Great resort, with a lovely swimming pool, great buffet breakfast, bar and restaurant.
Easy 30min walk to the town centre, or there is a cheap and quick shuttle ride in, cost was only $5 per person each way.
The staff are all lovely and welcoming.
Our room we had was a one bedroom pool view room, which was spacious and clean, but did have a shower over the bath, which isn't great.
Would definitely recommend this resort for couples or families.

We were looking forward to a real resort style stay.
Staff were amazing and location was superb.
We had a few issues with the shower, and Oaks admitted that it was a renovation defect with water seeping out to the whole bathroom.
As mature guests, we were placed on the second floor with no lifts, which proved a bit taxing on the legs. The bellboys were supportive to help with the baggage.
Not sure how they list 3 restaurants, when it is really one, servicing breakfast 7-9.30, poolside 12-3 and dinner 6-8.30
The pool is a reasonable size but there are far fewer chairs than needed (this was off-peak season), I would hate to see what it is like in the peak season.
Overall, not a bad stay, but certainly lower than expected.

My adult daughter and I loved our stay. The pool area is great with a swim up bar and good food options. Included breakfast was a great start to the day. Staff are very welcoming and attentive. Shuttle service into town was fantastic. We will definetly be back!

Hotel.com missold my booking as I booked a poolside 1 bedroom apartment but got a 1 bedroom apartment with a garden view so far out we were nearly next plot. The wall outside the sitting area was covered in mould and filth with a small tree growing . There was no connector to charge a mobile, the bedroom carpet was heavily stained, and a 70s style bath with jets which my husband couldn’t use at all and nearly tripped me getting in and out as we both have arthritis. The shower was over the bath, no slip mat and dangerous to elderly. The cooking top was dark glass and you couldn’t see how to use the controls except with a torch. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The bedroom fan was either tornado mode or barely moving. Reception gave us a connector on our second day, but only contacted us on our third to be lately offered another apartment with only one night left? They confirmed Hotel.com booked us a garden apartment and not a poolside apartment. As we hadn’t booked a breakfast a charge of $30 was made instead of $25. The breakfast buffet was very average and the fresh fruit was abysmal, slices of various melon and pineapple. The staff were very welcoming and advised to book avoiding the $5 surcharge. If you wanted just coffee or tea it was still the $30 charge.

The room and pool were very large and spacious. The staff at the front desk were amazing! I could not say the same for the evening restaurant, the staff were aloft, inattentive and not overly keen to be there. The food was average so we chose to go into Port. Our week stay was wonderful

Our first room was very tired with stained carpets and old tvs. They were kind enough to move us to a refurbished unit which was much better though no wifi for the whole stay unless you were close to the main area.
It looked nice for families with a nice big pool.

Very comfortable rooms. Handy having a separate bedroom and living area with a baby. Same with having a washer/dryer and a kitchen. Fun games area with pool, table tennis and darts. Pool was nice. Where the property could be improved is the food. Breakfast was fine but lunch and dinner lacked a bit. Was a a bit disappointing. But the stay was great.

Oaks Resort overall was good, unfortunately the towels and sheets were dirty, but the hotel staff were fabulous and organised house keeping to replace the towels and change the sheets very promptly.
The pool area was fabulous as was the gardens surrounding Oaks Resort. We would no hesitate to stay there again.

I stayed here for one night for work, having stayed in other oaks resorts, I thought I would be comfortable and refreshed for work. I know the hotel is in port Douglas so you can expect some insects but my room genuinely looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. They put me in a room on the side of the property that clearly hadn’t been refurbished. There were spiders and cobwebs in every corner of the room, an ant trap behind the kitchen sink, no draft blocker under the door so insects were just walking straight under the door (in a 4 star resort just put draft blocker tape under the front door). There were hundreds of ants eating dead Beatles on the kitchen floor but no ant spray or bug spray. But the final straw was there were ants in the BED!! For hours I just kept finding ants crawling on me in bed so I finally moved furniture around and right behind the bedside table was a hole in the wall with hundreds of ants just crawling the wall. I called reception and they had to move me at 12:30 in the morning, the middle of the night before I had work at 7 the next morning! The next room was one of the refurbished rooms so it was better, it had been cleaned in the last month. But yet again ants in the bed… same exact problem. Ants just crawling through the wall onto the bed. I stay in hotels for work all over QLD and NSW every week and this was one of the worse stays I’ve had. I’ve stayed in safari tents and camp sites that were cleaner and more comfortable.

I was upgraded to an apartment which was so spacious and comfortable. Only drawback was that wifi did not work anywhere in the complex, which is unusual.

There was also a very loud smoke alarm at 12.30am that would have woke up everybody. I was informed a fire in a microwave in a room triggered it. But did it have to sound in the entire complex? Quite a shock! Luckily I got back to sleep.

We were really disappointed that the pool bar etc was not open on xmas day - this was not mentioned at the time of booking, as well as we wanted to book in for the xmas day lunch but were advised a day or 2 beforehand that it was fully booked out....only offering pizzas on xmas day was really poor form. We ended up having to go to another resort for xmas day dinner and spend our money there.

