This was my first time staying at a JR series hotel, and JR東日本ホテルメッツ プレミア 五反田 truly left a great impression. The location is outstanding—right on top of both the JR and Metro stations—making it incredibly easy to get around Tokyo. The surrounding area feels safe, and the hotel itself is clean and well‑maintained.
I really appreciated the convenience of having daily essentials available at the reception level, including face masks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bath salts, and coffee. These small touches make a big difference for travelers.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to help. One trainee staff member (I regret not catching her name) went above and beyond to assist me with making a restaurant reservation when I was having difficulty. Her kindness and effort were truly appreciated.
The only downside is that the standard room felt a bit smaller than what the photos on the website suggested. However, overall, it was still a very comfortable stay.
I would definitely choose the JR hotel series again for future trips to Japan.

This was a fantastic hotel option for Tokyo, especially if you're interested in staying near the west side near Shinjuku and Shibuya. The room and bathroom was spacious. The hotel is connected to a mall and there are many places to eat and go shopping nearby. The hotel entrance is also connected to the JR line exit (easy if you have a stroller or luggage and need to take the elevator). Highly recommend and I will be coming back to this location for all future Tokyo travel.

Great locations for multiple subway lines. In particular very easy to get to Shinawaga, Shibuya, Harajuku and Shinjuku along the Yamamoto line as the Gotanda station is right on the first floor.

Despite the hotel being so close to the subway we did not hear any noise

Loved my stay here. Their amenities was amazing, I also did late checkout for a reasonable price. I got my room cleaned daily (per request) and it was nice and clean. I really like that they have Dyson fans and hair dryers. I like the bathing option and shower option, had the toilet separate from that area. Transportation is right downstairs, close to major areas like Shinjuku/shinbuya. Lots of great local restaurants near here! Will definitely book here again if I come back to Tokyo :)

This was the perfect stay. It’s located on the JR Yamonte line so traveling was so easy. Surprisingly quiet for being so close to the train. The hotel breakfast was delicious and convenient. This property is right in Gotanda Station and was very convenient. The staff was friendly and efficient. While the room was not large, it was well designed to provide all we needed for 3 nights in Tokyo without feeling overly cramped. The breakfast was very good and a good value. Even though this hotel is right in Gotanda Station our room was quiet and very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

There’s a Uniqlo at level 2, a don don donki nearby , IFU ramen shops, as well as many other shops . Although next to train station, you don’t hear the train. Convenient location, spacious and great condition

Located right at the Gotanda station, very convenient to reach all the major locations in Tokyo like Shibuya and Shinjuku, while avoiding the high prices in those areas. Rooms are quite spacious by Tokyo standards, and the property is relatively new so it's clean, quiet and comfortable.

This property was amazing and super convenient right by the main train station. With lots of options for food, shopping and the staff was amazing and friendly. As for the hotel it's up it was super clean and the rooms were a great size for the area with all the amenities we needed and then some. The restaurant in the hotel was very convenient with great food and ambience.

Awesome location as it is right by the gotanda station. You dont have to worry about the weather. Room is clean and we love the bathtub. You wont be able to hear the sound of trains but siren can be heard throught the day and night (its next to a police station)

Love that they offer free masks and bath salts, along with other basic amendities that you can take next to the reception on the 3rd floor. They also have a laundry room and microwave on the 8th floor.

Excellent transport inside station. Sink in bedroom - slightly weird for us. Staff are polite and helpful when we see them, can borrow ironing board and umbrellas. English of the youngest staff isn’t great when trying to borrow the ironing board, but we manage in the end. Check in and out is automatic at counter, though staff is available to help if you run into trouble. Very clean facilities and room, hotel looks new. Nowhere to comfortably sit in hotel lobby really. But good free amenities and coffee tea.

We emailed the hotel days before our stay to offer to pay to check in early as our flight was landing 7am. We received no reply. We arrived at the hotel at 10am and they would not allow us to check in even though the room hadnt been occupied the night prior. The staff was totally inflexible and could not think outside of their standard operating procedure. After being persistent all of a sudden the room WAS made available so it just shows it was available all along but the staff dont have the commercial awareness to understand this was a revenue opportunity, and an opportunity to satisfy their guests needs. The hospitality at this hotel was extemely poor on the staff's behalf. They need better training and a positive mindset instead of just sticking to the mentality of sticking strictly to their rules. The room and location was fine but this inability to sympathise with people who'd been travelling 20 hours left a bitter taste in our mouths.

Hotel can connect to both subway and JR line, very conveniently located and there's decent amount of food options nearby too. Very friendly staff who helped checkin eventhough they are using a new self service system where you interact with their touch TV and a staffmember on their ipad will talk to you through it.
They also helped store our luggage for us after we checked out, ill definitely come back to stay here again.

This was the PERFECT place to stay our first night in Tokyo. The access to the Yamanote Line can’t be beat (it’s literally ABOVE the train station), we got some quick shopping in at Uniqlo (which is on one of the floors above reception), quiet room, and we could get out and going so easily the next morning from Shinjuku.

And honestly, the toilets were such a luxury even by Japanese standards! Ha ha

Would highly recommend and stay here again!

This is my 3rd time to book this hotel. Staffs are nice and helpful. I requested for a upper floor and they will try their best to do so.
Although the room is much smaller than those previous stays, it's still clean and tidy.
However, one thing I'd like to mention. I asked the concierge for the possibility to extend my check out time, he didn't check and rejected directly or requested for a pay. I did the same before and they will try to check even though they can't help. He was so mean to me this time and made me disappointed.

Almost the perfect stay!

We had a great stay at JR East Hotel Mets Gotanda. The location was unbeatable, comfort and presentation of our room was excellent and service was wonderful. We used the Restaurant every day of our stay and that was first-class. Our only problem with our room was that the air-conditioning was centrally controlled from somewhere and was far too hot for us. Because there was no small window for fresh air to enter the room, we were very uncomfortable at times. The air purifier was showing 25 degrees whilst the air-conditioner was showing 19 degrees! Clean, modern and functional! This hotel is located right AT Gotanda Station and thus perfectly positioned as a forward base for trips around Tokyo. It's also well-maintained and clean, with a top-shelf air purifier/ionizer in the room.
The only caveat is that the passing trains are audible as a quiet whoosh. Very sensitive guests may find this noticeable.

This was a great hotel considering it's location right inside Gotanda station. We were looking for a cost-effective hotel on the JR line, and it was exactly as described.

The room was kept very clean and various toiletries supplied to self select such as bath salts, full skincare regimen etc.

We also made use of the laundry self service available which was great. However would recommend an extra second drying cycle is required. This accepts suica card and coins.

Nice service. Good room. Great location, right at Gotanda station. I was on and off the JR Yamamote line a lot, using my JR pass, just a couple of stops to Shibuya, couple more to Shinjuku; the other way it’s about five stops to the monorail to the airport (JR pass works for that too) and a few more to Ginza and Tokyo Station. I did have a hard time finding the hotel entrance, wandered around the station and the surrounding block for a while, Google maps not much help in such a complicated space.

Surprisingly, despite being built directly over a busy train station, the interior of the hotel was very quiet. However, trying to find the entrance from the station was tricky. There is an unmarked entrance on 3rd floor from a department store, and an entrance on first floor which is easy to miss (subtly marked vestibule). They could use more signage.
