There was water damage and leakage on the ceiling by the vent. There was mildew in the shower. The first two days the electric in the room was want working and even though we were told we would be getting our room moved the front desk went back on their word to Expedia and wouldn’t move us. The mildew caused my son to get sick. People were smoking in the rooms despite it being non smoking and the hallways smelled of smoke.

The room is not the same as it is portrayed in the photos. Much much smaller. Additionally, I booked for two twin beds, and they assigned me a room with 2 twin beds pushed together to make a king. When I separated them myself, it left even less space in the rest of the room. There are photos of rooms with 2 beds separated so I’m not sure why I couldn’t get that room with the beds I booked.
Also even though I paid in full I got “tourist tax” at the front desk that was apparently non negotiable upon checkin.

Property vibes is like old classics style building which is good but if you are considering to come in hot weather and expecting air conditioner its a BIG NO. always this property is not really a walking distance from popular attractions and its not a value for money stay. Maximum you should pay £50-60 per night if you are coming in april or may. Breakfast is normal nothing special

Does what it says on the tin, and very well

I stayed two days at this hotel, as an unplanned situation, and in spite of reviews around the net, it was just fine!

The location is quite unbeatable within walking distance of the National Museum and main pedestrian avenue, and railway station. Relevant tram station is I P Pavlova.

Yes, maybe it is not a 4-* hotel in the Western sense, but if you go in with 3* expectations, which their price point matches, it is more than fine.

The room was cozy and surprisingly quiet even at street level; everything was clean and fresh; there were basic toiletries (of the stuck to the wall kind); a working table with chair; a mini-fridge (empty for your use).

The heating/conditioner system worked immediately and very well.

And again the location is spot on.

So, I would definitely come back and it was a very good base for being in all the central areas!

Awesome place and staff. I was visiting prague for the first time from Florida. I was very pleases with this property, great location, nice and friendly staff.
Unfortunately, I only tried theif breakfast my last day cause i couldn't get at a decent time. Breakfast was good. I would definitely come back.

Condition of the rooms and especially bathrooms was very poor, air conditioning was not working, there was unpleasant smell in the room, and it was extremely noisy.

I'd call it a youth hostel, not a 4-start hotel. Completely ruined my experience in Prague.

The hotel was only a short distance from the sites of Prague. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room and areas of the hotel were very clean. At night it was a little noisy but understandable when you’re in the middle of a city. Thank you EA Downtown for a lovely stay.

This hotel is in a very good location, being within a 3 minute walk to Wenceslas square and the Czech national museum. The walk to the bridge is a good 10-15 minutes though. However, there is plenty of transportation options as well. Everything was clean and the bed comfortable, although why the double bed consists of 2 twins rammed together is always a puzzlement.I wish they put a king size sheet over them. Anyway, this hotel is worth the stay.

It was Downtown. Within a five minute walk there are a few sightseeing spots and in about 10 minutes there was the historical old town. But because it's located near a big Main Street, it was noisy sometimes, but not too much, manageable.

This place is a good old fashioned type of hotel where they give you paper and an envelope to write home and a chocolate on your pillow. The beds were so comfy, the water pressure in the shower was lovely and the property is such a cool building and very convenient to walk to the train station.
The free breakfast was amazing and the staff was very polite and helpful.

good-value, spacious A/C room near Wenceslas sq.

The room was spacious and well air-conditioned. Check-in and checkout was a breeze, and you can arrange a hotel-pick-up going to the airport with the front desk at an affordable rate (around 30€ for 3 passengers). The front desk even changed our euros at an acceptable exchange rate, and they even recommended an exchange in Wenceslas square when they didn't have available cash. Breakfast had limited options (no bacon, just sausages, scrambled eggs, bread), but was adequate.

Noisy, poor wifi but breakfast was good

Stayed on the 4th floor which has no window, has a sky light but not the same. Wifi was horrible so if you are going for business skip this place. Customer service is not great, I asked to switch rooms because of poor Wifi, they refused and said they will call tech support to fix it (which it didn't).

