Super clean and the staff was knowledgable and helped very time we needed any type of help. It is up hill, so I would take an electric taxi to the hotel. I of course hauled my two suitcases up what felt like the Matterhorn and I had to stop several times. I am in great shape so trust me when I say take a taxi. The steps to climb can be challenging. Once you are at the hotel the easiest corridor is exit left. It is a gradual walk up and down to the city center. Greta place and I would stay here again.

Here’s my honest review: The hotel is run by a family, and the staff were truly amazing and very thoughtful. When we requested a fork and some utensils, they kindly provided plates and spoons as well. The hotel overlooks part of the Alps, and the bathroom was beautiful and felt very luxurious. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find cookies prepared in the room, which was a sweet and welcoming touch. There is also a coffee machine along with tea packets, sugar, spoons, and other basic amenities provided.

However, getting to the hotel from the train station was not very convenient, as we had to walk about 700 meters from the train station to an uphill on a steep slope while carrying our luggages. The bed was made up of two single beds pushed together, which felt uncomfortable due to the noticeable gap in the middle. Although the balcony faces the mountains, the view is currently partially blocked by nearby construction for another hotel, and it’s likely that the new building may further obstruct the mountain view in the future — possibly because we were assigned the last room, furthest from the main view. In my opinion, for the price we paid (around USD 400++ per night), it was not worth it. Zermatt is a small town with many hotels, and you can likely find more affordable options that are more convenient and offer better views.

The staff were absolutely amazing. We got in late and they left clear instructions and upgraded our room for free. They were so helpful and accommodating. The room was great. The hot tub and sauna were also amazing. The location was perfect. I absolutely recommend!

Unfortunately, the room I was given was right next to a construction site.
When I called to inform the staff, the female staff member told me that I couldn’t change rooms unless I upgraded and paid extra. The hotel wasn’t even half full at the time, so it was quite disappointing. It would have been a great opportunity to create a positive impression for a first-time guest, but instead, I was met with unhelpful response. On the other hand, the male receptionist was very kind, polite, and welcoming — I appreciated his attitude.
It’s a pity, because I had planned to come back during the ski season, but after this experience, I don’t think I’ll be staying at this hotel again.
Also The room still had some dust on the phone and the desk.

Breakfast were fantastic and are cheaper to buy once you get there!

The view was fantastic, the hot tub was nice (though limited hours of use) and the room was comfortable. However, given the rate we paid, we were surprised by how basic the overall hotel experience felt. There were maintenance issues with the tub and other small details that didn’t quite meet expectations. While the staff was friendly and made efforts to address the problems, the property ultimately felt more like an upscale budget hotel.

We booked a room with Matterhorn view and terrace. All we could see was a crane and building site that blocked the view in a way that you couldn’t take a photo because of the crane. We paid over $400 for this room. The manager decided we could still see the mountain so there was no grounds for complaint. We should have been advised by the hotel that there was construction going on. They must have been aware of this as they also provided earbuds to block noise. All in all the hotel is ok, nothing special, but the managers handling of our situation was beyond disappointing.

This is a great hotel for your visit to Zermatt. Our rooms had a direct view of the Matterhorn which was incredible. The location is great. Close enough to the main street and lifts and far enough away to escape the noise of the busy area. The room was clean and well kept. The only thing that would have made the stay better is if we had access to an iron. It’s a great place and we’ll be back!!

I loved this hotel! I asked ahead of time for gluten free breakfast options and they purchased rolls especially for me. They also arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the train on the day we arrived. Our rooms had spectacular views of the Matterhorn with great balconies to relax in. They stored our suitcases on the last day so we were free to roam until train time. Great service, great hotel!

Overall, it was a pleasant and beautiful stay.

There was only one dissatisfaction with the manager on night duty on our first day. Who did not handle the hotel smoke alarm system issue well at first and blamed the guests without identifying actual root cause. Thanks to the men who assisted as we needed to rest early after a long day of traveling.

