Completely overpriced- horrible breakfast!

I booked this hotel because it said it has a spa including a sauna. This was a gift for my partner. The night was 150 euros excluding breakfast but because it was supposed to include the spa it seemed ok. When we arrived they told us that the sauna is not finished and that there’s only a pool. I had to pay 40 euros extra for breakfast which, to be honest is not very good. The tables were all dirty, nobody comes to clean then even if you ask for it. The food is not worth the price at all! I went to the reception to explain the fact that I booked the hotel only for the spa, and the woman at the reception said that I should read things better!! What type of comment is that??? I’ll never be back to this hotel... that is for sure! And I will never recommend it! They are Liers and they rip you off.

An excellent family-run hotel. Would return.

Very good hotel, traditional in style that offers excellent food options in site, including an excellent produce store. Convenient location for visiting The Hague & Leiden; only wish we’d had more time to do it. Only downside was a small bag for medication was not placed in freezer the night before our departure as specifically requested.

Overall, the hotel cannot be faulted but it is unfortunate that smokers congregate under the canopy at the entrance, notwithstanding the fact that there are 2 notices indicating that it is a non-smoking area. Thus making it unpleasant for non-smokers entering and leaving the hotel.

The Hotel is located within a \"Just off\" city congestion and lies between the cities of The Hague and Amsterdam. It is a hotel that will not disappoint you to be sure. The rooms are very comfortable and the service certainly worth noting. The ONLY problem is if you rent a car for your trip and stay at this hotel property that parking may become a huge inconvenience. It is due to the hotel property operating 3 plus restaurants that results in challenging times. As tourist, we of course arrive back at the hotel evenings, just at the time conferences and diners do as well. Otherwise, I have stayed at other Van Der Valk's hotels and they have all been wonderful experiences. Not much to worry about, rather - ENJOY !!

Another excellent visit to the hotel!

Even though our stay was only overnight we enjoyed every moment. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and each time we have had a great room and enjoyed the hotel amenities. The hotel is ideally situated to visit the local attractions, and the beach at Wassaanar a short drive away. The deli at the side of the hotel is great to buy food for picnics and gifts to take home. I look forward to my next visit!

The hotel boasts a gym, small but with several fitness machines according to the website. That unfortunately was overrated as the weights cannot really be used as elemental pieces are missing. Into gym? don't go here. I had several napkins laying about my bathroom for 7 days straight, no one picked them up. The sheets had not been changed at the frequency stated on the instructions and my lunchbox - preordered several days in advance - only was correct one out of 7 lunchboxes. The stale bread really annoyed me, especially when the reply from the kitchen was they had run out of bread. The hotel has a long way to go, before I shall return.

EXCELLENT IN EASY REACH WITH CAR OF ALL SW HOLLAND

Excellent hotel, nice big rooms very clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet good choice and kept wrell stocked through service. Had dinner in hotel each night as no other restaurants near by yiou could walk to. menu failrly extensive, good quality with VERY large portions.. Hotel ocation is at the end of town about a mile out, but on a bus route direct into town and also into The Hague, which was much easier to visit by bus tha car.

We had a previous excellent experience in this hotel so were very disappointed when the eperience this time was not as good. It was cold (overnight frost) and only very thin duvet on bed. When additional duvet/blanket requested we were told the hotel was full so there was no additional linen available! We had booked twin room, beware all beds are double (2 singles with a double mattress topper). Last visit we had been given additional sheets so could separate the beds. This time though our request for additional linen was declined so 15 year old had to share with his Mum. Not good! Sadly our room was right next to the front door which banged every time someone went in or out - not conducive with a good night's sleep. Sadly, I feel service has slipped. Reception showed no interest in our concerns (or the lady in front of us who complained about a very dusty room! ) and breakfast was somewhat disappointing compared with our previous visit. Next time we visit our family in this town I would be unlikely to return again. Shame, as it is an otherwise lovely hotel in a good location for us.

I wanted to book a twin bedded room, I had two relatives staying in one room which was fine, but they didn't want to share a double bed. Therefore I'd to pay 19 odd euro's per night on top of the room charge to have a roll away bed. We were in Holland for a relative's funeral and it would have been great for both guests to get a good nights sleep where as the one who had the roll away bed found it uncomfortable. The beds are twins with a double mattress on top! Even some married couples sleep in separate beds, would it be so hard to provide a few rooms with these?

