There is a convenient shop next to the building but closes at about 9pm. Restaurants and other shopping places are little bit far – about 15 to 20 min walk. Train stations including “The Strand Station” are little bit far and need taxi. Only street parking is available and free between 6pm and 8am. All other time need to pay for parking (about 4NZD per hour). Very helpful reception and accommodate late check-in (about 10pm). Reception staff given us good useful information about the area. Wifi is available but need to pay to use.

The only downfall was that the bathroom was falling apart. Other than that it was an excellent stay. Everyone was super friendly including guests and it was a very convenient location for what we needed having small children with us. They thought they were queens being on the top most floor!! You get what you pay for with this accommodation—ideal for budget travelers looking for a no-frills room with a bed. The area primarily caters to students, so it has a bit of a dormitory vibe. The bed was decent, but the shower was small and had a curtain instead of a door. The room could have used an extra cleaning, as there was a strange smell that required us to open the windows for ventilation. That said, for a one-night stay at this price, I can't complain. The location in Auckland is excellent, close to Queen Street.

Great central location, walkable to downtown Auckland and all it has to offer... However, lots of hills, so bring your good legs lol... Parking is kinda spendy, be prepared... Staff was very helpful and friendly, room was clean and welcoming and nicely appointed... Vending machines as well as a convenience store and burger restaurant on site... Enjoyed my stay!

Wasn’t to bad. Bed was really uncomfortable, like all springs. Pillows were very flat. Place was clean and tidy. No atmosphere really. Walls were very thin so you could hear the conversations in the next room. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Elevator to the 19th floor was a bit crunchy lol. There wasn’t much a round the area. We ended up ubering everywhere as it seems to be down a hill in a no exit. It was fine, a roof over my head for the night. Can’t complain.

While this was very central the apartments kitchen and bathroom was disgusting and dirty. We chose not have a shower there as it was so filthy. The good things was the bed was comfortable and the sheets where clean. The room needs redecorating as it is old and badly maintained.

This place was good for the price and when i initially saw the 19th floor i was quite surprised that it was modern and appeared clean. However there were long hairs in the bed and the toilet leaked onto the floor and created a big puddle. Thankfully my flat mate is handy and so was able to turn off the mains.

This place is a dive. It is old and dirty, the place smells. The staff are rude to people, I witnessed a staff member yelling at a guest when the guest was making an inquiry. The lifts are so dodgy, with each ride you hope that it doesn't break down and that you don't get trapped. Only stay here if you are desperate and cannot find anywhere else to stay.

Not good. Very noisy place. Construction site opposite makes loud noises before 6am in morning. Late at night, men and women shouting, laughing and screaming. After 9 nights there, we developed panda eyes. Staff weren't very nice either.

We found a bloody tissue in our bed sheets and can only assume this means that the sheets weren't changed after the prior guests. When the sheets were replaced the replacement sheets were covered in yellow stains.

Acommodations were acceptable and actually a good value for the price. Location is excellent, however, the major construction/renovation work on the 2 towers across the street took away from the experience. Very loud noise from early and lasting all day. Also, the many work vehicles took up all of the parking spaces on the street and even blocked the building entrance to cars and shuttles. Very annoying.

Property does not have parking and when asked the receptionist , they mentioned they have only 4 parking which needs to be pre-booked . If this is the case , it should have mentioned to the customer before hand which would have helped to decide whether to go for the property or not

We got a 3 bedroom apartment. The lounge and dining area was a bit small. So was the 3rd bedroom.The worst thing was the noise from outside the apartment. We stayed on Saturday and Sunday nights. Aside from traffic noise, there was big party in one of the other apartment complexes in the area. There was loud music and noise of party goers till after 2.30am. I was not able to sleep even though I was so worn out from my travel.

The Empire Apartments shouldn't be listed with the Hotels. It is more of a shared hostel. There is no parking and the service is non-exsistent. Decent accomodation if you are just looking for somewhere to sleep.

Apartments were tidy and fine, but there wasn't any air-conditioning or even a fan in the room, which was quite stuffy. Also the bedside lamp had no light bulb, and when I needed to check out promptly at 8am when the desk was supposed to open so I could make it to an appointment, there was no one there, I waited as long as I could until 8:10 and finally just had to leave my key and hope for the best.

It's ok if all you need is a bed for the night. It's definitely not a place to go for a romantic getaway! The showers have tiny heads and are positioned very low; I'm only average height but had to duck to get my hair wet. There is no free wifi, and the TVs are tiny - smaller than most computer screens these days! The lifts are slow and on one of them the doors often wouldn't close. The furniture is tatty and old, there is no iron (so not ideal if you are travelling for work or an event) and the kitchenette in my unit actually put me off cooking, despite that being my intent when booking. Cleanliness wasn't horrendous but the walls had splatter in the kitchen and bathroom so it definitely could be better. I don't think I'll ever stay there again, but if you just need a cheap bed for the night it's passable - depending on your own standards of course!

Unfortunately we were on the 19th floor and with only 1 small lift working for a very busy place there was always a wait and short line to get up to our room. Paid $15 for a park on the street and didn't appreciate the \"ticket\" being an A4 piece of paper that displayed my full name, room number, and mobile number. Needles to say I folded it down to fewer details.

Basis, clean, no frills, cheap and cheerful. Check in was a little disjointed as I had booked 2 rooms, and the second room had been put under the second name, even though I was paying, so I paid for one room then had to start again for the seciond room. They seem surprised - and I had made the booking for both rooms together. They only gave me one room card for the second room, and then when I checked out, again, seem surprised because they \"always\" gave out 2 cards. Well, no. These were minor niggles, and didn't affect our stay. Luckily, we were out all day and just slept in the rooms, as there's nowhere comfortable to sit, but you get what you pay for. I'd taken some students to a 2 day conference at the Uni, so it was ideal for that - as I said, cheap, clean and certainly handy for where we were going. For a similar group, I'd book again, but not for a \"couples\" stay.