Very simple / basic rooms, but fantastic staff, amazing breakfast, excellent 30minute slots booking system of the outside jacuzzi with view of the Matterhorn and the sauna so they are in fact private. Drinks served in the hot tub etc etc etc. Just really amazing. And location is good.

The hotel was very unwelcoming. We arrived at 2. Were told that the check-in time was 4pm, which was fine. Then was told that one of the rooms were ready. We could get that room, but had to pay an extra CHF 20. Never ever did a hotel ask for money for a room I had booked and was ready early. Then we were looking to top up on water. There was a bar area in the lobby which was empty and the bar was closed. I went to the tap at the bar and was filling a bottle when the lady from the reception came and started yelling, askin \"what are you doing there\". It was rude and impolite. The rest of the stay was okay. But the start was bad and can't recommend the hotel, given the way they treat guests.

Beautiful full view of Matterhorn from my room. Pleasant hotel decor and nice breakfast. Location about 15 minutes walk from train station.

Dead fly and dead insect smushed on wall. Only ventilation was windows but lots of bugs. Bathroom small with glass door, no privacy.

I completed arrival review on Expedia and mentioned cleanliness issue. Staff confronted me and complained that I left review instead of coming to them. My option is that quality control is hotel job not guest job. I did not like the confrontation.

The room has a great view of Matterhorn and this is the best thing. The room is modern and comfortable. The breakfast is good. Staff is nice and helpful. But it’s a bit up the hill so taking large baggage would be tiring. Can consider getting a taxi but be sure about the normal price as it can be a trap for tourists.

Adorable & quaint hotel in a breathtaking location in Zermatt! Just a 1/2 mile walk to the main train station along cobblestone streets. The staff was lovely & the breakfast was the best we had in the many cities we visited in Switzerland. The views of the Matterhorn were just WOW. Our room was tiny but very nice, and the Jacuzzi with views of the Alps was a huge perk! We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed the location of the hotel. Quiet and easy to get to the areas we needed. A city map from TI is very helpful when you first get to Zermatt, as finding streets and short cuts can be difficult with out one.
Rooms were very nice and comfortable. Enjoyed sitting on the deck outside our room. Breakfast each morning was delightful! We love the coffee machine, making coffee latte to expresso's. Would definitely recommend.

Hotel Ambiance is nicely situated in Zermatt. Just an 8 - 10 minute walk to the Main Street and train station. Room was just the right amount of space for 2, very clean and comfortable beds. Breakfast included a nice selection of foods ranging from warm (eggs, sausage, potatoes) to cold foods (fruit, yogurt, cereals, meats). All this plus the accommodating and friendly staff made our stay memorable.

This hotel is Swiss perfection. The room was large, the bed was comfy, the shower was great and the access to the balcony was like a dream. The breakfast was a mix of eggs, meat and breads with other options also. The hotel was very clean and the staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The location can't be beat, it is up on a hill giving you amazing views of the city and the Matterhorn. It is in a quiet area, but very close to all the amenities of the city, a grocery a few steps down and plenty of restaurants. Will definitely stay here again.

Hotel Ambience was perfect! The view of the Matterhorn at sunrise from our bed or on our deck was breathtaking! The hotel also sits up on a hill, so it overlooks the town. We walked to/from the train station, the Klein-Matterhorn gondola, Gorner gorge, the park, the ski rental shop, and all the restaurants and shops. Breakfast every day was beautiful—home baked breads, homemade jams, fresh squeezed juices, cheeses, eggs, sausage, etc. The staff would also prepare a to-go lunch for a day hike. Great rain shower. Nice bar area downstairs where you can order a drink and meet other guests. We relaxed in the outdoor jacuzzi with a great view of the Matterhorn, and were provided with complementary robes and slippers. Would definitely stay here again!

Nice hotel in Zermatt

Upon check in, we are unable to access the hotel entrace door as it was lock and the reception is not on the Groud floor, we have to call to the property to pick us up. However, the staff are very nice and the room and bathroomis very clean and new. The view from our room is very nice view (Matterhorn view) even we can't see Matterhorn on the 1st day as the sky is very cloudy.

