Mecure is old but still nice corridors creek but rooms nice. Bar and restaurant staff exceptional but not a lot of help with your cases, so be prepared for this

The hotel is fantastic. Perfect beachfront location, really lovely decor. We upgraded and our room had air con and a balcony and was lovely and quiet. If I had one issue with the room it was that the shower - which was huge so promised great things! - was a bit feeble and not that hot. It was a shame because the rooms were decorated to a really high standard as was the bathroom. Also if you have a big car (I don’t) be mindful that the garage space for parking is TINY and will require some expert manoeuvring but then Brighton isn’t really great for parking full stop so it’s good that the hotel has any parking at all. These are small details because overall the hotel was fantastic and so were the staff. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again

Every single member of staff I met here were so helpful and lovely! They clearly love their jobs and enjoy working there. The service was excellent, the bar is lovely, breakfast buffet had everything you could need. I would definitely stay here again

We had a great stay at the Mercure hotel, the staff made the stay they were all so lovely and helpful from the moment we checked in! Nothing was a problem we needed to change rooms as our aircon stopped working so they swapped us immediately.
The rate was really reasonable and parking next to hotel was fab! Would definitely return.

A lovely stay in a grand old seafront building. A little rough around the edges where the building is showing its age but not in a particularly off putting way. Stylish decor in common areas, spacious family room for 3 of us. Amenities a little older and more basic (a fan instead of aircon, open rails instead of wardrobes, slightly older carpet with a few stains etc), but all clean and functional. Lovely breakfast with a beautiful view, and kind helpful staff.

The rooms in the Mews are nice, but the water pressure is really bad. The balconies are also all connected, which leaves little privacy or ability to leave the door open in the evenings when warm.

The breakfast was okay, although the range of non-cooked food wasn't amazing.

We stayed in an inward facing family room with a double and single bed. Both beds were very comfortable and clean. The tea/coffee facilities and bottled water were nice to have. The ensuite bathroom was spacious and well appointed however the grouting needs an update as it has gone black and looks dirty.

Small room with no wardrobe or chest of drawers - just a random shelving unit with a foot long pole to hang clothes on. Ive stayed in a mercure before with small rooms, and just in case had booked a room with double and single bed so the single bed ended up with all our belongings on. £150 per night! Breakfast was also a problem. Hotel was busy and there were only 2 hot drinks machines. The set up for breakfast was too small for the number of guests staying.

We only stay for one night so it was ok however wouldn’t want to stay any longer as the double room is more like single with double bed in it. It’s so hot in the room it was difficult to sleep and although they provide a fan I found that to be quite noisy. It needs some updating as some of it is looking tired. Also windows could do with some cleaning and maybe picking up all the paper rubbish from behind the bed! Last thing the floor is really creaky it gets annoying after awhile. On the plus size the staff are really lovely especially the girls in the bar area! And the breakfast was really tasty!

A lovely welcome from the reception staff, who are all very friendly and efficient.
Good breakfast, as the bacon & sausage were superb.
The bedroom (a privilege room) was fairly small but had a balcony which would have been useful in decent weather, the bathroom is a reasonable size and nice.
The cool box doesn’t seem too efficient & our drinks weren’t particularly cold. No drawer space, which is very annoying and, to use the kettle or coffee maker, you have to put them on the floor, where the plug is ( neither had a cable long enough to reach a plug, which is pretty ridiculous).
I’m a little annoyed by the upgrade offer. I took up a £15 per night offer, but heard the reception staff offering upgrades for 10 per night, so feel a little ripped off.

Sadly disappointing stay compared to my last stay. The room was small, the floorboards were so creaky and loud. I couldn't even walk from one side of the room to the other without the loudest creaking. I was woken by a couple arguing, shouting and banging on my first morning and the second morning, I was woken by the shower spotlight fitting loudly dripping water constantly whilst the occupants above were showering. The bed was also far too hard my hips were hurting. Staff are lovely but I won't be staying again.

The lift was out of order on my second morning when I was leaving. I had four bags with me which in total were too heavy to take down four flights of stairs in one trip. (I'm 76 and was on my own). Surely, lift maintenance should take place after all guests leaving that day had left. Fortunately, after a short wait, a member of staff helped me with my luggage to the car park.