This hotel does not offer hotel transportation like it says on the site .. it's a 90 euros trip from airport to hotel and have to pay 60 euros back .. ended up paying same for taxis then the room cost .. hotel does not reimburse you they've ayleen it up to the company used to book it .. and have to pre-order taxi back to airport had to wait an hour almost missed my flight

Great base for car touring. Spacious and relaxing.

We stayed 3 nights before flying out, after 3 weeks auto touring and skiing. Big parking lot and centrally located (Delft was especially nice-sized town). It has a bird park (great for kids) and lots of natural habitat. Not within walking to Leiden.
Close to airport. Big rooms, bathroom and balcony for easy packing for flight out.

Comfortable hotel with decent sized rooms

We chose this hotel because we knew it from living close by several years ago.
The food is good and the general ambience is quiet and it is frequented by the local middle to older age group.
It is on the 45/46 bus route that travels from Leiden Central Station to The Hague Central Station which run every 10 to 15 mins during the week and every half hour at weekends in both directions.
We like a soft bed and the beds in this hotel are nice and soft.
There was plenty of hot water and the room had a bath and separate shower.
We were automatically given 2 electronic keys when we checked in.
We stayed for 5 nights and paid separately for breakfast on one morning. Breakfast is very good, but if you don't want a lot it is not cheap. There are many places in Leiden where you can get a good breakfast. You should try the Dutch speciality 'uitsmijter' which is toast with ham and cheese and fried eggs on top - delicious!

This hotel is impressive, I just wish I had more time to check it out. It was not very busy when I was there so I got a free upgrade to a comfort room. The room was big, impeccably clean and looking very modern and stylish. Big work desk. Only slight inconvenient was that it was actually in another building on the other side of the street from the main hotel. Food at the restaurant was delicious, took them 10 minutes to notice I was at a table (they had no one assigning tables), but after that service was fast and well timed. There are lots of sports and leisure activities, Gym in the main building as well as in the adjacent building. Pity there was really not much going on near the hotel in terms of entertainment. Will definitely go back if I have to work around there again.

Van der Valk Hotels are just the best for either a short or a longer stay.They provide the guest with a fantastic service; at the \"balie\" staff was very helpful, printed out requests and were ever so friendly. Dinner a la carte a bit pricey but tasty, so no complains. Breakfast something for everybody with a great variety and with self service happy faces all around! Beautiful hotel: lobby, rooms and dining space. The absolute best breakfast we had on our 10 day trip, with anything you can think of. Very comfortable beds, high quality bedding, all amenities. Good restaurant or short 5 minute drive to shopping area with street of 6 restaurants. Went to 3 of them. go to chocolate shop in town. Only drawback was young man who checked us in kept getting our rooms mixed up, we had 3 booked. Then he insisted we put 600 Euro additional on our acct. Got it back but that was extravagant.

Great Find. 10 minutes drive from The Hague.

What a great find 10 minutes drive from The Hague. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed thoroughly. Set in a quiet urban location with more than enough free on-site parking and restaurant, but we ate out as plenty of restaurants nearby. Our room was one of their comfort rooms, and very comfortable it was too. Set in an annexe of about 30 rooms just over from the main reception, so very peaceful as no passing clients booking in/out. Bedroom was large with a very large wet room / bathroom and useful fridge and kettle for hot drinks. We could not fault staff all multi lingual and all very helpful and pleasant. Parking in Holland is expensive everywhere compared to Belgium/France so sujest using local train station just down the road. We enjoyed a drink in the bar on a couple of evenings, very pleasant after a long day out in Amsterdam and again great attentive staff. The hotel is very clean and well run we would certainly use again.

Lovely Hotel

This hotel was a delight. Our room was spacious and the bed extra large. the fixtures and fittings were just a little tired, but everything was well maintained. Did notice other rooms had been updated so suspect that this is an ongoing scheme. The food was excellent. Breakfast fresh and there was a so many choices it was difficult to choose! We had dinner at the Hotel every night and the food was very good and there were plenty of choices and a good range or prices. The house wine proved to be exceptionally good.The hotel reception and dining room were very well presented, furnished and decorated and all the staff we met were friendly and helpful. All in all a fabulous few days and I would recomment the hotel to anyone looking for a convenient place to stay and visit places like Delft, Leiden, Rotterdam and Gouda. First rate!