Great Hotel in a Beautiful Place

Overall a very nice hotel. Superior room had a fantastic view and felt rather new and renovated. Nice large bath, comfortable bed. No milk in the room so had to ask for milk from reception for tea but not a big deal. And occasionally the heaters struggled but over all these were very small issues. WiFi performed well. A little bit of a walk to main ski lifts (15mins) but only 5 mins to the bus if you'd prefer that.

An impressive stay

The hotel is located on the quiet side of the town, not too far away from hotel. We hired a taxi when arrive since we were not familiar with the environment, paid 17 francs, turned out not necessary if we knew how to reach there. Suggestion: call the hotel before arrival to get the accurate direction.
The first room we're given was beside the elevator and not quiet. We asked to change and actually got upgraded without extra charge to a room facing Matterhorn, really satisfied.
We forgot to bring the Swiss type adapter, and the hotel owner rented us one, it was a big help.
The breakfast included was very good, actually one of the best among the entire Switzerland stay.
We had one dinner in the hotel restaurant, it worth the taste and money comparing to the local restaurant.
The owner and other staff were really helpful in supplying information.
Highly recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel very close to the Arts district.

The hotel is very close to the tram line and is situated a couple of blocks off of the main arts area. The hotel staff were very friendly and willing to help out in any way. The only downside of our stay was that our room wasn't cleaned daily. All in all it was a great place to stay for the price.

This is a welcoming hotel slightly away from the crowds and is very quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a comfortable walk from the train station and the main shopping/ action area. They offer very reasonable \"cut lunches\" for you day in the mountains or on your return trip. The beds are comfortable and have heating and cooling as required.

Exceeds Expectations

We were warmly greeted by Michele and were provided a room upgrade. The whole facility has been renovated in the past year and it is truly lovely with modern amenities, very clean rooms and fabulous breakfast.

Very comfortable hotel with a nice view

This hotel was lovely - the staff were helpful and nice, the buffet breakfast delicious with lots of options, the room had a great view of the Matterhorn albeit a bit small. The location was nice as well very close to the main street

Visit to zermatt

Be prepared for a long walk uphill with luggage good 20 mins.suggest a local taxi .Staff accommodating allowed us to leave luggage after check out . Our deluxe room definitely had a good view of the Matterhorn but we were lucky with weather . Breakfast very good.

Amazing hotel and staffs

My husband and I stayed @ Hotel ambiance for 3 nights. The hotel location is just 15 mins walk from the main train station which make it very convenient. The room was kept clean all the time and the toilet is super clean! The breakfast was also great and delicious! I also have to praise their staffs! Everybody was great, friendly and very polite

Luxurious Hotel in the Midst of the Snow

Stunning hotel, brilliant location. The staff were just so helpful. Unfortunately, the breakfasts weren't great and the jacuzzi was out of order when we went, but other than that, we couldn't fault the hotel. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable as well.

Matterhorn in clear view!

Cosy little establishment. You could catch a nice view of the Matterhorn outside the hotel or if you book a room with a direct view. Room was smallish but very well furnished and heated. Good service. We were lucky the weather and visibility was good.

Comfortable room

Stayed here life three nights with my brother. We were arriving late (after hotel check in) and Sami kindly arranged all relevant information to access the hotel after hours and to access our room. He was great! The free breakfast and wifi provided were also great and we were close to the town and to Zermatt Station. Food is very experience though every where in the town of Zermatt as well as in the Hotel.

Friendly, helpful staff made all the difference.

Oh my goodness! Service and amenities in boutique hotels can vary, but this one far exceeded our expectations, primarily due to the staff. Manager Michele, Valerie at the reception desk, Yvonne and the new waiter Ronnaud (not sure of spelling of his name), were all fantastic, friendly and made us feel right at home.

The room was very comfortable with modern amenities.

The food was also very good. The chicken breast with hollandaise sauce was one of the best I ever had.

Though the hotel is a few kilometers from the train station, the walk wasn't bad at all, even in the snow. We would go back to Ambiance Hotel in a heartbeat.
