Amazing place to stay at. In the middle of the old town, close to all attractions. Very tastefully decorated and spacious rooms.
Staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Breakfast served is very fresh, tasteful and with great variety.
Highly recommend!!!

First, there is no elevator in this hotel so if your room is at the 4th floor, basically you climb 5 floors Bec reception is at the second floor.
Second, upon arrival, the receptionist would ask for your card number and they said they need it for future charge if we get anything the the room bar. I checked out 6am and there’s no receptionist yet so I left the keys at the counter. Around 10am I received a text from my credit card that the hotel charge me 750 KRNs. I am
So disappointed with charges that we didn’t consumed. They have to stop ripping off money from tourist when we entrusted our credit cards to them.

The only positive aspect of this hotel is its location, which is the sole reason for the one-star rating. The property is very old and poorly maintained, with absolutely no soundproofing—noise from outside and other rooms is constant. There is no elevator, which makes carrying luggage difficult, especially to upper floors. The rooms are very small and uncomfortable, and no staff offered any assistance with luggage or asked if help was needed. Considering the condition, lack of basic amenities, and level of service, the hotel is extremely overpriced. Overall, the stay was disappointing and not worth the cost.

Negative for management, hence giving average 3 stars.
I was traveling solo, booked by room in June for Nov stay. For first night I was given a smaller room in unfinished section of hotel in building adjacent to main hotel, which is under construction. The heater in the room did not work. I called and receptionist confirmed that it is not working but was not disclosed to me when giving me the room. After my complain manager came to fix, mocked at me saying 'toughen up'. The heat was set to highest, but still room didn't warm overnight. I gave bad review on Expedia for hotel checkin. Next morning around 8am, receptionist called to say giving me different room. It was right next to her desk, in main hotel building, and big room that I had paid for.
So beware when traveling alone, as they will try to squeeze you in tiny room even though you paid for a bigger room.
Room had robe, slippers, bath gel, shampoo and lotion. No shower curtain so bathroom gets wet after taking shower. Have to climb over high tub walls to get inside the shower area.
Management will try to add tip in the checkout bill. I don't like these sneaky practice. They should be only collecting tax, ask receptionist to remove the tip.
Hotel is in nice location, but I can't see staying there again due to shady management.

We booked a standard room and we got a twin room. They did nothing to help us other than offer us a room in a different location. As we were with friends this did not work for us. We paid 22euro for the breakfast which was a joke. Basically a breakfast that in other situation would and should be free. Do not pay for the breakfast. There are tons of lovely cafes all around the hotel

The location is very convenient? Just few steps from Karlov Bridge and 3 min. to Astronomical Clock and Old Town Main Square.
The Hotel is above restaurant and night bar. No elevator. The reception on second floor.
The breakfest offered in the restaurand down stairs for 23 Euro is not so satisfactory. Room is small, window opening on the busiest street - Karlov Street, so it always noisy, during day and night.
No Airconditioner in the room. The hotel is supplying big Ventilator, which is very noisy.
On top of that, the mattress definitely not new, not holding the back well, caused me back pain. I trying to be gentle :)
On the good side, the staff is very polite, welcome. The hotel is clean.

Nice old hotel with a perfect location. We book a room at the top floor which I think was a good idea. The breakfast was quite small and the hostess was more interesting of counting guests and ask for the room numbers instead of checking the buffe. Water was empty, coffe machine was empty, scrambled eggs was empty. No plates etc etc....

The area is very noisey from the music of the hotel restaurant downstairs. The music goes all day and doesn’t stop until 11:00pm.
Location is good walking distance to most of the sites.
The bathrooms had broken floor tiles, the shower head was leaking and the toilet seat was broken.
I wouldn’t recommend staying at this hotel.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The reception is up on the 2nd floor and the rooms are in another buildings. There is no lift and you have to carry your bags yourself. There is no help. And there is no air conditioning. The area is noisy.

Our stay here was pretty good. The location is great as it’s right by the Charles Bridge and many restaurants and transit options. The staff was good and we had no issues. The room was clean. The only problem we found was that the shower head was broken so the water didn’t come out properly.

