One night stay (room 312 with sea view). Reception staff very friendly. Great decor in hotel. Great view from room. Comfy bed. Clean. Tea/coffee makings plus bottled water (on a very wobbly table). Dressing gowns, slippers provided. Ironing board and iron in room. Good bathroom with high quality shower. However as glass screen doesn’t quite protect floor outside the shower cubicle, water has obviously penetrated flooring over time and floor was sagging, suggesting rotting of timbers below. Should have been noticed and attended to by maintenance team.
Breakfast a bit chaotic. Rush of guest towards 10am when service concluding leaving much of supplies needing replenishment and causing wait time for guests - eggs, bacon, etc. Orange juice ran low. Staff were very friendly but maybe an extra hand would have helped or them being more focused. I've had better cooked breakfasts but it was ok.
Car park at rear of hotel was handy.
Overall a very pleasurable stay - just wanted to highlight a few issues. Would come back.

Arrived Thursday 2pm. For a 2 night stay. A special weekend, celebrating my hisbands 65th Birthday.
The Radiator in room was not working. So arranged for maintenance.
Maintenance took forever so eventually were given a plug-in heater and got the air con heat to work but it was raining constantly and wanted to use the radiators to dry off outdoor wear.
24 hrs later it wasn't fixed and quite honestly, we were fed up with asking. The maintenance team always seemed to be ½ hour away, then said they though the heat in the room was good enough but that was not the point.
The Radiator should have been working, We felt like we were fighting a losing battle. We were also sent an email which was ridiculous. Grammer was awful. This was the last straw.
Eventually it was fixed after we \"let rip\" in reception.
If we could have, we would have moved to a different hotel but, we had paid in advance for the room and parking.
We left before 8am Sunday. Couldn’t wait to get away.
Totally spoilt weekend, What a waste of time & money.

The room was a bit tired and the wind kept blasting in through the top sachet which made it pretty cold without a radiator 'except the oil plug in one' the room was also really noisy throughout the night with the sound of bins clattering in the early hours.

The staff were so friendly and made the stay relaxed & happy. We were lucky enough to have a room upgrade and the sea view room was a great size and with the comfiest bed ever!
The hotel location is brilliant for ease of getting around the centre of Brighton.
Our go to Brighton hotel and already can’t wait to revisit.

We had a lovely view from our balcony .
The staff were very friendly and attentive.
Our breakfast was good very varied menu and we also had drinks in the evening in a very pleasant seating area again over looking the sea.
The hotel was quiet as it’s January but had a nice feel to it and will definitely sty again .

Staff very courteous. However...told at check in that I had been 'upgraded' from single to a double. The double was up 3 flights of stairs and was the last room at the hotel - room 356. The cold tap in the sink was no more than a dribble and the hair dryer set off the smoke alarm in 3 minutes.
My main objection is this - I booked months ago. A single male colleague was 'upgraded' to a double on first floor despite booking after me.
Why do hotels always penalize solo female customers giving them the worst, most difficult to access rooms??
It's a regular experience for me but I am still disappointed that the Mercure was no different from all the other hotels who seem to treat solo female customers like a lower class of customer. Very sad.

It was ok, reception looked stunning - great Christmas decks - but corridors to room were a bit worn down. Room ok but dripping sound on to flat roof outside window from heavy rain was really loud, even with window fully closed. One of those things due to the weather! Also a loud intermittent noise that I couldn’t work out if it was from the ‘heating unit’ or outside the room. So not the most restful night but not bad either!!

Following a terrible night in another hotel in Brighton , I booked into the Mercure at the last minute for two nights. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming from the start. The lobby feels warm and luxurious and smells lovely. When I got to my room, I realised that outside the window there was a large extractor fan making a noise that I knew would keep me awake through the night so I returned to reception and explained this. They quickly and courteously moved my room with no fuss’s. This stay was a complete contrast for the previous hotel recommended

Despite checking repeatedly that the Hotel was able to provide a Wheelchair accessible room, I was forced to leave my wheelchair in the hall which caused a great deal of pain.

Staff promised that I could have free food and drink delivered to my room to make up for the fact I was unable to use the facilities. Although I ordered food, nothing arrived. I had to order a pizza from outside.

I was also accused of damaging the lift by maintenance, they told me I had held the door open when I had not touched it. A member of staff had opened it. I will be submitting a longer report when my Support Worker is able to assist me with this.

