Having been visiting the burstin since pre coved I have watched with with interest the re furb that’s been taking place. However first visit this year and o dear where do I start. Unable to purchase drinks at start of England Ghana football game cash or card. Many people very frustrated and disappointed. 3 out of 4 lifts out of service which is compounded by the stopping on certain floors only anyway. No hot water in room.all while pice has pretty much doubled in the 6 years I’ve been going. Having said all that me and wife love folkstone so will always return

The bathroom was dirty a lot of lime scale on taps dirty coffee mugs went to reception with one mug as it had some kind of detergent ie bleach told go to bar and get new one got to bar bar was shut went back to reception and told to to other bar for a clean mug as a paying customer I think it’s unacceptable that I should have to run around hotel to get clean mug s for the food in the Victorian restaurant it was luke warm and not very enjoyable after travelling all day it’s not wat i expected

Typical Britannia Hotel as with them all seen better days but a trip back to a proper UK seaside holiday and was fun. If you want 4 star plus luxury this is not for you.
But I love the Seaside vibe with a great location for bars and restaurants.

The room was clean, and the staff are great. Few little issues, but nothing major, we had some issues with the shower being a bit temperamental, sometimes it would come on, other times it wouldn't come on at all, and the temperature took some working out as well.

The room had a nice fridge, and decent sized TV on the wall, which worked well.

The building seems to only have 1 lift that covers a range of floor, so there is often a queue for the lift, which is fine, its healthy to take the stairs.

Parking is a problem, the carpark is not big enough for the number of guess. there was a lot of double parked cars, blocking in other vehicles.

The food at breakfast was slow to replenish but was decent, and the staff were very polite and friendly.

In some areas it feels like the hotel is stuck in the 80s but in others it feels like it is modern.

The hotel is dog friendly, and no issues with you having pets in the room, and around the building.

I enjoyed the stay, did everything I needed.

Room decent size could be cleaned a little better. Windows with a view would be nice if you could see out them very dirty. Got locked out of my bathroom at 4am had to go down to lobby and get staff to fix door. Overall the hotel looked very tired has the potential to be a nice hotel but requires a lot of work rooms not serviced everyday as advertised in booking you have to request this the night before. So if staff not servicing rooms what are they cleaning? Bed uncomfortable could use a new mattress. Meals satisfactory for price.

Older hotel but good value. It is a group entertainment facility so be prepared for coach tour festivities. Avoid rooms close to the entry to the wing doors. They bang late and start early to wake you. The lifts can be a challenge. Sometimes out of order issues and long waits to escape or exercise your step climbing up and down.

For a 1 night stay it was ok… upgraded to an executive room.. not sure what we got for the extra! Room was very basic, but for the price couldn’t grumble too much. Room was not setup as a double as requested, but reception was quick to get this organised. Did notice when maid came and change the bedding etc, that underneath was stained and not very nice. Basic amenities onsite. Paid for the upgrade for breakfast included. Not worth the money, buffet style with not much of an option. Could have purchased elsewhere down the road for same price and better quality. For the price it was good. But not for more than 1 night.

We stayed here before getting the ferry early the next morning.

We paid for an early check in but due to traffic we’re late but our room was still not ready.

The whole place felt a bit outdated but the location was great.

There are nearby EV chargers but the on site parking is a bit sketchy.

Be warned about car park, it is horrible and cramped. Go early if you want a space, it is a free for all. The bathroom had a few broken items and it did not feel clean. It was bearable for one night, would not stay a second night.

Our room was dirty, floor not hoovered. Rice in one of the beds and windows and bathroom walls covered in smears and shower products. Our towels had been washed but had someone elses hairs woven into them.
The bed was rock hard and the bunk beds squeaked so much it was too loud for us to sleep. Outside the hotel was incredibly noisy all night people on the street making noise which is not hotels fault but worth considering if you want any sleep.
The menu had allergen notices that were incorrectly marked. We always double check and luckily the staff member was excellent in also double checking, however if I'd ordered my meal marked as allergen free as some would, I'd have ended up in hospital because it did contain the allergen it stated wasnt in it. The manager gave us free drinks and a steak to make up for it as I was unnerved to eat there being honest. She said she would have the menu corrected ASAP but I felt that was a huge issue that should never have happened. People can die from that kind of mistake.
We tried to use the kids arcade but not one single machine worked so kids were disappointed.
We dodged using the pool as we didn't have much faith in it being clean or safe after seeing our room.