Area was very noisy (street noise and neighbors slamming their doors). There is a major roadway next to hotel and a hospital up the street so there is a lot of traffic noise and sirens.

It is also up hill if you are coming from the metro or train station.

Breakfast was about the only really stand out here. Well made and had about 20 plus items includes meats, eggs, chesses, and breads.

OK hotel, you will find better ones around

Major complaint: The AC was not working and it was very very uncomfortable the first night. Upon complaining the man at the reception said \"he could not help me\". I was shocked; if not to help why was he there at all. After complaining for the second the time the next day a different lady at the reception moved us to another room where the AC was weak but atleast working.

The shower was clogged. Toilet supplies are not replenished.

Compliments: The breakfast is pretty good and the best part of the stay I must say.
Location is convenient - close to both Metro line A and C.

Close to the old town but yet not noisy. walking distance to the subway. mini-markets and places to eat nearby. Limited parking at the premises. Arrived early, dropped off bags at the hotel and left. Excellent, courteous staff, all speak English.

To be honest only stayed here for about 3 hours, needed a place to rest and wash up before boarding a 15 hour train to the Netherlands and we had checked out of our other hotel, the Hotel Hoffmeister. So I went online found the cheapest decent hotel, 3 Stars or better (this was ranked 4 Stars) and found this for about 50 Euros. Location, Average, with a little walking though you can get where you need to, although the Prague Museum is very close. Lobby, Average, they talked about a lobby bar, not exactly sure where that would be, I think if you ordered something they might bring it to you, but the lobby was certainly no place inviting to sit and have a beverage. Service, Average, again to be fair only thing I dealt with was check in and check out, but the young lady pretty much did her job and not much else. Not sure she even smiled. Room, Excellent - for the price one of the cleanest, bright and decent amount of space for the money we had on the trip at about 1/2 to 1/3 the costs that we paid elsewhere. A nice bowl of fresh fruit greeted us, that was a first,heated bathroom floor, nice touch. Room, which is one of the most important amenities really shined for them. Ok with that said, because of price point we saw a lot of younger folk running around and I do mean running and horseplay. This was during the day, not sure what overnight quiet was like but the rooms and walls seemed substantial so I believe it would be fine. Another oddity was the power saving lights in the halls which seemed a bit odd. The halls were not straight, a lot of corners and the lights would be off until you passed a sensor. This bothered my wife a bit, a little uneasy as she said she would not like traveling them alone. We had run into this in Paris as well but there they at least had some low power lights to keep it from being too dark until the other lights came on.

Unfriendly staff.

I was only using the hotel as a sleeping place to get up and get an early train. I checked in at 11pm for a 7am departure, got in the room and the air-con was not working, also there were no towels. When I went to reception about both I was told nobody was in to look at the air-con until 8am and she was also grumpy at finding me a towel saying housekeeping would be in at 7am. I informed her I needed to leave by that time, she reluctantly went to look for a towel for me and when she returned she said I was very lucky - cheek! Avoid hotel if at all possible.

Did not feel like a 4 star hotel. We got a small room with a slanted ceiling on the top floor. It was really warm and the sky light let the morning sun in really early.

I also asked for an extra pillow in which I was told there weren't any. I asked another staff member a few hours later and was given one.

On the positive side - the hotel location is great and the breakfast was enjoyable

Some days did not get all towels back beds are changed every other day. Overall I would stay there again. Decent Hotel, good location, reasonable price.

The hotel is close to main railway station and 2 metro stations. That is the only thing good about it. I found my stay below average for the price. The air conditioning did not work and staff told me that they can do nothing about it. The staff was not at all helpful for even minor things. The wi-fi will spontaneously disconnect every so often. However, the speed was reasonable when connected.

Back in Praha...

I am originally from Praha.... so when I travel there I know the hotels. This hotel is in an excellent located on a busy street less than 3 minutes walk to \"Václavské náměstí \" and the Museum.... There is also a subway station located there . Easy walk to the heart of Old Praha... If you have the windows closed you can not hear the cars. The location makes up for that. The breakfast had everything one would need. The rooms are modern...good value...

