The staff were friendly and the rooms clean. We had a triple room which was two single beds and a futon. The futon was so uncomfortable with two metal bars across it. Breakfast was not included in the room so you had to pick off a menu and pay for each item separately so was expensive. Also no alternative to sourdough bread which was very hard. Overall the stay was OK but I would not return.

This was a lovely property to stay for a visit to the Christmas event to Blenheim Palace. Parking was on the street pottage which you can pay via Ringo. Unfortunately it was for a limited time and so you can't pay to leave it there all day. Nice breakfast, included in the price. Room was large, beds really comfortable and very quiet. Would stay again.

Booked one night as eaten here previously. Property clean but corridor smelt like a hospital and room smelt musty. Limited breakfast choice (for a cafe) with only 2 cereals available-your choice is brought to you. English breakfast served with scraps of bacon not even a full rasher. This was remedied when we complained. Toast is included on plate of hot food, no extra offered even though preserves on the table. Asked for extra hot water as I like weak tea. This didn't arrive so had to go to counter to ask for it. It was given to me in a jug not a teapot. Think waitress had forgotten as she was chatting to another member of staff. Disappointing

I stayed here on my own after an all day work gathering, whilst there are excellent eateries around, I took some food back to my room because it is so nice and homely after a full day out. The decor and furnishings are absolutely beautiful and made my stay very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent and the staff very friendly and pleasant.

A quaint property with all of the modern conveniences tucked inside. Staff were pleasant, and the town of Woodstock has a lot to offer. Parking is tight in Woodstock, either max 30 min or 4 hrs from 8am to 6pm. If you have a car, plan accordingly as the property does not have private parking. Overall, a wonderful stay.

A perfectly nice room although we felt it needed more light in half of it. Bathroom was clean and good sized shower. Looked like the accommodation (above a cafe) was fairly recently renovated. On road parking out front was pay & display 8am to 6pm but we were requested to check in by 5. Machine able to take charge for next morning the night before. Breakfast was in cafe below and perfectly adequate.

Great location, close to the Palace, pubs and restaurants. A really nice breakfast included in our price. Nice view out of our room of the town square.

However, the bed was one of the worst I have ever slept on. Very rickety frame and clearly a very cheap mattress. Also, I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a noisier room, it sounded like the people in the room above us were going to come through the ceiling, and as people walked up and down the hall it felt as loud as if they were in our room. Overall a nice B&B, but wouldn’t have wanted to stay longer than a night as had a terrible sleep.

A lovely place to stay but let down by poor breakfast in terms of quality and service. Bacon, sausage and hash brown all over cooked, no offer of white or brown bread for toast and served on a cold plate. Staff at breakfast clearly not bothered about us. Walked past repeatedly without asking if everything was ok. Cook literally dropped plates in front of us and seemed to not want to be there! No offer of cereals, although listed on the breakfast menu. A real shame, as the breakfast experience is just as important and the room to me.

I've stayed here before and enjoyed the experience - but something wasn't right this time.
My room wasn't cleaned and towels weren't changed. This did improve when the housekeeper returned from holiday.
The service wasn't good -I asked if I could have a coffee refill - the waiter said he had to 'get the girl' -there was a very audible ;she will have to wait ' before the refill was eventually brought.
On arrival the lady who was asked to take payment didn't know to work the card machine - I was then made to feel guilty that I could pay . The manager came to my room later when i was about to get in the shower and refused to go away until I paid. (Which I did wrapped in a towel !).

All in all it was a bit Faulty Towers !

Perfect Location for visiting Blenheim Palace

We stayed at the Blenheim Buttery the night before we visited Blenheim Palace. It was the perfect location. Room was comfortable with all required amenities. Service was good and breakfast was lovely. If we returned to the area we'd definitely stay here again.

I booked a triple superior room, but got 2 single beds.. the third was a foldaway camper bed 🙁. When I arrived in the room the camper bed had not been made up and was missing some of the attachment springs. I’ve got to say however that when I complained to the housekeeper quickly brought up another mattress making the bed more comfortable, although I had to make the bed myself. I’ve got to say however, friends also staying at the hotel loved their room. Breakfasts were delicious despite the service being quite poor (understaffed and inexperienced). For the price we paid, I would still return for a stay.

