Clarity required on no clothes in wellness area!

I booked this for a family trip to Dutch GP and Leiden being recommended as a lovely city and convenient for getting to Zandvoort but allowing a quick get away at end.

Booked hotel because of pool, sauna and wellness area. However, it was only on arrival that it was explained that outside of 08.00 to 9.30 wellness area is aux natural. That is fine but if this had been clearly stated on hotel description i would have saved money and gone elsewhere. Paid for facilities that as a family we couldn't use. Feel really disappointed, especially as room and bed was actually great.

It was as odd set up in the family room. No door on the bathroom so either you were in the shower or on the toilet! only one person in at a time. And no door to close when changing. Also no ice or vending available at all. And reception is out of the way on the 12th floor. An odd set up for a hotel BUT very convenient location right by Leiden Train station

This hotel is right next to the train station and it was very quiet, and very handy. The hotel was a bit awkward as it was associated to the wellness centre, a residential care facility and next door to the Leiden university medical centre. There were often patients in the hallway outside of our hotel room. Some were elderly, some were confused. It was a bit unusual. Staff were fine but it seemed a bit off that we had flown flown overnight on a 10 hour flight arriving at 2pm middle of the week and that our room wasn’t ready, but another room exactly the same room available and was and it would be an extra 25€. At that this point I was exhausted and paid the 25 and stumbled into bed for a rest.Room was clean and tidy, bed was very soft.

I have stayed at this hotel several times because the location is very close to the railway station and makes transportation easy, this time I was given a room that was not clean, the wall paper was loosening from the wall, I felt it was generally shabby, dirty and poorly maintained and when they are charging 160 euros for a room per night without breakfast, I don’t see this as a good deal

The hotel was very central- it was excellent for walking into Leiden.
There was no communal lounge facilities which was disappointing. The swimming pool had very limited opening hours from 8-9.30am. It was geared towards paying for the Wellness suite. This was a shame as it would have been enjoyable using it more often.

The hotel is very 3 star basic: clean, limited amenities (soap, towel, hair dryer, coffee). Lacking sufficient electrical outlets, USB/C connections.

Walls are thin (you hear every cough in corridors and neighboring rooms) and rooms are situated on floors where there are active businesses operating like physiotherapy studios. That raised for us questions about security since anyone can come up the elevator.

Want a gym, spa, or simple breakfast? Expect to pay lots of extras, diminishing the value for money.

I was aorehensive and considered cancelling because of a handful of poor reviews. I was delighted I ignored these. The swimming pool requires swimwear before 9.30. I did not go to the Spa as I was at work. The staff were very generous in their helpfulness. The hotel is very safe. Our view was wonderful. The room was ample.The hotel is just to the left of the railway station exit towards the city.
I struggle to understand any negative reviews-our experience was excellent. I'd certainly go again.

Most important to know if you want to use the pool/spa: you are REQUIRED to be nude. Except for 8AM-9:30AM, you are not allowed to wear a bathing suit, and also have to pay an additional daily 32 Euro fee. The fee is in the fine print on Expedia, but the \"nude\" part was not. Fine if you know in advance, but an unfortunate surprise if you're with kiddos whose culture is not accustomed. Other than that, on the ground floor signage was almost invisible and it looked barren and abandoned at 7pm. The door to street was broken and propped open with plywood. It took us wandering into the elevator to comprehend that reception was on the 12th floor. The room was comfortable but had stains on the carpet and window sill. Views over the city were nice, and it's quiet. Very business-y. No charm, but it's not made for that. It's a minute from the train station, but you have to walk all the way around the station to get to the main part of the city. Overall, not bad but don't let the nice pic of the spa lure you unaware.

The price was more than the value. Room was comfortable but a bit quirky. We did not like the layout of one of our rooms. We had three rooms as it was a family vacation. Reception was on 12th floor. Staff was accommodating and friendly. The kitchen had sink and refrigerator but no microwave. Extra fee for additional in room coffee pods. Wellness center is an all nude affair. The family was surprised by this but we got a good laugh. It’s not part of our custom. Again, the staff was exceptionally helpful as we were a small group that included an infant.

