Served its purpose

Visited Brighton over the weekend to see some friends. The room was small with a small window in the corner but it was basically just a bed for the night so nothing special was needed. Also word of warning, I booked the Brighton Hotel but was transferred to the Kings Hotel across the road

The Brighton Hotel was unavailable, due to renovations; so we were rebooked in the sister Hotel, ‘The Kings’ adjacent to the original booking & a like for like 3***.
Mostly the Staff were civil, polite & helpful.
Initially allocated Room.133, this accommodation was unacceptable, as it resembled a coverted emergency exit path; below stairs.
This was remedied by a polite lady in reception, whom accepted that the original booking had been ‘lost in translation’; from the original’Brighton Hotel reservation.
The Rooms were basic, but clean & bedding comfortable. Bathroom was clean & well kept.
I believe my second room had USB charging available?
Breakfast was Room service only, due to ‘social distancing’; but was cooked well & ample. Tea, Coffee & milk are abundantly available in the room.
The Hotel is in a Sea Front location & convenient walking distance, from entertainment and F&B.

The hotel was lovely , clean and staff were really nice , and very well organized for the one way system around the hotel , but felt there were a lot of people not sticking to the rules of the hotel with the one way , the wearing of face masks and using the hand held , but we did and we had a lovely stay .

The Brighton Hotel is currently a home less shelter. You need to take this off your books. I was rerouted to the kings hotel who luckily honoured the booking which was a very nice hotel thank you 🙏

Poor parking. Lots of fixtures very tired and in a couple of cases grubby. Looked like lipstick mouth shaped by the lift and dirty black mark on the net curtain. Room was small and basic but OK for just one night. The staff however were very good especially those in the restaurant for breakfast.

Unfortunately there was a large scaffold along the whole front of the hotel, and the room we were in was not very clean overall, windows inside and out needed cleaning
Location is great, but the hotel is pretty tired.
Breakfast was good, and the service at breakfast was friendly

Located opp beach just past the i360 tower (worth the £15 to go up to view Brighton & surrounds) - about 15-20 easy walk down West st from train stn, turn right at beachfront. Room bit dated but comfortable & clean with decent shower, they currently have scaffolding over front of hotel, but all good inside with bar & restaurant facilities. Would stay here again. Can walk to all shopping areas / centres - the Lanes area well worth a visit.

My girlfriend I came down to Brighton to take part in the Half Marathon which was taking place on Sunday 23rd February,, prior to our arrival I received an email from the hotel informing us of the scaffolding on the front of the hotel. When we arrived on Saturday we could see that the front of the hotel needed a lot of attention with bare brickwork showing. We entered the lobby , which was clean and welcoming and made our way to the front desk,, we checked in no problem and were given the roon 123 on the first floor which was at back/side of the hotel due to the scaffolding blocking all the sea views I imagine. Our room was clean and warm with the radiators on. Nicely made double bed. Tv and shower room/toilet. Which was all clean and tidy.
I was not around for the included with price of the room breakfast. My girlfriend informs me it wasn't edible. Toast not toasted, green scrambled eggs,, and not very nice looking smoked salmon. Not thinly cut,, and brown-ish,, not at all appetizing by all accounts.

I was on the top floor, very cold room had to request a heater. Had my van broken into whilst parked on the street, asked if I could park in the hotel car park the woman receptionist told me No I wasn’t allowed I even though the car park was empty, I’m working in the area for the next 7 weeks but won’t be returning here.

The property is being refurbished on the front but inside it was clean and looked good.
However my room was very small for a double and my shower sounded like a lawn mower, when switched on.

Jamie behind the front desk was excellent and showed great customer service though!!!
When I told him about my room, he quickly looked for another room for me to move into and enthusiastically offered to come up straight away to help me move over, even though he was busy on the computer and alone behind the front desk. I did not move as it was late and I was only staying there two nights.

Then after I left the hotel I realised that I had forgotten a top in the room. When I phoned the hotel to ask if it was found, Jamie answered and informed me that it was found by housekeeping. He told me that he would post it to my residential address and charge the card on file, making it painless and worry free for me.

Jamie showed great customer skills, concern and care. He's a big reason why I'll go back to the hotel again and a huge asset.

Staff deserves 5* ... whoever we dealt with was extremely polite and welcoming so please don't change it!
The room was fine but needs some modernisation. Please get rid of these carpets or change them for a new ones. You will gain some more guests for sure. Breakfast was very basic, which did not bother me but fruit salad was a bit old and didn't taste good :-(

FOR - Its in a great location right on the front with uninterrupted views of the sea from a sea view room . It was a good price as we took advantage of Pre Xmas discounted pricing . It was perfectly located for a restaurant we had booked. Comfortable bed
AGAINST - Remedial works on the front requiring scaffolding which we were pre-warned about , albeit after booking However this involved work on front masonry so we had gaps under the windows which the wind howled through on a particularly windy day & evening . Road noise was also high . Old school hotel in need of a full refurb & bedroom carpet was very marked

I must say it was really bed experience. Small room with uneven floor, badly stained old carpets, furnitures like from a dump site, bathroom with mould, broken sink and damaged, poorly working blind. Complete lack of management /conservation work. When we went to the room we could smell only bleach. Worn down place needs serious refurbishment. Staff was nice and polite at reception and in restaurant. Breakfast was decent with some choices. However this is not the place I will be thinking to return and I will not recommend to anyone. If you charge guests £100 per night you must offer much better standard. Great was only location close to sea front.

