I've stayed in this hotel many times when visiting Cork on business. Always book a balcony room as they are larger with great outside space to enjoy the view.
Rooms are large with all the usual, kettle, coffee machine, tea and coffee. Iron and board. Room safe and fridge.
Bathrooms are great, only downside is there isn't a separate bath and shower, as its a tight squeeze trying to have a shower the bath! Only other downside in the room is no aircon, on a normal irish summer not a problem but when it's hot could be an issue.
Dinner and breakfast is great and good value. Staff as always friendly.

We had a lovely relaxing stay here. The hotel has been nicely renovated and our room with balcony was very comfortable with a great bath and shower. It also had a fridge which unfortunately wasn’t quite cold enough. The staff were generally very helpful and friendly though a couple of the younger ones seemed a bit inexperienced. The bar/restaurant had a nice atmosphere and the food was good.

Our room was spacious and delightful; housekeeping cleaned each day (though they left empty beer glasses in the room, and swapped out dirty tea mugs with... also dirty mugs.) Manager Owen was an absolute delight to chat with. Our major gripe is the restaurant, and we would not stay here again unless it changes.
The hotel is in a residential neighborhood, so if you're tired after a day of sightseeing, its restaurant is the only nearby option. It's very popular for local children's parties, as reflected by a wholly unimaginative menu, and the staff's prioritization of local patrons over hotel guests. The first time we attempted to eat there, we were literally the only guests besides a large outdoor party. The waiter sat us at an indoor table, where we sat for at least 20 minutes without being offered a drink or even water. When I got up to ask if we'd been forgotten, the waiter offhandedly said they had a large party to serve. No apology from him, nor the bartender or restaurant manager. Being treated like an annoyance, we eventually had to call a taxi to go elsewhere.
The second time we tried for a cocktail and dinner - their cocktails being abundantly advertised in the lift - we were informed the bartenders had called in sick, so no liquor was available. Owen, along with a very nice waiter and a manager who'd come in on his day off, were quite apologetic this time, but we've never experienced such a chaotic, basic, and unreliable restaurant at a 4 star hotel.

The good: Friendly staff. Ample free gated parking. The location was on a hill with great views but was still walkable for those able to walk an incline. Updated old building with charm.
The bad: Overall clean but overly cleaned in halls making the smell of cleaner/chemical very potent and present throughout our stay. This excessive pledge like smell was difficult to walk though multiple times daily. There was also water pressure issues where I was left cold and soapy standing in the shower without water. Front desk staff stated too many people were showering at once. That’s unacceptable.
I would not stay again with the issues and price point with so many other options.

The overall experience was extremely disappointing, mainly due to the poor cleanliness and lack of basic maintenance.

The shower was blocked, and when we used it, it overflowed onto the bathroom floor, which was frankly disgusting. It gave the impression that the shower hadn’t been properly cleaned or maintained for a long time. There were also spider webs in the room, which immediately raised concerns about hygiene.

The TV had been switched off at the plug, which was located near the ceiling, meaning I had to climb onto a table just to turn it on—completely impractical and unsafe.

Housekeeping standards were very poor. Our bed was not made, and essential items like toilet roll and tissues were not restocked. To make matters worse, when we were checking out and did a final check of the room, we found cigarette butts behind the curtains. Had we noticed this earlier, we would have requested a different room immediately.

The room layout itself is also problematic. You enter directly into the bathroom area, and the toilet door cannot even open properly because it hits the sink, making the space awkward and poorly designed.

While I understand that room layout may vary, there is no excuse for the lack of cleanliness. This was unacceptable.

Finally, after checking out early at 5am, we contacted management and were told someone would follow up. No one ever did, and we received no apology.

Overall, a very poor experience and unclean that needs serious improvement.

