Clean room, friendly staff! Nice self-service lounge. Only thing is that the heating did not work very well in the room. The room was a bit cold when we arrived but didn't warm up even with the heating on 24°C for more than an hour.

worth a visit and overnight stay.

Stayed here many times and always a pleasant hotel to visit. Staff friendly and efficient. Not far to walk from the nearby railway station to the hotel so super convenient for myself. Food and drinks are getting a little expensive in the hotel but I suppose you can level that comment at many other establishments either in the Netherlands or indeed elsewhere.
One comment I'd like to make is that the bedroom lighting isn't bright enough for me and when you enter the room it really is very dark and not easy therefore to find the light switch to illuminate the bedroom especially on the first time you enter the room.

Booked a Double room but its not a double it 2 single beds pushed together, Including 2 single duvets. Beds were so soft as well, and im paying the price now with a bad back. This of course is preference.

Room is large, and bathroom is really nice with a big bath.

The hallway can be quite loud so if your a light sleeper you might want to consider noise defending.

Great location, poor service

Perfect location for cycling the tulip fields and exploring outside of Amsterdam. However, the service was poor. The front desk people didn't know routes for the tulip fields (despite my confirming in advance that the hotel had this info; indeed this was the proper season for it) and didn't know if taxis were available very early in the morning. The waiters couldn't explain what cocktails were like or how they were made, what ingredients were in certain dishes, or what cheese offerings there were. I think these are basic types of things one would expect from a hotel and restaurants, particularly those that are on the pricier side as this one. But it's a great location and nice, if basic, facility. The rooms did not have slippers, robes, or laundry bags.

Amazing Hotel but breakfast lady was rude

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this Hotel.
The reception staff were very helpful and welcoming.
The decor in the hotel is amazing.
Breakfast was good.
On the first day there was a nice man making omelettes which we enjoyed.

On the second day (18th of May) there was a very rude lady making eggs. She refused to make omelettes and she treated guests like trash.

Her attitude almost ruined our lovely experience in the hotel. The managers need to speak to her to treat people better.

However staff was very friendly and caring. Apparently proper rooms with proper bathroom and toilets are available at this property, but were sold out during our stay. No shops or dining options in vicinity except for a McDonald’s 10 -15 mins walk away.

Stayed for a week and the hotel was immaculately clean including the rooms. The beds are amazing but the rooms were cold and the heating system hardly did anything. It was -5 outside so it's difficult to be too damning of the hotel but i was sleeping in a full tracksuit under the covers.

Staff were very attentaitive, the main restaurant served an amazing fish dish very reasonably priced, but its quite formal, and after working 10+ hour shifts i didnt fancy a formal dinner every night.

There is a gym advertised but its very very basic.

Great place to stay with or without kids. It is spacious, modern and very well maintained. Plenty of parking. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy access to train station, grocery store. Short scenic drive to the beach at North Sea. 35 minutes train ride to Amsterdam, 15 minutes to the airport, 20 minutes to Den Haag.

We had a minor issue with the TV, which was addressed quickly.

It's a close walk to the train station. It was very convenient to rent bikes from the hotel. We rode bikes to Keukenhof, Leiden and the coast during our visit. All trips were ~30minutes away by bike so it wasn't necessary to rent a car during our stay in Sassenheim.
Keukenhf gardens were just magnificent - never saw anything like it and the bike ride there took us through roads with tulip fields everywhere. The weather was beautiful and the timing was perfect for the blooms.

We were looking for an economical yet nice hotel having stayed many hotels including 5 stars in London
I’d rate this hotel as fantastic only if had more staff members that wanted to engage and make their guest feel comfortable would be great. Saying that we arrived v late so maybe that was the reason of only one person and we left very early as well.
If you are really tired and just want great sleep, and nice breakfast the following day. Then go ahead and book this place you’ll love it.

I left here with a great impression and I will be back. I normally locate myself near a town or city centre for business meetings but on this occasion Amsterdam was very heavily booked so I opted for the Van der Valk Sassenheim and hired a car. It’s surprisingly close to Schipol Airport and near enough to Amsterdam so that you can reach most of the city within 40 minutes. I was attending a show at the RAI which was only half an hour away.If you don’t have a car there’s a train station located within walking distance of the property.The food in the main restaurant was very good and the service excellent. I recommend the risotto from the dinner menu and the breakfast buffet will leave you spoilt for choice. I had a very minor issue with my internet connection which was handled superbly by Melanie but apart from that I have nothing negative to say. This hotel is great for the business or casual traveler. The grounds are nice, parking is free, and rooms are very spacious. There’s a casino onsite which might interest some customers.Not something that would float my boat, but it’s off to the side of the hotel so it’s not in your face either. Overall I’m happy to highly recommend the Van der Valk Sassenheim.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights five people while the temperature outside was relatively hot. The first night the aircon wasn't working so we spoke to the receptionist who told us it will be fixed in the morning. The second day the aircon was heating as they technician did something wrong instead of fixing it. The receptionist couldn't really help us as technician wasnt availble and probably no availble rooms was availble so we had to accept a heating air conditioner in a hot day.By that stay at the hotel was really misrabule and unpleasant.

