice 5 star hotel. The service and staff is top notch. The views are spectacular. Great place to retreat to and relax. We stayed here for 1 night in our trip through Hokkaido.

My only issue was at check in. We were required to make the dinner reservations and meal selection at the front desk. And not everything we wanted was available to us. So it was very awkward experience in my opinion. I don’t know if I made a mistake not reserving the restaurants in advance but it is hard to know what you want for dinner up to 7 months in advance. Maybe it was just better to order room service.

Have to call them to make reservations for the shuttle, which may be difficult for foreigners. Tried to msg them through Expedia's platform but it went unanswered. Couldn't contact them through their website as well. Overall, still a pleasant stay.. although the fireworks is quite small from high up. View of clouds from the hotel is nice in the early morning.

Beautiful property and hotel with amazing views all around. The staff was wonderful with great hospitality. Very good breakfast on site as well which I recommend adding to your stay as it’s far to the main town to get breakfast.

Only small criticism is the WiFi was substandard for a property with so much focus on the details. Was difficult to connect to and stay connected to.

The property is older but well maintained. The views are absolutely amazing! You definitely need a car if you stay here - the hotel sits on a mountain top and quite some distance from town (restaurants, shops, and convenience stores).

Very Disappointing service

Checked in was all fine, then receptionist asked us about a dinner reservation, as we had been travelling all day to get here we didn’t know what time we would arrive. We were there at 7pm.
We were informed there were no bookings in the French or Japanese restaurant, and only available in Sushi restaurant. Unfortunately my wife is not a fan of sushi.
After many back and forwards of telling us there is no available dinner options, and my asking to speak to the manager, they found us a reservation at the near empty French restaurant!!
The food was very nice
Wait staff were lovely
Just incredibly disappointing that the hotel did not want to assist us in a dining reservation.
When you stay at a high end hotel like this I expect a lot better
We travel Japan a lot and until now have never had a poor experience

Spectacular location and views for a snowy wonderland in winter. The lobby and sitting areas are beautiful and peaceful. It is quite remote but with a free daily transfer bus available for Toyako or Toya station.

The service was outstanding with very friendly staff. The food was excellent, but quite expensive without options nearby! The bar was quaint and relaxing at the end of the day.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. We didn't utilise the spring or spa services but would recommend this hotel for that special celebration or decadent indulgence!

Hotel is huge with more than 200 rooms, no Japanese onsen feel. We ate at the “Out of Africa” restaurant , food was tasty but service was not attentive at all. The main course was served without cutlery. Wine was not refilled automatically. Room is big but decor looks like hotels in USA.

Excellent stay at Windsor Hotel Toya

From the moment you stepped into the hotel, it feels like you are in a whole new world. Service staff were very welcoming and check in process was very smooth. The room we got had an amazing view overseeing the Lake Toya. The hotel provided shuttle service for the fireworks boat show at Lake Toya which included a drink at the bar on the second floor. The views around the hotel’s compound were spectacular. We managed to get the opportunity to try out the golf cart sightseeing tour around the compound which offered spectacular views (e.g. Lake Toya, Sea view, City view). This is a must visit hotel whenever anyone pays a visit to Lake Toya. We also gave the hotel’s room service a go when we decided to have breakfast in the room. The food arrived on time and it was pleasantly scrumptious. Check out process was quick and hotel staff were once again extremely helpful and assisted us with our luggages promptly. Would definitely be paying a visit to Windsor Hotel Toya again in the near future to enjoy the spectacular views around the hotel and the excellent services provided by the hotel staff.

The best hotel in the area with huge & beautiful lobby. The hotel patisserie offers the best bread. The room is clean & new. It's very comfortable sleeping in the clean bad with good view & the privacy persists even with fully opened curtain. It is highly recommended to experience this luxury stay at least once or twice.

It was very pricey compared to what you would pay for 5star hotel amenities. The rooms are adequately large. You will have a birds eye view of lake toya. There are about 7 different restaurants, we had an american breakfast at gilligan's which was only a semi buffet experience. You cant reserve private time for onsen. I would expect a very hospitable experience, regrettably none of that existed. The doorman, duty manager and front desk didnt make me feel very welcomed at all. Do not bother making this hotel as a stop over for your road trip.

Disappointing Onsen Facilities

Overall the hotel is clean and comfortable. The service in OK but could be better. Onsen is very average for a five-star resort. Ate at 2 restaurants, the breakfast at Gilligan was good. Michel Bras outstanding. The dinner was memorable.

