This place was truly a surprise. We had a number of rooms for a family event in town. Each room was unique, well appointed and interesting. Hit all of the bars - clean, comfortable beds and excellent service. The women who checked us in was professional, personable and helpful. Could not ask for anything more.

Our room, a “family room” was great! Lots of space. Bathroom is quite small though. The wine happy hour was really fun and had great drinks and snacks. It was nice to meet new people. The candy closet brought me back to being a kid. All of the staff were friendly. Great hotel! We’ll be back.

It was quaint and cozy. The lobby area by the fireplace was very inviting. The rooms were clean and spacious. The continental breakfast was varied with enough to start our day with. The building itself is just cool. The rooms are nice and very clean. It’s historical and modern with a touch of whimsy. Through the lobby are portraits of famous George’s. All the the rooms have names and also feature portraits of famous people with that name. The staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast was awesome and there was a complimentary candy bar. Overall would totally stay again if I were in that area. It is located a few minutes away from downtown so we ubered because parking is not easy.

Could use much better sound proofing. Upstairs neighbors were getting busy and left the TV on. None of that should have been audible downstairs. I had to go up at 4 in the morning and knock on their door. No staff present at checkout at 7:30 am. Definitely felt overpriced.

My wife and I loved this place and we will definitely be staying there again anytime we come back to NJ. We used to live in Bloomfield NJ but now we live in Southern California, and I had to get a place for a work trip. We stayed here one night in “Steve” and one night later we came back and stayed in “Duke,” which was our favorite of the two. Super clean, upscale, and the free wine at 5pm was a nice treat. Parking was easy, and we highly recommend this spot.

This is our second time staying at The George. We felt welcomed and safe. We LOVED it the first time so, of course, we had to make another visit. Unfortunately, this trip wasn't the same. Our bathroom smelled wet and as if it wasn't cleaned properly. Some of the towels had a brown stain and a peculiar smell.

My husband and I went to WWE Summer Slam & needed a nice hotel away from Newark! This hotel was the best- staff was so helpful and sweet and welcoming. We stayed in the Jen room and it was so comfortable, and homey!! We loved the candy closet, the library room, the gym & the breakfast service!

We booked a last minute reservation at The George due to a power outage at our home (we are local), and they were able to accommodate my family and our two dogs quickly and seamlessly. The check in was quick and easy, my teenager LOVED the candy closet on the first floor, and our room was blessedly cool and comfortable. When we had an issue with the television, the staff member instantly arrived and resolved the issue. While we didn't take advantage of the offered breakfast, we will be sure to do so next time.

What a dream! I stayed here with 3 girlfriends for a mini one-night birthday getaway and we felt so well taken care of from the moment we checked in. It’s all in the details - lovely lobby entrance with grand staircase, free access to a nostalgic snack closet and ice cream, wine hour, and the most delicious breakfast that was all included in our stay. All this plus the room itself is tastefully decorated and spacious (we stayed in the Isaac). I can’t wait to come back soon when I want to feel like I’m not in NJ anymore. Location also can’t be beat - somehow the George is tucked away in the most quiet and quaint part of town, while still being walkable to many shops and restaurants.

We are locals and stayed here after date night. It didn’t feel like a hotel at all. Felt like I was spending the night at a friend. Very warm and “homie” type feeling. Clean and plenty of parking. Just park and either walk to local restaurants or a quick Uber ride to avoid paying for parking on or around Bloomfield ave.

Lovely hotel in a town that needs more good places to stay! Staff was very friendly and I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. A few small kinks to be worked out: no hooks for robes or towels in bathroom; shallow, slow-draining sink; no bedside power plugs. But clean, nice, quiet - definitely top pick in Montclair.

The morning breakfast is top notch……a continental style buffet on steroids with only top quality pastries, vut fruit, yogurt and granola bar, cured meats and cheese etc. Highly recommend. One of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed. The room was cute and quiet — a little dim but it was okay. What set it apart was the staff. Lilly from the front desk was enigmatic — she became my best friend on my first trip I’ve ever taken solo. She is such an asset — willing to go above and beyond! Pretty average hotel, nothing fancy. When you consider the price, thats pretty disappointing. We booked this hotel because we were going on vacation and wanted something a little better than the usual hotels we’ve stayed at and this was not that. It was a more expensive price tag for a usual hotel experience. Also we found the decor choice of having celebrity photos literally everywhere in our room, a bit off-putting. Breakfast was also put out late several times during our stay, we’d go down for breakfast (at least 10 minutes after the time they said breakfast would be, mind you) and only half would be out. The staff was friendly though which we appreciated.

We stayed at The George over a weekend visit to our son and his family who live nearby. The hotel is located in a residential corner of Montclair, easy walking distance to the Montclair Art Museum, Van Vleck Gardens, and restaurants. The decor is eclectic but cohesive and charming. We had a spacious corner room that was very comfortable and inviting. The breakfast offerings are excellent. The sitting room invites lingering with its gas fireplace, comfortable seating, and games. We are likely to return in future.

Great location! Convenient to many shops and restaurants within walking distance. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and went above and beyond making our stay extra special. The continental breakfast was delicious and all the little extras at this hotel made it the perfect hotel for our stay in NJ. We will be back!
