Disaster. Stay away.
They have spent a lot of money and efforts on fancy things but some basic needs are overlooked and unmet.

Room: Outside temp was 10-12 degrees as we visited in December and inside the room it was 27 degrees, we could not sleep. We had to change rooms at 4 am. The new room was 17 degrees. So basically the AC/heat system does not work. A lot of space was wasted due to poor interior design, we had the microwave/fridge in the middle of the room which made it look smaller. The lighting was very weird, either too bright or nothing. The bed kept creaking with a simple toss or turn, very uncomfortable.

Bathroom: The bathroom is extremely slippery with extra smooth tiles which is a safety hazard and the shower is not covered completely which allows water to overflow in the rest of the bathroom and the soap stand is so close that it’s inconvenient and can cause injury. There is no conditioner, only shampoo(but this is across most hotels in Spain)

Amenities: The amenities are good but the time restrictions are not. Gym is open 24 hours, hot tub-sauna is from 11 am to 7 pm, which is a very weird time, if you are a tourist and sightseeing during the day you probably won’t be able to use the spa and hot tub which was disappointing for me.

Good things:
They provided dental kits, robe, slippers and umbrella which is nice.

The heating/AC was broken so the room was cold. It meant a cold night's non sleep. Almost all of the lights didn't work.
The lights got fixed but the heating didn't, so moved to a new room. One light stayed permanently on - had to remove the card from the slot to turn it off. Shower was terrible - over the bath with a very stiff heating control, and the temperature varied widely from ok to very hot to very cold without my touching anything.

Staff member was unable to open the pool in the morning as they were ill. Nobody was sent in his place. I informed reception and they sent someone who faffed around with the door for another half an hour trying to open the door with the wrong key. In total I waited over an hour in the morning for them to open the only facility they had open (or were meant to have open). In the end the guy gave up and this wasted my time on holiday and the time of nearly 20 other hotel guests. Was livid about this and spoke to reception - person was unapologetic and I should’ve pushed further for a partial refund but didn’t have the fight in me.

There is no privacy in the bathroom because there is a window between the room and bathroom and the curtain they put is not thick enough for privacy. Nobody want to be seen by his/her freind while doing his job in the toilet or having a shower naked.

Everything was great from check in to check out. We were treated well and the front desk and housekeeping staff were always friendly. The room was very clean and I even received a complimentary gift for my Birthday!! I was blown away by the quality of service given by Hotel SB Diagnal Zero!! I would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Barcelona!

Exactly what we needed.

Beautiful hotel, away from the hustle of downtown Barcelona but right next to a Metro and a Taxi hub. Also just down the street from a huge Mall. Great service, clean rooms, extremely comfortable beds. Rooftop pool, spa, gym. It was perfect.

1. Checked in early and were told to return at 3 pm, which we did. When we returned, we had to wait another 45 minutes just to get the room key because of a long line and under-staffing.
2. Asked a male front-desk staffer - the morning of June 22 - if the hotel provided beach towels. The response was quite rude: “No, and you are prohibited from using the room towels.” It seems like the staffer skipped the Courtesy 101 class.
3. The design of the room is worst I’ve experienced in 45 years of traveling. The bathroom has a window that allows others to look in even when you lower the window screen. Also, a book shelf inexplicably juts into the middle of the room. I ran into the shelf while attempting to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, resulting in bloody gash and a black eye. I’ll take responsibility for not being more careful, but I’m certain I’m not the only guest ever to experience this mishap.
4. At checkout, the front desk staffer didn’t ask about my stay. I hadn’t complained about any of the above so there was no way for her to know that my three-night stay had not met my expectations.
The hotel is in a great location directly across from the beach in the Poble Nou neighborhood. It’s probably the only aspect of this hotel I would recommend to fellow travelers. Otherwise, you would be better off staying somewhere else.

Stay a way from them,
While waiting to check out, one of our friends bag was stolen in the lobby,
Every day there was a security guy trying to checking our behavior and the day we checked out, there was nowhere to be found.
I believe it was inside job since the managment would not help at all,
we called the police and they saw a person with the CCTV
coming in and getting the bag and leaving from the hotel as he works there.
My friend hand bag, was stollen with everything on it,
the phone, envelope, passport, CC, it was unbelievable experience, Saturday morning, embassy was closed, so inconvenient to find the way to travel.
Incredibly suspicious and I would stay a way from this hotel.

A pleasant stay at this hotel, clean and comfortable with great facilities. Location is slightly further away but there is a tram and metro station close by.

Rooms were a little noisy as you could hear the noise in the corridors very clearly, other than that though a stay I’d recommend.

Excelente ubicación por fácil acceso y a un minuto caminando para llegar a diversos medios de transporte, Un Centro Comercial exelente para toda necesidad e igual a un minuto caminando, a dos cuadras se encuentra el malecòn, calles tranquilas, la relación costo-beneficio de la habitación muy buena. The rooms are in a poor overall state, the door needs to be slammed for it to close properly, and even then the lock required fiddling for it to work
The bathroom wasn't cleaned before my arrival (it was not properly flushed, so there was urine from the previous occupant), and the activation mechanism worked poorly.
I would not stay here again.

