The room was horrible n cramped!!
Everything in the entire building is Sooo Dark n Black you can’t see anything or even find space for ur luggage.
The bed is in a hole with no way around it!
Worst of all there is no AC at all so you are in a sweat house room.
The Worst Hotel accommodations in 3 weeks of NZ travel.
Horribly uncomfortable place! Never stay there Dear Reader!!

In all aspects bar one it was excellent.

The only issue was that the room needed aircon. It was quite hot in there. Had to open window but it was quite noisy outside, including one car that may have even crashed in middle of night.

Really great hotel and location, parking is awesome. Unfortunately having no way to cool the room down apart from the provided fans really brought the overall stay down for us. I don't know how people have a comfortable stay in the middle of summer. Having no air conditioning would be fine maybe if the windows were able to open more. The windows only open a slither so it feels like the fan can't really circulate any cool air. Really nice hotel otherwise if this is not something that concerns you but would personally not come back for this one reason.

The interior of this place is very cool but the interior wasn't enough for us to book this again. There isn't any air con in the rooms, just a fan, the internet connection was terrible and kept dropping out while on work calls then the TV and the coffee machine didn't work. We unfortunately won't be coming back.

Amazing! Excellent location, spacious, immaculate, lovely view of a beautiful courtyard, and walkable to Univ of Auckland within 15 minutes. Great kitchen complete with silverware, plates, cups, many teas, coffee, and milk chocolate. I had a dining room separate from the bedroom and it was like being in a classy apartment.

Bathroom and sinks were small, the gym was tiny, and the laundry room washers and dryers were free but constantly crowded.

I chose Abstract Hotel based on the photos and positioning, which suggest a design-forward boutique stay. Unfortunately, the reality didn’t align with that expectation.

The room appeared styled at first glance, but the quality felt unconsidered, rather than a genuinely well-executed space. Finishes, materials and overall comfort didn’t match the branding or advertisement material.

In addition, key details e.g. lack of air conditioning and safe, were not prominently disclosed.

Service was adequate but minimal. Staff were polite, however not particularly proactive. I was required to store and retrieve my own luggage and carry it into the storage room myself, which reinforced the overall feeling of limited service.

For transparency to future guests, the surrounding neighbourhood is also worth noting. The immediate area (\"K-road\") felt neglected and uninviting, including noticeable odours on arrival. While this may be outside the hotel’s control, it does materially impact the experience, particularly when returning in the evening.

Overall, the main disappointment was the gap between marketing and reality. With stronger execution and clearer disclosure, the stay could feel more aligned with its positioning.

As it stands, I wouldn’t choose to return nor would I recommend this hotel.

Clean and comfortable, well equipped. Great location. They use some kind of sweet chemical scent in the room which I personally prefer not to have. Natural is best.
Bed was super comfortable though sharp bed edges stick out and hit my leg more than twice during the stay. No aircon, only fan. Guess that's due to Auckland's weather not unbearably hot but good to know if you are booking in summer.
It was well priced for a mid range urban accommodation.
I could hear next door through the bedroom wall as there was a very loud obnoxious child being bossy to their parents in the next room. I'm sure the avrage treveller won't be a noise issue.
I will be back for the price and location and the comfort it offers. They upgraded my stay to larger, park facing room which I so appreciate.

The room was clean and while compact was practical and well apportioned. My only observation would be that while it had a kitchenette with a small stove, there was nothing to cook with. The restaurant on site was nice and all the staff were exceptional. Highly recommend this Hotel - its located near enough to Auckland Central to quickly walk in but far enough to be removed from all the roadworks and hustle and bustle.

The only 4.5 star hotel in Auckland without AC. My room was over 30 degrees- it was unbearable. This hotel hides the fact they don’t have AC by sneaking in the room description that a fan is provided. No where do they say that means no AC. I travel around NZ for work and I’ve never had such a terribly hot room. AVOID!!

The room itself was nice and clean and the the hotel is nice! I was a bit disappointed with the kitchen “utensil pack” it was really basic so meant you couldn’t really cook anything, even a basic colander would have helped! Aside from that the staff were nice and overall pleasant stay!

