Jennifer
Beautiful hotel with very helpful and amazing staff who go above and beyond what is expected. Lovely eating facilities and garden patio area.
Betty
Loved the staff and breakfast was wonderful
Michele
Staff exceptional, Alan and Conner (bar), John and Johanes (Guest Services), every person we encountered were friendly and made our stay our favorite place to come back. Hotel was great, breakfast very good, rooms were comfortable and spacious.
Kay
The hotel has charm but is definitely showing its age. The spa was the biggest disappointment — overpriced, poorly delivered, and handled by an inexperienced massage attendant. The windows could use a good clean, and the grounds would benefit from some general tidying to bring the place back to life.
On a positive note, breakfast was generous in portion and very well cooked, which was a welcome highlight of the stay.

Lovely older hotel beautifully refurbished. Roomy, great bed, excellent services and lovely grounds. An excellent place to stay in Cork.

Ryan
Amazing hotel, couldn't ask for more. Staff incredible.
Nancy
Great staff and especially the two concierge staff and evening bartenders!! Was disappointed in the bed. It was a king but had a slope to it. The room was nice and the property was very pretty!!
Donna

Ashley

We had a wonderful stay at the Maryborough Hotel. The standard of service from all staff members we encountered was warm and friendly. The hotel accommodations were top end and the Espa and pool were very enjoyable. Great to have this hotel on our own doorstep. Thank you

The guest relations Manager listened when I mentioned that the room we had overlooked a roof ie the view looked onto a working area of the flat roof. Otherwise the stay meet our requirements. The Gurst relations Manager gave us his card to let him know when we next stay.

Everything from check in, to bar staff, to breakfast staff was amazing!
Michael
Excellent service, good choice for breakfast
Miguel
Wonderful hotel, great find!
Thomas
Exceptional staff and lots of them . Lovely spa , great facilities. Breakfast menu ok . Restaurant menu was not cheap . House wine €42
Belinda
It’s a little bit out of Cork, but a lovely property: both old and new part of the hotel. The best option would be a suite in the 300 year old original building, if you can afford it. But garden view newer rooms also nice!
John
One of the finest hotels I e ever stayed at.
Service was over the top.

Environmentally wonderous. Astonishing trees and grounds. I appreciated the pool and the lane for swimmers doing lengths. Fabulous breakfast.
Melissa
Excellent hotel. The staff was a amazing, the ladies only pool and spa area was THE BEST! Our only issue was the instant coffee in the rooms. That was super disappointing but we know to be prepared for the possibility of it for the last 1/2 of our trip! It sure didnt wreck our stay since the hotel is super fancy and really amazing though!
Harley
Excellent staff and great facility! Would stay again!
Gary
Luxurious and class personified. Keelan, Allen in the restaurant and bar were excellent and friendly. Book here asap as they are very busy.
Lori
A beautiful Resort with lovely bar, lounge and grounds. Our rooms were wonderful and the spa clean and nice. The staff was excellent.
William
What an excellent surprise. This hotel was friendly at Ck in and John was a big help at the concierge director . Showed us around, restaurants , facilities, and even helped with the luggage. Really made us feel special!!
John
Probably a good choice for a wedding or business conference venue, this was a poor choice for us as tourists as it is out from town in a residential area.
While the rooms were large and staff helpful, I was disappointed that they did not have coffee in the rooms or in the lobby before 8am on weekends.
A erroneous fire alarm repeated three times during one night of our stay between 2 and 3am was also disappointing without apology or explanation.

Excellent Staff
Amazing friendly and hospitable staff, the restaurant food and service was also exceptional. 10/10

The Maryborough met all of my basic expectations from any hotel: clean; warm/cool; and hot water. Everything else is down to the staff and the Maryborough's staff were exceptional. From checking in to leaving they were cheerful, knowledgeable and attentive. What a pleasure.
Thank you.