The hotel had the Look and feel of Prague and food was great BUT room smelled like smoke and the dance nightclub nearby made it impossible to sleep. I even used ear plugs but there was a constant flow of drunk loud people outside. That was a huge disappointment.

Nice quant old hotel. If you want to experience an old world hotel feel in Old Prague, this is it. You are close to everything. You are also located on the main thoroughfare to the Charles Bridge. It's a very busy area late into the nite. If you have a room on the street side it will be quite noisy late into the evening. Also, if it's busy cars can not use the street in front of the main entrance, so it's a bit tricky to get dropped off by car service or taxi, just need to be aware of it.

Conveniently located right by Charles Bridge and a few blocks from old town. I was able to walk through the whole town with no problems to see the sites I wanted to visit. The staff was kind and the room was HUGE in comparison to what you’d typically get from a European hotel. If you are a sensitive sleeper, you have have trouble here with club goers outside most of the night.

I booked a standard room with king size bed one month in advance, but was assigned a room with twin beds. I arrived at the hotel around 8pm, and there was no frond-desk. The next morning I talked to the front desk that I'd like to change to the type of room that I booked, but was told that the change was not possible as the hotel was fully booked, but can put the twin beds together so that they'd look like a king-size bed. However, twin beds put together does not make a king-size bed.

I had booked a double for single occupancy and although the room did meet the criteria it was very small. Also it was in an adjacent building to the main hotel and was accessed by a dingy courtyard and the upper floor was quite obviously staff accommodation. On the plus side the bathroom was spacious and it was very quiet. At the time Prague was experiencing a heatwave and if it had not been for an electric fan being provided it would have been unbearable. Tea and coffee making facilities were appreciated.

They put me in room #14. That has to be one of the worst rooms in the hotel. It is facing the pedestrian walk. It is very noisy throughout the day but between 0200 and 0400 it gets very noisy when the drunks leave the bars.
Complaining to the staff the following morning was a waste of time. They couldn't care and refused to move me to another room.

This hotel is in a great location and I have to say that the staff are great people. I want to acknowledge, Ema, Sabina, and the Front desk manager who were extremely helpful and honest people. I left behind my wallet that carried my DL,credit cards,and 714.00 in US cash. They helped me retrieve my wallet and everything in it. I never doubted them because from the start the hotel was excellent for me. Thank you Ema, Sabina, and Manager.

The staff is incredible and helped me book a bunch of amazing experiences while in Prague when a couple of my tours got cancelled. The room was beautiful and comfortable however be aware that because it’s an older building you can hear the people in the other rooms walk and talk. It was worth that though because the hotel is in the middle of everything and a one minute walk from the bridge

I really loved the location. It was super super close to the Charles bridge. I could able to see by my window. Convince to walk to clock tower and train station as well. Also I liked room decoration. Paint and decoration were amazing. Front desk lady was so kind and explain us everything we needed. There’s club down stair so you will heard kinda loud sounds around 3am but it wasn’t really bother me especially I was tired after walked all day.

The apartment is located just beside the exit of Metro Staromestska and the reception is at the main hotel. The apartment is spacious and we really like it as we can know how the locals' interior house is. Wifi is good. The breakfast is at the main hotel and the choices are just good enough. The bathroom is abit difficult to take a shower and the water is easily to spill outside the bath tub. There were no shampoos provided but I think the housekeeping forgot to put. Kitchen with microwave and induction cooker are great too for those who wanna cook themselves. Overall, it's a pleasant stay and I will choose again this hotel if return.

Our room was so small that we had trouble maneuvering our suitcases.
People at the front desk were pleasant and professional, arranging boxed breakfasts for our departure and having a pre-arranged taxi for us. The location of this hotel was very convenient, as close to the Charles Bridge as you can get. If you are not fussy about room size or décor, this could be the place for you.