Room 407. The en suite bathroom was up four steep steps from the bedroom. The bathroom door had a self-closing device so in the wee small hours I had to fight with the door as I stumbled into the bathroom. Fortunately, I am not incontinent but I can visualise that "accidents" could happen when a guest is caught short. The disabled person's handle on the side of the stairs which should have helped was too short. Not sure if the steepness of the steps leading up to the bathroom is legal.

I parked my car in the hotel garage. I do not remember seeing a tariff for the car park on the hotel's website. It may have been there but it was definitely not obvious. The cost for two days' stay was unexpected. Because of the extra cost, I did not take meals in the hotel. Their loss.

On the good side, a pleasant maintenance employee helped to direct my car to the hotel garage. The young lady manager who helped me to get my luggage to the garage was also very nice. The temperature of the room was perfect and the bed was comfortable.

I enjoyed my stay here, especially the upgraded room. It was a lovely, well kept hotel, perhaps a little tired in places, but still cared for. We really did not like the breakfast experience, due to the fact there is no room in the breakfast room for all the guests and therefore sometimes you are asked to eat in the bar area. No problem with this, but not when you can’t fit your food on a small bar table, necessitating playing musical tables when people left their (bigger) table. If you are lucky enough to get sat in the breakfast room, then the cooked breakfast, toast and juices and hot drinks machines and cutlery were in three separate locations with hardly any room round them to manoeuvre. Some staff were so busy, they forgot to greet us with a courteous ‘good morning’ when greeting guests at the entrance to breakfast. Options are pared down to the usual choices with nothing special on for breakfast and no menu options to order. On a more positive note, the room was clean and comfortable and little extras were really appreciated.

From the moment I arrived with my 17 month old granddaughter in tow, the staff were fantastic. Very helpful right up until we left the following morning. Room was comfortable and had what we needed. Liked the dj in the bar whilst waiting for food!
Location was good.

The double bed room was basic. No plugs next to bed to charge phones. The heater worked sporadically and the light in the hallway was in all night and shone through the door. The room was made the first day but not the second. Drinks are expensive at the bar. Staff lovely and entrance is gorgeous.

There were places in the room that needed more attention to cleanliness like behind bathroom door, corner of room where tv was situated needed attention. The balcony could benefit from a jet clean. One night stay (room 312 with sea view). Reception staff very friendly. Great decor in hotel. Great view from room. Comfy bed. Clean. Tea/coffee makings plus bottled water (on a very wobbly table). Dressing gowns, slippers provided. Ironing board and iron in room. Good bathroom with high quality shower. However as glass screen doesn’t quite protect floor outside the shower cubicle, water has obviously penetrated flooring over time and floor was sagging, suggesting rotting of timbers below. Should have been noticed and attended to by maintenance team.
Breakfast a bit chaotic. Rush of guest towards 10am when service concluding leaving much of supplies needing replenishment and causing wait time for guests - eggs, bacon, etc. Orange juice ran low. Staff were very friendly but maybe an extra hand would have helped or them being more focused. I've had better cooked breakfasts but it was ok.
Car park at rear of hotel was handy.
Overall a very pleasurable stay - just wanted to highlight a few issues. Would come back.

Arrived Thursday 2pm. For a 2 night stay. A special weekend, celebrating my hisbands 65th Birthday.
The Radiator in room was not working. So arranged for maintenance.
Maintenance took forever so eventually were given a plug-in heater and got the air con heat to work but it was raining constantly and wanted to use the radiators to dry off outdoor wear.
24 hrs later it wasn't fixed and quite honestly, we were fed up with asking. The maintenance team always seemed to be ½ hour away, then said they though the heat in the room was good enough but that was not the point.
The Radiator should have been working, We felt like we were fighting a losing battle. We were also sent an email which was ridiculous. Grammer was awful. This was the last straw.
Eventually it was fixed after we "let rip" in reception.
If we could have, we would have moved to a different hotel but, we had paid in advance for the room and parking.
We left before 8am Sunday. Couldn’t wait to get away.
Totally spoilt weekend, What a waste of time & money.

