4 day stay over Xmas 25 visiting relatives. Best value hotel we could find in the area. It is close to the A44 motorway and on a fairly busy main road but the (ground floor) room was quiet and peaceful, the traffic noise not noticeable. Staff happy helpful and friendly. Everything was working, well maintained with large TV, wifi, free parking. King size bed enormous and comfortable. Good value dinner one evening. We did not use the billiards pool room or the outside terrace. Generous times for checking in/out, breakfast and on site dinner. Relaxed friendly atmosphere.

Very nice place, a bit off the beaten track. We chose it because of proximity to friends. The only drawback was the placement of electric sockets. The only ones convenient to the bed were in the middle of the headboard, making their use quite awkward.

I stayed here for one night. The location is a little out of town, although it looked easy to get to by bus and was actually a pleasant walk. The main problem with the location is that there aren't many restaurants nearby and most were closed by 8pm. The hotel does offer dinner, but bizarrely not at the weekend.

The bastion hotel is amazing. The breakfast was good and the coffee machine is available every hour for guests! The staff is super friendly and English speakers. The only problem that I had was the mattress stiffness that was so soft that I am not used to it. Strongly recommended!

I enjoyed my stay here for one night. Only a short 15 minute bus ride into Leiden Central. Breakfast and dinner here are pretty decent. They just run out of some ingredients at the end of the night. The hotel staff is a small group but they keep the hotel running very efficient.

Booked this purely for its location close to Leiden Central and family. Nothing exceptional and rooms are perfectly fine however, there was no kettle in my room, the safe was faulty and on the one day no fresh towels were provided. I reported all this but it wasn't ever fixed so a bit disappointing in service.

The hotel is a 15 Euro taxi ride from the train station with no restaurants nearby. They don't tell you that you need to take bus number 20 or 21.The rooms are over priced given how basic they are.

I have stayed at the Bastion for the past few weeks and have advance bookings for the next two weeks. My stay has been most enjoyable, with very friendly and helpful staff, the chef, Michael, is very good at his profession. I have never been dissappointed with any aspect of my stay at the Bastion, all in all, no complaints.

We needed a moderately priced hotel, with ease of access, parking and a restaurant, within a reasonable distance of the Keukenhof Gardens and Delft. The Bastion hotel fitted all these requirements. We enjoyed a very pleasant stay.

Worst hotel in the planet
I've been traveling for 20 years and this hotel just ranked #1 in my worst hotels ever. The corridor stinks, it smells to alcohol, smoke and sweat. The beds are the smallest beds of the planet, and there is no way that you open the bathroom door to let it ventilate a little bit. Service is unfriendly, it is far from Amsterdam and far from EYE institute (if you see it in their PR lists). They charge 14 euros for an old fruit, lousy coffee, no napkin, no silverware breakfast. Find something in the city, Stay away from this hole.

Great hotel for the price but one complaint
The hotel is very clean and is a great place to stay especially for the price. The room was warm (which I never find in hotels) and the bed was very comfortable. My only gripe is that it was a little far from Amsterdam, but there is a bus station very close to the hotel (so that is not all that bad). But my only real complaint was that I missed my checkout time by about 30 minutes and they charged me 30 euros for checking out late. I have never heard of a hotel charging for checking out a bit late. Most hotels I have stayed at allow you to request a late check out. I know, I know... I am not staying at a 5 star hotel, but I thought this fee was a bit excessive especially when it was only 30 minutes.

Sometimes I had to wait around 5 minutes until a member of staff actually came to the front desk after I rang the bell. This happened a few times. Internet in the rooms was rubbish. Worked for the 1st day then not at all for the following 6 days. Very annoying when I had work to do, leaving me to have to keep going down to reception area to send and receive emails.

I was really impressed with the Bastion Hotel - especially the friendliness and helpfulness of most of the staff. Stayed there 5 days. Comfy bed, good shower, ample space in the clean room, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, free wifi, and excellent breakfast each morning. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise cos I'd read an adverse comment on trip Advisor. Hotel was close to where friends live and convenient for getting to Oegstgeest where I was teaching a 5 day Angelic Reiki Master Retreat. Would definitely stay there again.

It was exactly what I needed for a low-cost trip to the Leiden area. A 10 minute bus into Leiden Centraal Station and right on the route towards the Noordwijk beaches. The room was modest but clean and comfortable.

The rooms were a little small and the location was not really close to much, limiting dinner choices and down time. Our stay was short so it was not a big deal. The hotel looked pretty new and was well mainitained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was NOT included and to me did not seem to be worth the 11Euros they charged. There was a McDonald's nearby. Wish I had known that, I could have saved some money and had (perhaps) a better cup of coffee.

The room was very clean and surprisingly quiet. I was in room 65, which is near the street and the electric gate to enter the parking lot. They did a great job at cleaning the room and the staff was always friendly and helpful.

Samme aften ventede jeg 1½ timer på mad i restauranten - her fik jeg et opvarmet kyllingespyd, pomfritter og en kedelig salat. Dagen after var der \"Græsk aften\" hvor der igen blev serveret halvfabrikata.
Rengøring var mangelfuld.
