The room was not clean. There was a used towel, blood stains on the phone cord and on the comforter, the minibar was empty and did not work. After complaining, the staff came up to change the comforter and clean the stains. This was not pleasant

Hotel byl pěkný, čistý. Obsluha příjemná. Pouze snídaně nebyla úplně dle našich představ. Hodně věcí chybělo, nebylo nějak aktivně doplňováno. Jednu dobu chyběli i talíře nebo veškeré uzeniny (šunka, sýr, salám). Jinak jsme byli spokojeni. Hotel kousek od centra i zastávek na veřejnou dopravu.

The rooms were dirty, marks over everything and quite a bit of mould in the shower. The wifi was poor so you could barely connect in your room and there was no point using the TV. There was no air conditioning despite the fact it was very hot. The location is convenient in terms of the tram stops but there is a market outside that starts at about 5am so between that and the trams, its very noisy. Breakfast was ok, nothing special, no meat or anything and very limited fruit. Wouldnt stay there again or recommend to anyone to be honest

Hotel na fotkách muže vypadat luxusně, ale většina zařízení má svá nejlepší léta už za sebou. Dveře, které jdou těžko zavřít, uvolněné dlazdicky v koupelně, chybějící lamely v postelovem roštu. Úklid se asi taky příliš nehroti, když v komodě zůstávají igelitky po předchozích hostech. Snídaně ucházející.

Pleasantly surprised. I had low expectations from Hotel Tyl based on a series of recent negative Google reviews, which were proved wrong - at least from my perspective. The hotel was well-located in Prague's New Town, but near enough a 10-minute walk from the National Museum (and Metro Station) and Wenceslaus Square (Centre) and a 20-minute walk from the Old Town. Tramlines were location within 100 metres. The hotel and rooms are a little dated, but perfectly reasonable condition and comfortable enough. I have marked the hotel down because I especially booked a double room, but received a twin room with two single beds pushed together, which wasn't comfortable. I also must mark down the hotel for poor communication - I tried several times to phone and email the hotel before my stay - the phone lines only ever went to a voicemail (with the most annoying hold messages I ever remember hearing). I eventually received a response confirming my reservation but only after I had already checked-in. Breakfast was good, and actually better than most other places I stayed at on this trip - the breakfast area in the basement was actually quite nice. The common areas and lobby downstairs was a nice bonus, and I must also thank Ari the receptionist for being so helpful and friendly. Finally the hotel was good value for money, and I would be happy to stay there on a future trip.

Decent hotel in good location

Check in was smooth,staff very helpful and friendly, room was clean and specious, plenty to eat for breakfast. Located close anough to the National Museum, metro and transpor close by.You can even walk to the old town if you have the time.Overall me and my friend enjoyed our stay in the hotel.

The staff were super friendly, the hotel was nice and the location was amazing in Prague 2. The breakfast was not great but not bad. The room was comfortable and clean, but the curtains blocked the light only partially, so there was a lot of light early in the morning.

It does convey a sense of a faded yester year but our room was well appointed and spacious with a separate mini hall from which to access the bath room. The bed was comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is standard fare but more than adequate. We highly recommend this hotel for comfort and v good value for monet.

The reception staff were very helpful especially Michel who organised rooms to be ready early so we could smoothly transfer rooms after our extra night stay .He also recommended local restaurants to enjoy Czech food.
The buffet breakfast was extensive.
Hotel Tyl is ideally situated for the number 22 Tram which goes to all the major tourist sights.

Hotel Tyl - Solo Stay

Great little hotel in a prime location. Tram and metro station on the doorstep of the hotel as well as major food outlets less than 1 min walk away. Hotel itself was nice. Staff on reception very helpful and friendly. Rooms were of a very good size compared to some uk hotels and cleaned daily if needed.
On the other hand there a few bits that weren't so great. Breakfast staff couldnt speak english and just pointed as in to go ask someone else which i found rude but also when they cleaned tables and working the kitchen all you could hear was banging of cutlery and plates which could be improved. The only thing i wish the hotel could change was after 12am the front doors are locked which is fine. However when i came back from nights out after 3am to get back in you have to press a buzzer/alarm for the night receptionist to let you back in. They clearly sleep but i felt so bad having to come back so late having to wake them up. As i also went to go out to get food but again they have to wake up to let you out and back in again. lf they could get key entry back into the hotel that would be great!
But overall i would happily stay again if the 2 changes above were put into action.

Everything about our stay was lovely and the staff were very friendly, even providing us with a free bottle of champagne. Night times were a little noisy due to the trams but this is expected due to the very practical location.