Seafront location at a reasonable price. The lift was very noisy when it reached the 4th floor and my room was right by it. I mentioned this at checkout and was told if I’d said earlier they could have moved me, so lesson learnt.

Lovely traditional hotel building, bathroom was new beds comfy and bedding clean, carpets could do with freshening up but for the price £44 with brekkie was amazing and nice cooked breakfast.
I would deffo come back good base right on seafront, not a luxury hotel but everything you need great staff helped me out in a crisis with a car incident and gave me discount gor following night stay.
Sweets on offer for kids Halloween and was offered coffee after breakfast as had a car problem to deal with.
Lovely views to sit in reception and chill out.
Will be back for summer!

Right on the seafront, I stayed overnight for business. Parking was awkward but free in side roads provided I moved by 8.30. The hotel is old with some wonky floor and some worn carpet but the room was warm, clean and very spacious. Would be nice if there was some fruit for breakfast - maybe I was too early for them to get it out?

Hotel having building work done. Bathroom dirty, bedroom floor had felt pen colouring on it. Walls scrapped and damaged, asked for a double, got a triple room, asked for bed to be made a double, never happened.
Really poor experience, shocking customer service. If this is an example of Brighton hotels, they are in trouble

Very much a budget hotel, probably wouldn't return

Very basic and much more worn and tired than the pictures suggested. Had to move car to a different car park as the spaces outside were too small for my liking, but we were not even allowed to go to our room before moving it, even though we had birthday dinner plans for just 20 minutes after so would have been out of the hotel and space in less than 10 minutes! So we had to leave our bags at reception, re-park and get an Uber to our reservation without freshening up which was disappointing, even though there were plenty of spaces in the car park I'd occupied and only asked for 15 minutes max before moving it, the answer was a resounding no. Also, breakfast isn't unlimited buffet, you can order only one dish from the menu and they're quite small. This is only supplemented by toast and cereal on the buffet bit so we left quite hungry. All-in-all, not the worst budget hotel I've stayed in but definitely wouldn't return.

Great Location at a Budget Friendly Price!

We were looking for lodging near the beach at a reasonable price for our one-night stay in Brighton, so we were happy to find this hotel. The exterior had scaffolding up although we never heard or saw any construction work during our Friday night stay. Our room was not luxurious, but it was clean, had nice bedding, etc. A tasty sit-down breakfast in a pretty, light-filled room was included. Staff were courteous and helpful. We were pleased with our stay.

Wait until the renovation is finished!!!

This hotel is under renovation and it really needs it. Unfortunately it is still in the \"Before\" stage. I have stayed in hundreds of hotel rooms and this was one of the shabbiest that I have ever seen. The carpet was horribly worn, stained and filthy. The wall paper was hanging off the front wall.

The room does not have air conditioning and only one of three front windows barely opened at all. It was so hot and stuffy that we slept very poorly. We learned too late that fans were available which might have helped but if there were fans they should have been in the room.

The outside of the hotel is covered in scaffolding so the ocean view that we paid for had to be \"appreciated\" through the network of bars and platforms of the structure and to top it off the windows were filthy.

The hotel informed us of the construction three days in advance of our stay; much too late to make a decision to change hotels in the middle of our holiday. I felt that this was deliberate and a little underhanded.

I hope the hotel will be much improved after the renovation but until then I would definitely NOT recommend staying there. I wish them the best of luck with the reno.

The lady behind reception was ok, no smile but wasn’t rude. Just didn’t seem to enjoy her job. The floor was uneven in the room. Up and down in places and was slanted too. The bed was on a slant also! So as you lay on the bed you can feel your body pulling towards the right side. The bathroom was just shocking and lighting was poor. 1 small spot light so when your in the shower it’s almost dark. Generally not a great experience there. Stayed one night and booked somewhere else for the next night

Booked as a last minute stay in Brighton.
£75 for a standard double room. (Photos of the hotel looked nice) plus an additional £18 to park
In the hotels own small car park.
Arrived and the room was right up In the attic number 423. The stair carpet was in an terrible state and didn’t
Look like it had been hoovered in months.
The Floor moved and was uneven, I felt like I was on a ship.
The room was sooo small I could not stand up at one side due to the slanted ceiling.
The window opened about 4 inches and faced onto a rusty old stair case. The adjoining room had several men in it who stood out on these stairs smoking and talking loudly through there french doors. Despite us having to sign a NO SMOKING disclaimer or a fine of £150 (we don’t smoke anyway)
Breakfast was Ok apart from I couldn’t get my fork
Into my sausage to cut it as it was that hard and the bacon disintegrated as it was so over cooked, the poached egg was like a bullet.
Sorry to say I won’t be staying here again and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it.

only one minor criticism this time, which is that the room I was in had one of \"those\" bathrooms, i.e: with the toilet crushed into a tight corner, forcing the user into an unusual position, with predictable side-effects.

