Booked our hotel and the posting said underground tunnel to the waterpark we went to Wisconsin in December when it was 8° and the hotel room we got was not even attached to the main building so it’s not very beneficial to take toddlers and 8° weather in your car after they’ve been to a waterpark

Also, it snowed while we were there and in three days, nobody bothered to clear the walkways or the sidewalks outside the room. They simply threw salt down. Just hoping it would melt. All I did was make everything slushy.

For how much you pay to be here, you would think they would take a little bit more pride in their appearance of their hotel and their name.

Our room had several minor annoyances (no fitted sheets on either bed, an untucked flat sheet was used in place), *none* of the knee-height outlets in the room worked which mean that none of the floor lamps worked. The hair dryer, in-room coffee maker and pull out couch were all that lowest-level-quality-while-still-being- there standard. More concerning was the couple security concerns we had - our deadbolt did not work (my husband was able to muscle it into place after several minutes of trying) and the secondary exterior doors to the hotel didn't lock at night (as is usually typical for other hotels). The water park was fine, but the entire establishment was fairly dated. I wouldn't tell you to cancel a visit if you'd already booked it, but if you asked for my recommendation for the Dells, I wouldn't say 'go to Chula Vista!'. We chose it because it was pet friendly, but the $40 a night fee makes it equally as expensive as a kennel.

This resort is just outside of the busy part of the Dells, only 10 minutes. Situated along the river, with its own water park and golf course, it's a great location. It also is the only larger resort to allow dogs, which was a big need for us. This is the second time we stayed here.

oh wow where to start upon arriving everything went well as for check in , however i got a loft room 7419 the sofa was broken on the arm rest went to take a shower u only got either very cold water or very hot water then i turn on the oven and cockroaches came out of the oven this is all going on at 1030 at night n all the night manager did
( Alex ) was change my room at time my party of 8 had to change my room , there where roaches even inside the dish water , he didnt want to return my money or least give me a discount very disappointed with Chula Vista first it was supposed to be charged 861 when i get to the hotel they charged me 964 please be aware dont stay here

Was great to start but slowly go aggravating the more we stayed. The beds first off they do not use fitted sheets. They use a mattress protector that never gets washed and covers it with a regular sheet. Naturally the sheets slide off so you are just laying in peoples filth. My second big complaint is they nickel and dime you for everything. For us paying almost $250 a night during the holiday weekend, I would expect more to be included for the rate. Everything including your checkout time is extra. The restaurants are hospital quality but they charge 3x more than what they are worth. The staff was 50-50. Had some really nice helpful people and I got some really rude people. The water park was decent I’m disappointed there wasn’t like a swimming pool anywhere. It is all waterslides which isn’t my thing. They have no toiletries besides some communal soap. Next time I come to the dells I’ll probably stay elsewhere. We paid the higher price hoping to get a better experience but with literally nothing included, everything became so expensive and this place is not worth the price they charged.

The included amenities, accessible bar b que grill and accessories are greatly appreciated. Convenient access to appliances are also great. This is my first time staying in a resort that has no housekeeping. When inquired on housekeeping, the assumed environmental staff employee laughed at my question. I explained to her I was asking a legitimate question due to my past experiences. I inquired why she laughed and she said, “because beds are not done here, but if you want your linen changed I have it here”.

The hotel was clean and the condo was nice. We had 7 people staying and we needed more towels and a blanket. We called the front desk to request more on our first night and were told someone wohld bring them up. Over 3 hours later we called again and were told the same thing. Finally, we went to the front desk and initially were told they were out of towels, but eventually we got what we needed. Do not call if you need anything... your best bet is to walk to the main desk and ask in person.
Another frustration we had was that several of the slides both inside and outside were closed. Not sure if this was due to staffing, but this went on the whole weekend. Paying well over a thousand dollars for the stay should include attractions that are advertised. Very disappointing.