My 15th times in this hotel

first of all the lobby staff is amazing... internet is very bad if you need to use it like on computer.....also got a new towel and soap every day even though they have a info on how to be eco friendly but seem housekeeping doesn't know about it... also got a new slippers couple of times even I didn´t ask .... but the spa is getting so bad... have been staying in this hotel so many times... because of the location. when i came first... the spa was amazing ... you could go to sauna and steam room.. now it is like always cold or out of order for last 2 years...and the relax room cant be relax room because it has so much noise from the jacuzzi which is running all the time ... it was not on timer like in old days where you started it with a button .... now its is runs all the time with so much noise,,, they have no massage on premises you have to order it and its come from other place... so the spa is nothing like it was about 8 years ago...

the lounge on the 12 floor is also getting very bad... in the beginning it was a cool place like in afternoon they service like wines and beers and also some spirits... now its all gone... just come soft drink and snack... and the lounge is getting bad... the couches have been gone some of them.. .and now they are telling me it will be closed this summer to have more rooms... like maybe 2 to 4 rooms ???? why don´t they have it like many other hotels in neighborhood and have a nice lounge...

I had traveled for 15 days in a row. Staying at different hotels each night. This was the best one of the 15. We stayed in hotels ranging between $100-$250 a night. We paid around $160. For this one. Great food. Best thin pillows. Very modern design with great lighting accents.

On our first night we arrived at 8pm and checked in to our room. We noticed it was 25° even though the AC was set to 19° we phoned reception and they said they would take a look on their end and to give it 10mins. We waited and rang again with no improvement, they said they would take a look at it. We left to get dinner and came back a few hours later and the room was 24.5°. The next morning we informed the staff and they said someone would take a look in the day and it would be fixed for the night. When we got back 12 hours later we noticed it was still really warm in the room so went down and explained. The receptionist said he wasn’t sure if it got seen to in the day but maintenance had left for the evening. After some back and forth he reluctantly gave us a new room and no assistance or compensation for the moving rooms. The second room we tried the AC did work but even on full it wasn’t very good and the room was still quite warm when trying to sleep.
Additionally water and coffee isn’t replenished by housekeeping so we had to go to the local shop to buy a bottle of water to drink, which wasn’t ideal after a long day out.

Super convenient to reach the Forum. Room was very nice and spacious, and all the staff were great too. Didn't use the spa, but the pool in the rooftop albeit small was really good.
The only complaint I would have is the shower/bath was very slippery and dangerous, so elder customers might need to be very careful.

Nice, small hotel. Near Metro for access to Old Town and its Cathedrals and shops. Area around hotel is not picturesque per se although it is close to a beach. I liked the outside main floor garden equipped with a bar on the inside and outside. Staff was courteous and the room was clean however basic.

The front desk was not helpful and had \"no personality\" upon check in ir during our stay. Thanks God breakfast experience made the whole difference. Augus and Javi knew \"how to smile\" and how to be pleasant. Front Desk staff would not acknowledge when people were waiting to be helped and at instances I just stood in there while two clercks were having a conversation about personal matters ( I say personal matters because I speak fluent spanish and I understood the whole thing ). The bathroom is what I disliked the most. The tub has no safety mat and it is very slippery when wet. Also there is a \"shelf\" inside the tub on the right shower that hit my arm and shoulder every time I shower. Also why would you have inside the shower: Shower Gel/Shampoo/Body Lotion - instead of a Conditioner??? I am glad I did not put body lotion in my hair after the shampoo HAHA.
There was a lot of noise outside my door on our first day ( I was not informed of it ). Very good for overall price.

The window between the bathroom & bedroom is bizarre & awkward unless traveling with your signific other. Why does anyone need/ want to see into the bathroom while their travel partner is bathing or sitting on the toilet??!!

This hotel was the worst hotel experience I have experienced around the world. The staff was rude, impolite, and racist. The worst of all was the manager Daniel. He was rude, racist, and threatened to call the police on me as I was on the phone with Expedia to remove me from the hotel after the housekeeping went through my items twice.

I told him that I did not appreciate how he was speaking to me, and he told me he didn't care. His staff beneath him was just as rude and unhelpful. Emphasis on his staff member Laura.

My room door would not properly lock, and could be opened without a door key. Then they moved me to a smoking room. Then after being moved, the housekeeping went through my things twice. I complained about it multiple times, and they did not care.

PLEASE, do not stay here. You will be in danger, and you will be treated like you are less then. To be treated like I was a criminal was so disheartening, and literally this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at globally.

DO not stay here. I beg of you.

For a 4 star I expected more.

For a 4 star I expected more. The hotel is falling apart, very poorly maintained. My wife had some clothing items stolen from the spa locker room. Reception staff very helpful and kind.

Location is nice but this hotel is not worth the price, I will consider different options next time I’m in Barcelona.

Well the property cost me roughly 100 pounds per night and i specifically booked it for the pool. Upon arrival i was told the pool is under maintenance and offered two complimentary drink vouchers for the bar. Which i dont think equates to have an important amenity not functioning for the duration of my stay.

It was frustrating as i could have booked a hotel for a fraction of the price, without a pool around santa mari.

The breakfast is great. The location was great for me, not in the city center but next to the CCIB. There is also a shopping mall very close. The thing is that the technical service was poor. Our door didn’t lock up and they didn’t fix it for a week. The door key didn’t work properly till the last day (they kept chancing our card but it was quite a hassle). The air conditioner didn’t work properly in the first day and it took them several hours to fix it. They proposed to us to have change the room to a same type of room, with no promise that everything will work properly, so my wife decline it. We have stayed a this hotel several years ago and than it was in a better condition. I hope that they will be able to fix those problems because the hotel has great potential.

Because of mixed reviews I was worried, I found the place to be clean and safe. The washroom area was very new in appearance and spotless, housekeeping kept it that way during my stay. Floors in rest of bedroom area replaced with laminate, not typical for North American but is for EU, again clean and bed was great. I was at Forum area for conference and would recommend to anyone who is doing same.
For value it was outstanding.
Getting to Rambla is a Subway transfer, it Tram/subway away. Could walk if you have time but sun was hot, take the transportation. There are lots of cabs across street from hotel, they were great too.