Reception, breakfast room and bar were really well styled and presented. A lovely place to be.
However behind that the room let it down. A small room, with very small bathroom. There was little to no hot water. Running the tap in the bathroom only got tepid at best hot water. Did manage to get just about hot enough for a shower but had to run for many minutes before use.
Bedroom layout could have been better. Small room but ‘wardrobe’ intruded into space. Could have made a better effort get furniture to fit and also improve the look (plain walls).

We had a lovely stay at the Mercure Seafront hotel in Brighton. The hotel itself was lovely & in a great location. The breakfast was great too. The only slight downside was the shower wasn't the best, not very powerful. Would stay here again though, regardless.

If I’d had to stay in the room I was initially given this would be one star and I would not have stayed. Dark, dingey and overlooking a brightly lit internal corridor. Empty cups and wine bottles at the foot of the stairs outside the door. A welcome message for someone else dated the day before on the desk.Huge amount of noise coming from the event in the main room. Basically, if you are allocated a mews room, even an upgraded one, make sure it’s not on the first floor!
Flo on reception made all the difference and quickly sorted everything out for us and a new room on a higher floor. Housekeeping missed us the following day so we had to request it, which was okay, but they still didn’t make the beds which was a little disappointing as that’s part of what’s great about a hotel stay. All in all the staff make this hotel acceptable. The rooms etc could do with a similar amount of care and attention…and maybe ditch the internal corridor-facing rooms?

Room was disappointing. Radiator was really dirty in between the fins which visible and should be easy to clean. Carpet is cream which showed up a lot of stains and back of bathroom door had stains down it near the bottom which was rather unpleasant. Bed was comfy and room had enough facilities. Hotel looks a little tired with carpets and decorating on stairway and corridors. Staff all pleasant and service was good. Think it is overpriced based on the above but overall not too bad.

Ok the hotel is in a nice location on the water. Plenty of restaurants around. A lengthy walk to the pier and a shorter walk to Eye 360. However, mid August still fairly warm and No AC. Yes, no AC. Seems to be acceptable in England to have no AC in hotels but just a small fan you place on the desk to attempt to cool off your room. What else can I say, I’ve stayed at a Mercure in Nice and thought it was top notch so I selected this on based on the name.

Rooms are clean, well decorated and attractive. Coffee and tea making facilites are a welcome plus as is the bath mat for the shower! Toiletries are excellent quality and bedding cool crisp cotton making for a comfortable nights sleep. Breakfast is a hearty varied buffet to suit all tastes A fabulous stay that doesn't break the bank! Overall lobby decorations are stunning.

The hotel in Brighton boasts an excellent location, close to the seafront and vibrant city attractions, with pleasant communal areas like the stylish lounge and bar. Our 3pm check-in was delayed as one room wasn’t ready, but the staff offered a free drink in the bar while we waited. The mews rooms have a nice small outdoor space, and the rooms were comfortable and clean, making for a solid stay.

This hotel is in a good location and is right on the beach, with the Brighton i360 only a short walk away.
Some things to note. The front part of the hotel looks great but if rear is looking tired and could do with a refurbishment. I paid extra for a privilege room but again found it to be tired, unclean (e.g. black mould on the majority of the bathroom tiles) and the light switch to the bathroom was faulty.
If you are planning to use their car park, make sure you tell the hotel in advance, as you need to reserve, something that wasn’t clear when booking.
Despite all this, the front of house staff were friendly.

Extremely Disappointed – Not What You’d Expect from a Mercure Hotel

I’m honestly shocked at how poor our experience was at the Mercure Brighton. We checked in late on Thursday night around 9:45pm and were initially given a room that was absolutely not up to standard. The duvet had what looked like blood stains on it, the walls were crumbling and just lazily painted over, and the carpet was heavily stained throughout.

I went straight to the front desk to raise the issue, and while the staff did offer to move us to a “better room”, the new room was somehow worse. It had no window whatsoever, which meant it was boiling hot, with no air circulation at all. To make matters worse, we had pigeons cooing loudly throughout the night, making it near impossible to sleep.

Then, just to top it off, the fire alarm randomly went off at 1:52am, blared for a few loud rings, and then stopped abruptly with no explanation or follow-up. It felt completely disorganised and unsafe.

We paid £282 for a two-night stay, and frankly, it did not reflect the quality you’d expect for that price — especially from a hotel carrying the Mercure name. This wasn’t just a disappointing room — it was a disappointing experience from start to finish.

We left feeling frustrated, uncomfortable, and completely let down. We expected so much better. I honestly wouldn’t return, and it’s made me seriously question the standard of the Mercure brand as a whole

Staff were very accomodating. Restaurant options were great as I have dietary issues.

Lovely to be on seafront and nice decor in the main hotel.