I have to admit, there were some reviews that mentioned the word stuffy that had me concerned. I had the One Bedroom Metro Unit and it was wonderful. Two windows that opened and a Dyson Fan next to the bed. I had no issues and was very comfortable. The room size was very nice with a kitchen and table and a couch separate from the bedroom. No issues with noise, it was very quiet and the neighborhood was very walkable and close to the bus drops which i used from the airport. It worked out very well and I was very happy there.

Abstract is very convenient to K street, although K street is not what it used to be. It's also very convenient to public transport. It is outside of the city and with a 5 min bus ride you are downtown. The kitchen area was the best to have! I could heat up leftovers or cook I wanted. The breakfast buffet is alright. They serve the same thing everyday and coffee is extra. I didn' t like that bit. The staff is very helpful and the hotel is clean. There should be a better way to cool the room at night. If I left the curtain open, the cool air would come in but so would the light from the street lights. That makes it hard to sleep. I would stay here again but I'd also like to try a different hotel.

Otherwise staff were efficient & friendly. The area was noisy with beggars on the streets. The tariff was reasonable, but you got what you paid for.

Hotel takes a 200 dollar Security deposit which I didn't know would happen which severely affects funds for this trip and also it takes days to get back? In an age if instant transfer this is not acceptable and now I am going to a different part of new Zealand and a different hotel what if they ask the same that previous 200 will not be in my account

Relatively good area - quiet, safe and lots of dining options nearby. Was a bit far from the CBD and harbour area which wasn't too much of a problem except for the long, uphill walk back to the hotel at the end of the day.
Room was small but functional and pretty clean - albeit a bit dusty. The sink in the bathroom was very narrow and close to the mirror which meant it was hard to get through the morning and evening routines without creating a bit of a splashy mess. Overall, good stay, nice and helpful staff - would stay again.

First night absolute disaster got no sleep walls had no sound proofing had no sleep due to coughing neighbour. Talked to staff who then moved our rooms without any hesitations and we then had the most peaceful wonderful stay. Really peaceful and comfortable.

The Abstract hotel is modern very clean with great reception and lounge areas. Perfect location for my plans. Were upgraded to one bed suite that was roomy and well equipped. While there is fan forsed ventilation air con would be expected. Room fashionably dark but this did hinder experiance. Shower very good. Will stay again.

I loved the price. The staff were all so friendly. I loved the decor. We unfortunately chose the wrong room for us. Excellent that you provide these tiny rooms tho . We are in our late 70’s and getting up and down out of a bed surrounded by 3 walls, was hilarious and difficult. A good place !

What was good, clean, modern, a little funky. What was bad, the bed is wedged between 2 walls if you are over 6 foot you will not fit, if you are a light sleeper the noise from adjacent rooms may impact you. There is also a fan that runs 24/7 loud enough to keep you awake. There is a cooktop and microwave but nothjng to cook with. The area around the hotel near K Road can be a little unsettling at night.

The Abstract was one of the very best deals for the price of anywhere I’ve stayed. The room was clean, and had a small kitchenette. The Italian Restaurant on the ground floor was exceptional, with breakfast included with the price of my room. Their best breakfast I ate for free was smoked salmon on sautéed potato cakes with poached eggs on top: delicious. Many great restaurants and coffee shops were within a five minute walk including Pici restaurant, White Lady Burgers and Millers Coffee. I will definitely consider staying there again.

The property was nice however our room had extremely poor lighting, it was too dark and the lighting was hitting us directly in the face. There were no lamps to turn on and no dimmers to adjust the brightness. Also no bedside tables to put our phones on. For the price of the room, I thought this wasnt great as most affordable accommodation has this.

Comfortable, affordable and beautiful hotel

Clean, comfortable and compact room for affordable pricing. Close to the power station where we were going for a concert. Downstairs Italian restaurant is amazing. Food was delicious in a cost atmosphere. Regarding parking, be careful to first pickup your parking ticket before actually going parking because then you don't get the discounted price. We felt this was not very obvious from the instruction email pre check-in. Otherwise would recommend.
