Location is great (cannot be better), but hotel is tired (dirty carpet etc). Up to EUR 100 per night it makes sense, but we paid EUR 179, which is too much for what they offer.

The exterior and lobby area of the hotel was lovely giving it an appearance of luxury. However once you exit the elevators and on your floor, the disrepair shows very quickly. The carpets were dirty and stained. The walls chipped. The room was very little, and for the most part clean but aged. The window looked over the roofs of neighbouring buildings and all the piping for ventilation etc. the bathroom was very small and you had to sit sideways on the toilet or your knees would hit the shower wall. The shower however was wonderful and hot!

This hotel is very outdated. The floor in our room was sagging and the carpets everywhere were dirty and stained. The photos on hotel’s website are very deceiving. The bathroom in our room was not even close to the photos. The shower floor was cracked, the water didn’t drain properly and the floor looked dirty because it’s so stained. We would not stay here again. I wish I read the reviews on Google and not on Expedia.

Amazing hotel in the centre of Haarlem. Stayed here 3 nights whilst doing a bike tour around Holland and this was a beautiful place to use as a base for a few days. The room and wet room were huge and we had a lovely view of St Bavo’s church. Just perfect! Also had to stay an extra night and luckily our room was still vacant!😊

Excellent central location in the heart of the old marketplace. Easy 15 minute walk to the train station which was better than taking a taxi due to mainly pedestrian traffic location. Walkable to many shops, restaurants, bars and city sites. Very friendly and helpful staff with easy check-in and out.
Improvements - shower is almost on top of toilet with small glass wall separating them - glass wall should be longer as floor around toilet also gets wet and slippery. A small fridge would be nice too. Both of these maybe due to old nature of building.

My friend and I chose to stay in Haarlem. It was easy to get to Amsterdam for sightseeing. The hotel in Haarlem was undergoing some new paint but you would hardly know the workers were there. The front desk staff was great (Rolph) and the location could not have been better. Overall it was a great experience that I would repeat.

I enjoyed my visit tremendously. The woman who helped me check in was very kind and recommended places to go. The other front desk person Rolf was very kind and accommodating. The restaurant is centrally located to everything I wanted to see and do. The restaurant in the hotel called the Governor was absolutely fantastic. My server was Jorine and she was so kind. She gave me the best dining experience so a big thank you to her.

This hotel is conveniently located, but very dated and our room was dirty, as were the hallways, where the carpet was stained. Our room was infested with tiny ants, too. There is no AC, and they did provide fans, but they worked intermittently. We were placed in a room facing the church, and since we had to have the windows open, we heard people partying all night. Cigarette smoke wafted into our room, and the church bells rang on the hour. Also, please note that though there is an elevator, accessing the rooms requires several flights of stairs, which was difficult with our luggage. The staff were very kind and helpful and the restaurant and lobby look very nice, which is why we were surprised at the poor quality of the room.

According to a very rude receptionist none of the family rooms can be reached by elevator alone. All require the guests to climb 12 to 20 steep and narrow steps. I am 70. That was not really a great option. Both rooms had dirty carpet and worn furniture. There is no ac. The hotel is in near everything you need for your stay! The only downside for us is that our van couldn’t get closer for drop off and we had many suitcases as we are relocating. Nothing the hotel can do about that, just be aware if you are coming with a lot of luggage. The staff is wonderful-will definitely come back!

This hotel is situated right in the heart of the beautiful town square, in the shadow of the stunning St Bavo's church. I have stayed in this area a few times, and thought it might be a little noisy with the market on, but it was so quiet and comfortable inside. The hotel itself is very nice, and the Christmas decorations were so pretty. The market stalls were right outside the hotel and all around the town. Haarlem is beautiful all year round, and I would definitely stay in the Ambassador again.

This hotel has a excellent location. When we entered the hotel my wife asked how much we were paying to stay because the area and lobby was excellent. Once we entered our room she said some other things. There was a stain on the carpet just as we entered the room that made us look at the carpet more closely and we think that they should have replaced it already. The walls had marks all over and the curtains were dirty.The room had a nice size, shower was nice if you like drying the entire bathroom floor after using it. It was almost completely open to the rest of the bathroom. Our room had a vent pipe beside it and we listened to the air flow when ever it was quiet in the room. Fantastic location!

We didn't sleep on Saturday night, the hotel management had decided to allow for a private disco party next to our room. It was ridiculous, loud and with screaming and drinking party goers next to our room and windows. the hotel staff member with the night shift apologized and tried to find us another room at midnight, but by then we were too exhausted to move rooms. Staff said they would get back to us about the problem the next day, but they never did.