Place is fantastic however we were turned away from the many restaurants in the hotel. Being told that they were fully booked however when we physically visited them they were practically empty! It was very frustrating and not to mention suspicious so in the end we can only conclude that because we had 2 young boys with us aged 7 and 3 they rather not have us despite those restaurants supposedly allowing children. It was a terrible experience not to feel welcome in a 5 star establishment that we were paying top dollar for

Bad experience with premium price

Gave the room with air conditional problem and the room is hot and stuffy! Call up the reception at 9pm and they sent 3 personnel with stupid solutions by providing fan and a noisy cooler! No sincere to fix the issue and they just want us to bear with the hot and stuffy room! End up at 11pm, open up the window and leave us no privacy.

Not even a sorry from their manager or staff during check out. Disappointing stay!

Not a 5 stars hotel standard

The air cond is not working, the room temperature is hot which is cooler outside of the room along the hallway. The exterior Hotel pai t has been dropped off which is a big embarassing for a 5 star Hotel. In addition to that, I feel missing the Japanese hospitality staying in this Hotel. The front desk staff is not friendly at all and give a cold sour face towards the guests. This is the first and the last staying in this Hotel.

Japanese premium hotel with snow activities

A nice hotel perched on top of a hill, which made skiing and snowboarding accessible right from the hotel. Nice views on both sides- either Lake view or Ocean view, with endless mountains in the backdrop. we were also impressed by the staff, very helpful and efficient especially during the peak season.

Nice hotel with great facilities

Vacation to Hokkaido Toya lake,select this hotel because the ski skatig field and hot springs. There was shuttle bus waiting for us after arrived at Toya JR station. Beside hot springs and ski skate, also have swimming pool, spa, great restaurants of western and Japanese food I liked. Guest room is nice too. I greatly recommend anyone to go to Toya, choosing Windsor hotel.

Wonderful hotel in beautiful location.

We were so happy that we decided to book Windsor. Everything was excellent and first rate. Our suite was absolutely fabulous and all hotel employees were great and helpful. Food was very good just a bit of a problem with having to make reservations for dinner, it would have been nice to have a venue that didn't require reservation. Sansen was great especially the outdoor one.

Great hotel in the cloud

We only stayed one night but due to rainy weather most of the time we cannot see anything outside the windows of the entire hotel, except heavy fog. This hotel is a true 5 star and has plenty of great restaurants including 3 Michelin starred restaurants, with 1, 2 and 3 stars, respectively. Food there is \"Michelin\" expensive but if you have the full view (without any fog), it's not unreasonable to try them out.

Hotel room and facilities are up to 5 star level, but the on-site onsen is OK and not on par with other traditional Japanese hotels.

The outside natural environment is very large, good for general relaxation, exercising, biking and golfing.

Premium hotel but with no hospitality

We have booked 7 rooms at this hotel, for 13 persons for one night. Fully understood that reservation is needed for all the Michelin starred restaurants. However, for the other 3-4 standard cafe/restaurants within the hotel, I would expect walk-in should be alright as no reservation is being mentioned on the website. We checked-in around 6pm but was told that only room-service was available. Given there's no choice and we didn't want to make all the trouble to drive to the town during heavy snow night, we picked room-service. Since we wanted to have dinner together in a big group, we make a request, if there's any bigger room available or if we can use the lobby cafe, which was closed with empty chairs at that moment. Unfortunately, they can't accommodate such a minor request after rounds of discussion and negotiation. Finally, we gave up and just squeezed the big group into one room for having dinner together. This was not the end of the story. When we checked out, there were bell boys at the lobby but they won't help you load the luggages into the car. They just standing there watching you to do it yourself. What an experience!!!

Everything was good except that the location is quite far away from lake toya. The hotel provides shuttle service to and from jr toya and lake toya. Hence, please check the timing and make reservations with the hotel. Because of the distance, we can hardly see the fireworks display from our room. Special thanks to Ms Noriko for attending to our queries so quickly and helping to make arrangements for us to visit the lake. Thank you very very very much for your efforts! ;))

Beautiful location but lack of maintenance.

Hotel staff except at western breakfast were excellent. The room had a beautiful view of the lake Toya but our picture window was somewhat fogged up (lost vacuum between glass panels) so was a disappointment. Breakfast was also a disappointment. Need more maintenance here and there.

Horrible & clueless staff! Great everything else.