It’s a proper old fashioned seaside hotel. Plenty of places to sit and chat and eat and drink.
Friendly staff.
The hotel is quite old so do not have plugs by the bed so if you need that for charging phones (or cpap machines) then bring an extension cord 😊
I was a solo traveller with a dog and people could not have been nicer.
I can’t wait to return 👏

We had a wonderful stay at the Grand Burstin Hotel in Folkestone. The location is perfect, the staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was clean and comfortable. The rooms are offered at a sensible price. Excellent value for money overall.
Highly recommend for a relaxing short break!

The best things about the hotel are the staff and the location.
On the down side, the hot water kept either going cold or cutting out thought the day and our stay.
There's no telephone on the room so I had to keep going down to reception, wait in queue and report the lack of hot water. The engineer had to come up and \"reset the hot water tank\"! That's every time it happened and it happend over four time when hot water went cold and multiple times during the day when the hot water just stopped coming out of the tap.
The rooms have to air con either.
Aloso, save yourself some money and opt out of the buffet breakfast. There's not much there...!
I guess you get what you pay for and for the price we pay, we get the service that reflects that price.

We have checked in and checked out on the same day due to being allocated a room with very poor cleaning standards. We took pictures and showed them to the duty manager. The pictures detail show a door covered in grease with finger marks, dirty floor, chair with crumbs and a stool with hair bits on.
We don't recommend staying in this Hotel

Aside from the kind and helpful staff and fab location, we will sadly never stay here again. The hotel is extremely dated and poorly maintained, breakfast was poor, the swimming pool you have to pay extra for (!) and the car park is a free-for-all and verging on dangerous. The cons far outweigh the pros here unfortunately.

We stayed here and were unfortunately very unhappy the hotel was so loud people were running round the corridors screaming and shouting throughout the night till the early hours we barely slept and had an early wake up at 5 to get the eurotunnel so we felt like we barely slept, it was like being at an 18-30s hotel
Also there were not enough towels in the room I had to go down and ask for more and the room felt like it hadn’t been cleaned properly there was so much dirt and dust on the fan we used due to how hot the weather was

The reception staff where excellent and efficient. The hotel served a purpose as we were attending a party in Folkestone but in the future I would look elsewhere for alternative accomodation.

The room wash clean. The staff were friendly. The room was falling apart. Couldn't close bathroom door. Toilet seat kept slipping off the toilet. Bunkbed needed tightening up as very wobbly. So we moved top mattress to the floor. Swimming pool was lovely. Had shower room afterwards with no hot water at all.
Great location. Rooms are probably prone to being trashed.
If you are looking for somewhere to just put your head at night, then it is great. Don't expect anything else.

Nothing Grand about this hotel,arrived after a long journey from France,no parking available on-site had to park on site road which ment we had get up early next day to move the car by 9.We were also told we'd have to pay £5 if we wanted to park at the hotel.I was'nt aware there was a charge.We booked a double room but was given room 510 which was a family room.The window handle was broken so it did'nt shut,the window vent would'nt stay closed and it was blowing a gale outside so the room was cold.We did have a heater in the room but we had to keep resetting it because it kept switching off.The quilt's on the bed's were very thin we ended up using all the quilt's in the room to sleep.There was hot water in the bathroom sink but bath and shower no hot water just luke warm.There was an old sink plug which someone had stuck onto the sink and another one just loose by the tap's.Very dissatified customer.

This was the worse business trip experience I have had. The smell and cleanliness of the room was poor. The quality of the food was terrible and the price of the drinks was extremely high. An example, I was charge over £4 for a soft drink. The service from certain staff was poor, he offered some guest one option and when I asked for the same he claimed it was not available to order even though that guest told me what she was ordering.

The experience I had at this hotel was truly a complete disappointment. From start to finish, everything was problematic. When we entered the room, the cleanliness was absolutely inadequate, with serious hygiene issues. There was a strong dog smell in the rooms, and the elevator smelled extremely bad as well.

