The staff here are simply wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was superb, and the swimming pool was excellent. Appreciated the plsuh bathrobes and discreet access without having to cross the lobby. Having separate areas in the bar area and library reserved for hotel guests was lovely and appreciated during the busy holiday season.

Hayfield Manor is an outstanding hotel! The room and grounds were easily as good or better than expected for this price point. The building is historical and charming but with modern conveniences, e.g. heated towel racks and remote controlled AC (yes I needed to cool the room despite being Ireland in November and it was great to have AC). The room was large, the included breakfast was delicious and served by extremely thoughtful servers.
By far the best thing about the hotel was the staff! Without a doubt this was the best hotel staff that my wife and I have ever experienced. They did things for us that you wouldn't have asked for but realized you appreciated (got the car in the rain, carried bags whenever they possibly could, etc.). Best of all they found ways to help us without our asking and without our feeling guilty they were doing things for us. Everyone had a real sense of humor which was such a nice change (or maybe they were just trained to laugh at my probably poor "Dad Jokes"), either way it was great.
An example of the level of thoughtfulness occurred as we checked out. I told the wonderful young woman at the check out desk that we loved the turn down chocolates (an Irish brand not available in the USA) and that we would like to buy a small bag if possible. She excused herself for a minute and came back with a large box of the chocolates as well as a hotel branded chocolate bar. She wouldn't take money and cheerfully gave us the chocolates! Beautiful hotel - our favorite stay in Ireland! The room was great, we loved the spa and breakfast was wonderful. The staff was very conscious of food allergies, which was appreciated. The only downside is that the doorman/ bellhops were a bit aggressive upon arrival. We prefer to take our own luggage to the room and had to be a bit stern. But otherwise, our stay was perfect. Highly recommend!

Staff was extremely friendly and service was good unfortunately, our room was nothing like the pictures on Expedia. Extremely outdated. The fabric headboard had a huge stain on it. Toilet didn’t work and bathroom sideboard was moldy.

The hotel is amazing except for the more expensive rooms. I was surprised to pay 5 star for a room that was below par. I did talk to a manager but she didn’t seem to phased. Probably thought visiting American I’ll never see her again. I’m saddened to say i won’t return. I’ve always screamed the praises of this hotel in the past. :-(

The Hayfield Manor was a lovely place to stay while we explored Cork and the surrounding areas. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovations, but our room was already completed -- and it was beautiful with great touches like the Victrola and records, bath salts for the enormous bathtub (hint: the drain plug works by spinning it sideways), heated tiles in the bathroom, and the most comfortable bed we've ever encountered in a hotel. The hotel has a lovely garden that we would have enjoyed had it not been raining! The in-house restaurants are delicious. The carpet in some areas of the hotel appear worn, but it had been replaced in our room.

The hotel is about a 20-25 minute walk to St. Fin Barre's Cathedral and the English Market. We also enjoyed exploring the grounds at University College Cork, directly across the street from Hayfield Manor. A short walk is the beautiful Fitzgerald Park with a magical fairy tree (that's what I call it, anyway -- it is covered with mosaic glass!), a pond, a playground, and a rose garden on the banks of the river.

Note that this hotel is "old school" in that you are offered a sip of Irish whiskey upon arrival, and room keys are actual keys that must be turned in at the front desk whenever you leave the property. The staff are attentive and observant: when we entered after an excursion to the English Market and I came in with flowers, they brought a vase and scissors to our room so we could arrange them before we could even ask.

We had a lovely stay overall—the location is excellent, easy walking distance to the city, and the pool and spa were absolutely fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made a great impression. A couple of small things: our room wasn’t quite ready when we arrived, which caused a bit of a delay as we had people waiting on us. Also, one of the dining rooms was closed for the evening, so we had to eat in our room and pay the room service delivery fee—not a huge deal, just a bit frustrating. That said, we’d still happily recommend the property.

However the bread that was served for breakfast was stale and old . Service in general was good, except for the front desk staff, the young lady. She was not friendly and welcoming and felt like she was not in the mood!