Nice Modern Hotel but Lacked Amenities

Stayed to take part in the Leiden Marathon.
Location is great, adjacent to the station.
Check-in was very quick, and they let us keep our luggage in the hotel before formal check-in.
Originally had a large corner room with plenty of space.

Unfortunately, the ceiling started leaking which we informed reception about. They were very polite and apologetic and offered to upgrade our room, however this was actually just a room transfer to a smaller room.
No toiletries were provided aside from basic soap and towels for cleaning in either room (no shampoo & conditioner).

The pool facilities are only available from 8-930, after which you must pay an entry fee, which was not clear.
Spa facilities were very comprehensive and clean.

Would recommend this but be aware of additional payments. Lovely stay just wish we had known about spa/room amenities beforehand.

Nothing went well at my visit to the Fletcher Hotel except the pool (only 8-9:30 free access for guest)
The room wasn’t clean properly, still rubbish from the previous guest in the bin. The soap dispenser in the shower was removed, I have to ask for some soap to shower. The fridge disconnects when you leave the room since you need to take the card with you, I thought fridges were supposed to be in ALL the time otherwise food will go bad, I asked for an extra card to leave it on, guess what the cleaner person removed so when I came back the fridge was off, a potential food poisoning opportunity. The phone in the room didn’t work so every time I have to walk to reception to complaint and ask for things. Some of the girls at reception were not useful at all.
I emailed the Fletcher hotel and chain, still waiting for a response. I think I should be entitled a refund

Our stay was adequate. The set up is a bit bizarre. The hotel is on a few floors of a business building and not terribly secure imo. There’s no lobby per se, only a reception area on the 12th floor. The room was large and the bed was comfortable, though not terribly clean (e.g., coffee stains down the wall, dingy towels that were small and didn’t smell fresh). The toilet was right next to the bed and there was only one door for the toilet and shower, meaning only one could have a door closed at a time (read: limited privacy). The room was freezing and the thermostat was meaningless—I was given a space heater to warm it (was 60 degrees in the room at one point). The breakfast was excellent as was the location—just steps from Leiden train station.

The room is great, comfortable large bed, wonderful shower, great view and good location. Service at front desk is weak, sometimes the wait times are very, very long to check in or even to ask a question. Disorganized because they also service the spa. Most staff are unfriendly and uninformed, unless you are lucky enough to get Flora.

Terrifying experience in the elevator

I was assigned to a remote area on the 11th floor, which required a long walk. However, the situation became alarming when, after midnight, around 11:00 PM, I got stuck in the hotel's elevator. When I reached the 11th floor, the elevator doors wouldn't open, and the elevator itself was immobile. I was stuck for nearly ten minutes before the elevator automatically descended to its original floor. It was a terrifying experience.

I encountered a very careless and unprofessional front desk lady. I extended my stay for an extra night and specifically requested her to update my room key to prevent it from becoming inactive. After checking, she assured me that the matter had been taken care of and there was no need to update the room key. However, when I returned to my room in the afternoon, I couldn't access it as expected. I had to walk a long way back to the front desk to have the issue resolved. Otherwise, the hotel location is good.

Dont use if not okay with Nudity

Difficult to find ...had to ask locals for directions. Dont use if your not okay with nudity...you can only use pool at set time. All other sevices chargeable and you cant wear bathing costumes. TV remote broke....phone didnt Dont work...reception located on the 12th floor not good for my hubby with limited mobilty.

House keeping staff left much to be desired, but receptionists were all great, professional and responded promptly to my complaints. House keeping staff put soiled (blood-stained) or worn out sheets on my bed. Although the sheets were pressed, it was unacceptable that they did not notice the stains on them. They also failed to clean the room , collect the trash or replace the coffee pods/coffee cups on several occasions — One house keeper in particular was rude and raised his voice when I faked for unstained pillows & duvet (the ones already in the room were badly solved). House keeping staff need done training in customer service and the basic duties of their job. Otherwise, very nice property with a terrific view of the city,