The staff were uninterested and far from being solution-oriented; whenever you raised a concern, they preferred to ignore it rather than help. Additionally, the equipment in the room was either not working or in very poor condition.

You definitely do not get what you pay for here. If you want a stressful experience instead of a relaxing stay, you can choose this place—otherwise, it is somewhere you should absolutely stay away from.

I strongly recommend choosing other alternatives if you don’t want to go through the same bad experience I had.

I had stayed here a few times over the last few years and never had a problem, however I am extremely disappointed with the stay this time
The bathrooms flooring was turned up and mouldy from where it has got wet. This is not my main concern as I appreciate this is a budget hotel.

The issue with this stay was no hot water. The shower was warm for around 2 minutes then went freezing cold. I waited 45 minutes for the water to reheat which it didn't and even the sink tap was freezing. In the end I had to boil the kettle for hot water and use a cup to rinse!

Even for a budget hotel this is not acceptable as I expect hot water to shower as a basic.

When I reported this when checking out I was told we could have given you another room - that would have been great had the water have not turned cold once I was already in the shower mid wash!

Very disappointed with the issue in the first place and then not doing anything other than making a note when the complaint was registered made it worse.

It's a shame as I most likely won't be returning. Especially given when I looked to book the best western up the road was only £14 more! Wish I had paid that now.

Friendlyness of the staff could be improved..
parking lot should be only for overnight guest, it was horrible. I understand is first come first serve, but anybody can go and just park and pay. Cars were occupying 2 spaces and others were not supposed to park in some areas and they did, making us trying to get out impossible.
In the morning of our check out, at 10am the housekeeping team knocked and ask like this:
At what time are you leaving? Without any hi! Or goodmorning, no respect or basic knowledge of hospitality.

This was my second stay at the hotel. I first visited last summer for leisure, and this time I came to escape the chaos of the city. I stayed for eight nights. The staff were friendly, and my room was clean throughout my stay. The hotel offers several restaurants and a café, along with a new vegan-friendly menu. The gym, pool, and sauna were all nice bonuses.

It’s a budget hotel, so you get what you pay for. The location is lively during the summer months, while winter is slow and quiet. There were a few minor issues, such as the hot water supply not always being steady. Overall, though, it was a decent place to stay

Check in is from 2:30 but rooms available from 4. We arrived at 5:30 and told we needed to wait 45 minutes because no rooms were clean. No empathy or apology for this.

The hotel is VERY tired and looks like it was decorated in the late 60’s. On entering the hotel there is a strong smell of smoke due to people
Congregating near there smoking.

The quality of fixtures and fittings is around one grade below a travel lodge everything is VERY basic. The rooms don’t even have towels for example.

The room was cheap and the location was good for us but despite this we wouldn’t return.

The hotel is in need of a complete renovation. The hallways are gloomy and have a prison feel. The wood chip needs to go, carpets replacing and the furniture updating. We were in a family room and transitted through many fire doors to get to our room. The room was large and sufficient, but only had 1 towel bundle for a single person.the water pressure is also woeful!

On a plus note it was cheap and the breakfast good. The staff were polite and parking only £5

So it's a budget hotel and that's okay... I've stayed before so knew that in advance and last time was fine. But this time was very bad. Basically a number of basic things wrong. Shower didn't work, i.e. I couldn't move the plunger from bath to shower head. When I did then water went everywhere. Then I found there was no hot water (night or morning) and was just running cold. Plus the shower gel and hand wash bottle were empty. Also the room was 13.5c when I got in and the heater wouldn't stay on. So I had to give up with heat. I was staying to get the Le Shuttle early the next morning, so I didn't need anything fancy. Sadly it was a terrible night sleep in the cold and no shower the next morning. I told a member of staff the next day and they were a bit disinterested. He said 'you should have asked as we have some shower gel here somewhere' - totally missed the point. Anyway, I sent the hotel a note to see if they would put it right and nothing came back. So seems like they don't really care which is a shame.

The room was clean .their was fresh towels.the staff were friendly. Good entertainment. Breakfasts was quite good .but the way the tea and coffee area was set out was not good .and i found the coffee and milk jugs heavy to lift.