The stay at de Valk hotel was very niece ,Ihave stayed there before so Iwas use to the excellent service . The staff was very pleasant and obliging. On my next visit to Voorschoten .nl I will be staying again at de Valk in Voorschoten . Very niece scenery in the surrounding area I really enjoyed that, The location of the hotel is conviently located on the Veurse weg in Voorschoten with a good bus service in front of the hotel.

Great hotel

The rooms are spacious and clean, even the standard rooms have their own outside seating area. The prices are reasonable although local colleagues said the restaurant was quite pricy (not by UK standards!). The restaurant is excellent with good quality food and the breakfasts are substantial! I always stay at this hotel when I am in the area and I highly recommend it. For families, there is a farm behing the hotel with a variety of animals to see.

If you're looking for the 'real' Holland - this is it! The hotel staff are mostly local people, and the town is charming. It is very helpful to have a car as the hotel is a long walk or short bike ride to town.

Book the new section which has new, modern, art deco bathrooms with balcony's overlooking fields.

The Golden Lion comes up to expectations

This hotel is part of the de Valk chain whih started with a small restaurant in Voorschoten where this hotel is located, so in some ways this is their flagship hotel - and the service displays this. There is sometime a natural gruffness in the Dutch character, particularly when exhibiting efficienct behaviour, and this is often mistaken for unfriendliness Don't let this put you off - underneath they are a caring nation and have an innate desire to provide comfort and good service.
Try the 'uitsmijter' at the restaurant - it's not on the menu, but it's good (cheese and ham and lots of eggs on bread). The restaurant is large - it serves the surrounding community well, and (for Holland) is not too expensive. The service is good.
Don't expect free WiFi - it's not the hotels fault but the service provider (KPN) is terrible - this has been my experience throughout the Netherlands.
Our ordinary room was comfortable with easy chairs and a bathroom with a separate bath and shower, WC and washbasin, there was a coin-operated safe in the room and the beds were comfortable - I asked for an extra pillow and obtained one without any problem. The reception/restaurant area is separated from the hotel block by the entrance road to the hotel car park - there is a high level bridge and lifts either side and ramps for wheelchairs. The hotel block security is good with hotel electronic key readers at the access doors.
There is a bus stop just outside the hotel with buses to Leidschendam and The Hague CS one way and to Leiden Central Station the other way - buses run about every 15 minutes during the day. Voorschoten town centre and shops are 15 minutes walk away. Voorschoten station is 20 minutes walk away.
We flew in to Amsterdam airport, Schipol, caught a fast train to Leiden CS, changed to a slow train to Voorschoten and walked to the hotel.
Our return flight was delayed owing to bad weather and we stayed here an extra night, this was no hardship and the staff were very helpful.
We can recommend this hotel.

Excellent, convenient yet quiet location ca. 25 minutes from airport. Very friendly and intelligent staff. Voorschoten is a small town very close to Leiden (really beautiful small town where the pilgrim fathers stayed for some years).

Beds have conventional metal-spring matrasses, personally would have preferred harder non-spring futon-type matrass as in Casa 400 hotel in Amsterdam.

Ideal for exploring between the Hague and Amsterdam

The hotel is conveniently situated on the main road in Voorschoten. From outside buses run into the centre of the Hague. A short drive away is the railway station for trains to Amsterdam. The world famous spring gardens at Keukenhof are 30 minutes drive away as are Holland's best sandy beaches at Noordwijk and Katwijk. Hotel is in modern motel style consisting of two adjacent buildings although some rooms are in an annexe on the other side of the busy main road. There are two restaurants, one being gastromomic. This was the first hotel in the Van den Valk chain and the surrounding fields are home to the family's collection of exotic birds and animals. It was strange to look out and see ostrichs and kangeroos. Recommended.

Very nice hotel, with large rooms, a bathtub and free parking in the hotel area. Everything we expected from the place we wanted to stay in. You should definitely visit also local small shop which is right next to the hotel.

+ fresh towels were left in front of our door when we wanted to be not disturbed (nevertheless we would be also happy without clean towels every day)
+ balcony
+ huge parking
+ super comfortable bed
- ad hoc toiletries during our 4 day stay (but shower gel and shampoo was always there, so no big deal)
- one day we got 3 hand-towels instead of two bath-towels
Overall we enjoyed our stay very much!