If this was my first stay at Hayfield, the review would probably be better. Since my last visit, Hayfield has shrunk the once majestic reception area to squeeze as many $500 a night guests in as they can. The hotel is now extremely crowded (if you do plan to stay there, book meal reservations a week in advance now). The extra help they’ve had to hire in order to accommodate the huge number of guests are significantly less polished and less experienced. No one picked up our room our entire stay and someone would come banging on our door (not using the bell) after 9pm offering turn down service-but we would already be in bed. The food is still good- at least what we could get on the room service menu, which is just a few items. The pool and spa were crowded and no longer the tranquil oasis I remember. Everything was packed- the parlor, parking lot, every landing, and especially downstairs. With the renovations, Hayfield has taken on a feel more of an outdated Hilton instead of the timeless institution it once was. A shame. That being said, Noel was wonderful and went above and beyond. Didn’t get to see Frank this visit.

An Irish Gem.

We treated ourselves to a fancy hotel for our anniversary and it was great. This was an expensive two days, but I never once thought it wasn’t worth it. The place is beautiful. The actual property is lovely. Service however was lacking by very young staff for a hotel charging nearly $900 a night. This was matched w the staff in the restaurant who forgot our wine until asked and I also had a hair in my salad. We woke up to construction right outside our room that was not indicated for the property. Hotel as seen in photos but experience was lacking and not accommodated for when pointed out.

Really nice property with Spa facilities and pool. Two restaurants and bar that are popular with locals. Hotel popular with American tourists also. David the barman particular highlight of staff however service levels probably not as good as you’d expect at this level (maybe Covid as interesting mix of local and foreign staff - some very attentive, others not that bothered). Had a few issues (more than we’d expect) - taxi booked at wrong time to airport, breakfast order wrong, drinks order wrong, request items forgotten etc - all in themselves minor but added up to spoil the quality level we were expecting. Rooms are great, showers particularly good. Common areas starting to get tired, chairs lining and brocade falling off, curtains ripped, quite dusty etc. Food is good but not great and skip breakfast and head into Cork itself as there are better breakfasts around 10-15 mins walk away (Spitjack in particular). On the whole a good experience but needs some attention to staff, food and a spring clean/ repair to be worth the price point to be honest. Despite that probably still the best place to stay in Cork.

The Hayfield Manor Hotel is not a typical corporate hotel, but a step back towards a more genteel period of more personalized service in an intimate setting with antique furnishings, well kept grounds with a hint of modernity like flat screen televisions. The staff honestly tries to meet the needs of the guests and coming off the pandemic, but there were some minor lapses that is expected until the newer staff gain additional experience working with the guests. Overall, a very good experience.

This hotel never disappoints. From the moment you walk in the door it is just the best. The staff are just fantastic everyone of them, the rooms are spacious, clean and beds comfortable. never any issues at all. Food in Perrots is just delicious - especially the Duck - but have never had a meal that wasn't amazing. Breakfasts are beautiful with whatever you want - never a problem. Just a lovely vibe about the place. can't wait to return. The only small gripe I would have which is down to the current covid situation at the moment is the lounge area and Sauna are out of action at present so just the pool and the outdoor jacuzzi - but if you don't swim not really anywhere to lie around. Other than that I would not want to stay anywhere else in Cork City.

Service, staff and food was great. Car EV chargers not accessible due to poor parking beside them (not really hotel's fault). Room we were given (#233) was unbearably hot (I measured it at 30 degrees) with the in-room Air Con was not able to cool down to a reasonable temperature. It helped a bit, but an hour in the room would give you a headache from stuffiness. Opening a window helped but the room is directly over a lot of extraction fans (probably from Kitchen) so its like sitting over a jet engine! So you have to choose your poison: unbearable heat or noise :-)

Mentioned it to front-reception staff but it was waved off as likely to be due to the warm day that day (it was 20.5 degrees outside).

It may just be an issue with our specific room or rooms above the extraction fan piping – so make sure you are getting better/quiet rooms if booking – you may get a much better experience.

Not a 5-star experience from that perspective.