We were given room 436 at the top of the hotel in the roof. A very small room, not really a double, a single bed would have fitted better. Stained carpet, dated and scruffy furniture, not of hotel quality. More like guest house standard. Sloping floor made the bed uncomfortable as you tended to roll to the right when laying down.It was also difficult to access from one side due to the lack of space and sloping roof. Door lock did not function from the inside and the spy hole in the door is too high to comfortably use unless you are over 6 feet tall! As we only stayed for three nights we put up with it. Being a hot weekend it would have been nice to be able to open the window a little more! Our room was nothing like the one pictured.

Dirty and bathroom was filthy with painted tiles flaking.
Dirty floor and Meldew all around the shower basin. Cracks around shower and shower not even in the middle so I could shower properly. Have complained about this room and I certainly will not be returning to this hotel ever again.
Breakfast was poor and cold and very average for the price they were charging over Pride season. Was normally £67 a night charging 187 just for pride. Staff were rude/ towels were not fresh and It was my worst stay in brighton ever

The hotel was certainly not worth what I paid for it. A tiny, uncles room with a broken bed and as soon as I stepped into the shower, one of the parts broke. Asked for slippers as I didn’t feel comfortable walking on the floor bare foot as were told they didn’t have any. The hotel itself was very noisy and the slightest movement made noise. Unacceptable after paying over £300 for only one night! Made a complaint at the hotel, gave them my details for them to call me today and am yet to hear anything. When telling them our concerns, their response was that their cleaning team were great and they knew the hotel needed maintenance

Fabulous staff of The Brighton Hotel

Perfect for attending our son's Masters Graduation from Sussex University. Great location. Peaceful. Comfortable, especially as over the hottest temperatures for July 2019. Very wibbley-wobbly hotel. Fabulous staff, helpful and friendly --- really make the hotel --- the real gems in the rather dated \"brown\" decor, chipped furniture establishment.

The hotel was undergoing renovation, which we did not know when we booked, so the parking was extremely limited and we had to park in a structure half a mile away. Our room was small and located through a maze of up and down staircases, not suitable for the feeble. Breakfast was so-so. The location was good with the boardwalk and the British Airways i360 needle right across the street.

Could do better!

Very dirty carpets. Stairs hadn't been hoovered for months if not years!!! Furniture in bar very worn with sticky upholstery. Most staff were however very helpful and polite. Scaffolding was a big dissapontment too. Could do much better!

Friendly check-in - room was clean.
It is a small room and it was very hot, a ceiling fan would be better.
The WC was a bit shaky, needs fixing to the wall.

The hotel is conveniently located on the seafront quite close to the centry of Brighton. It is being renovated externally and needs some updating internally, but the rooms are comfortable and the food id good. Excellent value for money

clean and tidy, but I did not realise that they allowed dogs. which is why I will not return. My room was on the 4th floor, which I did not mind but the floor was sloping which in turn made the toilet not level, so you were sitting at an angle. I believe this only happened on the 4th floor.

Small rooms very small bathroom friendly staff parking a complete nightmare couldn’t get access to hotel to book in as no room on front of hotel. Nice breakfast nice choices possibly bit over priced for what I got but probably fair for Brighton. Overall stay very pleased

Very happy with the service and staff at the hotel and the room was clean and had a sea view. I had a lovely freshly cooked breakfast. The only problem could be parking as the hotel has very minimal spaces but I had no problem parking on the road next to the hotel.
Would stay here again.

Good value for money

The hotel has a bar area at the front and the breakfast room faces the sea. Our room was clean and very large although it was a bit bare. We were only staying for 1 night so it suited us fine. The bathroom was also quite basic but functional. There was however only 1 towel in the bathroom. We were also woken up at 7am on a bank holiday Monday by constant noise from the room above. It sounded like furniture was being moved around or something similar and went on until 9.30am when we gave up trying to have a lie in and went down for breakfast. The buffet was again very basic but the cooked breakfast was great and the view out to the sea was nice. All in all a good value hotel which we would have scored much higher were it not for the huge disturbance in the morning.

This was a great location right on the seafront and just a few mins walk from the Brighton centre, where we were going to a gig. Good breakfast too. Helpful staff. I had been a bit worried after reading some bad reviews but our room was spacious with a large bathroom and really comfy beds, so we were more than happy. Some things were a bit tired but we didn't pay for a 5 star hotel. This was a perfect base for our Brighton getaway and Id definitely stay again next time i visit.

Central location, clean, competitively priced, pleasant staff and a good breakfast. Some smaller details were a little awry; tv in room at a 10 degree angle & couldn't be rectified; an unrequested further single bed was in the double room, which was unnecessary & (obviously) took up space, trade operative appeared on scaffolding outside the 3rd floor room on scaffolding at 9:30 without warning - embarrassing. But all in all the stay represented good value for money - even if a few of the finer points of hotel etiquette and service were missed.