We stayed here 16 years ago and again this weekend with our daughter. The place is run down with many areas of the outdoor pool in bad shape. It’s very dirty inside the hallways. Parking is ample. The outdoor jacuzzi was dirty and there was broken chairs. Our daughter loved the slides. I wish there was a pool to swim in.

I did not like that the villa had blood stains all over the villa leading up too the loft on the stairs and all over the upstairs where the bunk beds were in the villa! It looked like it was never even attempted too be cleaned we kept our shoes on at all times other than crawling in bed! Also the lay out of the resort was very inconvenient!

This hotel is great if pools make you nervous and your kids aren’t great swimmers. The only real pool is outside and it only goes to about 4 1/2 ft deep. Lots of water slides, a fun kids play area, and a lazy river that my kids loved. Only 2 1/2 ft deep and my kids swam like little seals as my husband and I floated along.
Food service/wait times were pretty long. Even without much of a line it took 10-15 to get your food.

The beds were as hard as a rock. So if you like that, you’ll sleep like a baby. I ached all over from our bed though. We stayed in the loft with multiple beds unit. Upstairs, the kids mattresses were actually way softer! We have 3 kids and with the twin over queen bunk, there was plenty of room for them. They also had their own tv which they never really watched, but it was nice to have just in case.
Housekeeping was nonexistent (for daily cleaning) as far as I could tell. I knew this in advance so I sent my husband to find the housekeeping area so he could ask for another set of towels. They were happy to do so. There was also a laundry room for guests. Our daughter spilled her juice on the ride up and her blanket needed cleaning. Grateful for that!

The kitchen had a fridge/freezer, stove/oven, toaster, and coffee maker. The coffee maker is a small 4-cup pot that takes pouches which they do provide. Not much creamer or sugar so bring what you like for your coffee.

Overall, it’s a decent experience for the price.

The condo was just okay. Not enough elevators and they squeaked and clanked. The interior was dated. Couch and chair were quite uncomfortable. It was roomy and clean though. Oh, and water pooled and froze at the back of the refrigerator.

We did love the Riverwalk, though. And Kaminski Chop House was outstanding, and the indoor water park was fine. Other than these two things, we felt the place was a bit overpriced.

The sheets were dirty and stained. The bathroom door didn’t lock/knob was broken. Our outdoor patio light didn’t work when I called the 1st night we were there to have them fix it the lady responded with “not right now our guys are busy with other things, they will get to it another day”.We were there for 4 days and never got fixed. Guest services never answered calls the last 2 days we were there we had to drive there to talk to someone since they never answered there phones. Lastly our air conditioner was so loud we could barely hear our tv unless we had the volume all the way up and then hard to sleep at night with how loud it was.

Okay stay for my family

I recently stayed at Chula Vista Resort with two other adults and three children. We booked a villa facing the golf course for a three-night stay.

The villa was okay, but it definitely needs some attention. One of the biggest issues was the spider problem—they were everywhere. It made the stay uncomfortable, especially with kids. For the price and setting, they really need to take care of pest control.

We also booked for six people, but the room came with only one roll of toilet paper to start. We had to constantly call for more, which got annoying fast. You’d expect better preparation for a group that size.

On the plus side, the water park was fun. The kids had a great time, and that was definitely the highlight of the trip.

Overall, the stay was manageable, but I wouldn’t return unless the pest issues.

Our room smelled musty and like a cigarette. There were questionable marks on the walls. The patio door had a screen that was half off. The bathtub had cigarette burns on the ledge and a discolored/rusty drain cover. The A/C was loud and put a musty smell in the room when turned on. Our view of the river was gorgeous, but everytime a speed boat made a wake the pier below our building would rock and make a loud horrible screeching noise. This occured all day and night. I rented 2 rooms and both were bad. I would not recommend the hotel rooms.

My family and I love it here. This would be our 3rd time coming here. We love the condo rooms with the kitchen. We love the area. It is about 10 min from downtown Wisconsin Dells. So it is in a quiet area. The resort gets busy but somehow the sound doesn't linger so it still seems quiet in the rooms.
We love the customer service from check in to check out.