A great little B&B, friendly service and decent accommodation. Gets really busy after 9am so get to breakfast early. Parking is a bit of a nightmare in Woodstock but that’s not the venue’s fault, just be prepared to take some time to find a space.

What a lovely Town! The Blenheim Buttery is conveniently located for lots of lovely Pubs and Restaurants, spoilt for choice!
When we arrived we parked in the local car park, 5 minute walk away, but then moved our car at 6pm to on-street parking right outside of the accommodation, all free.
The room was spacious and well equipped and there was a good breakfast selection.
Would definitely stay again

The mattress in room 5 had no support, it was ridiculously soft and we both have terrible back ache. The bed is really no 1 priority as a bad nights sleep ( 2 in our case) ruins everything. The other issue was the shower which was not supported properly on the wall so you had to have a hand held shower. We told them about the shower but heard nothing more. It’s a shame these points let them down as the linen was good and the bathroom was good and clean too.

Check in is strange, there was no sign where to check in and it is in the tea rooms. The staff are busy serving tables and we had to wait while they served 2 tables with food and drink before being attended too. Staff were however very pleasant and breakfast was good.

On day 2 we got biscuits and water by the tea tray, there were none when we checked in on day 1 ( 29th December) oddly

We had a really lovely stay at the Blenheim Buttery. It was ideally located for our visit to Blenheim Palace. I had a change of plans at the last minute and my daughter came with me and we were offered to change rooms to a twin. It all worked out well for us and I thought it was good of our hostess to suggest it.
The breakfast was in the cafe below and was excellent.

There were apparently problems with the WiFi, it was intermittent in some areas. But the reception did not stretch to the rear bedrooms.
Very good cooked breakfast, but the advertised continental breakfast is not available.
Very helpful staff.
The access to the bedrooms is not suitable for guests who might have difficulty with outdoor steps.

Ideal Accommodation when visiting Blenheim Palace

I would 100% recommend The buttery.
I think there are 4 rooms - we were located in room 3 not a large room but has everything that you require - tea, coffee, complimentary water, very clean and numerous plug sockets which can be an oversight in a lot of accommodation.
We were created by Laura. She gave us lots of info on the area, parking and the room. All the people we came into contact with were smiley and helpful.
It’s located is excellent for Blenheim Palace 5 min walk (we were visiting the flower show). Breakfast was included and was excellent.
I would thorough recommend The Buttery and would stay again.

We were greeted by Yvonne who showed us to the room and explained to us about the parking in Woodstock.Nothing was too much trouble, the room was good and very clean . and had WiFi and Tv. Comfortable bed and the Breakfast was good. All in all we were very satisfied with the stay and would not hesitate to stay again.

Historically beautiful building . Our room #6 was in the attic with original beamed ceilings. Modern bathroom with extremely comfortable beds. Location is perfect - situated on the main road within the Village of Woodstock . Blenheim palace is a short walk . A full English breakfast is included in the price of your stay. Excellent value for money. Would highly recommend this delightful bed and breakfast.

In the Center of Woodstock next to all the pubs and restaurants we had room 2 it’s small but quite at night the rooms are above a restaurant the staff were all lovely the palace and park are just 2 minutes walk away we took the bus into Oxford it runs every 15mins it cost £5pp return and took around 25mins each way

Lovely trip to Woodstock to see the Christmas lights and market at Blenheim Palace. Absolutely magical!
Could walk to the palace from the guesthouse so location was excellent. . Parking was a bit difficult there but we were lucky and got a space outside the guesthouse.
Bed was comfortable, breakfast really good. Only citicism ( no fault of Blenheim buttery) is that its very noisy during the night with cars constantly dropping off and picking up from the nearby hotel. If you're a heavy sleeper or have earplugs then it won't be a problem. Otherwise I would request a room away from the front of the guesthouse.
Would definitely visit again.

We had Room 5 and were kept awake by the people bumping about in the room above us. This wasn't appreciated, especially at 6am. We found our room noisy, generally, as it was on the front of the property and we could hear people talking in the street below. We didn't find the bed terribly comfortable either and the room would benefit from a full length mirror.