Kelvin is the best thing about this hotel.
Night 1 we were unable to sleep as construction works were taking place right outside - this (12m contract) was not mentioned anywhere when booking. Called down to reception to ask how long the noise would continue into the night & were advised by reception that it would be best to move rooms.
The new key took over 15mins & once we’d found the new room ourselves, the key didn’t work. I went to Reception to have it activated which Kelvin did promptly. The receptionist who had suggested we move rooms, appeared and informed me she thought I was privileged, spoiled and that she “didn’t give one sh*t about my problems”. I asked for her name to make complaint regarding her language, she tore her name badge off & threw it at me - Kateryna. She justified this behaviour by telling me she was having a panic attack and continued this behaviour until I called the Garda.
In the new room, the bass of the music from the restaurant was audible from 7.30am-11.30pm. On our third night, the restaurant music continued past 1am. The night porter advised it was coming from the restaurant below our room, despite this closing at 11.30. The restaurant noise continued until 3am. Music back on at 8am.
Kelvin did arrange a complimentary dinner in the hotel restaurant for us following the issues on night 1, but in short, I would not stay here again, nor could I recommend it. I’d be grateful if management could contact me to discuss a refund.

This is a very cool hotel. We are giving it 4 stars because of the service we received our first night. Yes, it was later in the evening when we arrived for dinner and drinks, however, it was obvious that staff was annoyed that we had come in - even though there were others in the restaurant and bar. First of all - the building is beautiful. Th e lobby was beautifully decorated as well.
Now about the room. We were given room 110. Three outside walls. Heating is co trolled by the reception and is regularly turned off. Our room was freezing most of the time. We asked reception multiple times to turn the heat on. They did, it got warmer, and then it was turned off again and I had to spend the morning in bed under covers. This was ridiculous. Last day there was one young employee - Stefan- who was the only one who actually seemed to care and made sure the last night the heat stayed on. That’s what we asked for so can’t complain that it got too hot. Couldn’t really regulate the temp by opening windows as they were right over the kitchen vent in one side and over the rubbish bins on the other side. The paid for pricey breakfast was not worth it. Very limited and some days there weren’t even any juices or pastries. Room was somewhat clean - dirty carpet. Comfortable bed and one of the best hotel pillows I’ve seen. Bathroom had no venting and co sensation stayed in walls and mirrors most of the day when the heat wasn’t on.
O stall I would not recommend that specific room. Others might be better. Oh, our last morning there was a lovely lady at the front desk who was actually very pleasant and nice.

If your GPS tells you to drive up Lover’s Walk and you are not familiar with the roads in Ireland reroute immediately!!! We had a gorgeous view from our balcony.. I would recommend hotel staff take an extra look around the radiator as we found someone else’s underwear hiding behind it. Overall we had a lovely stay and the staff was friendly. We unfortunately booked around the time of a wedding so we had to wait for our room despite not being attached to the party. Very nice clean hotel with generous sized rooms. Great patio and bar area. Well equipped gym/health club. Good location close to restaurants, pubs and downtown attractions.

Would have given a five star rating, were it not for a few disappointments: the hotel allowed guests of a private event to smoke in a signed non smoking area at the front entrance, resulting in strong smoke smell in the common areas; and we purchased breakfast on our final morning and despite arriving in the dining room by 8 am, we found the buffet had run out of many items (incl. fruit, yogurt, most breads etc). When we asked, they confirmed that there was no more in the kitchen so these could not be replenished. Given that they required breakfasts to be reserved in advance, one would expect that they’d have a much better handle on required quantities. When we mentioned our disappointment at checkout the front desk rep was apologetic, but there was no offer of even a partial refund.

Beautiful property, very well maintained. Unfortunately, they choose event guests over overnight guests. They reset the event venue in the middle of the night, slamming doors every few minutes. I could go on.

I informed them the window had been open for hours but little breeze was able to cool the room. The staff then offered me a very small fan for a deposit of 20€. Each interaction with the front desk staff that worked the evening was far from pleasant to deal with. The restaurant at the hotel has moderate food but for much higher costs than surrounding eateries and pubs. Would not recommend staying here again.