What I didn’t like was there was no clear signs for the hotel registration. Also I paid extra to have a room with a balcony. I had to clean the entire frame of the sliding door, the chairs, the light outside the screen. I had to do my best because there were bugs all over. I couldn’t hardly open and close the sliding door. Maintenance did come up and sprayed Something like WD-40.
We were told on a Wednesday night by registration that the pools closed at seven later found out the inside pool closed at nine. Luckily I was talking to a guest. The following day we thought the inside pool closed at nine and then found out that they closed at seven on a Thursday night. Very disappointed in the lack of hours for the indoor and outdoor pools. The outdoor pool is extremely small. I was surprised that the price is competitive with the other water parks, considering how much smaller this waterpark is.

In general liked staying at Chula Vista. While our room was clean, it is a bit worn out looking. There was a cup full of watery, smelly cigarette butts on the balcony along with a bit of paper trash. However, we enjoyed having the outdoor space with the beautiful view of the river. It was nice to have some pool options since the weather was hot. Just wish there was a larger outdoor pool for hanging out at. We also enjoyed the onsite golf course.

The complex is a maze, and so are the parking lots. Prepare to be lost and confused. Door needed to be slammed shut to latch; TP holder was on the floor, broken. $127 in fees after you book your room. So it isn’t a bargain—just pay extra (upfront! Not sneaky fees!) and stay where you really wanted.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Chula Vista Resort. The room was spacious and comfortable, perfectly suited for a family of 5. One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast — it was absolutely delicious with a wide variety of options to satisfy everyone.

The service stood out as well. Every staff member we interacted with was polite, friendly, and genuinely attentive, which made our stay feel that much more welcoming.

I stayed here when they first opened, 30 years ago! But the experience this time was disappointing. The customer service was slow and they didn’t even have reception at their front desk at times. Long wait to be seated for the buffet and food wasn’t that good. Too many parks, but the towels are too small to last all day. Needs some remodeling. Overall, a good hotel to start off the Dells experience and water attractions great for kids. Oh and make sure to ask for room cleaning service everyday when you arrive or they won’t provide this until you leave.

When I first check in the young lady was absolutely helpful we ask for handicap accessible room for my sister and she upgraded us to a different room she give us an early check in that worked perfectly because we had small dog. We received vouchers for breakfast. Later at night the kids wanted more blankets they brought more bedding sheets with no hassle the food in this resorts is better than anywhere else in the Dells Chula Vista you have gain a new customer.

One bathroom for 8 people. The sink was out in the common area. No privacy. I was disappointed. We were given a tour years ago, so I thought a room that sleeps 8 was on of those rooms. The water park closed at 7pm so we never got to use it. I always had the Chula Vista on places I would like to stay, but now it sank to the bottom of the list.

Loved the resort and location and amenities. Perfect for families. Started off by getting the wrong room. Showed them the receipt that showed i paid for a river view and they moved us. It was storming our first 2 days there. Loved the fact the whole resort is accessible through tunnels so we were able to walk to the indoor Waterpark without stepping outside in the storm. The indoor Waterpark was big and my girls had a blast. Our first night there there were some wild wrestling kids on our floor and they got the Waterpark shut down early and they pulled the fire alarm twice but the resort staff handled everything right away and we were able to get a peaceful night's sleep. Didn't like the fact that hours for anything aren't listed anywhere. Not a single employee seemed to know where or how to order Luigi's pizza. Just kept saying to dial the extension. But when you dial the extension it goes to a voice mail that no one checks. So needless to say we never got to eat that. The chicken strips in the snack bar were really good. Idk if Margaritas bar and cantina actually had food or not. No menus or hours listed anywhere. Overall it was a really nice place to stay. Just had a few things that were annoying.