The hotel and staff was perfect for us, because we just wanted something with a nice clean room, internet, nice spacious bath, with breakfast, easy access to metro and within walking distance to the downtown area. The staff we had was very friendly and accommodating. We felt safe and very well received.

We did not have a great view, a pool but you know I was not there for the view or the pool since I already have one here, all I needed was nice clean and comfortable room to come to after a long long day of touring around. Price was very reasonable.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is great - close (walking distance) to 2 metro stops and to Wenceslas Square (not even 5 minutes if you cut through Muzeum metro stop). I have read other reviews on other sites where people complained about the service at this hotel. But I found the service good - the staff were friendly and pleasant. They offered me a choice between 2 rooms when we checked in. The room we got was spacious and comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was good. It was nice having a heated floor in the bathroom. The only English TV channels were BBC and CNN but that's fairly typical of hotels in Prague. You don't really need any more since you'd be out most of the time. I would stay at this hotel again.

Nice Hotel in Convienient Location

The hotel is walking distance to all the major sights in the center of Prague and an easy metro or tram ride to everywhere else we wanted to go. Service was friendly and helpful, breakfast was good, and the room was comfortable. If you're looking for luxury it's not for you, and it's also not a discount hotel. It's a great choice for anyone who wants a nice hotel in a very convenient location (walking distance to the main trail station, to the metro, to basic services).

Good but be aware of the king size bed

it was a normal experience. Good room, comfortable. Location was a bit outside the central area, but is completeley walkable. Easy to reach from the Metro Muzeum (if u come from the airport) or the train station. Wifi in the room that works all the time. Bathroom was clean and nice. The continental breakfast was awesome, lots of options of bread, tea, spreads, cereals, etc. The front desk was helpful and they speak good english as well.

What we didn't like: King size bed it is NOT a king size bed but 2 twin beds together, which is very uncomfortable. The staff at the restaurant was not friendly at all, but its alright as u dont really have to talk to them

Great location to Wenceslas Square, safe neighbourhood and generally helpful staff

Stayed there for 5 nights although 2 nights ended up sleeping on street as was so drunk. Overall, I would recommend this hotel in large part because of its location and safety. Easy to get to by metro 'Museum', about 30min journey from Prague airport. When I first arrived at noon, the room was not available until 14:30 so I went out for a walk. Its located beside a small park which you must cross to get to the W. Sq, it can be scary at night but I won't say its dangerous.

Pros:
- Close to metro and Wen Sq
- Erotic shop right opposite lol
- some good restaurants nearby, and I would certainly recommend a steak place called U bile kravy, which is about 5-10min from hotel
- rooms are okay and toilet is clean and new
- good daily cleaning service
- staff is helpful in booking transport and providing tourist info

Cons:
- Probably borderline 4*, but I noted most hotels are like that in the city and so unless u are gonna pay for the Hiltons then dont expect the glamorous hotel
- lacks bar or common room to chill
- lift was on and off, but quickly rectified by staff
- Dont like the colour of carpet, as looks old fashioned, although clean
- Not the hotel's fault, but Wen Sq area is usually expensive as its main tourism place, so depends what you are willing to sacrifise

Overall, go for this if you seek for upper medium quality hotel and dont intend to stay in hotel much apart from sleeping.

Solid choice for a trip to Prague

Spent two nights here after trying the Expedia Unpublished Rate feature and were pleasantly surprised. We got a good deal on this 4* hotel and were happy with it. Clean rooms, had a skylight in our ceiling. Staff was pleasant and spoke perfect English. Was close to Wenceslas Square and there were a number of bars and shops within walking distance. The included breakfast was also excellent and the price included free wi-fi, which is always nice.

Not important for some people but the hotel elevator was slow. Everything else was great. 10min from trainstation, 5min from metro about 3min to tram. The street the hotel is busy with traffic but you don't hear it inside but I would be cautious with children.

Room was clean,comfortable and had all we wanted. Short walk to main street whcih led to old town or metro/trams that took you anywhere in the city. 24/72 hour pass are very good value.

Great choice for Prague Hotel

This is a great place to locate yourself for a stay in Prague. I was there for two weeks, sightseeing and attending a conference, and Hotel Downtown was the perfect spot.