Relatively convenient location in budget hotel

Good breakfast spread and overall hotel clean and tidy however room was not cleaned during our 4 day stay. We are not untidy and perfectly capable of making our own beds but tea and coffee facilities were not replenished. Receptionist was unable to provide more supplies either. Trams are a little noisy but you become accustomed to this.
Hotel location is about 30 mins pleasant walk to Charles Bridge and easily accessible for beautiful parkland walks.

The location was great. However, the room interior was very worn. The carpet was probably never cleaned since instillation. Shower door was broken. Upon check in, the coffee maker was dirty and old water was not cleaned out. The spoon provided for preparing coffee was used and dirty with dried crud on it. Sink soap dispenser was almost empty. The description mentioned the presence of an in-room safe, but this is small and can only fit passports and small jewelry, but not even an Ipad. They have a closed to hang clothes but only 2 hangers. No TV reception, and calling the front desk didn't help. He said try and figure it out. The good things: great location and decent breakfast.

Nice hotel in a good location

We enjoyed this hotel, room was comfortable and clean. The tram line ran in front of the hotel which you could hear through the windows so I recommend ear plugs. It was all kept very clean and the staff were helpful. Breakfast was continental with meats, cheese, fruit cereal boiled eggs etc. plenty of places to go out for a meal or drink in the location.

Fantastic Location!

This is the third time we have stayed in this Hotel. The staff are very friendly and eager to please and speak very good English. The rooms are clean, comfortable and very quiet. Although there is Wi-fi, you can't always connect, but this wasn't a problem for us as we try to go gadget free when we are on holiday. Good range of food at breakfast - buffet style with hot and cold choices. It is ideally located being 5 mins walk away from Wenceslas Square and River and served very well by Tram Stop (No. 22 to Petrin Hill and Castle!) just around the corner, approx 50m walk and Metro station. Buy tickets for Tram at Metro Station. The 24hour ticket for just 110ck is great if you don't want to walk much as you hop on and off, but we just bought the 60 minutes one for 24ck (less than £1) to get us to the castle. There is a Starbucks, McDonalds, KFC down the road, so great for late night coffees to take back to room. We love this hotel and would highly recommend it!!!!! Thank you to all the staff for a fantastic visit each time.

Location is perfect.

Hotel is accessible to all city attractions with tram stop just few meters away and metro station is about 5 minutes walk. You can drop your suitcase if you arrive before check in and leave it as well after check out if you still have time to go around the city before your flight. Hotel is reasonably clean and good size for standard double room and quite even if our room is fronting the square. Price is reasonable considering it comes with free breakfast too. Enjoyed our stay for 2 nights and 3 days. Will definitely use again and recommend this hotel.

This place was so nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the free breakfast was good. Rooms were old fashioned and could do with an upgrade, but still very clean and so spacious. The room comes with a safe (which is nice) and a huge tv. Only complaint was the hairdryer which looked like it was 20 years old!

Good value hotel, walking distance to everything

Really enjoyed our stay here. Prague is a beautiful city and we walked to everything we wanted to see from this hotel. The Old Square, the clock, Charles Bridge, the castle etc. Breakfast at the hotel was good with lots of choice and there is a lovely modern restaurant directly across the road from hotel with great food, good atmosphere and good prices. Often a market right in front of hotel selling fruit and bread. Male member of staff at reception was more friendly and helpful than the female staff but no problems with any of them.

The staff were wonderful. We arrived early and they prepared our room there and then for us, giving us advice on what to see and how to get around while we waited. We had an early morning train the next day. As we were missing breakfast they made us breakfast boxes to take with us. Exceptional service and beautiful hotel for a very reasonable price.

24 hour concierge service who were all very helpful and friendly. Good recommendation of nearby places to eat on our budget and tastes.
Room was clean, comfortable and had tea, coffee, tv, good shower, lots of storage and free wifi.
All the furniture looks antique - which is to my taste. Art Nouveau paintings.
Breakfast buffet was very good with a range of hot and cold food, fresh fruit (but no fresh juice, only dilute). Fresh coffee and a selection of teas.
You need to leave a deposit for the mini-bar in cash (we left 50 Euros) but get a receipt and it is returned as you check out.
No problem leaving out luggage in a locked room on our departure day.
Metro and tram stops 50 metres away, line C - station: I.P. Pavlova
We would go back to this hotel again.

Hotel Tyl is close to the metro and is within walking distance from the city centre. The hotel staff were very helpful. The breakfast has limited options and the complimentary tourist map that you get from the hotel is limited to the key sightseeing places near the hotel. It is slightly highly priced but we had a good experience overall.