Besser das Ende der Renovierung abwarten!

Im Badezimmer wurden die Duschutensilien der Vorgänger nicht weggeräumt. Eine neue Packung Papiertücher musste von der Rezeption extra geholt werden da die aufgebrauchte Packung nicht ersetzt wurde. Service beim Frühstück langsam und umständlich, Schade ums Geld.

...das Restaurant hatte leider wegen Brand Schaden geschlossen, was ich sehr schade fand, die Unterkunft war ganz wunderbar, besonders das Bett, habe tatsächlich noch nie so gut geschlafen...die Spa Einrichtung plus Pool einfach traumhaft...komme im Juli wieder

Net hotel en mooie kamer! In de kamer maakte de afzuiginstallatie een hoop herrie. Deze konden we zelf niet uitzetten helaas! Om 10 uur in de avond stond deze nog aan! Daarnaast reden er diverse vrachtwagens aan de voorkant en waren ze al vroeg bezig met werkzaamheden.

Zwembad en restaurant waren top! Minpunt bij het ontbijt was dat er geen verse jus d’orange te bestellen was. Alleen uit een pak.

Tolles Hotel, Perfekt mit Restaurant

Restaurant wegen Umbau geschlossen, daher
gibt es kein Frühstück im Hotel.
In der Nähe gibt es ein Kaffee in dem man Frühstück kann.
Es gibt aber nur eine kleine Auswahl und ist dafür zu Teuer.
Die Zimmertüren sind Laut beim schließen ( kein Dichtgummi ). An der provisorischen Rezession gibt es
einen Kaffeeautomat kostenlos und gut 👍.
Es gibt auch einen Delikatessen Supermarkt am Hotel.
Würden wiederkommen wenn Restaurant in Betrieb ist.

We choose this hotel because it was close to Keukenhof garden and close to The Hague. The rooms are spacious and clean. Only a part from the hotel is open and there is no restaurant on the site. They provide breakfast from to restaurants but we didn’t try it. 100m away you can find a very good food shop and also a coffe shop. Not very far from the hotel 1,5km you can find restaurants and bars. Overall it was a good stay .

Een verblijf met 2 gezichten

De nieuwe gebouwen en voorzieningen; wellness, kinderboerderij, supermarkt en terras zijn een aanwinst. De kamers en restaurant zijn wat oubollig. Helaas niet overnacht (brand). Opvang en opvolging was keurig, ik wens het personeel sterkte.

Sehr schönes Hotel der van der Valk -Gruppe. Am Rand einer Kleinstadt in der Nähe von Den Haag (10 Min), Rotterdam (15 Min), Amsterdam (40min). Zum Strand ca 10 Minuten. Etwas weiter, aber mit mehr Party ist Scheveningen. Hotel selber ist optisch sehr schön und mit großen Zimmer ausgestattet. Wir hatten zuerst ein Deluxe, jedoch ohne Balkon. Nach einer Nacht konnten wir am nächsten Morgen wechseln. Zimmer hatte dann allerdings keine Klimaanlage welches bei guter Lüftung und Balkontür offen aber kein Problem war. Badezimmer mit Wanne (Whirpool) und Dusche. Nespresso Kaffeemaschine auf dem Zimmer. 3x2 Kapseln welche täglich ergänzt wurden. Frühstück mit großen Buffet für 15€. Die Corona-Regeln wurden gut eingehalten. Am Einlass wurden die Regeln erklärt. Einbahnstraße am offenen Buffet. Säfte wurden bereits abgefüllt

Tolle Unterkunft für einen Kurzurlaub

Schön gelegenes Hotel mit tollem Pool. Leider wurden wir früh morgens durch einen Feuer-Fehlalarm geweckt. Aber lieber ein Fehlalarm als ein echter! Sonst alles bestens. Restaurant ist zu empfehlen.

친절하고, 무엇보다 주차가 무료라 너무 좋았습니다.
단점은 덴하그 중심부에서 차로 20분 정도 외곽이라 너무 시골 느낌이라는 것 뿐에요

그 외 방도 넓고 커피도 로비에서 맘껏 가져가 먹고 직원들도 친절해서 좋았습니다.
아! 조식도 가성비 매우 훌륭합니다. 14유로 정도였던 것 같은데 프랑스에서 먹은 38유로 조식보다 훨 낳았습니다.