Staff very courteous. However...told at check in that I had been 'upgraded' from single to a double. The double was up 3 flights of stairs and was the last room at the hotel - room 356. The cold tap in the sink was no more than a dribble and the hair dryer set off the smoke alarm in 3 minutes.
My main objection is this - I booked months ago. A single male colleague was 'upgraded' to a double on first floor despite booking after me.
Why do hotels always penalize solo female customers giving them the worst, most difficult to access rooms??
It's a regular experience for me but I am still disappointed that the Mercure was no different from all the other hotels who seem to treat solo female customers like a lower class of customer. Very sad.

It was ok, reception looked stunning - great Christmas decks - but corridors to room were a bit worn down. Room ok but dripping sound on to flat roof outside window from heavy rain was really loud, even with window fully closed. One of those things due to the weather! Also a loud intermittent noise that I couldn’t work out if it was from the ‘heating unit’ or outside the room. So not the most restful night but not bad either!!

Following a terrible night in another hotel in Brighton , I booked into the Mercure at the last minute for two nights. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming from the start. The lobby feels warm and luxurious and smells lovely. When I got to my room, I realised that outside the window there was a large extractor fan making a noise that I knew would keep me awake through the night so I returned to reception and explained this. They quickly and courteously moved my room with no fuss’s. This stay was a complete contrast for the previous hotel recommended

Despite checking repeatedly that the Hotel was able to provide a Wheelchair accessible room, I was forced to leave my wheelchair in the hall which caused a great deal of pain.

Staff promised that I could have free food and drink delivered to my room to make up for the fact I was unable to use the facilities. Although I ordered food, nothing arrived. I had to order a pizza from outside.

I was also accused of damaging the lift by maintenance, they told me I had held the door open when I had not touched it. A member of staff had opened it. I will be submitting a longer report when my Support Worker is able to assist me with this.

Reception, breakfast room and bar were really well styled and presented. A lovely place to be.
However behind that the room let it down. A small room, with very small bathroom. There was little to no hot water. Running the tap in the bathroom only got tepid at best hot water. Did manage to get just about hot enough for a shower but had to run for many minutes before use.
Bedroom layout could have been better. Small room but ‘wardrobe’ intruded into space. Could have made a better effort get furniture to fit and also improve the look (plain walls).

We had a lovely stay at the Mercure Seafront hotel in Brighton. The hotel itself was lovely & in a great location. The breakfast was great too. The only slight downside was the shower wasn't the best, not very powerful. Would stay here again though, regardless.

If I’d had to stay in the room I was initially given this would be one star and I would not have stayed. Dark, dingey and overlooking a brightly lit internal corridor. Empty cups and wine bottles at the foot of the stairs outside the door. A welcome message for someone else dated the day before on the desk.Huge amount of noise coming from the event in the main room. Basically, if you are allocated a mews room, even an upgraded one, make sure it’s not on the first floor!
Flo on reception made all the difference and quickly sorted everything out for us and a new room on a higher floor. Housekeeping missed us the following day so we had to request it, which was okay, but they still didn’t make the beds which was a little disappointing as that’s part of what’s great about a hotel stay. All in all the staff make this hotel acceptable. The rooms etc could do with a similar amount of care and attention…and maybe ditch the internal corridor-facing rooms?

Convenient hotel to visit my daughter. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Very well equipped. Tea/coffee, fans, ironing board. The room was too warm for us but two fans were provided. I didn’t notice until the morning that I could have turned the radiator down.

Staff are really lovely, nothing too much trouble and all very friendly. Had a great stay. Great location for the seafront, lovely views at breakfast!

Room was disappointing. Radiator was really dirty in between the fins which visible and should be easy to clean. Carpet is cream which showed up a lot of stains and back of bathroom door had stains down it near the bottom which was rather unpleasant. Bed was comfy and room had enough facilities. Hotel looks a little tired with carpets and decorating on stairway and corridors. Staff all pleasant and service was good. Think it is overpriced based on the above but overall not too bad.

Would definitely stay again.

Mecure Brighton - Old school charm right on the seafront. Lovley welcoming staff. Clean and spacious room. Great choice for breakfast.

Travelled for the London Brighton Bike Ride.

Nice find was 'The Hole In The Wall' nearby!