Mark
Nice stay.
Top quality independent bed and breakfast…… a nice change from a standard hotel.
Mark
This is the only hotel room I've ever stayed in that had a bath tub in the sitting area. The walk from the reception area to our room was convoluted and required going up and down stairs, amd passing through multiple doors. The spa was ok, but like the rest of the facility, maintenence was lacking.
JOSEPH
Rooms clean comfortable updated. Staff efficient and pleasant. Spa a little run down could use some maintenance but the staff products and services were top notch! Had facial and massage and they were on point!

Gorgeous.

As always a very friendly and efficient hotel to stay, currently upgrading their rooms. And doing a great job. Highly recommendable, the spa is a great convenience also.

We received a warm welcome from a friendly joyful
Jason
Very nice property, clean and quiet. Let down by there being no sheer curtains on the windows which significantly reduced sense of privacy as on the ground floor.
Mark
Should be a 5 star hotel. Best place we stayed in England, Scotland, or Ireland.
Emely
Not walkable to downtown Cork but nevertheless it was an oasis. The grounds are beautiful and lush it felt like being in a fairy garden. Rooms were comfortable. The bed was amazingly comfortable. Service was top notch and so friendly. Would stay here over and over.
Beena
The hotel is beautiful. The rooms were great.
Amanda
Excellent staff, beautiful grounds and on site restaurants. Rooms included comfy Premium bedding and amenities. The hotel was close to various attractions but felt secluded from noisy areas.
Mark
Beautiful, clean and quiet. Loved our stay.

Fantastic stay in a beautiful hotel with great and caring staff especially the lovely reception lady.

Staff is extremely helpful and courteous. David was a great source of local knowledge and very helpful
Melinda
Beautiful hotel. Staff was helpful and friendly. Alan at the bar was fantastic. Breakfast provided was great. Continental options and you can order as well.

After checking in and getting to our rooms #251 and #252 we were extremely disappointed. The rooms look nothing like anything shown on the website (more zen Polynesian looking) and definitely not something we were looking for. The musty smell in the hallway and the water damage stains on the ceiling and currents in #251.
While trying to accept what we were given I went to the front desk and advised them that had I known that those were the rooms that we were going to get I would of never booked that hotel. Johannes at the front desk was very apologetic and said he would rectify it and had us moved to room #320 and #222 which were more like the photos shown on the website.
Other than the room situation at the start we were pleased with the hotel. The breakfast was very good each morning. They offer plenty of free parking on the property.

Nice breakfast! Beautiful hotel grounds
Jim
Very quaint and enjoyable. The staff and whole experience were fantastic!
Jeffrey
Great staff but room needs work
Staff was fantastic, the room needed renovating badly. Stained ceilings and walls wit peeling wallpaper
David
Our accessible room was perfect for us. We had a great view of the courtyard. We enjoyed the complimentary full breakfast that was served in the dining room. The handicap parking was very close to the lift to get up to our room.
John
Fantastic luxury hotel.

Maryborough review
Everything was great, especially the spa experience
Susan
A lovely hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful.
John
We stayed in a Junior Suite which was fabulous. You’d want to be fit for the stairs but if you are it’s well worth it to stay in the old part of the hotel. Restaurant was fabulous too as was the bar food and friendly staff. Thermal suite was great
Andrew
Quiet and relaxing with superb staff service. Our suite felt special and was aged nicely but with everything we needed. Good food and service in bars and breakfast as well.
José
Nice, clean, helpful staff got us off to the airport very early.
Benita
Nice place to stay!
June
The hotel facilities were great the spa was amazing but the bedroom let the whole thing g down .. broken furniture, scratched furniture and dirty carpet … the whole room was a complete let down.. for such a lovely downstairs the room was a disgrace. It was worth a 1 star let alone a 4 star .. and was the most expensive room we had on our trip and it was the worst!!
I would like to stay there again as our family lives in the area but unless the revamp not a hope.
Shame cause I would recommend their spa to everyone.