The hotel is spread across two buildings requiring us to go down by elevator walk across the building then go back up. The suite room we booked had no more furniture than a std just more floor space. I used the laundry twice twice I was given the wrong laundry and one time a shirt was lost. It was eventually returned after much protestation. The pool is.o ly accessible by hotel guests 8.30 to 9.30 am. Otherwise you need to pay a spa fee. Breakfast was vet basic and often seemed out of certain selections. The wellness center was nice but fairly crowded when we used it

Can’t pay in cash or UK debit card, rooms really strange regular room if curtains aren’t closed other rooms will look into your room, location great and it ends there! Pros: Nice hotel, friendly stuff, great location in the centre and right next to the central station. They offer really great breakfasts. Some rooms has very nice views of the city!
Minor cons: My colleague´s room has no windows that could be open, so there was no possibility of ventilation. Also a bit confusing is that the hotel is hidden inside a huge building. The big sign of Fletcher Wellness hotel is visible on this building from bigger distance only, but not in its vicinity, so it was not easy to find the hotel, or to be more specific, its reception desk (at the highest floor). There should be some sign above the doors when entering from the street.
Big con: As you can see from the pictures, the tidiness is not too good. Especially the view on the floor below the bed was disgusting.
But overall, we had a nice stay, recommended.

The room key was not activated correctly by reception, they locked us out of our room by one day.... Coffee stains on the carpet in our room.... the breakfast buffet needs revamping (Burnt bacon, too little choice, but food quality was ok) Room service did'nt clear uneaten food from main hallway near rooms for at least 24 hours..... One good pint was that the size of the rooms were decent.

The layout my be bothersome to most. I stayed on 11th Floor which was only accessable by going to the tenth floor, then going along a big corridor to anoither lift at hte end of the building, then a lift up to the next floor above..... not great for someone with mobility issues.

The bathroom sink was blocked, the hairdryer was covered in a thick layer of dust, the shower leaked over the bathroom floor and for soap we had to walk between the wall mounted container on the sink and back to the shower. I did not dare try to spa after seeing the poor condition of the bathroom. Stay in the IBIS across the street for half the price - it does not pretend to be fancy but they do clean.

The noisiest hotel ever. \"Paper-thin walls\" doesn't even begin to describe it. Earplugs will prove useless. You will hear people walking and talking from all sides and all hours. Also, one of the most impersonal hotel experiences. The building is a multi-purpose building next to the train station. The reception is on the 12th floor, next to the pool. The hotel is undestaffed so except long waiting lines. (We waited for 10 mins for a station access card only to be told they could not find one.) On the good side: the room was clean and spacious. Also, conveniently located. A good option for a one-night layover in Leiden. Otherwise, plenty of other options around within similar price range and much better service.

Look maybe my mistake but this was just a bad choice for a business hotel even if the prospect of a spa session after a hard day of discussions was appealing. Parking complexed, but fortunately guessed right. Lift system irritating - renovations are happening so understandable, but strikes me that just adds a layer of irritation on to an all ready irritating situation. The check in system obviously allows multiple keys for the same room .. apologies to the couple wanting some quiet time when I opened the door. Overall it’s a nice place with nice staff but the building, size and concept can be described as square peg in round hole. Leiden is however charming.

Horrendous - worst hotel stay ever

My stay at Fletcher wellness started okay. Though was not expecting a fee for the wellness area. Great service from the restaurant waiter. This drastically took a turn for the worse when I was woken at 3am by someone shouting and swearing outside my room. The doors have no peepholes so I opened my door to find he was specifically targeting the room opposite. I opened my door to see him staring at me angrily. He was screaming and swearing for 20-30 minutes whilst I tried to call the “24 hour reception”.

I was surprised no one came up - seems staff avoided it. I was extremely scared as I then heard him being bundled into a room down the corridor and what sounded like him being beaten up. When I opened my door again blood was pasted on the door opposite. To speak with someone I had the call the externally hotel booking line! I explained how scared I was and they said it is in hand and would send someone up to see me.

After lots of further disruption the noise died down an hour and a half later (I believe a neighbour had called the police). During this time I sent emails to reception but again no reply and no visit as promised.

On check out the receptionist said I saw your emails - why no reply?? The hotel is unsafe. No peepholes on the doors, no one available at reception, no security, no cameras - allows this to happen.