Location: It's two blocks from a major metro hub (A and C lines) and one stop from the other major metro hub (A and B lines) so getting places was simple. You can pick up the main tram lines in one or two Metro stops. The hotel is two blocks off Wenceslas Square, which is super touristy and pricey (by Prague standards) but nice as there are restaurants and banks close by and open late. There are a couple of mini-groceries a block down Zitna and there's a Tesco a few blocks away if you need groceries or need to make a retail item run. You can walk to Charles Bridge from the hotel in less than 30 minutes, Old Town Square in 20 minutes, Jewish Cemetery in 20 minutes. I walked to the Castle in about an hour.

Staff: Other reviews have complained about the staff being unfriendly, but I found them to be, while not the most chatty, very efficient and helpful when asked for advice or directions.

Amenities: Free wi-fi. It gets a little bogged down in the morning when everyone is using it. I used it for sending large work docs/files and found that waiting until after 11pm the speed picked up considerably. The breakfast is fine - when I was there they had eggs (real scrambled, boiled and soft cooked), various cooked breakfast meats, fresh vegetables, cold cuts & cheeses, granola and cereals, several varieties of yogurts, fresh fruit, dried fruit, bread and rolls and pastries, plus coffee, juice, tea, water and hot cocoa. The shower had excellent water pressure, the windows open easily and do keep street noise out when closed, which is important given the traffic in this busy area. The AC was wimpy by USA standards but after a bit you could feel it. Bed was two standard mattresses together to make a king if that bugs you - it seems to be the norm for CZ in my experience. Didn't use the hairdryer or ask for an iron while I was there. Oh, the bathroom in my room had a floor tile warmer, which would be great in the winter. Nice TV - it only gets one English language channel but I didn't come to CZ to watch USA TV. I arranged for them to have a car pick me up at the airport which I would recommend - the Prague cabs suck and it was just easier to have someone waiting - the price was very reasonable. But you can take an easy bus ride to the metro and come out two blocks from the hotel for a couple of bucks if you're on a budget.

Yes, there are prostitutes in the Square at night but they aren't dangerous (and they didn't even speak to me when I was with a female companion). And there is a police station about two blocks away from the hotel. I never felt in danger or threatened but like any city I'd use some caution late at night if you're walking alone.

I would definitely recommend this place, especially if you aren't afraid to use public transportation to get around. The price is very good and the location is great.

Great hotel in New Town

Wonderful hotel with great accommodations. Had issue with A/C but temperature dropped one day from 80 to 54 and that problem was no longer an issue. A nice 1/2 mile walk to Old Town and Old Town Square.

Overall a nice small hotel. Many attractions in the city are in walking distance. The breakfast room and breakfast was very good. The water temperature in the bathroom was very hard to control. Anytime one of your neighbor rooms uses water the temperature changes, not good when you are having a shower. Also, the floor is slippery, it is only a question of time when the first guest will fall and hurt themselfs. Also, it is not possible to get towels in the afternoon, in case you missed your chance to have your room made in the morning.

Once again the hotel boasts a spa and sauna that in the description on its page does not include that it is an extra cost on top of what you have already paid. There was no bar facility available only the mini bar in the room, I cannot fault the service and cleanliness as well as the breakfast nicely sited for all the sightseeing you need to do, 2 metro stations withing easy walking(200 mtrs max), I may stay there again, but have stayed in better ones in Prague and preferred them to this one, saying that I have stayed in some worse ones as well.

Outstanding hotel for the price. It is right downtown, but not on the Old Town side which might be more desirable for tourists. It seems many things have been recently renovated and it is part of a group of hotels that appear to be pro-active in the Prague area.