Too Quiet and Too Outdated
We stayed one night here after arriving from Dublin. The room given was a spa room and it is old fashioned and outdated. It was far from any photos that was shown when I booked the room. Breakfast was thankfully a better one compared to the room we had. Located in the residential area and therefore is a quiet place away from the traffic noise. Did not take photos because we do not need any reminders of the room given to us that was supposedly going for renovations soon. Being a Gold member I was also not offered any room upgrade.
Carrie
Lovely stay.

Nice stay- lovely staff, big room . Very good breakfast and excellent parking.
Mary
Bedroom/en suite, no complaints. Man who checked us in at Reception was really efficient and so pleasant.
Breakfast on Sunday morning, alas, was bedlam. Tables were not cleared off even though guests well gone. The entrance area to restaurant wasn’t manned all the time so some room numbers not taken. Guests had to call staff (limited numbers). to order hot food! A Supervisor needed - not rocket science. Glad we were only there for 1 night. Brother-in-law there 2 nights and said breakfast was more organized on the Saturday morning …..

Beautiful room, wonderful setting, friendly and accommodating staff. Couldn’t ask for more.

Keep coming back
We stay here every time we visit Cork. Just a lovely home away from home feel to it. Great staff, great food and lovely rooms. Then there’s the spa etc. What more would you want.

It was 'fine'.............
The hotel is on some very nice stately grounds with a very nice Spa facility attached. The Bedroom I have to say was not great. The bath / shower area was awful with it almost impossible to stop the water going everywhere. Lighting really poor / bedding poor / temperature regulation poor and floors which seemed like freshly polished were lethal! Breakfast / dinner was good and grounds were lovely, but could do with some money being spent on the rooms.

A gem of relaxation in Douglas
This is a fabulous resort and is run like clockwork. Friendly, personable and attentive staff are there to help as required. The food is very good in the dining room and bar. Spa facilities are really something.

We will come again.
We will come again.

Fantastic stay loved every moment will stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Maryborough Hotel. Staff were so friendly and breakfast had an amazing selection. The room was clean and very comfortable. There was a slight issue with the shower mat which was actually slippery and would have been safer without. The hotel is in a beautiful setting and we had a relaxing stay before our onward journey.
Heather
We were pretty excited based on the pictures. Parking was easy and check-in quick. All was good up until we got to our room. The mattress was horrible, there were only two outlets that worked and they are tucked inside a cubbie. The bathroom was the worst. You have to be a very flexible person to get into the shower which was very hard for my 79 year old mother. Barely any lighting in the bathroom. Just a very awkward room especially for a 4 star hotel. Food was okay but overpriced for the quality.

The Maryborough Hotel and Spa is a beautiful and luxurious hotel located in Cork, Ireland. From the moment you step inside, you are transported into a world of elegance and comfort. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with comfortable beds and modern amenities. The spa is also excellent, offering a wide range of treatments and facilities to help you relax and rejuvenate.
One of the standout features of The Maryborough is the stunning gardens that surround the property. They are meticulously maintained and provide a tranquil oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel's restaurant, Bellini's, serves delicious food in a stylish and sophisticated setting, and the staff is friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home.

The toilet is in the wardrobe as is the shower and the bath is freestanding in the bedroom. It’s a cross between Faulty Towers and Mrs Brown’s Boys
Ashley
Quiet, well appointed room with bath and access to lawn. Great spa area open quite late to enjoy. Comfy beds and eco-friendly lighting. Unfortunately, unable to review breakfast as we left too early and breakfast is served later on the weekend which was unclear at booking so paid more for bed and breakfast package that was not able to be redeemed.

Top notch!
Great staff. Great spa facilities. Top notch.