Most staff were poorly trained for such a expensive hotel. Actually they were poorly trained for Japan in general. I've been to fast food restaurants where they treated customers better. Very rude. Never smiled. Sometimes looked outright annoyed when we asked questions. No one picked up when we called reception from the room (we tried multiple times). We had to get our own welcome drinks because the server didn't see us, although we were waiting to go to our room for +20min and there weren't that many people.... At dinner they ignore us when we asked someone to come over because they forget an item in my bfs kaiseki set.

Overall the staff made the experience unpleasant. One of the worst I have ever experienced in Japan and I've been here for +4yrs. Honestly, stop by and visit the hotel, try the cafe, taste the foods, see the views, but do not stay here and deal with the staff it could literally ruin the experience.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and were impressed by the first-rate service of the hotel staff. An excellent place to enjoy Hokkaido. Great privacy and stunning view! The free valet parking service and room serviced breakfast arrangement are beyond our expectations. The two Michelin restaurants there are simply superb.

Great service with spacious quiet rooms. Whole hotel and room is dated though. Good for golfers as there gold course on site. Lake view is not as spectacular as its too far away to feel the visual effects. Takes 25 mins driving to get to lake town. For the money I will prefer to stay at lake side in future..it's much easier to just stroll out and enjoy the lake and its restaurants , parks, boat rides etc

Only stayed for a day in this hotel. The view from the hotel room is really beautiful. Staff are helpful and friendly, however I don't get the reservation system for the meals/restaurants in this hotel. As this hotel is kind of \"isolated\", you will probably have your dinner in one of their restaurants. When we arrived, we were told to make a choice which restaurant we would like to make a booking for (without being able to look at any sort of menus/prices) and they told us that it would be impossible to just walk in to any restaurant because the restaurants are fully booked/busy. It was almost impossible to find a restaurant that was available to me and my family because every restaurant was fully booked. Throughout our dinner, the restaurant did not seem fully booked to me(there were only three other tables, and the restaurant was huge). The food was a disappointment and the price you had to pay for the food did not match the quality. Good for a once off experience, but will not come back again

Nice ski resort hotel at the mountain top

It has great views of the lake Toya and Pacific Ocean at the mountain top. Food selections aren't so great. All restaurants are by reservations and we couldn't get the restaurant that we wanted, ended up with a Soba noodles place that's a bit pricey for the food we got. The bath place is really cold on the way and a bit small. The distance is a bit far, and good for ski and light walking, but there isn't much else. The facilities are nicely maintained and clean.

レストランも朝食(ビュッフェ)もとても美味しかった！
温泉に行く時に部屋のバスローブとスリッパで行っても良いと言う指示だが、エレベーターなど移動の際、普通の服装のお客さんとすれ違ったりするととても気まずい感じになる。何故、せっかく部屋にある浴衣で移動してはいけないのか？日本人なら多分大半がそう感じていると思うので、温泉への移動は浴衣にした方がいいと思う。
ホテル内にコンビニがないので、できればあった方が良いと思う。

　洞爺湖を見下ろす最高のロケーションで、サービスも細部にまで行き届いていて文句のつけようがない、超一流のホテルです。強いて不満な点をあげるとすれば、2つある大浴場のうち片方にしか露天風呂がないということでしょうか。

A ripp off!

The only thing that makes this hotel 5 stars is the high prices. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed in the service. The hotel is old and urgently needs renovation. It seems as if the last bit of money is being squeezed out of the old box. The owners obviously only think about maximizing profits and have no passion for the customer. In short, there is obviously a lack of staff.

When we wanted to check in 2 minutes before 3 p.m., the room was not ready. We had to wait. We used this time to visit the toilet next to the reception, which was unhygienic and smelled bad. Next to the toilet bowl, there was paper with a used toothbrush on the floor. The toilet seat had urine stains. There was obviously not enough staff to fix this. When we then went to the room, we saw the cleaning crew running around on our floor. We felt so sorry for the ladies working under such stress. Now we knew why our room was ready too late. There is simply not enough staff. Such a stressful atmosphere does not belong in a 5-star hotel.

The management should show more respect for its employees and customers and improve this untenable situation immediately.

The breakfast was very modest and the plates were not cleared. The quality of the food has nothing to do with what we paid for. Terrible!

When we checked out, we were presented with a bill for almost 4 USD (600 yen) bathing fee, even though we did not bathe in this hotel for hygiene reasons. Such a ridiculous amount should be included.
