Room size was adequate. Good to have 2 bathrooms. Safe could be bigger as there was no room for a tablet or laptop.

The room lighting was too dark. The carpets were stained and dirty. There was loads of rubbish under the bed from previous occupants.

They could do with putting out a kettle, cups and some tea/ coffee facilities.

Staff were friendly, breakfast was great, and the location was great. Rooms however need a refresh. The carpet is very old red carpet in poor shape. The fridge didn’t work and there was not a way to easily control the room temp.

Outdated & poor reception service

This hotel might have been a 4-star hotel at some point in the past but it definitely hasn’t kept up with the times. It desperately needs a refurbishment.

-The receptionist who checked us in was extremely rude, arrogant, not helpful at all. Plus they wouldn’t let us check in till 3pm although it states that check in is at 2pm.
-The breakfast wasn’t very rich and some breakfast options were poorly served the following day as they were the same stale bread, pastries that could literally make you chip a tooth.
-The cleaning by the housekeepers was quite thorough so we were very pleased with that.

The main issue is with the one male receptionist who checked us in and looked at us as if we’re stupid whenever we had a question such as “where is the breakfast served”. Or when they refused to help us with an issue but I’m very glad for hotels.com team as they were happy to help and solved the issue in a matter of seconds.

If you’re booking for one night, then I recommend this stay. But if you’re staying for longer, I recommend spending your hard earned money elsewhere as you’ll be disappointed.

Very spacious room, rather unexpected for the competitive pricing. Along a busy street with lots of traffic but I found it ok due the double glazing sound proofing. The bed is very comfortable. Will return if revisiting Prague.
What I considered odd is they charge bottle water and desk coffee which should be complimentary.

No false advertising here! What you see online is what you get! All the staff were super helpful and nice. The breakfast spread was excellent.

You will hear noise - it's just part of the location; however the hotel provides earplugs! The location is excellent for sightseeing and shopping (if you're into that).

The towels could use an update or se fabric softener at least and maybe better pillows but otherwise, I enjoyed my stay!

Great hotel! Would stay again.

The hotel is really nice, great location, walkable to most if not all sites and transport.
Hotel was very clean. Everything in the room was comfortable and we slept really well.
All staff were really friendly and helpful.
We didnt have any toilteries replaced during our stay so we did have to ask for more shampoo and toilet roll, but that was quickly resolved.

The stay itself in a nearby hotel was good, nice location, good breakfast, comfortable. The room is a bit overheated and temperature not easily controlled. But check in was not well organized Hotel was actually closed and we got moved to the nearby EA Hotel Downtown. This wasn't communicated at any time prior to our arrival and there was only a paper that we could have easily missed on the entrance hotel telling us that reception was moved to the nearby hotel. Arriving late in the evening, that was a bit unsettling but ultimately the stay was nice

Its a good hotel overall. Service was ok for the most part until we were lied on by room service for smoking in the room. Staff were friendly and customer service and appreciation was just ok. The rooms were clean on the surface but the refrigerator stank and the mattress was dirty. In terms of location, it wasn't too far from the places we wanted to see so that was a plus.

Really good choice for breakfast. Close to the metro station and within walking distance of major sites.
Our transport from the hotel to the airport to catch our return flight (pre-booked through Expedia) failed to turn up, leaving us sitting in the lobby not knowing what to do. The lady who worked at reception was very professional and sympathetic and helped us to arrange alternative transport so that we didn't miss our flight. Unfortunately, I forgot to get her name but I was impressed with how she handled everything. Thank-you.

Quaint building, very close to the tourist areas of Prague, close to two subway stops (and two different lines), so very easy to get almost anywhere in the city. the streets around it are a bit busy in terms of car traffic.

My friend & I spent 2 nights in the hotel. It was a very nice experience. The hotel was well located for both walking to major attractions, including both New & Old Town Centres. Also, it was great for accessing public transportation to attractions as well as the airport. It was clean, the service was great, and the complimentary breakfast left us full all day. I would recommend it to anyone.

This hotel doesn't even deserve 2 stars. Creepy small and poorly lit rooms. No free water. They make you sign a form with credit card in the case they want to impose extra charges whatever these are. Cleaning lady just marched into my roon at 8 am without even knocking. The check out time is listed as 11 am but then they inform you that it's 10 am. When I spoke to reception desk about it they didn't care. Awful. Wil never stay there again. I advise you strongly to avoid it.

Hotel Sonata is situated in close proximity to the city old town and good for walking trips. The breakfast buffet offers a good range of hot and cold food, with a great selection of cakes. On the other hand our room require a bit of mainatance works and cleaning the air conditioning which was full of dust. Moreover, in a four star hotel I would at least expect complimentary water in the room, not highly priced water on the desk. Overall, we had a good stay.