The hotel is situated in an excellent location, less than a minute walk from Charles Bridge, and 10 minutes from the old square and astronomical clock. The location makes the hotel great, however, the hotel staff and amenities are a big let-down. The hotel does not have a lift. Also no air conditioning, which made sleeping very uncomfortable, despite having the windows fully open. Additionally, the hotel have a club in the basement which is really “ugly” and late in the evenings you cannot enter the hotel as there are long queues to enter the club. The worst part of the hotel is the restaurant they have downstairs. The staff there are extremely rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. It seems like they are doing you a favour. They take your order; they bring cutlery to you by throwing these in the centre of the table. They then bring the bill and they do not want to hear anything else. For example, we were in group and we needed to split the bill – the person doing the bill kept saying that it was not possible. After a long chat he finally made us split the bill with different receipts, but he got everything wrong and charged everybody with different items we did not have. Also, we were little kicked out after we paid, we were told “please if you paid, go as you are blocking our way”. Extremely rude. Stay away from this restaurant, food is expensive, service is rubbish and the food is not really nice either.

Not a great start at check in, as the front desk concierge was not very accommodating and was somewhat short with us. The hotel check in is a couple blocks walk from the actual apartment, but upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised at how big and immaculately clean the place was. It was a large apartment with 2 bedrooms with very comfortable beds, and 1 large bathroom with a tub, and a smaller bathroom across the apartment with a toilet and sink. The large bay windows overlook the downtown area, and the apartment is just steps from many local bars and restaurants, making it extremely walkable. Overall the place is clean and spacious and conveniently located; albeit not to the check in desk.

The hotel is in a perfect location near the Charles Bridge.
It is decorated in a 16th/17th century style which gives it lots of charm.
Rooms were immaculate with TV (channels in various languages), mini bar, toiletries, hair dryer and extra towels.
Staff were friendly and helpful, especially when we asked to change rooms due to noise from outside.
Breakfast was served at a reasonable time and had plenty of choice.
My only minor complaint is that it seemed the radiators didn’t work properly as one room was cold and the other was very hot but this didn’t ruin my stay and would not stop me from staying here again.

Location is just a few steps away to Charles bridge which is great.
Service from bellboy, Oliver and reception, Peter was great.
Housekeeping however needs improvement. Heated towel railings were dusty and carpet of the flooring feels unclean..
Our room was at the highest floor and there is no elevator. Room was kinda small at the main building, couldnt open fully two 28inch luggages.

No elavator, has 4 stories. Shops, resturants, Charles bridge right outside your door. Cab cannot drive on the little street in front because too many people walling on it. You get dropped off about 100 yards away and drag your bags on cobblestone street. Besided that great location. A little loud since their is a club in the building open late.

Остановилась в отеле на четыре ночи,для меня это были важные дни моей жизни,я отмечала свое сороколетие.Ни одного комплимента от отеля 4 звезды.Вечером ,перед ужином решила выпить шампанское привезенное с собой, чистая посуда в номере оказалась грязной,обратилась на рецепшен поменять ,но так и не дождалась чистого фужера.
Отель не плохой ,но для 4 звезды работники отеля не внимательны к своим гостям.
Окна моего номера выходили на центральную улицу и шум который был днем меня не смущал .Номер в котором я проживала должны продаваться со огромной скидкой или предупреждать что под окном курилка.Я не курю и к людям которые курят отношусь нормально, но спать в курилке это было ужасным, постоянно стоял дым и запах сигарет ВСЮ НОЧЬ курили у меня под окном.
P.S. Спасибо работникам рецепшен что подсказывали маршруты Праги.И хочу отметить молодую официантку с летние площадки, имя ее не запомнила, но она девочка яркая блондинка с короткой стильной стрижкой, умница!

It's in a 500-year old buildin, so I did not expect modern perfection or anything. This is the type of experience I chose. But in the heat of this summer - which is about the worst in history - I did not note that there is NO AIR-CONDITIONING! While the hotel is about 120 metres from the city end of Charles Bridge - unbelievably central - it is rather noisy due to the hordes of visitors in the street at all hours of the day, which caused me to shut my bedroom window, which overlooked the main pedestrian street outside. Not good when there is no AC.. I am sure it is very comfortable in the other three seasons.

We checked in expecting a king bed, and yet were given keys to a room on the 4th floor, (there is no lift), with two twins. We went downstairs to remind the front desk manager that we'd paid for a room w/a king bed, he mentioned the hotel was sold out and that if we wanted a king bed it would be in a different building. We took it having no other choice.