Mary Borough is a tired old lady
We stayed here after a overbooking issue with Hotels.com which was a nightmare 2 hours of admin support from them because you cannot contact them by phone direct !!! ……the stay at Maryborough was extremely disappointing… for a so called country house style hotel… especially breakfast where service was appalling with surly staff & terrible overcooked omelettes plus no staff cleared the table after we had obviously given up on trying to eat them … this hotel needs a management that leads from the front .. lacklustre & tired seems to sum this place up .. even when we wanted heating in our room last night we waited for an old fashioned portable radiator to be brought up … this place I will definitely give a wide berth to in future even we only stayed here due to hotels.com/Raddison incompetence in the first place !!! We both travel a lot & we know what hotel standards should be met as a minimum & this so called 4 star hotel lacks an awful lot of them !!
Steve
This hotel is a family run,( by no means a small operation) constantly great hotel with fabulous facilities. The service is second to none all around the hotel. The restaurant set its bar high.l, consistently good food.
Thabolwethu
The property itself was beautiful but the balcony was dirty and needed to be cleaned lots of cobwebs. As the weather was warm we needed to keep the window open but so many spiders had made a home by the never cleaned balcony door. The tvs in the rooms need to be replaced, a 4 star hotel needs smart tvs, we needed to watch something and were limited to the channels provided by the hotel, I thought that was ancient. The staff was friendly though

A gem near Cork and Cobh
The Maryborough Hotel and Spa is a gem just outside of Cork. The hotel rooms were extremely comfortable and just a delight. The staff were engaged and welcoming--from the front desk, to the restaurant/pub, to room cleaning staff, and spa staff. We had food and beverages in the restaurant/pub and were pleased. We also took advantage of the pool, hot tub, and sauna. It's just a lovely hotel and great place to stay.

Worth a stay when in Cork.
Dinner was excellent, but a bit pricey. Good breakfast but replenish the fresh fruit more promptly.
Room was clean, but the bathroom was a bit tired and unclean between the tiles and around bath / shower.
Some furniture around the bar / reception area was badly worn and needs re-upholstering - as it created a bad impression, given the setting and the prices.

Relaxing stay close to city centre
Had a great 2 night stay at the Maryborough Hotel. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Food was very good but menu was curtailed because of staff shortages and supply issues mostly related to COVID. Setting on its own ground so close to city centre is great with a lovely walk through the wooded grounds on the tarmac internal roads. Highly recommended location

Lovely staff, excellent service, room ok
Food was great, service was excellent.
Overall the room was nice but the design of the bathroom was poor and not user friendly.
There were lovely ESPA products in the bathroom and plenty of towels. This was handy because the design of the shower over the bath meant that when you used the shower you flooded the bathroom. Despite being an able bodied woman the bath was difficult to step into, although not as difficult as it was to hang my toiletry bag on the back of the door as the hook location required me to be 6ft 8in tall.
There is no suitable location to do your hair - there is a stool and a hairdryer provided in the bathroom but no where to plug in your own hair tools. The stool is low and the mirror/light provided is too high too see into when sitting. The mirror is magnified and is useful only to examine your pores or shape your eyebrows. There is a another mirror behind the bath, but the obviously last minute addition of a shower curtain to prevent the aforementioned flooding means you cannot see into it, because the curtain wont move out of the way.
These points may seem petty, but to someone who travels for work and stays in a lot of hotels, they are frustrating and let down what would have otherwise been a 5* stay.

Although there is much that I could say about our 4 night stay at the Maryborough, I will just leave it at the following things: I had to get the Deputy GM involved to just get the type room that I had reserved - no mention ever of any Gold member VIP upgrades or even the acknowledgment of being Gold. They never responded to my response from a message that they originally sent me when I asked to schedule a day at the spa to spoil my wife, and after being informed in person about this, there offer was to \"work\" her in after the spa closed for 50 minutes. It was literally the worst experience that I have had at hotel, let alone a so called VIP Hotel that I paid a premium for. The only redeeming quality that I could say about this hotel is that the F&B staff and facilities were exceptional. Outside of that, I would not stay there again even if it was free! What a truly sad experience.