A good choice

I expected the hotel to be decorated a little more modern than it was. If they would have a good paint job on the walls and neutral carpeting, it would look alot better. But I'm a realtor and look at things like that, most people probably don't care about the decor. The hotel is VERY CLEAN. I'm picky about that. I don't believe smoking is allowed in the hotel and if it is, it doesn't smell like smoke. We were first put into a room and then the front desk called to see if it was satisfactory and asked if we would like to look at a bigger room. Maybe they realized that we are American and booked from hotels.com. The bigger room was much better with four windows and two skylights. The bathroom has a shower only (providing shower caps) and is very similar to Holland bathrooms if you've ever been there. I also noticed that a Snickers bar had an expiration date of the present day and was switched out the following day. Seems like they don't cut corners on cleaniness and health. We were on the fourth floor and the street noise was minimal. Didn't bother me. We even had the windows open for a while cause the room was a bit stuffy. But we had to close the windows after a little while because the smog smell was a bit much. The only main complaint is the lack of tv channels. I'm not a big tv watcher but the only English speaking channels were basically news channels. The other languages available are German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and French. We got by watching the French comedies because I understand a little. I thought it to be comical there were no Czech channels. The hotel is walking distance from the metro. Walking with a rolling suitcase or booksack, not heavy carry luggage. There are restaurants within walking distance as well as a 24 hour convenient store.

Expecting to find a typically small European hotel room, we were stunned to find a plush, large room and an equally stunning and pristine bathroom. The breakfast selection was outstanding and we booked this room at an amazing rate. The hotel was also not far from public transportation lines, which took you to Prague Castle in 10 minutes and was only a 5-10 minute walk from Wenceslas Square.

Very handy for many attractions

The hotel is in a prime city location, which makes the prices we paid even more of a bargaim. The breakfast was varied and plentiful and all staff encountered were friendly and courteous. The rooms, though small, were comfortable but the bathroom was well appointed and spacious. Unfortunately a previous occupant ha dbviously been smoking as the room still smelt. Traffic noise could also be a problem, but despite these small gripes the hotel was a good experience

My Wife and I took our 11 month old to Prague for the weekend. The hotel was in a good spot, not perfect, but good for the price we paid. As soon as we got there, I asked for a crib. The attendant stated since I did not order one ahead of time, I would have to wait until the next day to get the crib. I looked at him and asked him what he suggested I do for the first night. The bottom line is I had to strong arm them until they \"went out of their way\" to find the crib.

Moving on from there was trying to get milk in the morning. That didn't turn out to be easy either.

The hotel is in a good location. If you're traveling with babies, make sure to reserve the crib a head of time, and make sure you don't need anything else because getting help from the hotel appears to be a burden. The last point I'd say is the walls are thin. The first night we could easily hear the couple in the room next to us eagerly enjoy each others company!!

This hotel, literally in the shadow of Prague's Muzeum is great for the price I paid. The people at the front desk were friendly, accommodating and spoke perfect English. I will definitely stay here again.

Solid choice

For tourists, the location wasn't the best, but still a very quick walk or subway ride away from the biggest sights. It is located near the top of Wenceslas Square, and the 22 Tram will take you directly to the castle and attractions on the opposite bank of the river; the subway will take you to the old town and Jewish quarter. I bought an unlimited 3-day subway/bus/tram pass which made commuting within the city very easy.

The hotel itself is quite good for the money. While the exterior still retains the original detail, the interior has been completely renovated. The rooms are spacious and well-furnished by European standards.

The breakfast could have been a bit better as well, but for the money, no complaints.

The two of us arrived to be greeted at the reception by the receptionist who was obviously expecting us and after a two minute check in had the porter escort us to our room. The room was fantastic! Very clean and spacious, TV, nice bathroom and a very good air conditioning system. Only lacking tea and coffee making facilities. I am afraid I was never up on time to try the breakfast but talking to other guests about they all said it was of a very high standard. After unpacking we asked the receptionist how we got into Wenceslas square. She was very polite and helpful both then and throughout our stay, she told us it was just left out of the door and literally a minutes walk through a nice park next to the national museum at the top of Wenceslas square. The location really was just right for the younger tourist, so close to all the main attractions but very quiet at night, no being kept awake by noisy night clubs or taxis going up and down the road all night. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk down Wenceslas square to get to the older part of town. To summarise this is a great hotel. The staff really are very helpful and polite and the room was only missing tea and coffee facilities to stop it being perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone but think it is more suited to younger tourists.