Check in was horrible. The lady who checked me in was rude and incompetent. She was horribly rude and nasty. I had two reservations and i wanted her to cancel one and complete the other one. She was horribly confused and unwilling to cooperate. I asked to speak to a manager and she had the audacity to say why?? She is just going to say the same thing. Well, the manager did not say the same thing. She canceled the second result right away. When i finally got my room, the keys did not work!! We had to travel to the hotel side from the condo side. Once we finally got into the room, we were missing an actual bed!! An actual bed. The front desk set the tone for the whole visit.

Good: park was empty so we had the whole place to ourselves. Staff was friendly but very judgmental, ie if you don’t know the proper procedure for using a double tube.

Cons: it’s far from the dells, like 15-20 minutes to anything worth seeing. Staff seemed mostly Immigrants, had a hard time communicating with the staff due to their ESL.

Overall, you get what you pay for. Good for a quick/cheap trip for a larger group but you better just cook/stay there and not travel into town much.

Everything was great and we genuinely enjoyed our stay however, seeing the overall condition of the resort and the wear and tear in certain areas including the walls in hallways, rooms, elevators, restrooms, etc. from adults and child-age guests who have no regard or respect for the property with the extent of damages and vandalism displayed throughout, is genuinely sad and disappointing after multiple renovations since our first visit in 2009.

The balcony door did not lock. After sending the repair man who had to completely flip the lock because it was upside down you were still able to pull hard on the sliding door for it to open right up. Very unsafe. Only stayed 1 night.

A Unique Experience

My family has gone to Chula Vista for the last three years for spring break, and it has been a great experience for my young kids, which they always look forward to! This last time we had a unique experience, I do not like that our room was never cleaned for the four days that we were there. They said we could call if we needed anything, but having a clean room on vacation is part of the experience for a mom. ;) My husband and I were also woken up by the couple next door due to the very thin walls, thank God our kids didn’t wake up and hear it, but it was not a good nights sleep for us bc it seemed to never end. Maybe don’t put couples and families on the same floor or next to each other?? Last, we realized that we there were overcharged by almost $100 and the man at the front desk was not very nice or apologetic about it. If we didn’t ask for a detailed print out of what we were being charged for, we would have paid almost $100 more than we were suppose to pay. May sure to check your summary of charges at check out.

The walking path was awesome. Very nice that it was dog friendly. Hard to come by.

The bathrooms were a mess every time I was in it.

They never brought clean towels to our room or took the trash out like they said they would .

Check in was easy; the resort is older and dated; the door to the room barely stayed closed, the locks and handles are about falling off; outside doors dont lock; the windows and patio door are beat up and half falling apart, screens messed up, etc; The floor is definitely falling apart, with soft, squishy parts in the subfloor. Very loud at night with kids running above us, but generally controlled after 10pm; outside walking is very nice, it's just not very long. The underground walkway to the waterpark is nice to have, but is a distance. Would be nice if there was a regular pool and hot tub, but there isn't; as the waterpark is obviously very loud. We stayed 4 nights, were told room wouldn't be cleaned every day, but would be by Sunday (Friday-Tuesday stay) - so we had the room picked up and noone ever came. 5 people staying for 4 days and no service or towels was a little wild. The pool towel situation is a little ridiculous considering they are crappy old towels and they say they will charge you $25 if you don't return your towel card or have the towel somewhere. Waterpark area was absolutely packed on Friday and Saturday - we didn't even go in there for more than a few minutes; gift shop was closed the entire stay, which was odd considering the place was sold out for a volleyball tournament. Very expensive stay for a dated hotel. Much like all the older resorts, they want top dollar for an aging infrastructure. But, the staff were all courteous.

I received a free room upgrade due to the missed housekeeping in our room my children and I really enjoyed this resort they have ALOT to offer at an amazing price super affordable and comfortable we stayed in the villas which have full kitchen plenty of space and accommodations such as cutlery, bowls, pans etc no need to bring anything besides your clothing! We will be staying again very soon I highly recommend this resort !!!