The location was great for local shops and transport. Reception staff always at hand to help and provide great service. Good selection of variety of breakfast. Room cleaning staff always gave wrong number of towels and did not refill tea making facilities however kept the room clean and tidy everyday. Very good value for money, would stay here again.

Comfortable hotel for a good price. Beds we had were a little soft but adequate and the room size was good.Staff friendly and knowledgeable.Location not in centre but very close to tram stop so getting there easy. Trams pass in the road near the front of the hotel so expect rumbling sounds during the night if you have room in the front.

The hotel location is great, just a short walk to a subway and tram station. It's easy to get food and drinks in the neighborhood shops. Hotel reception is helpful and staffs are friendly. The first night we were in a quite old room,we could not completely close the window and facilities had a smell no fresh air. The other 2 nights we got a new room which was spacious,clean and bright, everything was terrific, we did have a wonderful time there. The buffet breakfast with assorted cold and cooked food every morning was also reasonably good for the room price.

Be careful about requesting for transport service

We arrived earlier than scheduled and the clerk was good enough to allow us to store our luggage awaiting for the \"right\" check in time... this is a plus. We like the offerings of the hotel, however, what ticked us off was on the day we're ready to leave. We ask the desk clerk the following questions: (1) how do we get to the train terminal using the subway - her answer was \"it's a weekend - it will take you a long time\". Having said this - our next question was: (2) can you call a taxi for us? Which she supposedly did. After a few minutes, a van of sorts appeared. Upon seeing that there's no TAXI written anywhere - we ask the driver about it. He said he was contacted by the front desk to take us to the airport - which was wrong because we're not going to the airport and second, the driver said he's not a taxi. So, we asked about the rate - which was way too high. We know this as \"high\" because we took a taxi from the train terminal to the hotel when we arrived Prague. So, we went the subway route (after asking a few people around) - which is just a few minutes away (not that far away after all) and doesn't even cost much.. What was bad about the whole thing is that the front desk clerk haven't been truthful about the travel \"arrangements\" she made and her hesitance to recommend the subway which is just around the next block.

3rd Visit to Prague

The Hotel is in a good position being located very close to Tram and Underground connections which serve the whole city. The transport infrastructure serving the city is very, very good. But can be a little crowed at peak times. The hotel was great and I would be happy to stay here again. The staff I could not fault, they were very helpful. The breakfast was basic, with a reasonable selection typical for most Hotels. The room was a reasonable size and very clean throughout. The TV was limited to a few channels, which only 1 or 2 where in English. However you are here to see Prague not watch TV. Around the Hotel are plenty of shops, food outlets and watering holes.

A room with a view in Prague

Hotel Tyl is a short walk from the metro station Namesti Miru and centrally located to all the major attractions in the city. I was greeted at the front desk by a young lady with a warm smile. Once checked in, I was directed to my room on the second floor overlooking the lovely treed street. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast served in the breakfast room was absolutely wonderful, for the variety was amazing! Everything from cereal, yogurt, eggs, meats, bread, juices, pastries/cakes, jams, and fruits, as well as coffee and a selection of teas. All the people that I met at the hotel during my stay were polite, friendly, and professional. I would highly recommend this hotel for all the reasons above. My stay in Prague was enhanced not only by all the sights and attractions, but also by the staff at Hotel Tyl. Thank you!

Average, little high priced for what you get

Plus: Staff speak fluent English and generally helpful, convenient location off Metro line.
Minus: Shower door rickety, could not get shampoo dispenser to work, cannot use handheld wand as regular shower (no high wall mount). Neighborhood is lacking in quality restaurants (not their fault, but just be aware). Mainly fast food within walking distance. Breakfast is typical for hotels in price range (pastries, what they call \"sausage\" (hot dog), cereal, yogurt, etc. Thought it unusual, and slightly offputting to be asked to pay in advance instead of at checkout as is usually customary. You have my credit card number already, its not as if you are not going to get paid!

Little Gem just got better

Been back every year for 5 years and its just got better.

Wifi now available throughout the hotel
Tea and Coffee making facilities now in every room
Larger bath towels
Mini bar if you like that sort of thing

Price very competitive.

Pleasant hotel awkward bath!!!

The side of the bath/shower is far ,far too high. Also figuring out how to use shower is a mystery to some --- I had to explain to one guest how to switch from bath mode to shower mode.Stopper in bath is awkward to release (why???).

Great location, short walk to Wencelas Square, right near a tram line in a quiet neighborhood with cafes and restaurants nearby.

Nice hotel with nice deal!

We had excellence stay there. We got a good deal there with hotels.com. We paid about 80euro per night but the hotel itself worth like 200 euro per night! The staff are very helpful and friendly!