I know things can happen but why not put a note through the door to say it’s resolved, answer the phone or reply to emails. No service provision!

Many things to improve

Mijn vriendin was eerder maar mocht niet de hotel kamer in en ook niet de garage.....ik moest bellen en boos worden. Alles was al betaald......
In het restaurant kregen we verkeerde biertjes. De bediening ging in discussie.....dat is niet correct (mijn vrouw ontplofte bijna door haar houding). Klant is koning; sorrie u krijgt een nieuwe had antwoord moeten zijn. Voordat eten op tafel kwam bleek dat de bestelling niet doorgegeven was. Tijdens afrekenen stonden er drankjes op die niet van ons waren. Bediening zei; dat klopt we halen het er vanaf....half uur later met afrekenen stond het nog op de bon. Personeel houdt niet in de gaten of drankjes op zijn....moeten veel vaker langs komen.

Excellent location to the city centre and train station. Pleasant hotel, but our room was hot and stuffy. The room looked as though it was a converted office space and lacked adequate air conditioning. There was a portable air conditioning unit provided, but far too noisy to use at night, which meant that we couldn't use it for sleeping. This resulted in having poor quality sleep. Thin walls in the room also meant we could hear everything during the night. Despite it being a nice hotel, I would not recommend purely for the fact that we could hardly sleep!

Was upset that the ‘wellness’ part was separate from the hotel. There is a charge to use the facilities so shouldn’t feature so prominently on the info pages. No clothes to be worn at all in the pool from 9.30 am so my teenage son was not comfortable and as a result we did not go although it was the main reason for booking.
Climate control didn’t work well and room was very hot. It was sugggested that we open the windows to get cool.
Breakfast good and plentiful- room large and clean - no real lounge area - felt more for business people rather than a family holiday hotel. It was a ten minute walk to the more picturesque parts of leiden. Parking good

A kind of management disaster. Some parts (restaurant, gym, wifi, noise level) seemed fine, but many billing mistakes, confused reception emailing me (via Orbitz) why I no-showed (I did not), bathroom sink made from a hard-to-clean material that showed old water stains and did not drain properly, no cleaning on some days, long computer delay on check-out.

Not a good hotel. Really bad layout, only window in room faced onto an interior hallway. Amenities only available for brief period in the morning, gym closed in afternoon and very poorly kept. Despite being new, rooms not very clean, bed uncomfortable and WiFi unreliable. Complaints to staff unaddressed. Only redeeming feature is a great location in an amazing city.

Nice hotel, convenient location.

Great location for transport as 1 min from main rail station. Staff lovely! Very helpful. Nice room and clean. It is slightly longer walk if you need to be in the main town as you go round the station but only adds a few mins. I didn’t have time to try the spa and others have commented on cost after 10.30 and optional costume free swimming as issues. Cost is low (€15) and if I had time it would have be actually interesting to get in touch with my inner-naturist in a safe environment. Sadly was too busy! Gym I did use and was ok but...while goody shoe standard weights this gym has no standard weights! Just one bench and kettlebells. Does have good set of weight bags which is good. Machines ok but not enough space around the main multistation as too close to bar, a large immovabke bike and adjacent pull down. All fixed. Y changing locations slightly ...also need free weights!

Property is under renovation, very messy in lobby. Staffs are not friendly. The management is not good. We reserved a suit with breakfast and option to add extra bed, but the dining hall staff make me signed breakfast bill and check-in staff make me pay extra for add a bed.

Great location and the family room was a good size with very comfortable beds but there were no toiletries in the room and while there was air conditioning it was not possible to open the windows

Small things that add up (in a bad way)

Very spotty WiFi in the room. Gym looks shabby. You have very little control over the temperature in the room — was uncomfortably warm at night. Absolutely unresourceful front desk. Right by Leiden Centraal station but you have to walk around half a km to go to the other side (city center side).

Great for transport links being next to train and bus station, with Taxi rank nearby. Nice bar and view on top floor. Lifts are a nightmare, was difficult to get about as they were in middle of refurb and signs were misleading. Was difficult to get to my floor.