The property could be 5/5, however the rooms require maintenance and better cleaning.

One of our internal sliding door handles was non-existent and often got stuck on the tracks. Our shower had mould, rust and a build up of dust on the windowsill.
All counter and table tops had some type of spills on them that weren’t cleaned properly.
Our fridge had spills throughout and some had even leaked and dried onto the floor.

In saying that, The staff are all really friendly.
The facilities (mainly the pool) are great and it is close enough to everything in Port Douglas.

Everything else (apart from our actual room) was great.

Arrived for check in with 2 friends, lady checking us in wasn’t the friendliest, we all have those days, but check in was a disaster, she gave us very brief instructions on how to find our rooms, no mention of any of the hotel facilities, no mention of “happy hour”, breakfast information, how the bus works or told anything about booking tours etc. thankfully we have Google.
Finding the room was a challenge due to the poor instructions, get to the room and find out I’m missing some towels, I spoke to reception and was advised of an issue with towels coming up from Cairns, ok things happen but why wasn’t this mentioned at check in, reading the reviews on Google this towel situation has been going on for a number of weeks along with a number of other problems.
Overall the room was clean, the pool was great and the staff were friendly.

A beautiful resort in the Tropics!

The Oaks Resort is a beautiful resort. The staff are all friendly, polite, helpful and professional. The rooms are private, clean, spacious, well equipped with clean bathrooms, comfortable beds and comfortable living areas. The pool, bar, outdoor areas, games area were all very well presented and made for a very enjoyable stay. The restaurant presented meals that were of a high level of dining.

The Oaks Resort is a beautiful resort. The staff are all friendly, polite, helpful and professional. The rooms are private, clean, spacious, well equipped with clean bathrooms, comfortable beds and comfortable living areas. We stayed in a hotel room and a one bedroom apartment on our stay. The pool, bar, outdoor areas, games area were all very well presented and made for a very enjoyable stay. The restaurant had a delicious assortment on their menu and we enjoyed dining there. I we would highly recommend this resort and would love to stay there again in the future. Thanks for a memorable holiday!

The room was fine but the wifi didn’t work. The dinner option was very limited and in any case, we had to drive somewhere to get it. There are no lifts and given the lack of suitable meal options, this is a place for young families in particular. The pool area is particularly good.

The customer service was terrible . I rant to combine both night of accomodation and apparently the message did not get to the motel so I had to check out and re- check in ! Had to wait for someone to contact me about my second room being ready but no one ever did and 2 -5 hours went by before I asked at Fest about room and no one even knew about it! The room towels weee dirty and had to be replaced and there weee no pool towels.

Staff were nice, but service was lacking somewhat. Items advertised were not available and there was a towel shortage throughout the stay. Not sure if there was no housekeeping for the room type we booked, but the room was never serviced the whole week we were there. Usually it’s 3-4 days max in most places. Dining options very limited. Felt like they made an effort to discourage people spending time at the property

Nice property with lovely gardens. We arrived late afternoon and were hoping to order pizzas from the hotel but when we went to order we were told that it wasn’t open as they were waiting on a food delivery. The next morning we were looking forward to spending the day by the pool but there were no towels at the pool. When I enquired at reception I was told that there were no towels as they were waiting for a delivery from Cairns. I then asked a room service person if we could use some room towels for the day but there were none of those either. The poor woman seemed frustrated like she had been asked the same question 100 times. This place has a serious towel shortage! We paid premium rates in school holidays and I feel that the hotel should have been more prepared for higher numbers of people.

This was a beautiful resort with a gorgeous central pool area and gardens.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment overlooking the pool, it was lovely. We had a third person on a sofa bed in the lounge area and that worked well.
The kitchen was stocked with coffee pods and I always like that, there could be more utensils in the actual kitchen and, better provision for a third person staying in the room.
Our housekeeping did a great job and I particularly appreciated that they did the dishes a couple of times, that made it feel like a holiday! A small thing, they kept only leaving two towels and at one stage did not replace the tea towel, nothing too major really!
The swim up bar was fun, it’s open from 12 to 3 so we were only around for that once. Property needs some TLC here & there but is beautiful. Overall, the staff were very polite but I wouldn’t say that they seemed really excited and happy to be there. Made me wonder why.
We had a great time. Thank you Oaks.

We really struggled to come to terms with the old soft saggy and dirty matresses, however turning them upside down was an improvement in firmness and hygiene so we managed some decent sleep. Room felt really low budget and old.
We really liked the outdoor space at the hotel with the ponds and plants, also enjoyed the pingpong table in reception, otherwise sorry but we wouldn't stay here again.

First I was checked into a room that had not been cleaned, after having to walk back to reception in the rain I was moved to another room however the only thing that I could say was positive is that the bed was comfortable, the carpet was filthy with stains everywhere, the bathroom was really not good with no face washers or bath mat so rather slippery getting out of the shower, the shower had mold all over the roof and other places, bits of wood missing from around the sink area with exposed particle board, I was offered a bottle of wine after the first room was not cleaned however when delivered it was a warm bottle of sparkling wine all in all rather disappointing and considering I have stayed here on several occasions this will definitely be the last time I will stay here.