A delightful little B&B in the heart of Woodstock.
Lovely staff, the lady that checked us in was so welcoming and helpful, she gave us detailed indications of where to park.
Cosy bedroom with en suite was right for us, clean, spacious, comfortable bed and provided everything we needed, including coffee/tea making facilities, bottled water and toiletries. We loved the fact that it was a very old building featured with wooden beams.
Good traditional English breakfast plus continental choices.
Overall great value for money, we wouldn't doubt to book it again if we were going to the area.

Easy check in & out, the staff where very helpful and happy, a great full English breakfast is available and many other choices to chose. We had a memorable stay. The room was cute but comfortable. The bed was really comfortable. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was a pretty standard English breakfast but really well done. We woke up in the morning, opened the curtains and there was a market in full flight right in front of us .......a real bonus.

Overall a great little place to stay

A lovely little place to stay in the heart of Woodstock, just a few minutes walk from the gates of Blenheim Palace which means no driving, parking, buses etc. The bedroom and en-suite were spacious, the shower was powerful and hot and the beds comfy. It was a little rough round the edges with the general upkeep but we would still be happy to book it again if we were going to the area. Lovely people, really welcoming and it was great having the tea-room/cafe to pop into on arrival and grab a cuppa and a sandwich and cake. The full English breakfast was really good. As long as you take this as a rustic little B&B and not a squeaky clean hotel then you won't be disappointed.

Disappointing stay

Let’s start with positives: the hotel is in the heart of Woodstock, and about 10 minutes’ walk from Blenheim palace.
The full English breakfast was good and didn’t lack in quantity.
Unfortunately, we had an issue with our room: the heating rail in the small bathroom was set to maximum heat, and made the bathroom and bedroom unbearably hot. It was stuck and couldn’t be turned down. We called the 2 24-hour numbers for help (there is no staff on site overnight), and only got voicemails. No one got back to us. When we mentioned the problem at checkout the next day, the staff just denied there was an issue, until we went back to the room to show what the problem was. And then they said a previous guest must have jammed the heater! I thought that was really poor customer service all round.

Excellent location for Blenheim Palace

We had been in touch with the property prior to arriving as our luggage was due to be dropped off by the airlines due to flight issues from JFK to LHR. They were very very helpful with that issue. We arrived at approximately 5pm. We checked in and were shown to our room. You go out of the main building and then up a flight of external stairs to the rooms. Our room was very functional, but the ensuite was very tiny, one person only. The bed was great and it was very nice that we could open up the windows as needed. There were plenty of outlets and bottled water and a kettle to make tea. There was a TV, but we did not use it. There were plenty of restaurants in walking distance and Blenheim Palace was within walking distance if you choose. Breakfast the next morning was perfect. There were options for fruit, juices, yogurt, and also a cooked to order breakfast. Plenty of tea or coffee and service was great. I would recommend staying here overnight especially when visiting the Palace.

Should not be rated a four star!

Hotel should not be rated more than a three star. Room needs painting, rug needs cleaning and furniture needs updating.
No one around after six pm when they close the restaurant if you needed any help or directions.
Breakfast was very good however and hotel is in a very good location.

Blenheim Buttery disaster.

Blenheim Buttery is not a hotel as portrayed but it is in my opinion a poor B&B .Rooms are situated at the rear of a cafe in Woodstock across a yard and up a concrete flight of steps. On entry to the hallway their was an unpleasant smell and the carpets were not that clean and the room was much the same and very small with little comfort .We were given the key and directed to the rear of the building but after seeing the accommodation decided we did not want to stay. The staff by then had left as the cafe frontage closes at 5-30 pm and no one was on duty until the following morning so we posted the keys through the letterbox of the cafe and left for home which ruined our two day visit to Blenheim Palace.

Woodstock Delight

Not wishing to run the accommodation down at all the perspective is that it's a Cafe with 6 rooms adjoining it. The room was well furnished . Comfortable in all respects. Bedside tables and lamps were dusty but all good in all other respects. The breakfasts are delightful- English cooked and continental .