There is a night club in the same building as the hotel, possibly run by the hotel, and when entering the hotel it is necessary to pass the entrance of the night club. When I arrived at the hotel at 23:00 it was very noisy, and someone threw a plastic cup out on the street. I proceeded to enter the hotel, and one of the bouncers stood right in my path, blocking my way with force. I told him I am a guest of the hotel, and he kept repeating ”Hello” with a smug look on his face, while continuing to block the stairs to the hotel. It looked like he thought the whole situation was funny, and he kept giving me a smug look, as I continued up the stairs, after finally allowing me to pass. I strongly discourage anyone from staying at a hotel that share the same entrance with a night club, and where you have to pass bouncers, who obviously make no distinction between hotel guests and would-be night club patrons. Not only that, but it seems at least one of the bouncers enjoys humiliating guests of the hotel.

We somehow booked an apartment through this hotel and didn't realize it was in a different spot until after we had booked it. But we decided to just go with it. We are so glad we did. It was still a great location - we actually like the apartment location better because it was a little off the main touristy street so quieter. The staff was friendly and helpful and even helped us to book a cab to get to the airport on our way out of town. Breakfast was great too!

Good hotel in a great location

Hotel has a fantastic location in the heart of the old town just off the Charles Bridge. Rooms are comfortable and of a general food overall standard. Our mini bar fridge did not work but we had no intention of using it anyway.
I was slightly disappointed on arrival at not getting a room within a street view as I had emailed in advance requesting this however the reception staff were apologetic and offered us a complimentary drink in the bar which was nice.
Breakfast was served in the restaurant and was of a good standard. We requested boiled eggs which were not on the buffet and this was not a problem.
All in all, I would definitely return to this hotel next time I am in Prague.

Great Hotel from which to Explore Prague

The Hotel U Zlateho Stromu is situated at the east end of the Charles Bridge on the busy tourist thoroughfare of Karlova (pedestrianised for most of its length).
The hotel is in a 400 years old building and has some of the foibles one might find in such a building.....no lift (elevator) and some uneven stairs. However, for the fit traveler these problems are overcome by the beauty of this building and its interior design. The rooms are large and have an old world charm, which it is almost impossible to find in many hotels. Each room is individually decorated and furnished and the overall feel is that of a boutique hotel at a fraction of the price. All rooms are en-suite and have fresh towels and bed linen. Flat screen televisions, mini bar (which can also be used to store your own food and drinks), in-room safe, and a comfortable seating / table area make the accommodation very comfortable. The staff warned us of night-time noise from the street, which we did hear on occasion, but was not too problematic. They place fresh ear-plugs in each room and the windows are double glazed to cut down noise.
The hotel has a small dining area and cafe bar attached. Breakfast was an extensive buffet, with hot and cold dishes.....including juices, fresh fruit, yogurt, cold cuts, cheeses, salad, hot bacon, eggs, sausage, fresh breads and rolls.
The hotel is right in the heart of old Prague with all the major sites just minutes away.

Charming, comfortable and great value

The hotel was perfect for our stay. We are in Europe for a month and are looking for charm, comfort and value...this hotel had all 3! The breakfast buffet was wonderful and appealed to us both. If you want a quiet stay me sure you take a room in the courtyard as the night club patrons can be noisy on the street below as they come out to smoke.

Nice clean hotel with quaint rooms and very well located. Unfortunately the nightclub downstairs meant I was kept awake until at least 4 am with patrons shouting outside. Ruined my stay.

Couldn’t control room temperature.. needed to open windows all the time but it’s to an extremely loud pedestrian street. It’s a good location considering that but issue was the insane heat that’s always blasting but if you open the windows you hear everyone in the street. Check the bed side drawers for the ear plugs the hotel provides :).

we've requested early check in. I know it is depends on availability.
We arrived at the Hotel 7 am which was way too early I get it. there was no vacant room per receptionist. I have asked him to have me a room anything comes first he said there might chance around 12 pm -1 pm because checkout time is 11 am.

Came back to the hotel at 11 am. No luck.
Came back to the hotel at 1 pm still no luck. This time another guy showed up and speak to the receptionist in Czech and told us check in is strictly 3 pm. no way to get in early.

only thing I liked about this hotel is location which is very close to the Charles Bridge.
Other than that. I would never go this one again.