Very clean room. Very friendly staff. Only downside happened when having initially booked two nights, we decided halfway through the second day that we wanted to stay a third night. We went to reception and booked it in and was told that it was all good. We went out the next morning and when we arrived back we were locked out of our room with all of our belongings locked inside. We were told this was because we hadn't paid for the third night. Yet, when we spoke to reception face to face this was not mentioned to us and we presumed it was being charged to our credit card along with our other nights. We were made to feel like we were being dishonest and it left a bad taste in our mouth.

Bad service, very dirty. I booked in another hotel of the company and without any notice they send me in this one. The room was dirty: floor with moquette with stains, walls with screeches, shower and air conditioning broken, towels ruined with big yellow stains...they tried to please me with a bottle of wine, unfortunately for them I do not drink. After my complains they said they would change the room, this happened the last day I stayed in the city. the staff could not speak any other language except for Czech, except for the receptionist. So there was a big issue of communication. The breakfast as the location was poor. I hade to pray to have a simple croissant. The hotel was old and it needs lots of cleaning. Just 2 good things: the location close to points of interest and the receptionist that was nice and gentle! For less money you can find a better treatment in a 8 bed room in an hostel!

Hotel refused us so we stayed somewhere else!!!!

Was told ON ARRIVAL that hotel cannot take us due to technical issue!!!!! So we were moved to another Hotel (EA Downtown) which was NOT so good - had NO BATHS (only showers) and the room was not completely done up. When we said that we want to move again we got shouted at by one of the hotel workers for taking covers off the bed even though it was like that when we got there!!!! We complained about the room since we asked for bath and nicer accommodation and were finally moved to EA Crystal Palace which was good in our view.

So EA Crystal palace is quite nice, but we cannot comment on this hotel (EA Sonata) since they didn't give us a room when we arrived (and not let us know even a second earlier).

We got a cheap bottle of wine as compensation and since the room was alright in the end we accepted it and ended the discussion and started our holiday.

In fairness I would at least say that even though their lack of letting us know is totally unacceptable, and the first hotel they moved us to was not so nice... they did, after our persistence, find us a nice place so at least their willingness to resolve the issue is reasonable.

Great service! The room was very clean and the maid even organized my clothes. The breakfast was exceptional and the best part was the staff. The receptionists were ectremely friendly. The only tiny problem I had was the handles from the window fell off and the plug for the bathtub came loose and seperated from their original places.

Only unpleasant experience was when receptionist didn't open the glass door for me when I was standing outside trying to get inside and my card didn't work. In a few minutes he got up with the face \"you owe me\" for the door automatically open to let me in.
The rest of the staff was pleasant and helpful.

Super small quilt ruins my sleep.

The quilt is way too small, I'm not super tall, I believe they just use XXS quilts for their customers. Quilts may be the least valuable investment for a hotel, but they really affect the quality of sleep. They make a huge difference. Under a super small and narrow quilt you can't sleep well, especially in winter, like now! Other than that, this is a decent hotel, good breakfast, nice service.

Very spacious room and bathroom. Despite being located on a busy road the sound proofing was effective and the room was quiet. Breakfast was excellent. It was a short walk to the main railway station, metro and Wenceslas Square. Other tourist attractions are also within walking distance. There's a small supermarket nearby. Very reasonably priced hotel in November.

When we booked our hotel we were expecting a higher quality experience, but were disappointed when we checked in as the hotel wasn't quite a 4 star.

Here are some pro's and con's:

Pros:
- Great location - 5 minute walk to Muzeum metro station and Wenceslaus Square.
- Great shower pressure and hot water
- Good breakfast, goes till 10:30 am

Cons:
- Small rooms
- No tub in the room, only showers
- Hallways/carpets are run down
- Poor amenities (no soap, poor shampoo/conditioner)
- Only one English TV channel, but a good music channel
- We asked the hotel to call us a cab, and it was a total rip off. The worst part was when we said the price was too high, they didn't have our best interests at heart. The least they could have done was tell us whether or not the price was reasonable - all they said was \"oh? too high?\" If anything, they should know what it should cost to get around the city - but didn't offer this information. It felt like they were in cahoots with the cab company. Not trustworthy - and left a bad taste in our mouth.

GUARANTEED RESERVATION NOT HONORED

After a guaranteed reservation made 3 months prior, EA Sonata told us upon arrival that they did not have a room for us. They sent us to sister hotel, where, for $135.00 a night they put is in a tiny attick room where the ceiling on one sidd of room was only 5ft tall. No reduction in the charge for this room was considered.

Liars. Had room booked 4 months prior. Resold my room to get in large tour group. Tried to relocate me to another property in middle of nowhere next to active construction site. NEVER BOOK WITH THIS CHAIN. COMPLETELY DISHONEST. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY SAY. Most blatant fraud by a hotel I have ever experienced. Fortunately, Hotels.com stood by their guarantee and relocated me at their expense. They need to stop doing business with EA.

I would like to say a special thanks to the hotel manager, who made my experience with the hotel better. He is a hands on person, who makes hotel work like a clock. Hotel is clean, breakfast is good. Hotel is walking distance to major attractions. I would stay here again.