We love the large room, comfortable bed, wonderful restaurant and cleanness of the whole place. We traveled for a family visit and stayed 2 nights with our son of 1,5 years old. He enjoys the large room where he can walk around without hitting himself. There are 2 comfortable chairs to relax and it is quiet in the room. Staff is friendly and helpful, also in the restaurant. Do make a reservation in the restaurant because it is a very good one and tends to fill up every evening. Indeed, the excellent food and great services justify the packed restaurant. The place is easily accessible next to the motorway, still there is no disturbance at all. We enjoyed the visit and will definitely come back.

The hotel was lovely with a choice of restaurants in the flower region which was great for us. The food in the restaurant was superb and the service second to none. I only have a couple of points. We were in a suite and there was no window to open which made the room a little stale. And on the second day our room did not look like it had been cleaned, duvet just chucked over, cushions still left where I had been sitting no water or toiletries replenished.

Very convenient for Sassenheim business park

I chose this hotel because it was very close to my meeting. I arrived late from London (around 1030pm) and the receptionist was very friendly and answered lots of questions about the locality and how I might find my destination on foot the next day. She was also knowledgeable about trains back to the airport.

The lobby of this hotel is modern; tiled floors, a piano, leather banquette chairs. The bar is also very contemporary.

The rooms are another story. I had a standard room. It was very 80s and not at all in keeping with the lobby. It was more like a motel room. That said, the (twin pushed together) bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom were spotless and the latter had a bath and shower cubicle. The shower was powerful and hot and there were plenty of toiletries and mini kits complimentary. There was a little table, plenty of lamps and power sockets and it was very spacious.

I went to the bar briefly and ordered a G&T. Generous measure, pleasant staff.

I had an excellent breakfast the next morning; a vast selection of breads, muffins, jams, cold cuts, smoked salmon, cheeses, eggs and bacon etc as well as very nice coffee despite it being from a machine (it was fresh beans though). I chose just a fresh piece of rye bread, smoked salmon, cheese and a hard boiled egg. Very nice.

I had forgotten to pack an adaptor plug and they were able to supply me with a loaner.

All in all, OK to good. Rooms let the whole thing down.

It was a little bit away from Amsterdam, but since I had a rental car, it was OK. The hotel was nice, had free internet and car parking facility. Breakfast was not included and was overpriced/overrated for 13.50 EUROS per person. In general, for a room only stay, it was good value for money for 3 adults in a room with an extra bed. In addition, it is pretty close to the Keukenhof Flower Village, which is a pretty major tourist attraction.

I had one of the older rooms. Quite spacious but no tea making facilities. Balcony with chairs outside but no way to get to them because sliding doors bolted shur! WiFi free and worked well. This isn't a bad hotel, it is what you would expect for 3 stars not 4! The front gives the illusion of a top end hotel - the rooms are average but a good size. The TV is an old one, takes up too much space and isn't comfortable to view. For some reason tea and coffee are not available in the room and we were quoted €10 for 2 cups of tea to be delivered to the room. Had one problem with the room and the staff were friendly but not pleasant.

We stayed at the Van der Valk, Sassenheim for 2 nights and we would stay there again. The hotel was very clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated just off the motorway so is easy to find but you would need a car to explore as not much to see close to the hotel. Quite close to Keukonhof, bulb fields and Lieden which were spectacular and only 20 mins from Airport/Amsterdam by road which were also very good. The casino is mainly slot machines with some roulette.
Just a few negatives, The room had a balcony, but this was shared with all of the rooms on that floor and, only overlooked a pond and the rooms opposite, so not much of a view. TV only had a couple of English speaking channels. We had breakfast 2 mornings which we thought was very expensive. We also had a bar meal 1 night which was also expensive and nothing special.

Excellent value, great breakfast buffet

We were in Sassenheim specifically to see the bulb fields in bloom, and this hotel was close to the fields on the outskirts of the town. The experience of bicycling through acres and acres of tulips, hyacinths, narcissus, and every imaginable kind of bulb was just amazing. Our visit to Keukenhof gardens will be a cherished memory - just beautiful.
The hotel was very comfortable, the staff was efficient. The breakfast buffet was good, and very good value. The hotel caters to bus tours, so the buffet works for them in the a.m. Dinner was also quite good. Nice bathroom, with both tub and shower. The tub was helpful for a hot soak after a day on the bikes. The hotel was immediately adjacent to the autoroute on ramp, so was very convenient. We didn't notice any particular noise. I'd stay here again.