There is a strip club in the hotel...

Would not recommend for a business or a family trip. When booking I filtered out \"apart\" hotels. Still, I was given a room in a different building than the hotel... I had 3 different keys to open 4 different doors... And to get to a breakfast you have to dress of is cold outside (which it was). On the other hand being in other building could be a good thing as the hotel rubs a strip club (!?) -which they call \"music club\" - in the same building... Had I known this in advance, I would not have booked a room there. Apart from that - service is good but the breakfast is too basic considering the price and 4 stars status. Best part is the location, but this is not so important for a business trip.

Beautiful old hotel in an incredible location. Delicious breakfast; nice bathroom and large comfortable bed. Loved the painted ceilings and spaciousness of room. Carpets badly need cleaning, and stairs are so worn they are difficult to navigate for anyone with any walking/climbing difficulty. Yummy breakfast, as we have found in most European hotels. On a street that is a 24/7 party scene, so be warned. Also very, very hot, even with fan, but had to keep windows closed due to street noise all night. Attentive and helpful staff.

The location is pretty unbeatable if you want to be close to all the sites & in the heart of the city. Service was good & friendly. Only had 3 downfalls: 1) WiFi was pretty spotty, 2) Non-smoking rooms still smelled like smoke, I'm assuming it is because there is a bar downstairs & it is an older historical building, so some of it might be remnants from previously smoking rooms. 3) Can be a bit noisy at night since it is on the main drag & sometimes tourists are loud in the streets late at night.
If those aren't issues for you the rooms were nice & the location was great.

Nice Hotel, Very noisy at night due to location!

Nice hotel, most staff seemed grumpy and unfriendly - the two ladies I encountered at the front desk were very kind, one of them helped me to ring my private transport, very helpful. The other guys at the front desk were very uninviting however.
The room itself was very pretty and the bed comfortable, I did spend my whole time constantly worrying about bed bug however as on arrival I found a bug on the pillow, but I don't believe this is the case - The ladies come into change my bed sheets and clean my room everyday, fresh towels and wash clothes provided.
Very good location - right next to Charles bridge and a short walk to the astronomical clock. in a perfect place!

Best location possible

Walk off Charles bridge and you have arrived at this hotel. Absolutely perfect location. Only downfall was no lift and we missed the fireworks as we weren't aware it was a public holiday the afternoon we arrived. Would have been even more perfect if hotel staff had told us to expect fireworks that night

Excellent place to stay in Prague. Literally just yards away from the famous Charles Bridge. The hotel restaurant is very good too.
Breakfast is included and it is excellent.
No direct car access, but you can sneak close to it.

Our hotel room overlooked the main passagway in old town. Great location and a bit loud with the people coming and going in the street, if your a light sleeper, do not stay here. 10,000.00 people walk by outside a day and at night till 1 or 2 am. However, the noise from the street did not compare to the noise of the lobby and the bar down stairs. Do not take a room near the lobby and do not use there taxi service, it is 200-300 Koruna more than any other company.

Great location! In the middle of all the action. I suggest ear plugs. People are partying most of the night and are fairly loud. It's to be expected do to the excellent location. Ear plugs worked perfect. I wouldn't change a thing! Great view of the Charles bridge. And great aromas from the restaurants below us.

Very nice hotel. Great location. Very nice breakfast.
Only disadvantage is that the room was a bit noisy (at least ours which was on the 1st floor) because you could hear people shouting and singing late at night. The might have come to the hotel bar.
Only on the 3rd night did we notice the ear plugs that were placed in the drawers.

Another thing that I wish to point out is that we asked for a car to take us back to the airport and asked twice about the price. However the driver insisted on taking more. So make sure.

Great location, classic charm

Stick your head out the window and see the Charles Bridge. The hand-painted room were charming. The included breakfast was good.

Wi-fi tended to work only in the mornings when few people would be accessing it. There was noise outside our open window during the night, but not enough to keep us awake.

With the charm and location, this was the best value we have found in a hotel. (We travel about 100 days a year.)
